she's just there quietly fiddling with a grenade. as most teenage girls do
Tumblr media
maybe i was that okay with jibanyan dying because jinpei dies a lot, too
Tumblr media
see? just an average tuesday for him
Tumblr media
and you might ask. "out of all your y gakuen screenshots, how many are of jinpei?" and i will not reply. but let's just say he gets reeeeeeeally cute by the end of the series
Tumblr media
i don't know what about "furfest over there" is so funny to me. i wrote it. it shouldn't be that funny. sadly, if someone knows i'm the funniest motherfucker alive, that's me
Tumblr media
when i was little, they sold this neat little fork that spun, to eat spaghetti in an easier way. i remember you had to buy three packs, but we wanted one for my brother too, so we had a lot of pasta for lunch that month...
... why am i telling you this?

... again.
Tumblr media
jinpei's fate is to keep dying. like in a time loop, but he saves himself somehow with his catboy whimsy
Tumblr media
... i say, as if i don't squee every time i see a noko when i play yokai watch
Tumblr media
oh, i get it! longcat!

THIS was the scene that made "jinpei has comphet" from a joke to an actual theory, LIKE. he's looking at it because it's a book to solve love problems (even though it has a enra photos too?), and he feels guilty because it was his fault emma turned into a snake. he doesn't even care that she likes him, as shown here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and he has ZERO INTEREST in girls his age. not even kuka (we'll. we'll get to that) who is apparently so beautiful it's distracting boys and they cannot perform well academincally, gets a reaction out of him.
the girls he likes tend to be motherly. enra is a nurse, lana is. basically raimu's mom lol
the only exception are the cashier lady and the girl from the first episode, but it's likely that he just thought the girl was cool and with the cashier lady, he was just imitating the cashier dude.
also, he rarely gets flustered when enra is actually interacting with the club. i remember this one time enra complimented him and jinpei just laughed playfully. that was it. he blushes sometimes when matarou compliments him, though!
his deal with matarou is also clearly a crush, the moment he leaves the school he misses him and wants to summon him back, and when he was about to sacrifice himself, jinpei clung to him because he didn't want him to go, and it's the first time jinpei cried in a serious manner. because he didn't want him to go.
THEN THERE'S RAIMU. he became so obsessed with being his friend even though he only met him for like 10 minutes, since they got along almost instantly. raimu kept being all "i don't want friends. i don't NEED friends i am a being of darkness and destruction and also both jesus and the antichrist" and jinpei kept being so stubborn for no actual reason, he just. really likes raimu
anyways i think jinpei is jingay and his comphet stems from lacking a mother figure.
reading him like this makes this series both more frustrating and more enjoyable to watch, actually.
Tumblr media
this would later consume my brain for 3 years, actually

“Haha-ue! the little boy shouted as he ran out into the garden towards his mother. “Haha-ue, guess what!”
Crouched down as she tended to one of her moss patches—the boy had always wondered why she chose to raise a moss garden, considering her niche in flower arrangement—she turned her head with a subtle smile. “Ah, Kazuma-kun. How was your iaido lesson?”
“Good.” He stood up straight and proud with his left hand around the scabbard of his quarter-size wooden sword, keeping the right concealed within his hakama. Behind him, his father and swordsmanship instructor stood in the back doorway and fondly regarded his family, having brought Kazuma home from the dojo moments ago. “I have something for you!”
“Oh?”
He took his hand out and, with a zealous bow, presented her with a fistful of dainty, pink flowers.
“My, how lovely.” She received the posy, lovingly tied together with a crude bit of decorative knottery using a piece of dried grass. “Wherever did you find these? Hopefully in the wild and not in someone else’s garden,” she sternly questioned.
“Mm! They mean, ‘I will always protect you.’”
To his utter surprise, his heartfelt gesture was met with an outburst of laughter. Even taken out of context, this was a rare sight to behold; he could probably count the number of times he’d seen his mother smile on one hand. He couldn’t make up his mind on how to feel about her reception until, once her chuckling came to a dwindle, she asked, “Kazuma-kun, do you know what kind of flower these are?”
“Oh. Uhm…” He shook his lowered head with a sheepish look on his face.
“They’re cyclamens,” his mother informed him. “Now, let me ask you another question.” Kazuma stood to attention while she pondered the best words to use. “How did you come to think the meaning of cyclamens was, ‘I will always protect you?’”
“Well, I just thought, since you always give flowers different meanings… You know, when you make arrangements for your friends from the ikebana school.”
“First of all, they’re not my friends. They’re my peers,” she stubbornly denied, though thanks to his father’s regular reassurance, Kazuma could see straight through her stoic facade to the true, tender love and care that lay beneath. “And second, there’s something you must understand about hanakotoba. It’s that you can’t simply make up whatever meaning you see fit for any flower you please.”
“You can’t?”
“No. You see, if everyone did that, there would be no order, no rhyme or reason, and hanakotoba would lose all meaning. It would have no point if you had to tell the recipient your own intended meaning for the flower you were giving them every time. Really, the very idea of that is just—”
But as her impassioned rant continued, the word ‘lost’ seemed to be written more and more boldly in the poor boy’s expression by the second.
She cut herself short, sparing him from further confusion. “Come,” she said, stashing the posey of cyclamens delicately in her kimono sleeve and rising to her feet. “I think it best that I simply show you what I mean.”
Kazuma followed his mother from the garden to the humble, six-mat section of the house designated as her flower arranging studio, but not before leaving his prized training sword with his father as she had forbidden him from bringing it into said room. Something about ‘disrupting the sacred tranquility,’ she’d explained. Despite his strong attachment to his sword, this condition of hers was of little concern. Until now, he’d never been allowed entry to his mother’s studio whatsoever. The chance to finally see what was hidden behind the doors to where she spent so much of her spare time made him forget all about having to leave behind the item he’d always carried with him everywhere at all times since the day his father had first entrusted it to him. He knew he’d get it back first thing after this anyway.
The six-year-old looked around in awe at the collection of tools and vessels of all shapes and sizes—everything a master of the delicate art of flower arrangement required—as she took a book off the tall shelf lined up against the far wall. “Come sit, Kazuma-kun.” She seated herself seiza-style on one of the mats and patted the space next to her with her empty hand. As he promptly followed her direction, plopping down beside her and mirroring her position, she opened the tome in her lap and flipped through a few of its pages.
“This is what you wanted to show me?” he questioned. Though his literacy was exceptional for his age, it only took a glance for him to figure out that the text it contained was leagues above his current reading level. There were a handful of colourless floral illustrations scattered throughout, but not nearly enough.
“Yes. This is my copy of the first and only edition of Japan’s Flower Dictionary,” she proudly stated. “Which means no touching.”
“Sorry,” muttered Kazuma as he reluctantly pulled his hand back to his lap.
She proceeded to enlighten him about the purpose of this ‘Flower Dictionary,’ pointing out the entries for each species and how their meanings originated in various legends and historical events dating back centuries, or in other cases due to their unique characteristics. “Some flowers have more than one meaning,” she went on. “For instance, cyclamens like these can express either shyness or jealousy, depending on the colour.” Kazuma nodded along with wide eyes, following her finger across the words he couldn’t read. “Do you remember your birth flower?”
“Yes! It was the Chinese bellflower,” he promptly recited. “You told me last year.”
“That’s right,” she nearly smiled. “In hanakotoba, the Chinese bellflower symbolises ‘patience’ and ‘endless love.’” This had the boy practically gagging at the girly sentiment, which made the woman’s imminent grin all the more difficult to suppress.
“Um, Haha-ue?” The little boy tugged on her sleeve. “Are there any flowers that do mean, ‘I’ll always protect you?’”
Closing the book in her lap, she smiled fondly down at him and placed an arm round his shoulders. “None that I know of, I’m afraid. But that’s alright. Cyclamens happen to be one of my favourites, you know.”
Tumblr media
A couple of years passed by in a flash. Kazuma was eight now, and still the academic prodigy his parents and extended family took such pride in. He had to study hard; he had his father’s shoes to fill, now that he was setting off for his own studies to the distant lands of Great Britain. Despite how much he would miss spending time with him, he held his head high in his absence, knowing he was the one and only son of a future hero of Japan.
It was the day of Genshin’s departure. Kazuma and his mother were on the train back to their estate in Yokohama. It wasn’t long after their boarding that a field of striking red flowers came into view through the carriage window. The boy recognised them to be spider lilies. As he watched the world go by, he wondered to himself about what sort of meaning they carried in the language of flowers.
He was just about to voice his curiosity, but when he turned to his mother, he was stopped by the sight of her. She sat gazing out the window upon the field of crimson in deathly silence, a dark, foreboding look frozen upon her face.
In the end, Kazuma decided not to ask. Maybe he was better off not knowing, he thought. Just as he would’ve been better off never having caught sight of that grim expression of hers.
The two of them lived alone together for the following six years. All the while, they would spend each day looking forward to the next letter from London. Young Kazuma was always especially eager to hear of his father’s noble exploits. But when the day finally came that the travelling students were to return home, fate had other ideas for the Asougis. It was then, just as Kazuma was preparing to enter his teenage years, that he learned of his father’s untimely demise.
Ever since the terrible news came, his mother became more and more despondent by the day. She’d always presented a relatively distant exterior, never one to talk much about herself or her past, since as far back as he could remember. But after moving in with the Mikotobas, she rarely spoke to him or anyone else and even more rarely ventured outside. All she seemed interested in anymore was how well he performed in school. And so, he became all the more determined to excel in whatever ways available to him, just in the hopes of giving her something to smile about.
Then one day, a letter was delivered to their doorstep. A letter from London, sent by one Barok van Zieks. Except when it came, it had already been mistakenly delivered to the Asougi main family household. Of course, upon reading the contents of the letter, they disowned what was left of the broken little branch family on the spot.
The arrival of that cursed letter marked the beginning of the widow Asougi’s slow and torturous passing. Worse yet, she wasn’t the only one tortured by it. Kazuma could do little but watch as the bitterness of undue exile changed her into a cruel, heartless husk of her former self. Her transformation turned his education from an aspiration for which he’d strive into a ledge from which he’d forever dangle above the bottomless ravine of humiliation and failure. Even still, none of this made any difference to him. He knew she was not long for the world, and so he would do whatever it took to become the son his mother wanted.
Karuma, a symbol of justice once wielded by his scorned father, the heroic Asougi Genshin. It became clear the moment the illustrious sword was passed into Kazuma’s hands, that his mother’s time among them had at last reached a merciful end.
“Haha-ue,” he addressed, disrupting the impenetrable silence hanging in the air of her room. “I have a question that I’ve wanted to ask you for a long time.”
“What?”
“You’ve always had a passion for flowers, and for all the various meanings assigned to them over the ages, and yet you decided to raise a moss garden rather than a flower garden. Why?”
“Because moss doesn’t wither and die each year the way flowers do.” She didn’t meet his eyes when she spoke, only staring emptily up at the ceiling. “Moss stays alive and present year-round, even if it loses its bright green lustre every now and again when it isn’t watered properly. It persists, despite the strains of neglect and of the ever changing seasons.”
His eyes wandered to the white chrysanthemums and pink cyclamens placed by her pillow. He himself had diligently arranged them for her, using what small portion he’d inherited of her talent for the art. “Thank you.”
“Now I have a question for you.”
She was looking him in the eye now, her own suddenly alight with a certain conviction that hadn’t been there a moment ago.
“What is it?”
“Do you deny the allegations against Genshin? Do you believe in his innocence, enough that’s you’d stake your honour on it?”
“Of course I do,” he answered without a moment’s hesitation. The question required no deep thinking or internal debate. His father’s was the very face of justice in his eyes, despite the ignorant slander that the rest of the family cast upon him. “I’ve never doubted it for a second.”
“Then listen closely now.”
The night Kazuma’s mother passed away, he did not grieve, nor did he on the night of her funeral. Her parting words had awoken something within him. Something restless, unyielding, and burning with an anger that could not be quenched.
Tumblr media
The instant he saw it, everything flashed before him all at once before he could so much as blink. It was as if he’d been seeing the world in monochrome until now. Everything suddenly had meaning. His voyage to Great Britain, his knowledge of the law, his mentor—the person responsible for utterly destroying his life—but the thing most prominently on his mind was the voice in his head.
Even now, she was barking relentlessly in his ear, berating him for having the gall to forget. It was the voice of Asougi Kagami. All this time, the one haunting his every thought and action had been the ghost of his own eternally grieving mother.
Kazuma let out a wretched, bone-chilling scream.

did you ever fill out that dgs musical bingo sheet?
I DID I meant to upload it with one of my overall thoughts postings but for various reasons those did not happen so. here
Tumblr media
So no bingo but we were close. some elaboration:
-worst possible romance option when I wrote this, in my head, was for ryu and susato, but the musical goes a step further and like. teases the possibility of a ryu-susato-asougi love triangle before thankfully shutting it down. but they sure did bring it up so this definitely gets checked off
-jury arguably did something by the culprit being a jury member at one point, but I'm not counting that because the other jury members did absolutely nothing
-tie-in to the original musicals and screaming once at the screen in an incomprehensible rage are BOTH because the spirit medium juror looks exactly like maya and they brought her in a hundred years before she was born to mock her. because the musicals haven't done enough to her. also tie-in to the original musicals with zheng fa doing something.
-I almost missed the hidden background dgs merch but iris is holding one of those little nyan zieks dolls at one point. haven't spotted anything other than that
-bgm is mixed into song for both iris's song and asougi's samurai with a mission song
-some of these I can't check off until I have subtitles so they're at a question mark point. there's definitely one point in the case where I have no idea how they identify the culprit but I can't in good faith check that off when they might be clearly explaining it and I just don't understand japanese.
-I would have had a bingo if the dance of deduction segments were musical numbers!!
-the fact that I could put a question mark on it being a faithful adaptation is shocking because, forced romance aside, the rest of it is actually more true to the spirit of dgs than the original musicals were to the games they were based on. again, shocking.

Capcom's Official AA Fanclub Surveys - DGS Edition
Many Western fans may be familiar with the Turnabout 4koma comics that get posted on the official AA fanclub site that Capcom runs, thanks to some lovely fans on tumblr and elsewhere who have shared their translations. What fewer people seem to know about is the character surveys.
Back in the old days, they used to hold a survey on Capcom's official AA fansite every few months where they'd write about the seasonal activities of a handful of characters and ask fans to vote for the funniest/most pleasant/strangest/etc answer.
They stopped doing them in like... 2016? 2017? The original text is lost for good as far as I can tell. Even the wayback machine couldn't help because the content was password locked and you can't get past the password wall while remaining in the archived version.
Fortunately, I saved some of my translations of them so I thought I’d share them.
Cut for length...
"February has begun, and the DGS cast is nearing the end of their journey aboard the RFS Alacrei. Which of them acted the most strangely?"
Ryuunosuke ~ Exhausted from his intensive study session, he decided to try some katana swinging practice as a change of pace and to combat his recent lack of exercise. But because he wasn't used to handling the katana, he swung it too hard and it went flying out of his hands and got stuck in the wall right next to Sherlock, who had just entered the room. Sherlock asked him, "aren't you supposed to be studying right now, Mr. Naruhodo?" and handcuffed him to his desk.
Susato- worked on developing a curriculum for Ryuunosuke. 'If we keep going at this pace, he won't be able to learn it all in time... It'll be hard on Naruhodo-sama, but we'll have to work hard through a couple of nights together.' With that thought, she created a harsh study schedule, and almost seemed to be looking forward to it for some reason.
Sherlock- Driven by excitement over the thought of returning to England after a long absence, he went up on deck to stare at the ocean. Being February, it was very cold out there and he ended up being chilled all the way to the tips of his fingers. He returned to the ship cabins and amused himself by putting his frozen hands on Ryuunosuke, who was stuck in his room studying.
Van Zieks- Upon hearing from Vortex that there was a Japanese exchange student coming to England to study law, he smashed a Lord's Bottle. He apparently also didn't care for the fact that that Japanese student wouldn't be alone, because he proceeded to shatter his chalice, too.
Hosonaga- in order to provide a respite from studying, he provided some hot chocolate. They enjoyed a pleasant tea time, marveling over how sweet and delicious the drink was until Sherlock piped up with some unnecessary trivia: 'Actually folks, chocolate has long been used in Europe as an aphrodisiac!' Everyone promptly spat it out."
"The long winter is nearly over and spring is on it's way, putting the DGS cast members in a celebratory mood. Who found the best way of enjoying spring?"
Ryuunosuke: the Yuumei University faculty members were holding a flower viewing event, and he joined the assistance committee. He exhausted himself keeping the blankets clean so the intense shower of flower petals wouldn't pile up too high on them, delivering sake and snacks, and mediating whatever pointless fights arose. To top it all off, for some reason his compensation was only a single piece of leftover candy. Talk about a sad result!
Susato- her father and the others living in his dormitory were  holding the flower viewing event, so she got up early to prepare the bentos. But her father carelessly forgot to tell her that they wanted tea cakes, so she had to go around the house and neighborhood collecting sweets. For some reason, she ended up being able to gather caramels, biscuits, candy sticks, basically everything but tea cakes, for the tea ceremony.
Sherlock- he disguised himself as a beat officer and infiltrated Scotland Yard to have some fun. There was a real beat officer napping on his feet in the spring sunshine, and while observing him, Sherlock ended up falling asleep too. Detective Gregson gave them a good scolding when he found them, but then Sherlock revealed his true identity with a "hey, it's me, folks!" "What the blazes do you think you're doing?!" Gregson shouted, his rage growing even more, and Sherlock ended up making a run for it.
Van Zieks- went to the vineyard to oversee the production of the contents of his Lord's Bottle. As he viewed the still unopened grape blossom buds, he thought about how they would someday grow up to fill his Lord's Bottle, and ended up going around to look at each one. But the farm hands couldn't stop wondering whether the bottle itself or its owner's heel might come flying at them and were quite uneasy.
Asougi: exhausted himself running around since early morning helping with the professors' flower viewing event. When it was over, he took a break, sharing his reward candy stick [the name of the candy literally translates to 1,000 year candy] with Ryuunosuke, who had also been helping out.
"I wonder if the candy's effect is halved if you share it with someone."
"That still gives us 500 years."
They laughed and enjoyed looking at the flowers until dark. Then they parted ways with a handshake and a "see you later, best friend."
(This one was something about celebrating New Years. For some reason I didn't save the original question)
"Ryuunosuke ~ To celebrate New Years, he planned to pound mochi with everyone at the office. He somehow managed to get his hands on some mochi rice and he and Sherlock started pounding. Iris was having such fun watching them that she steamed a whole bunch more mochi rice so they could have some to share, and he and Sherlock spent the whole evening pounding mochi like crazy.
Asougi~ Because it's New Years, he went around to a bunch of shrines. When he drew his new year's fortune, he got a "horrible luck" result. "I'm not worried about it," he claimed, and headed up to the mountains early on New Years morning and work hard on a full training course of purification by water, meditation under a waterfall and wooden sword practice. It seems that he was working really hard to clear his mind of all earthly thoughts
Sherlock- Agreed to help Ryuunosuke pound mochi. As Ryuunosuke was flipping the mochi over, he carelessly dropped his badge into the bowl and Sherlock mixed it in without noticing, so they had to crack open both the hard and soft mochi to look for it. Fortunately they found it in the 4th one they checked, but apparently Sherlock got his hands and face covered in sticky white mochi in the process.
Susato- Wore a furisode and went with her father to do the first shrine visit of the year. The shrine was incredibly crowded and they had to wait in line for a long time, but she brought the Encyclopaedia of British Law and a copy of the Strand Magazine in her sleeves to secretly read as they waited so she actually ended up enjoying the wait.
Van Zieks- Ryuunosuke cheerfully gave him some mochi as a New Year’s (which at that time was celebrated at the same time as the Chinese New Year) gift, which he accepted confusedly, wondering “...Can the Japanese not even keep track of when the New Year is?” Because Ryuunosuke referred to it as a rice cake, he tried to eat it like a regular cake without softening it with heat first. It was so hard that he couldn’t imagine how it could possibly be food, and ended up misunderstanding the Japanese even more!
"Autumn has arrived, and the weather is starting to cool off, which means that everyone is becoming more active. Which character chose the most pleasant autumn activity to keep busy with?"
Iris was making bread but her hands are small and it’s difficult for her to knead the dough, so she asked for Ryuunosuke’s help. She wanted to make enough to hand out to Gina and all the other homeless children in the East End, so she made a massive amount and Ryuunosuke was stuck kneading this massive mountain of bread dough all day. Apparently he became such a expert at kneading that he could be a baker now.
Asougi was practicing with his sword, slicing autumn-colored ginko leaves as they fell from the tree. He cut so many leaves, though, that he ended up making a big mess on the ground, the number of fallen leaves now having increased, and it took him a long time to clean it all up.
Sherlock: Ryuunosuke told him that he was making anpan (bread filled with sweet red bean paste, the bane of my Asian-dwelling existance) and asked Sherlock to help by being in charge of getting the poppy seeds they’d need to sprinkle on top, so Sherlock went out and gathered a ton of poppy seeds. In fact, he got so many of them that no one knew what to do with them all cuz they had a huge amount of leftovers. Sherlock said, “Well, they’re only the size of poppy seeds! Surely you two can deal with them somehow! Ahahaha!” and Iris scolded him.
(I couldn’t capture it in English, but Sherlock’s line contained a pun, and a pretty stupid one at that, so that’s part of why he got scolded)
It’s grape harvesting season, so Van Zieks commutes to the winery regularly to direct the production of the contents for his “Lord’s Bottle.” He demands perfection in everything from the selection of the grapes to the way they’re squeezed, and the winery staff is terrified by the “grim reaper’s” gaze and heel swinging (i.e. the leg thing he does in court) so they grumble as they work.
"Hearing that there’s a holiday in the West called Halloween, the people involved with the court in Japan decided to try it out themselves. Naturally Halloween is a big deal in England as well. So, which member of the DGS cast had the best celebration?"
Team Ryuunosuke and Asougi- Asougi got Naruhodo up on his shoulders and they draped a white sheet over themselves to make a ghost costume. They went out like that, but Naruhodo had such exaggerated reactions to the fear of the people who saw them and to bumping his head on tree branches that they ended up losing their balance and falling on top of each other?!
Sherlock Holmes- went wearing a horse’s head mask. Iris used her skills to make it a fancy horse covered in stars, but the eye holes weren’t well made and he had to wander around blindly. Because of that he tripped hard over a pile of coal! He ended up getting so dirty that the stars on his costume were covered up!
Van Zieks- took inspiration from his nickname and dressed up as the grim reaper. He covered himself up with a skeleton mask and hood figuring no one would know it was him. Unfortunately he got angry when he saw Megundal (McGilded) pass by and started throwing bottles and glasses and ended up giving himself away.
"November has arrived, and autumn is nearing its end. However, the DGS cast is still keeping busy, even on their days off. Which character chose the most interesting way to spend their late autumn day?"
Ryuunosuke- Thinking that he’d better learn more about British culture if he was going to be a defense attorney in Britain, he went down to the East End with Gina for a little observation. However, because an Asian like him stood out so much, he got mobbed by the other children. On top of it all, his arm band got stolen from him and he had to send a replacement request to Yumei University on the other side of the ocean.
Asougi- He went for a meal at La Quantas. The customer at a nearby table got a persimmon for dessert and scarfed it down, saying “Mm! This is it! This sweetness makes it worthy of being called a treasure among foods!” Asougi tried to comment on this by saying, “The customer at that table sure is enjoying his pershim--gak!” but he may or may not have accidentally bitten his tongue in the process and been unable to finish his sentence.
Iris- She accepted Ryuunosuke’s request to learn more about British culture and prepared a bagpipe and kilt costume for him. “This outfit sure is breezy,” Ryuunosuke said shyly upon trying it on. With Ryuunosuke now dressed, he, Iris, and the others from their office headed over to Gregson’s place to get him to treat them to some fish and chips.
Sherlock- He accepted Ryuunosuke’s request to learn more about British culture and cooked up some European style curry for dinner. Thanks to the fact that his secret ingredient was a large amount of Chinese herbal medicine style spice, it caused some strange side effects and Ryuunosuke, who’d eaten it, ended up passing out and falling over.
“Another taxing trial for Ryuunosuke has finished and now it’s December. As the year draws to a close, which character acts the strangest?”
Ryuunosuke- he was recruited to help with snow removal around Yumei University and the courthouse and he enthusiastically began his task with the help of a large shovel. He got a little carried away, though, and ended up accidentally burying his umbrella, which he’d left propped up against the side of the building, in the snow he’d just finished shoveling.  He had no choice but to share Asougi’s umbrella on the way home.
Asougi- On the way home, he nods silently to Ryuunosuke’s question of whether he’d finished his travel preparations and changes the subject: “...Come to think of it, it seems that tomorrow is celebrated in the West as God’s birthday.” “I’ve heard that they eat chicken as part of the traditional celebration. Wanna try it?” Ryuunosuke asks invitingly. Asougi is strongly opposed to that particular menu item, however, and they end up going out for their usual beef stew that night instead.
Susato- in addition to her year-end travel preparations, she also was busy with straightening up the book room in her home. She managed to get the law books in order when she suddenly stumbled upon some old issues of Strand Magazine! She hurried through the rest of her cleaning, then began flipping through the magazines she’d found, trying to decide which to take with her on her trip. She accidentally lost herself in her reading and didn’t realize it until it was already the middle of the night.
Sherlock- he was in the middle of a long ship voyage when Christmas night came. His mind on his partner in a far-off country, he made a toast alone on deck, when suddenly the crew began shooting off fireworks with a cry of “Merry Christmas!” Sherlock had to dart back and forth across the deck to prevent the fireworks from hitting him and setting off the explosive chemicals he carries with him.

okay, so i’ve finished the great ace attorney! some overall spoiler-free thoughts before i move on to case-by-case remarks:
it waaaaas a good experience overall, but unless i’m mistaken, this game has the weirdest, if not actually the worst pacing out of the entire series? like, i was warned about plot threads not reaching a conclusion since this game was made with a sequel in mind from the get-go; that’s not what i’m talking about. i’m talking about redundancies in the writing and just... bold decisions in how long certain parts of certain cases go on for, i suppose you could say?
still, as long as you’re prepared for that and are ok with it, it’s still absolutely a worthwhile experience. i mean i love ace attorney so of course i’d say that but still. this game has a really strong cast and i can’t wait for the sequel to get a thorough fan translation as well, so great job and thanks to studio scarlet (EDIT: wait no. it’s scarlet study) for helping people enjoy this game!
OKAY. more specific and spoilery observations under the cut:
case 1: I’m gonna be honest I played a lot of the early bits of this game in bed right before going to sleep so my judgement may not be the best because i was only half-conscious at times w-whoops. this one’s a fine intro case, even if it starts to run a bit long towards the end. great intro to our anxiety boy, hosonaga did not disappoint. obviously, now that i’ve played the game, i can no longer say he was the first de killer... ... he’s just OBVIOUSLY shelly’s actual blood ancestor. like, hello?? the gumption? the dedication to his job??? please do not die of tuberculosis, hosonaga. also asougi’s hair is dumb but his theme is really good and oh no he shares his VA with bruno bucciarati oh no
case 2: i cannot in good conscience dislike this case, which is honestly kind of impressive considering it’s All Investigation. :V but maaaan, it really started dragging towards the end. :( the climax just felt... drawn out and unsatisfying, unfortunately, and i feel like that’s a symptom of this game’s format being so different from all the rest - there’s a much larger focus on telling a long, overarching story. and that’s not necessarily wrong, and i appreciate them trying out something new,  but... if it’s not broke... i’m honestly surprised by how much i liked sherlock, haha. i mean susato is also great but i was just not expecting to be so amused by holmes?? what a great take on the character. also the Deduction bits may not be particularly challenging - and, yes, suffer a bit from the game’s overall weird pacing - but honestly i love them. love holmes being a ham,  love naruhodou joining him
case 3: this fucking case shook me to my core. i happened to examine the omnibus close to the end of the first part of the trial, and then close to the start of the second part, which meant the details were still fresh on my mind AND the alarm signs started going way the fuck off in my head from early on. it’s a fun play on the old ace attorney gambit of “oh no our defendant looks shady but surely he must be good” - it adds the conclusion of “oh FUCK NO oh my GOD eat the RICH.” i’m still sad barok’s name wasn’t ultimately romanized as baroque, but alas, that doesn’t detract from my big awful crush on him. i may or may not still blush when i think of him stretching his leggy out and i’m glad his rampant xenophobia seems to be something that might get character development’d out. ALSO the new juror thing is fun too! i really like all (... or most) of the new mechanics in this game. shame most of the jurors don’t get names, though, especially since so many of them are so much fun - capcom ripped off my oc and didn’t even give him a proper name?? no dignity OH YEAH SPEAKING OF ROMANIZED NAMES: i still think HURT VORTEX is superior but i’ll take hart vortex too
case 4: welp, there’s usually ONE downer in these games and this one’s mine. i’m not even saying it’s objectively bad, but between the fat jokes and the spousal abuse jokes, by the time the truth was becoming clear, i’d reached 2-3 levels of “NO SHUT UP THIS IS STUPID”. shame, because I actually quite like the garridebs’ character designs, and souseki is great fun - you all know i’m a fan of taking real dudes and having fun with them in fiction. it... didn’t help that i got very drowsy during chunks of the whole thing ultimately, i think one of my favourite parts of this case was one that wasn’t connected to the case itself, and that’s not great praise, haha :V;; (”what’s the big deal with the grim reaper anyway we won that trial just fine” “yeah but is megundal alive” “wh-” “IS HE ALIVE, BOY”) ALSO another symptom of the weird, bbbbbold pacing and writing decisions in this game: this one... shakespearean dude who just showed up for two minutes and then fucked off for the rest of the game?? hello??  sir???? what????? WAIT DOUBLE ALSO was this the case where barok just flung his bottle behind his back for the first time because the first time i saw that animation i had to stop and laugh for a second and i love it when these games do that to me
case 5: this case is extremely good because a) the pacing is super fucked (it takes like an hour for a crime to even happen and it gets up to INVESTIGATION 4 before the trial starts, jesus) and i still had fun and b) chekov’s cat flap gun is objectively dumb and i don’t even mind. it bothers me way less than Knife Drop actually so. disclaimer. i’ve thought “egg benedict” was incredibly handsome from the moment i first saw a screenshot of him, so obviously i’m biased, but to no surprise he’s my favourite culprit in this game w-whoops. the ones i wasn’t expecting to ALSO love were the tinpillars, holy shit, what a power trio. i was in fact a little disappointed that rupert (... robert? i’ve seen a couple of different romanizations of his name) was not the long lost third tinpillar brother, but then the credits had them pose together and i felt so much joy in my heart (also, extremely unusual for the true culprit of a case to be in the credits, but i’ll take it??? especially for the GROUP POSING i seriously can’t overstate how happy i was)
anyway, these thoughts are a little disjointed, i know, but i always have a little trouble getting my shit together when i’m talking about a game like this, haha ;v; feel free to ask me stuff or just casually hit me up if you wanna chat, though!
“wait, naem! you said you liked ALMOST all of the mechanics in this game! what’s the exception?”
........ well
it’s not so much a matter of not LIKING it, i just
i cannot, for the life of me, get magic eye pictures to work
yes i know how to cross my eyes. yes i have read how to do it multiple times. at this point i’m convinced my eyes are just fucked in some particular way that doesn’t let me Get It
i will never, ever know the unabated joy that case 5′s juror 3 experienced...........

Playing DGS, Case 2, Investigation 1, Part 2
Ryuunosuke is even more of a trouble magnet than his descendant, and that’s saying something.
***
Susato: If you want me to believe you’re innocent, show me evidence!
Me: What evidence? I’m still upside down.
Me: Oh, here we go. The glaring contradiction from the opening cutscene. Duh.
***
Susato: I can see why Asougi thought so highly of you.
Me: I’m lying on the floor, handcuffed, and probably staring up at you with a dumb look on my face.
Me: I’m not sure if this is a good sign.
***
Ryuunosuke: So, now that I’ve pointed out this glaring contradiction, you believe I’m innocent, right?
Susato: No.
Me: Ouch. Kinda fair, but ouch.
Susato: Okay, you can investigate the crime scene, but I’ll be watching you. Don’t mess with the evidence.
Ryuunosuke: …okay.
Me: Believe me, I won’t.
***
Me: First item of business: Look, I have a badge!
Susato: That’s not important right now.
Me: Okay, not the best “present badge” dialogue in the world…
***
Ryuunosuke: *tries to question a sailor and fails miserably*
Me: Maybe we should let the person who isn’t in handcuffs do the talking.
***
*while examining a fallen plate of chicken*
Susato: Didn’t Asougi dislike chicken?
Ryuunosuke: He hated it. He wouldn’t touch it last night.
13)      I’m getting the distinct feeling that chicken was drugged
***
Ryuunosuke: *reading ship regulations* “Do not store weapons or animals in the cabins.”
Me: *looks pointedly at Ryuunosuke and the katana on the floor*
Ryuunosuke: What?
Susato: I was just thinking. Are you a weapon or an animal?
Me: Well, by process of elimination, he’s clearly an animal…
Ryuunosuke: I guess I’m a forbidden possession either way.
***
Ryuunosuke: I can’t read this message Asougi left.
Susato: Me either.
Me: It’s forged anyway. And in Russian, from the sound of it.
14)     It’s the culprit who was Russian, not the victim.
a.      Where’s Holmes I want a word with him
***
Susato: Do you think Asougi knocked these books over while practising his swordsmanship?
Ryuunosuke: No, he wouldn’t do that.
Susato: Did you do it in a fit of anger when you woke up?
Me: You’ve been watching me like a hawk this whole time. Are you sure you didn’t knock them over in a fit of grief after you found Asougi’s body?
***
Ryuunosuke: This is the trunk Asougi used to smuggle me on board.
Susato: That explains the warning label: “Do Not Turn Upside-Down.”
Ryuunosuke: The sailors didn’t read it, by the way.
15)     …if Ryuunosuke fit in the trunk, do you think the real killer might be hiding in there?
***
Ryuunosuke: It looks like Asougi was in the middle of writing in his travel journal when he was killed.
Me: That explains the ink on the floor.
Ryuunosuke: There might be a clue in here. Let’s read it!
*Susato Toss*
Me: Or we could, you know, not.
***
16)     Hold everything there’s a vent and a bell-pull here I see where this is going
***
Holmes: *appears upside-down on the desk*
Me: Ah, there you are. This is going to be one crazy first meeting…
Ryuunosuke: Who’s that?
Susato: You don’t know who that is?
Me: Given the time and place I think it’s reasonable for him not to know.
Ryuunosuke: I can’t tell if he’s inspecting that desk or playing around.
Me: …both, probably
***
17)     Susato is apparently a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. Even in the year 1900, there’s no escape from fangirl assistants
***
Holmes: *Stares at Ryuunosuke with his fancy zoom goggles*
Me: Umm…yes?
Holmes: I think I’ve uncovered the truth of the matter!
Me: Then what is it? Tell me, please!
Holmes: You’ve returned from Afghanistan!
Me: *five minutes of laughter*
Me: …no.
***
18)     Holmes is an affably arrogant dramatic dork and I love him
a.      We’ll see if he makes up for the loss of Asougi’s sharp wit
b.      Also, his theme music is fantastic
***
Holmes: *continuing to spout very very wrong deductions*
Susato: *starry-eyed*
Ryuunosuke: *stunned silence*
Me: *trying not to laugh* No, no, and no
Holmes: …and to protect yourself, you killed the man with the headband!
Me: No. And you killed the music, good job.
***
Susato: I knew it was you!
Me: Did you not hear how obviously wrong all of that was?
Ryuunosuke: No, I—
Susato: Shame on you!
Me: Please calm down and listen!
Ryuunosuke: I—
*Susato Toss*
Me: Not again. Now, if you’d let me get a word in edgewise…
Ryuunosuke: I give up.
***
Susato: I’m sorry. I overreacted.
Me: Apology accepted…I think.
Ryuunosuke: How on earth did this person come up with so many wrong ideas?
Holmes: But it’s true! You got in trouble on your way to a foreign country!
Me: That’s the only part of that mess that had any basis in reality!
***
Susato: We’re sure to find the truth with Mr. Holmes’s help!
Ryuunosuke: I have a bad feeling about this.
Me: I agree

my friends got me on a dgs2 high recently, and it got me thinking a lot about Iris Watson
(major, MAJOR dgs2 spoilers, right up to endgame)
*******
iris’s relation to her real parents wasn’t really a “big deal” in the grand scheme of things, and i’m okay with that.
despite this tumblr’s URL being her, i struggled with iris’s place in the narrative for a long time. while i adore iris a whole lot, and her familial bond with sherlock makes me cry for a million years, her place in the narrative was a complicated subject for me. her relationship with klimt felt a bit like an afterthought, answered at the end of the story. i didn’t know if it was “wasted potential” or not.
but, recently, as i went home one day after discussing the game and its writing with my friends, i finally have an answer. and yeah, i’m sure there’s people who won’t agree with me, but iris’s story is fine. heck, i love it, now that i’m given time to think.
- to me, iris’s involvement in the story is more character-driven; rather than providing us The Clue to solve the conspiracy, we would instead watch her develop as the story goes on and we jump headfirst into the swirling darkness of the conspiracy.
in the first game, we spent the first case solving her presumed father’s murder. when ryuu and susato go to london, they meet iris, who claims to be john watson’s daughter. we get an “Oh, Shit” moment as we now struggle to consider whether we should tell her about her father’s demise. during her conversation at the attic with gina, ryuu and susato, she expresses that she misses her father, even when gina expresses her grievances regarding parents.
in the second game, we get in depth about the mystery, and how iris feels about her missing father. we learn how desperate she was to find out who her father is, even going so far as to have stolen government documents just to learn her father’s name. she is crushed to learn that not only is john watson just a nobody to her, the man who wrote the manuscript for sherlock’s cases wasn’t her father either.
it’s important that we got the scene in the middle of chapter 5 where iris feels a bit sad that she wasn’t yuujin’s daughter (as that would’ve made her susato’s sister), showing how she is still yearning for that biological connection. after susato and ryuu tell her that they’re perfectly fine in being her siblings despite having no blood relation, that’s when she starts to change her mind.
plus, with this exchange, we get an astonishingly heartwarming scene about the baker street family’s bond, even though only two of them are tied by blood. (”ryuu: i’ve got the strongest family backing me, after all” “me: my eyes are sweating”)
and in the end, we see that iris, who has certainly watched how the trial went down while having tea with Queen Victoria (lol), finally decided to stop trying to look for her biological father. she stops yearning for someone who most likely isn’t coming for her, someone who may not be the good father she may have imagined him to be... because she has sherlock, an amazing father who has been by her side this whole time, even if he may be eccentric and flawed.
- (insert me crying for years)
- when iris has her talk about seeing sherlock as her father, she says how she’s caused so much trouble for everyone during her quest to find her father. and it’s true - in the first game, gina goes to the pawn shop to look for the manuscript and gets arrested for murder, while sherlock gets shot; and in the second game, she stole the document about klimt’s autopsy report, which is just?? a bad thing to do??? daughter no
speaking of that, i really appreciate that moment because it’s iris acting out of a strong desire to connect with her father. i’m so glad that it’s plot relevant that susato and ryuu gain access to the document (which also reveals who sherlock’s partner really is), and also a character moment of a sad little girl who’s desperate enough to commit a crime. it kind of reminds me of pearl fey in 3-5, when she does That Bad Thing for a “good” reason? yeah
- i also think that iris serves as another person linked to the overarching theme of “Family” in the dgs series.
we have asougi & genshin, susato & yuujin, barok & klimt. except for ryuu, who is the lens we see this story through, the core cast has a family member, and we seen how... troubling these relationships are.
genshin and klimt’s deaths, as well as their actions before those deaths, have haunted asougi and barok for many years. we also know that susato and yuujin has a rocky relationship, due to how he straight up left the family after susato’s mother passed away. genshin, klimt and mikotoba aren’t 100% good people - and klimt is a heck of an understatement - and it’s caused varying degrees of emotional harm to the younger ones.
i suppose the only one who doesn’t have that is sherlock. he is, instead, linked to iris as her adoptive father. and it makes for a powerful scene when iris, one of the people haunted by the idea of “biological family”, calls him her “papa”. he is genuinely touched by that, considering her gratitude to be the most moving of all, compared to the many thanks he received from people he met in the past.
also sherlock is dadlock and i love the baker street family so much
on a lesser note is gina & gregson. in the first game, gina comes from a lonely past, jaded by how her parents abandoned her. in the second, she goes under the wing of gregson, who is yet another person who has committed numerous atrocities, but is well-meaning in general. in a way, gregson is an unstated father figure for her, and even if he may be bad, he still contributes to her growth. basically gina & gregson also make me cry a lot
to conclude this point, the “found family” narrative is one we see time after time in many stories, but the way DGS expresses this is wonderful.
- another thing is that, the reveal that klimt was iris’s father, felt less like a reveal, and more like the answer to “why hasn’t sherlock and yuujin told iris about her father, despite knowing who he is?”. for me, when i got to the reveal, my reaction was “ahhh, so that’s why they didn’t want iris to know!”
it’s also precious characterization for Klimt van Zieks, the man who committed crime after crime because he felt despair towards the darkness of london’s evils. klimt refused to tell barok about his unborn child, instead trusting this secret to genshin and asking him to help his family. klimt didn’t want iris to be raised in the van zieks household, and then known forever as the professor’s daughter, in case the true identity of the professor is revealed.
it shows that he may have strayed from the path of justice, it also shows that he still loves his family despite everything. after all, vortex managed to blackmail klimt by threatening to harm his wife.
if the dgs games were localized, i have a feeling we’d get so much discourse about klimt, lmao. but to me, it’s nuanced character writing. and if you know me, you know how much i love my flawed characters. klimt is a murderer, and don’t get me wrong, let’s not excuse his crimes, but he feels very human. and this is something we can explore in fiction. klimt van zieks is a tragedy, a good man who faced evil with justice and became the villain in the end.
- in a way, it’s also characterization for sherlock and yuujin, the latter to a lesser degree. they didn’t want iris to find out who her father is at her young age, because they were worried that they’d find out about the atrocities her father committed in the past.
they never intended to let iris know the name of her father, either - it’s only through her discovery that she found the document signed by john watson. at that point, sherlock had to go along with the lie, because to him, that’s better than telling the truth about her murderer of a father, and let her shoulder that truth for the rest of her childhood. he cares about iris, as cruel as his actions may be.
of course, lying to a little girl and letting her believe that her father is a complete stranger isn’t GOOD. but like i said, it feels nuanced, that our good lovable cast is very much imperfect. imo sherlock holmes is Good when you show how hecked up he is as a human being alongside how good he is as the famous detective
- “but john watson WAS involved in the professor case!” the imaginary person in my head says. “iris could still be his daughter, and it could still keep the idea that iris’s parentage would be problematic to the public.”
this is coming from a place of hindsight and being able to see the big picture as a player, but, like. between one of the few people centrally involved in concealing the truth of the the professor’s crimes... and THE guy, the person who committed said heinous crimes? the man who, in this particular narrative, is much more important to learn more about? i’d give the characterization to klimt every day of the week, no question.
and maybe it’s because i don’t have as much of an emotional connection to the sherlock holmes canon, but i don’t really mind that the man named John H. Watson wasn’t as important in the narrative as takumi’s original characters. just because takumi wanted to write sherlock holmes fanfiction, doesn’t mean he has to completely rely on the characters and conventions of sherlock’s stories, i feel?
i mean, we have Mikotoba Yuujin. just because the guy named john watson isn’t the man we know and love in THIS story, doesn’t mean our “sherlock” and our “watson” isn’t still there. i’m okay with takumi and the writing team twisting sherlock canon to fit their narrative. and besides, i’m going to be vague because spoilers, but it’s not as if certain TV shows adapting sherlock holmes haven’t changed the characters to fit their own narratives.
*******
it’s funny to say this, but after writing all that, i feel like i have much more of an appreciation for iris watson’s story, and dgs’s narrative in general. it’s such a good game, and i’m so glad i got to experience this story myself.

✧.* gender/pronouns ─ “You” pronouns
✩.* note ─ I'm writing shorts drabbles as of rn bc I literally forgot how to write/ the persona of characters, so these kinda drabble are like a work out, so I'm really sorry if this is bad/off characters and sorry of a lot of these were super rushed I just couldn't think of an ending(〃>_<;〃) also I'm trying a lot of aesthetic as of right now
✩.* TRIGGER WARNINGS ─ Unhealty Obsession, Unhealthy Thinking, and OOC
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[♡]ー ꒱・!the uptight young lawyer - RYUNOSUKE NARUHODO.
A stuttering, blushing mess was the boy; Ryunosuke Naruhodo when you accepted his love confession. He was not intense unlike a certain best friend of his when showing his affections towards you, he's sweet and charming in his own ways making sure that he's doing everything in his power to be the best lover to his beloved.
He's quite suffocating with his affections but you can live with that you think. He was--in your opinion the best lover you ever had until you started noticing that a lot of your friends were drifting away from you ever since you started dating Ryunosuke, you tried your best not to think deeply about it but then you noticed the guy who used to flirt with you at campus started avoiding you like a plague, and then like a courtroom evidence started stacking off. Remember that one friend who warned you about Ryunosuke? Ryunosuke somehow made you avoid that friend.
But you dare want to question your lover, who has done everything for you?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[♡]ー ꒱・!the sharp tongue samurai - KAZUMA ASOUGI.
My, it seems like you caught the eye of the composed, yet hot-blooded Kazuma Asougi. Him being determined to claim your heart by courting you, you felt super flattered. It's not like everyday you'll see anyone declare their intention of courting someone in front of a whole crowd and better yet someone as handsome and diligent as Kazuma.
Everyday he'll pick you up at your estate, maybe even trying to woo your parents into thinking he's a perfect partner for their child. Maybe it's his passionate words about how he's ready to climb mountains after mountains just for your soft everlasting touch. Let's say after his whole speech his name will be brought up more every time you visit or eat together with your family.
At first you thought that this was too good to be true, Kazuma is always the first person you'll see in the morning, he'd carry all your stuff for you and even bring you gorgeous accessories, until he became quite overbearing...
He'd act so possessive over you, making sure that every free moment of your time should be with him. He'd act so jealous whenever you're getting too close to your male or female friends. There isn't a single moment where you can't hear his name on someone's mouth and your parents didn't help either, they were always gushing about him like how he helped your mother pick up some groceries or how your father talks about how he's easy to bond with, maybe if you have siblings; younger siblings to be exact rants of how big brother Kazuma help them with their homework and after that played with them. It was too much, you want time for yourself. But you can't do that now, rejecting a man like Kazuma would not only make your parents see you with dejected eyes but also Kazuma is a stubborn man, no matter what you say or do he'll always be coming back to you. No matter what he won't back down.
Sometimes being passionate and determined can lead you to being stubborn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[♡]ー ꒱・!the strong yet warm-hearted assistant - SUSATO MIKOTOBA.
How charming and unique she is; Judicial assistant Susato Mikotoba was always there for you, she was a woman who you can truly depend on, she'll always there's help you giving you new knowledge she's a determined and fierce woman if she ever hears someone talks bad about you she would be giving them a great scolding.
How charming and unique she is; Judicial assistant Susato Mikotoba was always there for you, she was a woman who you can truly depend on, she'll always be there to help you and give you new knowledge she's a determined and fierce woman if she ever hears someone talks bad about you she would be giving them a great scolding.
She's your right hand and she’s one of your most loyal and reliable friends, a young woman who you could always count on, may it be legal advice or your feelings. She's the person you can rely on, she's an example of what kind of woman you'd want in a partner or as a friend, no matter how much she has her faults sometimes she always tries her best to make you happy with anything she can offer.
So with that, her love for you is composed yet stern, so would be with you every day, it could be overbearing to time but how can you decline or push away someone you completely trust with your life?
It was not hard for you to admire such a woman. While you were admiring her she's lovestruck by you whenever she's around you she tries her best not to act like a schoolgirl, Susato knows those dark lingering thoughts are not normal and she's strong enough to stop them from spreading because...
..as long as you're happy she's happy.

[♡]ー ꒱・!the dunce but cunning British detective - HERLOCK SHOLMES.
You were used to the smell of tobacco and sweet pastries ever since you became close to the infamous detective: Herlock Sholmes and his assistant slash adopted kid slash border Iris Wilson. He may have a reputation and name for being called a great detective but if you spend even a second with him you might even find yourself wondering if the man in front of you even called a detective after all his deductions that do not even come close to being correct it's quite concerning time to time but that's the reason what led you to be close to him. You were helping him in every job he decided to accept you helped him fill in some missing logic, little but still crucial things, that's the reason why he kept on dragging you to new cases you basically didn't even have time to do your own detective work.
While your relationship with Iris was wholesome, she'd make some of the most delicious sweets you have ever tasted, and whenever both of you have remaining time you help her bake or cook dinner It truly a heartwarming bonding with her. Or maybe there are days when you and Iris are playing with each other she might be a genius but she is still a little girl. You really tried to avoid the feeling but both of them were overbearing in their ways, you one day decided to talk to them about their behavior and how much they were taking so much of your time but whenever you looked at their eyes especially Iris's the words would just die on your mouth and eat dinner with them with a sad smile on your face, Herlock would try his best to be more comfortable around with him and Iris the sweetheart she is would try to pry those thoughts off you.
Herlock knew exactly what he was doing with the help of Iris the both of them would be like one happy family, you wouldn't leave them, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[♡]ー ꒱・!the boot-rising, lip service deadly prosecutor - BAROK VAN ZIEKS.
Barok Van Zieks hates you. He hated how determined you were when helping the defense clear out the defendant's name and how your eyes spark with hope when doing so.
You made his almost dead heart slowly beat for the first time in many years, he kept on investigating you, digging information after information on you, every time you were on a new case he would also be there, and he would throw some snarky remarks towards the attorney you were working with but never towards you. Whenever he's stressed or had a bad day he'd always look at a picture of you and his heart would beat faster, he just couldn't get enough of you.
Barok knew what he was feeling wasn't normal and he was guilty for it. But he just couldn't resist you. The last straw was when he got injured when protecting you from a gunshot, probably the person was tied to the case and didn't want anyone finding out, besides the point. He woke up with you beside him with eyes with care and concern only for him. He hates you for him making feel greedy. He hates how much he yearns for you. He also hates himself that his heart is so weak for a person that everyone and anyone could love. You're so nice, kind, caring, understanding, selfless and so strong, that he can barely stand seeing you with another man when you've just started going out with even if it's just your legal companion.
... you made the Barok van Zieks weak.
And yet he loves you for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[♡]ー ꒱・!the rather easily flustered young girl - REI MEMBAMI.
Gallant! Dashing! Such compliments could be said by Rei to you, she would praise everything you do. Gushing, Fussing at everything you do it's too much to bear, but you don't want to break the girl's heart. Why should you that girl is head over heels for you, and ready to put anything including her below you, your needs will always be first!
She's always with you making sure that you won't get hurt but if you do get hurt then get ready for an incredibly adrenaline-rushed lady, she would fuss over it even if it's a paper cut, but don't worry she didn't learn medicine for nothing so let her take care of you!
She would be bandaging your wound while trying to keep her cool but how can she? She's touching the skin of her beloved so how can she contain her lovestruck smile. Oh, how she dreamt about this! Like one of those fairytales when the princess heals the Knight. Now, would you love her and protect Rei like a princess while you act as her courageous Knight? You do love her, right?

[♡]ー ꒱・!the honest and hard-working sick detective - SATORU HOSONAGA.
He's an honest and hardworking man and you love him for that. Your fiance Satoru Hosonaga; a detective is such a lovely man. He's devoted to you making sure that you eat and sleep well, he's even the one making your bentos, better yet even if he's a detective he always has the time to make dinner for you. Day and night he's always on your side, ready to protect and smother you with his love.
He would praise the floor which you've walked upon, how could he not? You were sweet and caring no wonder why he was attracted towards you, but like candy unwrapped and left unsupervised it will attract some flies, just like how your sweet honey personality attracted many suitors. Hosonaga knows his limits as a detective and the power he yields as one, he tried to be logical about it first but whenever one of your suitors were making moves on you all he sees is read and all logic are thrown out of the window, the longer he stays away from you the more he yearns of you.
He'll keep you safe, and you'll always be loved by him, his love for you is expected of your soon-to-be husband.

Narumitsu and/or Asoryuu :>
*clutches hand to chest*
I forgot what this is for and had to look on my blog
send me a ship, and i will tell you:
asoryuu (slight dgs2 spoilers)
• when or if I started shipping it: the very moment Asougi called Ryuu “partner”
• my thoughts: ASASILJHAD;OIAS I LOVE THIS SHIP IT’S SO WARM AND FLUFFY AND THEY’RE FREAKING MEANT FOR EACH OTHER
• What makes me happy about them: they love and care about each other so much Asougi legit smuggles him overseas just because he wants to hang out in England with him and they split the food on the trip 50/50 even though it means they both go hungry and Asougi calls Ryuu’s smile refreshing and when they’re on opposite sides of the courtroom Asougi asks Ryuu to go against what he believes to be true and Ryuu concedes because he trusts Asougi wholeheartedly and in the DLC case when Asougi’s upset about technically losing the competition to choose the exchange student Ryuu tells him “even if you had come in last place you’d still be the best to me”
• What makes me sad about them: That thing that happened in 1-2 and the end of 2-5 and basically everything in between
• things done in art/fic that annoys me: honestly...there are so few fics/art of them and they’re all so precious that I haven’t really come across anything that annoys me...I gotta say I’m most annoyed with this fic called DGS2 written by this guy Shu Takumi because he loves writing angst and unsatisfying endings
• things I look for in art/fic: literally. anything
• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: tbh everyone in DGS is pretty shippable with everyone else...Ryuu with Susato is pretty cute, Ryuu with Sherlock is always good, I’ve even seen Ryuu with van Zieks headcanons that were pretty good haha as for Asougi I could see him with Sherlock in one of those relationships where they constantly bicker about petty things but still get on really well at the end of the day. He’d also be an amazing couple with Susato although I saw a post explaining that they were probably engaged in canon and it weirded me out so much I almost cried it honestly felt like the same level of wrongness as walking in on your parents doing it I was so uncomfortable
• My happily ever after for them: I just want them to be together I don’t care how
• what is their favorite non-sexual activity? People-watching, practicing english and tongue-twisters, probably tickle-fights
BONUS NARUMITSU BECAUSE I NEVER GET ASKS
• when or if I started shipping it: before I played the game, my little sister told me about the unnecessary feelings line and Phoenix switching majors to force Edgeworth to talk to him and I knew I needed in on this• my thoughts: ultimate OTP, true gay icons• What makes me happy about them: how close to canon they are• What makes me sad about them: how close to canon they are• things done in art/fic that annoys me: when people write Phoenix as though he’s on a totally different intelligence level from Edgeworth and they write Edgeworth as totally disrespectful of Phoenix, when they make either of them uncharacteristically affectionate, I don’t really know I don’t read a lot of fics I’m just making stuff up,,,,• things I look for in art/fic: good characterization, unique/clever plots, good writing• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: bitch please• My happily ever after for them: growing old together with their huge family of adopted kids• what is their favorite non-sexual activity? practicing courtroom technique, yelling objection at random shit, making puns and ridiculous innuendos, attending their kids’ recitals and arguing over how the video camera works...
