Note
Opinion on assikawa since both you and Noel are watching haikyuu rn
Also on another note as a former pjo kid should I watch the new show-?
okay so I hope you're just making fun of oikawa and that it is not in fact a ship name. so like if it is. oops. my bad.
now about oikawa. he's so,,,,, well. I was so aggressively annoyed by him at first cause he kept beating karasuno and THOSE ARE MY KIDS OKAY FUCK YOU OIKAWA,,,, but yknow as the eps went on...
I still think that oikawa is a fucking bastard but. he's really entertaining to watch. and I can appreciate how good he is at working with enhancing his team's performance. his interactions with iwaizumi are also genuinely funny as shit.
so ig bottom line is that he's a bastard and I love to see him be a bastard. and also I gotta appreciate his drive and also hate it a little when it drives him to fight karasuno with his best.
//oikawa rant over-- in my defense i have a lot of thoughts (lemme know what you think about oikawa)
NOW ABOUT PJO
some changes might be a little weird to see tbh, but as a former pjo kid myself, I'd say give it a shot! the actors will never look like the characters you remember (which is the only thing that the movies got semi right) and given the fact that the pjo show is not taking place in the 2000s, some small details will likely be different. rick has also changed a lot from 2005 or sth and that means that his characters have evolved too. but I truly think that essence of them is there. I'm not 100% sure about annabeth yet, to be honest, but I have seen it with percy and grover and sally and clarisse. the essence is there!!
bottom line: give ep 1 a shot. and let me know what you think about it and if you decide to continue it or not!

For @arrrseeenalfc and also in time for Iwa-chan’s birthday tomorrow
Warnings: fluff!, pet names, Oikawa being a troll (he needs a warning), mild swearing. (IDK how this happened. Le sigh)
First Love
“You should just tell her how you feel, Iwa-chan.”
“Shut up, Trashykawa.”
“What did I say about butchering my name?!”
Iwaizumi had been contemplating the many ways to tell you how he felt since you literally fell into his lap on the first day of school. He remembers vividly, the sound of the bell ringing between class changes and how you had just gotten up to get food from the canteen, at at same point he had stuck his legs out to stretch them. Neither of you paying each other attention, too absorbed in your respective best friends chattering yours ears off and the end result being you tripping over his long legs and landing with your hands on his shoulders, onto his lap. Never had you seen the many shades of red that this boy had gone through, from the tips of his ears to the top of his shirt where you could just peek his tanned skin. To make it worse, his chatty friend had hollered and laughed for about 10 minutes at the time and every time he saw you after that was a re-enactment of the first time you met Iwaizumi Hajime.
After being very flustered and tugging down your skirt to preserve your modesty, he had carefully stood you up and asked if you were okay, offered to take you to the nurse’s office and proceeded to beat down the chatty friend you later found out to be Oikawa Tooru. Since then, you had taken to joining their cramming sessions in the library near exam times especially when they had an upcoming game and needed your expertise on your favourite subject. The few times their assistant manager was unwell you had stepped in to help out with laps, laundry and practice drills until late at night. Iwaizumi offering to walk you home each time with Oikawa following behind in a huff at being left behind or not included in your plans. You had attended their games and would cheer along with the crowd, having the boys laugh at you the next day when you barely had a voice from screaming that loudly.
But he realised that he was in love with you when he lent you his jacket, the Aoba Johsai colours against your skin, more importantly his number 4 on your back had unlocked something within him. He wanted his wedding ring on your hand, your last name to match his, his hand in yours as you walked through life with him.
“Just tell her how you feel. If you don’t, I will.”
“You dare tell her, Shittykawa-“
“Tell me what?”
Two pairs of eyes, two mouths agape as you appeared in the hall where they were practicing together (read: arguing) for the last 2 hours. You had been walking home after spending time in the school library when you saw the lights on and heard them arguing, interest piqued when you had heard your name a few times. You didn’t want to eavesdrop, but you had been in love with Iwaizumi for a while and Oikawa knew it very well. The number of times Oikawa messaged you to come and cheer him up after a bad game or urged you to cook something he liked when he was unwell. The fact that you were first pick at being assistant manager even though you had no experience or that you had permission to leave school with them to away games.
“Nothing.” A hard elbow into Oikawa’s ribs before he continued. “It’s not an issue, don’t worry about it.”
Wheezing, Oikawa shoved Iwaizumi before running over to you dramatically, arms flailing before he clutched onto your arms.
“Princess, I would like to ask for your hand in marriage.”
The look on Iwaizumi’s face.
If looks could kill, everyone in a 10 mile radius would be stone cold dead.
“What did you say?! She’s not marrying you! She’s going to marry me, I’m the one in love with her. Not you, Assikawa.”
Silence.
“W-what did you say Hajime?”
The words were a mere whisper, your heart beating in your chest, thumping against your ribs as you spoke.
“I-I... I love you.”

Unmiss You I Iwaizumi H.
Tumblr media
A/N: So, I basically don’t know how it turned out like this... Not proud of this one though, kind of am? It’s honestly confusing. But hey, hope you like it!
Tumblr media
Two A.M. At least that was the time that was shown on his phone. He couldn't remember how long since then. Or how it happened. He just knew that he fucked up.
The device rang in his hand, answering quickly, not bothering to check the caller I.D., hoping that it was you, "yeah?"
"Aww, Iwa-chan! That was quick! Did you miss me that much?" He scoffed, throwing the phone on his bed, the call on speaker as he laid back down, his arm draped over his eyes.
"What do you want, Oikawa?" He asked without the usual insult to the setter's name.
"Are you… still thinking about her?" The caller said, careful in his words, "Besides, it's what? Almost three? You're usually not up this early."
"Why do you care?" He huffed as he thought about it. He never did stay up late or woke up early unless it was to give Oikawa the support he needed. But this time it was different, he knew that, and that was because he was waiting for you.
"Geez, of course, I care! You're my best friend! And it's obvious that you're miserable without her." Oikawa could hear shuffling on the other end.
"What do I do then? She won't answer my calls o-or reply back to my messages." Iwaizumi held out a pillow, throwing it across the room in frustration, "Hell, I can't even get a glimpse of her without those crows stopping me!!"
"Maybe… She wants to move on?" It was silent for a few moments as he debated in his mind. Was she really?
"... I hope not. Because wouldn't it be unfair if… she gets to forget everything when all I want is to get her back?" He gripped onto his dark hair, tears threatening to spill, his firm look shattering to pieces, "She's all that I think about after that game. She's in my dreams, within my vision… I could even hear her at times but…"
"But what?" A heavy sigh left Iwaizumi's lips as he succumbed to his thoughts.
"You're right… Maybe, she doesn't want me back. I can't just rewind time to make it right. I can't go back to before I fell for her, to stop myself from meeting her and undo everything because I know that I'll just end up liking her. Loving her." It wasn't like him to act like this.
He was stubborn. He wouldn't stop at anything like a breakup. Instead, he'd do anything to get you back. But, with how he was right now, he doubts that he'd be able to. That's just what was running inside his head. Full of doubt and regret.
"It would have been easier that way…" Oikawa comments, giving out a sigh as well.
"Yeah, no shit. But like you said, maybe she wants to move on. And I just have to live with the fact that you can't easily unmiss a person you so badly miss." Iwaizumi let out a growl of annoyance, hearing noises from the other side of the screen,  "Oi Kusokawa, are you still listening!?!"
"Get up. Out of bed. I'll pick you up in thirty minutes." He had to blink a couple of times, trying to register the words of his friend.
"What do you mean you'll pick me up!? Oi, don't come over or I'll kick your ass!"
"Just do it, will you Hajime?" Iwaizumi mumbles incoherent words to himself, debating whether or not he should. In the end, he gives in.
"Whatever."
Forcing himself out of his bed, he dressed with what he thought was okay looking. A long sleeve grey shirt and ripped jeans, not bothering to look good for something Oikawa had planned for him. It was useless, he thought. A distraction was useless. A knock came as he opened it, the setter eyed his friend from top to bottom.
"You look like shit." Oikawa said as he went in, hands in his pockets.
"Yeah, thanks sherlock." He rolled his eyes, closing the door.
"What's with the outfit? Come on, I'll get you something else." The setter darted towards his room, opening the closet for something the dark-haired male to wear.
"Why are you here, Oikawa? I'm assuming you aren't here just to take my mind off of her." Iwaizumi questioned, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Actually, I asked (y/n) if she could just hear you out. She'll be meeting us at the park." Oikawa admitted, already preparing for the worse.
"YOU DID WHAT!? YOU IDIOT! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?" Hands wrapped around the collar of Oikawa's shirt, face dangerously close and seething with rage.
"Because you're both hurting! See for yourself!" He got out his phone, scrolling through the messages he and two of Karasuno's members had been exchanging, "Both Tobio-chan and that Small Fry has been sending me pictures of her during their practice and she's trying her best to cope, struggling just the same as you."
"Shut up Assikawa!! (y/n)... She doesn't want me back. If she did, we would have fixed our relationship by now." "I lost her because I messed up. And--" Oikawa threw a pair of jeans with an oversized dark blue denim jacket and a grey hoodie.
"Here. Wear this." It was also the same one he wore when they watched the game between Karasuno and Shiratorizawa, "That's what you wore on your first date, right?"
"I… yeah."
"Good. I'm sure she'd like it if you wore that instead. I'll give you ten minutes to freshen up." He left Iwaizumi to get ready, closing the door behind him, "Or at least, as much as you possibly can. Geez, I can't believe you're an emotional wreck!"
Was it okay? Was it okay to see you? Did you hate him? Or did you still care? Was there still a chance for the two of you to get back together? More questions than answers and honestly, he only wanted to know if you'd take him back again.
"Hey, are you really sure she'll be there?" He got out of his room, wearing the clothes Oikawa handed him.
"I'm sure but…" Looking at him up and down again, a smile on his lips. His usual cheerful and outwardly carefree expression was on his face, "Look at my Iwa-chan, all grown up and ready to get his girl back!"
"Shut up! This was your idea!"
"Huh? Does that mean you don't really plan on fixing all of this? Are you giving up?" Iwaizumi choked on nothing, that wasn't his intention. He wasn't giving up. He just didn't know how to.
"That's not…" He was struggling to get his words out.
"Just kidding, Iwa-chan~!" Oikawa received a hit behind the head, one of the usual violent punishments he would get from his best friend, "Gah! What'd you hit me for?!"
"Shut up!"
"Is your vocabulary only limited to that?"
"Shut up!"
The walk towards the meeting place was quiet. He was uneasy. What were you even expecting from him? A sorry? To beg for forgiveness? A hug perhaps? Because he'd be ready to give you anything and everything. Shit, he should have brought that scarf you made for him.
"Huh? She isn't here yet?" Oikawa looked around but you were nowhere to be found.
"I knew it. She hates me." The dark haired male crashed down on a nearby bench.
"Now, don't go all psychic on me Iwaizumi. I was only late." Standing up quickly as if he didn't drown in his sorrows sitting on that wooden seat.
"(y/n)!" The setter greeted, tackling you into a hug.
"Sorry Tooru, did I make you wait?" You asked, pulling away from his hold.
"Nope! We just got here. I had to make sure Iwa got all dressed up instead of coming here only in sweatpants. Or those nasty jeans I saw him wear when I got there." He shuddered when he felt Iwaizumi's glare hitting his back as he raised both of his hands, making his way to the sides, "Well, I'll be way over there before Iwa-chan hits me again!"
"So…" The both of you start, the male clearing his throat when you didn't open your mouth to speak.
"Uh, you go first." He gestured towards you as you shook your head.
"Tooru asked me to listen. Now, talk. I still have to help Kiyoko and Hitoka in handling the boys." Iwaizumi nodded, realizing what little time he had to explain.
"Right." He began, rubbing the back of his head, "Oikawa told me everything… that happened that day.
• • •
You have been meeting up with Oikawa for the past few days now. You planned on surprising him on your third anniversary and with his best friend's help, you knew he'd like it, especially if he and his team win against Shiratorizawa. Well, you want your team to win too, but can't choose which side you'd support so, you decided that whoever wins would avenge the other.
Aoba Johsai lost.
His team lost and you stood there at the balcony crying your tears out, both in frustration and happiness. The latter because of your team and the former for the loss. You excused yourself, looking for any of the third years in the team. And you happen to stumble upon Oikawa.
"Tooru!" You shouted, running towards the setter.
"(y/n)? Shouldn't you be with your team?" He asked, looking around for the crows. Or at least, his little rival other than Ushijima Wakatoshi.
"They'll understand why I left. But most importantly, how are the two of you? How's Hajime?" It was your turn to look for your boyfriend.
"I'm… not sure. Iwa-chan's probably with Mattsun and Makki. The others should be together." You nodded, grasping both of his hands in yours.
"I'm sorry for what happened, you were all really great! I promise we'll beat up Ushiwaka's ass for you two!" You declared, earning a chuckle from him.
"It's fine, (y/n)-chan." Oikawa ruffled your hair once you released his hands before remembering something, "Hey, why don't you give your present to him, I'm sure he'd like it especially when you've been at it for weeks. Isn't it your anniversary today? It'll help him a lot." You hugged the man in front of you, appreciating the help and support he has given you.
"I hope so. Ah well, thanks again for the help Tooru, I really appreciate it. I'm happy that Hajime has a friend like--" You were then cut off by a shout, your name echoing throughout the hall.
"(y/n)!!"
"Hajime! Great timing! I've got something--” You rushed towards him and was about to give him a hug when the look on his face made you stop.
“No. You don’t have to. I can see it perfectly clear.” Iwaizumi said as your brows furrowed.
“What do you mean?” You asked, glancing at the other two third-years behind him who only shrugged.
“What do I mean?! I should have known that you liked Oikawa from the start! We lost the game and the first person you went to find was him!? Unbelievable (y/n), unbelievable!” He bellowed, glaring at the two of you. His eyes were clouded with grief from losing and seeing you with his best friend triggered something he didn't want inside of him.
“W-what? That’s not true. Look, I just managed to bump into him and--” He cut you off again, his hands clenched tightly.
"Yeah okay, blame it on that!"
“Hey Iwaizumi, I think you should calm down a bit.” Hanamaki joined in, placing a hand on the shoulder of their vice-captain.
“Yeah, they were just talking. (y/n) was probably comforting him and asking for you.” Matsukawa added, getting ready to help his best friend if Iwaizumi ever decides to punch away his anger.
“Bullshit! I know what I saw! How do you explain those past few days huh?! I wanted to ask you out before the Interhigh and it so happened that I saw the two of you together. I ignored it because I trusted you!” He held back, not to get him and his team kicked out and bring shame to the school in his final year. Though it was painful, he knew he needed to get rid of it verbally, "If you wanted him then you should have said so from the start! I would have understood. So, I'm letting you go. That's what you want right? To be free from me?!"
"H-hey now, you don't mean that right? Why don't we take a seat a-and we'll talk this out, yeah?" You offered, walking towards him cautiously.
"Talk? You still want to talk?!! I'm done (y/n), okay!? Just leave me alone! I never want to see you ever again!" He lashes out, his emotions controlling every bit of his sanity.
“Idiot! You’re a total idiot!!” You screamed at him, closing your eyes in an attempt to stop the tears from falling. You don't want to let him see how weak he's making you, not in a situation like this.
“How did I become--!!”
“I asked Tooru to help me think up an idea for the gift I wanted to give you for our anniversary. He’s your best friend so I thought it was okay and that he’d be able to keep a secret. But surprise, surprise, you don’t like that kind of thing. You don’t need to be jealous of someone I don’t have feelings for! But hey, I guess you don’t trust me like you say you do!” Shuffling through your bag, you pushed an Aegean hued scarf with Olive colored horizontal lines near the fringe, “Here, take it. Burn it for all I care. We’re done.”
'Did she..? No wait, don't move. I'm sorry..' He thought, he couldn't voice the words out and even if he did, the damage was already done, 'Why can't I…? (y/n) please, let's talk…'
"Goodbye, Haji-- no, Iwaizumi-san…" Saying his last name added salt, tons of it, to the biggest wound ever inflicted on your heart. And on his too.
'I said don't go..! I can't reach you if you do. I can't feel myself, please don't go.' Again, the words wouldn't dare leave his mouth as he was also afraid that he'd say something wrong. He didn't dare blink, wanting to still see your figure within his vision, 'Let me see those hands again, I'll kiss it all better. Just don't leave me…'
"Oi, Oikawa!!" Suddenly he was on the floor with a bruised cheek and an angry setter in front of him, being held back by the other two they were with. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"I get it that you're like that towards me but (y/n) didn't do anything wrong! She asked me for what you wanted and this is the thanks she gets!?" His grip on his collar was tight as he was still able to get close to him despite being held down by two of their friends, "You saw those bandages on her hands right? Well, she made that scarf all by herself just for you! She did that despite knowing nothing about knitting!"
"I…" He started but, as if you were still there, the words he so wanted to stay retreated back down his throat.
"What!? You what, Iwaizumi!!?" Oikawa snapped, almost on the brink of insanity like how Iwaizumi was before you left, "Got anymore bad things to say about her!?!"
"Zip it, will you?! I know that she didn't do anything wrong! It's just my fucked up and tired self making all the excuses!" He looked down, burying his face in his hands.
"Y-you could still run after her. I'm sure she'd--" One of them said, patting his back.
"She won't. Six years and never did she go against her word once she's made up her mind. It'll take a shit load of convincing but, I doubt she'd want me back." He gave out a huff, walking away until his best friend stopped him.
"Then you've just got to be stubborn like usual and try your best." Oikawa spoke, pumping the depressed Iwaizumi up.
"Huh? Ah, y-yeah…"
• • •
"How long has it been since you last slept?" You asked him, caressing his cheeks with your thumb as he leaned into your touch.
"What?" He blinked a couple of times before sighing, "I slept, maybe for just a few hours before waking up again because every time I close my eyes, that face you gave me that day keeps coming back to me and…"
"And?" He didn't want to tell you but, this would be the chance that he couldn't take hold of on that day.
"And there's this stupid scene that keeps playing in my dreams, during that fight we had, you left and when I saw you again, you were so happy with someone else and that broke me." He wanted to cry but all he could do was ball his fists with his brows furrowed in anger. Anger towards himself and his stupid decisions, "My last words to you that day was to leave me alone. That I never wanted to see you again. But, I was wrong. I still want you here by my side. I still want to see you. I still want to hear your voice every morning after I wake up and every night before I sleep just like before."
"Iwaizumi…" You started but your words just went in one ear and out the other as he continued.
"What I'm saying is, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I fucked up. That my jealousy got in between the two of us. It was dumb of me and Oikawa's supposed to be the childish one." He chuckled bitterly, mostly to himself. Now that he spoke his mind, it was silly of him to feel that way. To feel, was it inferiority? "I guess I still wasn't used to being the one getting the attention instead of him who's always surrounded by fangirls everywhere. Or believe in the idea of someone who would actually love me and not use me just to get to him."
"Iwaizumi, never in my life was I attracted to him. You know that right? I told you this once before." He held both of your hands, placing the other on his cheek. It was as if he was touch deprived and wanted to make up for the times he was away from you.
"I know. It's just that… letting you go that day was the hardest thing I've ever done. I couldn't even stop you, I just stayed there. I tried, believe me, I tried but I couldn't. I wanted to make you stay. But losing my last game in high school and all my emotions were over the place that it took a toll on me." Iwaizumi admitted. Sighing for who knows how many times now.
"It's okay. I understand." He stared at you, confusion written all over his face.
"No, you don't! I'm not blaming this on my loss. I'm blaming this on myself, for doubting you. You've been loving me so right despite studying in different schools and all I did was hurt you! Days after we broke up, I've been feeding myself these useless reasons not to see you, telling myself that you're mad at me and that you don't need me anymore. I'm sorry. Please hate me…" He was crying, he didn't care anymore if anyone saw him so… vulnerable. You wiped it all away, a smile on your lips.
"Hajime." You started. It was the first time in weeks since he last heard you say his name, "I love you."
"W-what?" These words were the least he expected to come out of your mouth but, he wasn't complaining either.
"You heard me. I love you." You repeated before you giggled, "Sure yeah, you were totally an ass for not listening to me but it doesn't change the fact that I still love you. And I also heard from Tooru that you haven't been like yourself since that day, my fault entirely. I should have thought about what your reaction would be.
"You know… I tried to come up with tons of reasons to just give up, so we both wouldn't have to hurt like this. It would have been easier for both of us. But, I can't. I don't want things to be easy between us. Everything you do makes me fall for you over and over, deeper than the last time. And hearing you say that you still love me, makes me realize that I should have tried even harder." Iwaizumi hugged you tightly, afraid that this was all a dream and was about to wake up. Or was he going soft just for you? Because it was obviously not because of Oikawa.
"So, what do you want to happen to us? What's your call?" You asked looking up at him.
“What’s this? Are you two okay now?” The childish devil on Iwaizumi's shoulder popped in between the two of you, “You are! That’s great! I’ll tell them right now--!”
“You, hanger bastard! I’ll beat you up--” He was about to give Oikawa a piece of his mind when he heard your voice echo in his ear.
“Hanger bastard? What’s with the new insult?” You laughed out loud, the wing spiker smiled, missing the sound, "Where'd you get that?"
"I'll tell you tomorrow, I'm sure Mattsun and Makki want to get a say in this too." He suggested, receiving a nod from you.
"Hey Iwa-chan, you guys don't have to diss me every time you get jealous!!" Iwaizumi scoffed, ignoring the setter.
"Anyways, I'll fetch and take you home after practice. We've got a lot of catching up to do." He offered, intertwining both of your fingers together, “We can even start now, I’ll walk you to Karasuno.”
"I'd like that, Hajime."

You hide in Kuroo's chest, he completely unashamed brings you away and says "Let's go home, I can't wait". WORSHIP THE CULT OF KUROO THE SEX GOD!!

Iwazumi was at practice, he wasn't even giving attention to anything, his mind was elsewhere. Today he saw you secretly talking with Oikawa. He trusted both of you but couldn't help himself but feel jealous. He decided to ignore the feeling but when practice ended and Oikawa saied "Oi Iwa-chan are you going..." Iwazumi reply a "Fuck-off Assikawa" without letting him finish and going away. He looked for you everywhere and when he finds you, he brings you without saying a word. Walking towards home you finally ask "Hajime, can you please talk with me and tell me what happened?" he gives you a death glare" Maybe it's you that have to explain something. What were you talking about with Oikawa this morning?". At his statement you blush furiously and bring him inside your house "I'll show you" you say. Oikawa arrives at your house, knocking repeatdly at your door, he receives no answer and decide to enter to leave what you asked him. When he arrived, he sees the door of your room opened and there lies a completely naked Iwazumi with blindfold and handcuffs, he chuckles and when he sees you on the door of the bathroom with a just towel he calmly say "Hey Y/N-chan here the full intimate you asked me, goodbye Iwa-chan". Iwazumi flustered yells "Trashikawa, get your ass out of here and let me be".

You had a very busy schedule for last exams and you and Osamu didn't see each other alone for two weeks. Two stressful weeks without having sex, he hadn't the same desire of his brother who brought everyday someone, but nonetheless he was a teenager with hormones and stamina. He decided that he couldn't wait anymore and text you saying if you could pass by his home after finishing your exams. When you see his text you reply "Sure Samu, can't wait to see you! I'll be there at 7 PM." Osamu smiled reading your message, he decided to take a shower before you arrive and prepare some onigiri for you since you would be starving. Finally the hour arrived and Osamu hears the doorbell and runs to open you "Hey Y/N, I missed you!" you enter and smile and he says "I prepared you...wait Y/N" you take the lead and start to kiss him on the living room's floor "I want you now Samu!" with that he smirks and brings you to his room. You were already naked and he was taking his time with you , the third orgasm took you and without any strenght you whisper "S-Samu please f-fuck me". He was going to put is aching cock inside your pussy when someone barged into his room. Atsumu making out with one of his fan girls thinking it was his room "CAN YOU GET OUT OF MY FUCKING ROOM AND HOUSE AND LET ME FUCK MY GIRLFRIEND WITHOUT YOU BUSTING MY BALLS" Osamu yelled. Atsumu replied smiling "Oh hey Y/N, sorry Samu I'll just leave". Your only reply "Bye Tsumu" and Osamu glared you and starts to fuck you without mercy.

Love Letter
Iwaizumi Hajime x GN! Reader
Genre: Fluff, angst if you squint
Warnings: a few curse words
this one came out longer than expected and i honestly didn't know how to cut it short XP anyways enjoy this fluffy fluff with our iwa chan. i finished it early so i posted it. not beta-read (again) constructive criticism is accepted.
Tumblr media
Hajime had a crush. Not that he would ever accept it. But, still the fact that he did have a crush would not change. And he hated it.
He hated how his throat closed up whenever he tried to talk to you. Hated the way his hands sweat profusely when he was near you. He hated everything about this.
He thought ignoring you and pretending you didn't exist would make his crush go away. But, how could he ignore you when you were in the same class as him and sat right across from him.
Hajime always caught himself looking at you in between lectures. And now, he had to force himself to look away from you and concentrate in class.
The teacher was talking about a project and said that she would assign everyone in groups of two. Hajime groaned inwardly at the mention of group projects. He had always preferred to work alone.
The teacher was now calling out students' names and their partners. "Iwaizumi and L/N," she announced.
He did a double take and stared at his teacher, wide eyed. Surely he had heard that wrong, right? There was no way you were his partner, right?
His thoughts came to a stop when you turned to look at him. You smiled politely at him. Though it was nothing special, Hajime felt his heart beating faster. His face felt hot when he smiled back at you. You were gonna be the end of him.
"Shut up Shittykawa!" Hajime barked at his best-friend, Oikawa. He was rambling on and on about how popular he was and how many girls were head over heels for him. Hajime had heard this enough times for it to be etched in his mind.
His hand clutched the small piece of paper in his hand which had your phone number scribbled in it. The two of you had exchanged numbers and had agreed to meet up at your house to work on the project. He felt his face heat up again and cursed silently.
"Iwa-chan! I need to use the restroom. Don't leave without me," Oikawa said, already on his way.
Hajime sighed and stood outside their gym. If Oikawa didn't come back within two minutes, he thought, I'm leave his things here and go back home.
"Um, excuse me."
He heard a shy voice from behind him. He turned and saw a red-faced girl clutching what suspiciously looked like a love letter. Oh, how much Hajime hated love letters. He thought they were sappy and ugly, what with the hearts drawn everywhere. He had threatened to burn all the letters Oikawa had kept stashed in his room if he had to deliver one more sappy letter to him. Say goodbye to your letters, Assikawa, Hajime thought.
"It's for Oikawa, right?" He asked. This was nothing out of the ordinary for him.
"Y-Yes! Please give it to him!" She shoved the letter into his hands and ran away to her friend who was smirking wildly.
Everyone liked Oikawa, no doubt. He was handsome and charming but with a shitty personality that only Hajime and their close friends knew. But, that was not what he was worried about. He was worried that you would choose Oikawa instead of him. Everyone always did that.
Your room was the perfect definition of 'organized mess'. There were books and papers scattered on your desk and floor, a pile of clothes on your bed, and your laptop on the floor with numerous tabs open. It was a mess, but a nice mess. Hajime liked it.
Hajime was glad to have you as a partner. You were easy to work with, efficient and broad-minded.
He tried his best not to ogle you all the time, which was practically impossible since you looked so beautiful while you were focused on your work.
Your mom came in, saw all the papers strewn across the expanse of your room, gave the two of you a look, and never came back. You had laughed your head off at this and Hajime couldn't help but laugh with you too. He promised to help you clean later to which you had reluctantly agreed.
The project had turned out great. Hajime smiled proudly at his grade-an A-and decided make Oikawa jealous. You had asked him to have lunch together to which he had agreed right away.
You and Hajime had grown close during the small amount of time you had worked together. Even after finishing it, you would still call him or text him talking about anything and everything. You would even wait for his practice to end and walk home with him.
You had always been talkative around Hajime but today you were eerily silent. Your face was red, too.
"Hey," he said. "Are you sick? Do you want me to take you to the nurse's office?"
"N-No!" You stuttered, waving your hands wildly. "It's just that-that..." you trailed off.
"That what?"
You said something under your breath that Hajime couldn't make out.
Then, there was something covering his face. A piece of paper. "What the-?"
He peeled the paper away from his face and took a good look at it. Hajime's heart sank down to the pit of his stomach. It was not just a piece of paper. It was a love letter. And he knew damn well who it was for. Of course you liked Oikawa. Why had he even thought his feelings would be reciprocated. Dumb, he cursed at himself. Dumbass.
"It's for Oikawa right?" His voice came out more sad and dejected than he had expected. "I can't guarantee a reply-"
"I-It's for you!"
"-but I will give it to him," he continued.
"Don't give it to Oikawa! It's for you Iwaizumi!" You were almost yelling now.
"W-What? This"-he held up the letter-"is for me?"
Hajime was sure his brain had stopped working. You were giving him a love letter?
"Does this mean you like me?" He wanted to make sure it was true. That you were not pranking him.
"Yes!" You sounded so desperate and annoyed. He swore he could see steam rising from your head.
"Thank you!" He almost screamed. "Go out with me, please."
"Y-Yes," you agreed, trying your best to hide your red face.
Hajime's heart melted and he felt like the happiest man on earth. You liked him. Him and not Oikawa. A giddy, love-sick smile formed on his face. He felt weightless like he were floating in space. His chest felt warm.
"Iwa-chan~" Oikawa's voice brought him back. He turned to face Oikawa only to be faced with a teasing smirk. Mattsun and Makki wore similar expressions. Makki whispered something to Mattsun about Hajime getting laid, which Hajime prayed you didn't hear.
"L/N-chan, let me tell you something embarrassing about Iwa-chan," Oikawa giggled and made his way towards you.
"Crappykawa, say one word to L/N about me and I'll make sure you get a concussion during practice," Hajime barked.
You let out a fit of giggles which was soon joined by Mattsun, Makki and Oikawa himself. Hajime smiled a fond smile. He neatly placed the letter in his bag and decided to read it later, in the safety of his room. His chest still felt warm when he sat down and had lunch with the four of you. Maybe love letters aren't all that bad, Hajime thought.

how iwaoi refer to each other
my brain is dead and if i try to write fic rn i just know it won’t be coherent so have these dumb headcanons instead.
what iwaizumi calls oikawa
oikawa
when they're in front of other people, he just calls oiks by his last name
iwa isn't huge on pda (though he puts up with it from oikawa because he's sOFT for him) so he doesn't feel the need to stake a claim on oikawa in public with cutesy nicknames or whatever
he's not gonna admit it but he already knows oikawa belongs to him & vice versa so,, what's the point?
also he doesn't need to be mocked by hanamaki or matsukawa for being a sap, thanks.
shittykawa/trashykawa/crappykawa/loserkawa/assikawa/dumbass...yeah
ok i feel like iwaizumi doesn't use these insults super often, especially when they get older and more settled in their relationship
it mostly happens when he gets mad that oiks is being negative or self-deprecating or overworking himself again
sometimes he uses them teasingly when oikawa's being a brat on purpose, but he always sounds so affectionate that oikawa can't even bring himself to be offended
doesn't really use them in front of other people just because he'll fight anyone who dares to laugh when he says them. he's the only one who can insult oiks and get away with it!!
tooru
saved for intimate domestic moments, when it's just the two of them
oikawa LOVES it when they're staying home and cooking breakfast or something and iwaizumi calls him tooru without thinking twice about it (”tooru, can you pass me the salt?” or “hey, tooru, wanna go see that new movie that’s in theaters today?”)
he just says it so casually but it feels so right and oikawa melts every time
iwa loves saying it because it sounds so sweet and full on his tongue, and he thinks it suits oikawa so well
((iwaizumi loves oikawa, but he has to share him with the rest of the world. he loves that he gets tooru all to himself.))
babe/baby
similar deal. i like to think that iwa alternates between this & tooru.
happens more often when iwa isn’t fully awake
iwa likes to wrap his arms around oikawa and bury his face into his neck and mumble “g’morning, baby” with his voice still hoarse from sleep
oikawa literally can’t handle it. he combusts. it’s his favorite part of the day even though he refuses to admit it
once it slipped out in the middle of practice (iwa may have been distracted by oikawa’s smile after landing a perfect jump-serve, shut up) and matsuhana would not let it go for DAYS.
every time they saw oikawa they would be like “hey captain - oh wait, i mean babe” until iwa threatened to hurt them if they didn’t stop
pretty boy
shhhhhh let me have this
the first time it happened was on accident because iwa was just trying to make fun of oikawa
he wasn’t expecting oiks to go bright red and speechless when he said it, but it was SO funny
now he says it to tease oikawa whenever he needs to be taken down a peg. he’ll never get tired of seeing his usually polished, in-control boyfriend become a flushed, stuttering mess
oiks has no idea why it has such a big effect on him?? he knows he’s attractive & he hears it all the time from his admirers, but it’s so different to hear iwa-chan, of all people, calling him pretty.
what oikawa calls iwaizumi
iwa-chan
i couldn’t think of as many things for oiks to call iwa because iwa-chan basically covers it all??
no one else is allowed to call iwaizumi “iwa-chan,” just like no one else is allowed to call oikawa “shittykawa.”
tbh iwaizumi isn’t even sure oikawa remembers what his actual last name is at this point
whenever he hears it, iwaizumi is reminded of humid august nights catching fireflies & failed volleyball tosses in the park & sharing futons until they grew too big to fit.
it makes him think of their childhood, of growing up together, of each being the other’s first love, first everything.
they learned to love together & oikawa has changed so much, but at the same time he hasn’t, and when iwaizumi lets himself think about it he gets emotional
so he usually doesn’t think about it and just lobs a ball at oikawa’s head and tells him to shut up LMAO
hajime
oikawa probably uses iwa’s first name less often than iwa uses his
not because he doesn’t want to or because he’s uncomfortable with it, he just thinks it’s special (iwa-chan never let me call him by his first name when we were kids!) and he wants to make it special whenever he says it
iwa makes fun of him for being sentimental, but he adores the thought oiks puts into it, and he falls HARD whenever oikawa does say it.
again, it usually happens in private
oikawa will whisper it into the space between their bodies when they’re curled up together, ready for bed
he’ll say it like a prayer, hushed and reverential, because he can’t believe iwaizumi has stayed by his side, has chosen him and chosen him over and over again, all this time.
and then iwa kisses him, as if to say of course, you idiot, i’ll always choose you, and oikawa murmurs hajime, hajime, hajime into the kiss.
oh also he knows how much iwa likes when he says it & he’ll definitely use that to his advantage when he wants attention
manga spoilers under the cut!
mi cariño/mi corazón/mi amor/etc.
listen, oikawa speaking spanish to iwaizumi makes me hyperventilate
as soon as this boy knew he was moving to argentina, he went and looked up all the spanish pet names he could because he wanted to fluster iwa as much as iwa flustered him
for a solid month he was walking around san juan not knowing how to ask for directions when he got lost, but at least he knew how to say “you’re the light of my life and i love you.”
he’s also 10000000x flirtier in spanish than he is in japanese which was a surprise to everyone, including iwa, because no one really thought he could get any worse.
iwa has no idea what oiks is saying half the time, but he likes the way he says it
oiks, on the other hand, is glad iwa can’t understand him because it gives him an excuse to say as much sappy shit as he wants
picture him,, like,, kissing iwa's hand and putting it over his heart and calling him mi corazón
some linguistic liberties taken <//3 i don't speak japanese
k i'm gonna go cry over them for the next hour or two so that's all for now ♡♡

Confidence in Each Other by MasterOfNyom - Chapter 2 sneak peak
Oikawa waved him off dismissively. “I know, I won’t,” he said swiftly slipping his blue button-down off and replacing it with a turquoise t-shirt, somehow not tousling any impeccably styled strand of hair out of place . Then he smiled innocently at his friend, “Iwa-chan are you my mom?”
“Shut up Trashykawa and change!” the spiky-haired teen huffed, visibly pissed.
“Alright, alright!” Oikawa shouted exasperatedly, ducking in time to dodge a blow directed at his head. “What’s got you in such a hurry?”
“What’s got you in such a hurry, freak?” he heard one of his teammates, Ishimaru, snap at him before completely blocking off the door to the clubroom.
“Haah?! It’s you who practically run here, Assikawa!”
Suga tightened his hold on the strap of his gym bag, “Um. I just wanna change. Could you let me in?”
Ishimaru laughed darkly, “Not here. Go somewhere else weirdo.”
“Huh?” Suga exclaimed, confused, “What? Why?”
The wing spiker slouched his arms and took one step towards him, making Suga back off instinctively.
“Listen up, because I won’t say it twice. I dunno how it is in your little fairyland but here,” he waved a hand around them, “nobody wants to get ogled by a disgusting pervert like you, Sugawara.”
Suga felt his mouth gape slightly. “What are you talking about?” he asked disbelievingly, “I would never do that! Seriously, knock it off Maru.” He saw the chocolate hair of his team captain over Ishimaru’s shoulder and shouted, “Oi, Kayo! Do something with this idiot. This is ridiculous!”
He felt something push hard at his chest, making him lose his balance and tumble to the floor. He looked up only to be met with his teammate scowling at him.
“I warned you Sugawara. C’mon. Go. Somewhere. Else,” he spat out, punctuating every word and then disappearing into the clubroom.
The last thing Suga saw was Kayo standing there, saying, “I’ll see you at the gym,” before closing the door right in front of his face.
Is this drama I’m seeing? Hm? And what are those names Nyom, who are these people?
*laughs maniacally* why don’t you check it out soon, hm?
Check out the new chapter of CEO coming on the platform in the next 24h! And for those of you, who haven’t read the first chapter yet (or perhaps had, but didn’t click on that subscribe button) here’s the link to chapter 1:  Up for a Challenge

Hajime doesn’t know why, but he couldn’t tear his eyes away from Tsukki. There was just something in him that made Hajime’s heart pang, something that Tsukki had, but he just couldn’t pinpoint the source of misery.
Then.
Then.
Then the crown prince leant down and pressed their foreheads together and sighed. It was a breathless relief, an honest and raw reaction. Hajime felt the rush of blood colour his cheeks instantly as he hastily tore his gaze away from the nuzzling couple. He heard a low indecipherable murmur, undoubtedly the crown prince's rough and gravely voice.
“You will be the death of me, Kei…”
There was a lighter, snarky yet still soft reply.
“I better be.”

I see no god up here other than me
Nishinoya- My favorite character. My guy. The rolling thunder. The absolute madlad. I just love him, what else can I say? I was supposed to make it to his canon height (5′2), but I never even made it there, so I am officially shorter than Nishinoya Yu.
Tadashi- He’s so cute. He’s going to be the next team mom after Suga leaves and I absolutely cannot wait. He’s just so adorable and I love his freckles.
Suga- Team mom, what else can I say? I can relate.
Oikawa- Mmm, he’s cute and not in the same was as Tadashi. I know it’s typical, but it’s also accurate. If you don’t think Oikawa’s a stud, then you’re wrong. Also, his intimidation talk is so attractive.
Kenma- :3
Akaashi- His dynamic with Bokuto is hilarious. I absolutely adore their relationship. I just can’t resist laughing everytime Akaashi essentially says, “Go home, Bokuto, you’re drunk.”
You’re the best
Bokuto- Fun story: I saw that season three was going to be dubbed (yes, I watch the dub, fight me) and I got super excited and immediately looked to see who Bokuto’s voice actor was going to be. When I saw that it was Ian Sinclair, I got really excited and screamed. However, I’m really dumb, because Bokuto was in season 2, and I just didn’t notice his voice. Way to go, me.
Iwa-chan- Shittykawa. Assikawa. Trashykawa.
Akiteru- I named the main character in my story after him. Plus, he’s pretty cute.
Lev- Tol bean.
Saeko- She’s so great and such a good big sister. However, I would not like to be in a car with her.
Hey, I think you’re pretty cool, I like you a lot
Tendo- He’s funny sometimes, I guess.
Aone- Shouyo Hinata protection squad, Kageyama move over.
Takeda- He taught me everything I know about volleyball.
Yachi- Aww, what a cutie.
Kiyoko- Calm and collected. And super hot.
Hinata- He’s the main character. Yep. That’s it.
Ukai- Sorry, sensei, you didn’t stick out to me all that much.
Kageyama- Nic, niff, nife, knife, nnnice.
I remember you
Dadchi- Very dad. Very stern.
Tsukki- Cute around Tadashi, just a tsundere around everyone else.
Asahi- Scaredy-cat tough guy.
Kuroo- Very cat dad. Very cat stern.
Ennoshita- Yeah. He existed.
Tanaka- Very loud. Could do without.
Ushijima- You should’ve come to Shiratorizawa.
Futakuchi- I literally remembered he existed today since his birthday was yesterday.
Then there’s that one guy that I don’t remember. I know who he is, but barely, and I don’t know like, anything about him, so I’m choosing to ignore his existence.
Final favorite characters list:
1. Nishinoya Yuu
2. Tadashi Yamaguchi
3. Sugwara Koushi
4. Oikawa Tooru and Morisuke Yaku
5. Kenma Kozume and Akaashi Keiji

absence | oikawa tooru x reader
Title: Absence Fandom: Haikyuu!! Character: Oikawa Tooru Genre: Angst Word Count: 3289 Extra Info: College!AU  Written early 2017. Crossposted on dA.
You hadn’t seen him in over a week when you spotted him.
He was leaning against the wall outside his class, laughing about some joke with his friends carelessly. That false smile that he always had ready to display whenever someone said something even remotely interesting. The sort that conveyed happiness, but it never allowed his eyes to crinkle or stretch fully across his face.
It was as though his face was an abundance of masks he could hold up at any given time to convey just the right amount of emotion to derive from the truth. And the most used mask was the smile. The sort that derived from any sort of problem he was facing. You couldn’t deny it, he’d fooled you enough times with that smile.
He looked typical. A navy blue duffle coat that was half-buttoned, his cowlicked chocolate locks falling in inconsistent loops over his eyes. His amber brown eyes were half lidded, as though he were half-awake, and hidden behind black-framed glasses that accentuated the honey tint to his eyes. His eyes flickered as he caught sight of you.
“Hey, (Y/N)-chan!” he called out when you walked past him, and you raised your eyebrows at the brunet you called your boyfriend.
There were times when you wondered why he was your boyfriend. After all, the lack of communication between you two was poor at best. When had been the last time you’d sat through a half an hour conversation with the boy? You struggled to find a date, your mind ransacking through the bunch of memories you’d spent with him. A large majority of the things you’d planned had been called off, followed by a plethora of excuses and apologies. Of course, the, ‘I love you, maybe next time?’ line hadn’t gone amiss, either. There hadn’t ever been a next time.
“What, Oikawa?” you asked, not intending for your voice to sound as bitterly irritated as it did.
He halted to a stop right in front of you, blinking at your tone before he replaced his blank face with yet another smile. Another falsely sculpted grin that sat upon his face.
“I have to talk to you, in private,” he lowered his voice a few decibels, which shocked you, and you narrowed your eyes at the tall male.
“Why not here?” you asked, trying your best to remain indifferent to his lowered voice.
“Look- meet me outside this building at the end of class, alright?” he looked at you, and you didn’t know how to respond.
“Sure,” you shrugged, nonchalantly, as though he’d just asked you to pass the table salt.
He looked at you warily before he retreated back to the line that was accumulating outside his classroom. Smile intact, laughing loudly about something someone had said. Oikawa was always good at pleasing others. Pleasantries were always a speciality of his, after all. You rolled your eyes, pondering once more why you were with him.
He hadn’t even attempted ringing you over the past week, and you hadn’t seen him in any of the classes you shared. You sent him texts occasionally, but he hadn’t replied to any of them. What was the big deal about talking to him now, when all week he’d been ignoring you?
Does he really think I can be ignored all the time? That he can choose whenever he wants to talk to me then ignore me the other times? You asked yourself. Is that what people do to their partners? You shook your head, hugging your books close to your chest as you picked up your pace.
Two can play at that game, Oikawa.
What was the chance he’d even turn up, anyway?
+++
Plumes of white air escaped his lips as he clenched his gloved hands in his pocket. Where were you?
You were punctual. You’d never liked to be late. You and Iwaizumi always had a field day whenever you’d lectured him back in high school due to his tardiness. He frowned, gazing at the watch strapped to his slender wrist, the digital numbers glowed back at him. Like they were mocking him. Class had ended five minutes ago.
Perhaps your professor had kept you behind? He shrugged away his thoughts, leaning against the wall and nodding to familiar faces as they strolled past. Not one of them was a face belonging to your own, though. He began to worry for your wellbeing as his eyes rested on the rather large clock tower that dominated the campus’s skyline, dwarfing all the other buildings.
It was cold despite it only being four o’clock in the afternoon, and the sun was already beginning its slow descension below the horizon. Shuffling its way behind the tall buildings of Tokyo to hide its tracks from humankind. He bit his chapped lips, shrinking himself inside his warm duffle coat to prolong the warmth that he felt. The warmth that was slowly seeping out of him, disintegrating into the cool air that rested everywhere.
Time slipped by, five minutes dissolved into ten. Then fifteen. Then twenty. He was stood, waiting outside the building, kicking at flyaway pieces of gravel that lay on the ground. Why weren’t you there?
He brought out his phone, spying the message that lay on his notification lockscreen. At the top.
[Y/N] - sent 2 minutes ago: Sorry, I can’t come today. Maybe again some other time? Love you xx
He frowned at the message, trying to pinpoint the emotion you were conveying through the message. You never spoke like that. So formal. What was with the kisses you’d placed at the end? He wanted to sigh, tapping out a reply. He felt as though you’d been sarcastic, that was a main attribute of your personality, your blunt sarcasm that rose at every opportunity.
But why?
Oikawa: It’s okay, (Y/N). I need to talk to you today, so I’ll just come around~
Texting, after all, masked every emotions imaginable. There was no proper way to decipher between a raging person and a person who’d just forgot they were using upper case. Regardless, he was unsure of how long he had left. So he pushed himself off the wall he was leaning against and began the treck towards your dorm. Damn, was he tired.
+++
“Oikawa, I’m busy studying. You should be, too. Exams don’t wait for people, not even pretty setter boys,” you deadpanned when he waltzed into your room, greeting you with a hug that was both warm and cold, as though he’d brought all the rough winter weather with him.
“Studying can wait, us talking cannot,” he declared, flopping onto your bed and looking at you with a placid grin on his face.
You couldn’t tell whether it was genuine or fake.
“What do you want, Assikawa?” you sighed, exasperated. You’d just gotten into the mood for studying.
“Why didn’t you come to talk with me?” he asked, crossing his legs and bouncing his body on your mattress like an excited young child.
“Off, you’ll break my damned bed in a minute. I’m studying. What do you want?” your words were cropped and tight, your tongue sharpening each syllable in a way that made Oikawa simmer down slightly. He slid off your bed, falling onto your floor.
A low, small sigh left his parted lips as he closed his eyes, lifting his manicured fingers and sliding them through his gorgeously kept locks. Only then did you notice the faint, panda-like circles that sat under his eyes, the way the collar of his coat was just slightly crooked. The downward tilt of his lips, as though they’d been settled into a permanent frown that made every single one of his smiles seem ever so slightly faked.
“Well, I wanted to… I’m going to go to Miyagi,” he said, simply, his voice plain as the evening that was beginning to settle in just outside your room.
“Hmm? For a trip? Did you get a lift or…?” you looked at him, and his eyes were concentrated on your wall, refusing to even glance at you.
“I’m going home,” he said, his voice powerful yet small at the same time in a way you’d never heard.
You bit your lip, his words registering in your brain like an unwanted virus. Like a plague of wasps that you wanted to bat away, but were too scared to for fear that they’d all turn on you and attack you. Sting you one by one. But that irritation that you’d hadn’t tamed from before, an irritation at his apparent impertinence towards your relationship, tapped you on the back. An irritation that you allowed to take control of your voice as you began to speak.
“So… that’s it, is it? Why the hell are you doing that, Oikawa?” you asked, and his eyes flitted to yours, showing remorse that almost overruled your irritation. But it clung to you like a magnet to a piece of metal.
“I-”
“No, seriously. You never talk to me, I haven’t even seen you in over a week, Oikawa. Then you waltz into my room when I’m busy, you decide it’s the perfect time to come and tell me that I’m not going to see you again until break, when I’m finally going home, and you think that’s all fine and dandy? Because the world just has to stop for you, doesn’t it Oikawa? Sorry, I forgot you could do whatever you want to anyone and get away with it.”
You shot him a glare that caused him to cringe, and he cleared his throat, preparing to protest.
“Look, (Y/N)-chan it’s-”
“Well, tell your parents that I said hello. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do. Productive stuff. Because some of us can’t ditch our studies and actually have tests and grades to work for.”
You pushed him out of the room, kicking the door shut behind you. It let out a large slam, right on Oikawa’s slumped figure, but you didn’t care. The slam caused the entire doorframe to shudder from the impact, and you slid to the floor, feeling your racing heartbeat climb up your throat. You wanted to apologise, to take back your words and hug him. To kiss him goodbye and allow him to talk to you, to tell you what he was going to say before you’d interrupted.
You chewed at a hangnail. Oikawa had always been like that. Dumping random information on you at sporadic intervals. He’d go from not telling you anything in a month to telling you a large secret, or a long-winded rant about whatever was on his mind. He had a habit of swinging from one extreme to another, much like a monkey swings from one vine to another.
You tried to placate your racing heartbeat. He’d always been like that. Perhaps he deserved to learn a lesson.

The end of the school year crawled around, and you soon found yourself climbing out of your parents’ car. They’d picked you up at the train station, and you’d never been more grateful to be able to slide into the leather of the car, to let them take care of the heavy baggage you carried behind you. Spring break had finally come upon you.
“So, (Y/N), what does it feel like to be home?” your mother asked, exiting the car and smiling at you as you practically sprinted up the pathway to your front door.
“Best. Feeling. Ever!” you exclaimed happily as you rushed back to the car, getting your suitcase from the trunk of the car.
When you turned, you caught a glimpse of Oikawa’s nephew. He was walking with his head bent slightly, his feet barely skimming the ground as he walked. You paused for a brief second. You hadn’t heard a word from the bright setter since the day you’d pushed him out of your room. You seemed to be so busy, too busy to inquire after him. You’d assumed he’d just resumed a normal life in Miyagi, and your relationship had gone to a standstill. The lack of communication had caused an impasse in your relationship.
Your parents caught the gaze you’d cast towards the boy, and they looked at one another. You didn’t miss the brief exchange.
“How’s Oikawa?” you asked casually, as though you were asking about the weather.
Your parents said nothing, both choosing to act as though they hadn’t heard you. This confused you to no end, but you didn’t create a fuss, lugging your bags to the house and then dragging them up the stairs to your room. There was a silence when you went back downstairs, your parents were working in harmony as they began to cook dinner.
There were traces of tension resting in the atmosphere, and you felt as though you were obliged to tread lightly. As though the kitchen were a minefield. You frowned, slipping onto one of the kitchen chairs and observing your parents.
The silence was migraine-inducing, and you rubbed at your temple. Your parents were quietly humming to themselves, a low buzz that grated on your hearing like a swarm of bees. So you stood up, going to the front door.
“Where are you off to?” your mother asked, and you shrugged.
“I’m going to go look around, places change in small amounts of time, you know.”

You’d always appreciated the vibrant cherry blossoms that stained the ground, like a softer version of snow that had been tinted pink. You looked up at the calmly swaying trees, and you felt like dancing around the entire pathway of the park. That was, until you spied a certain somebody sitting on the bench. He was observing the young boy you’d seen before, Takeru, run around the playground. A small smile rested on his face, and at first, you didn’t recognise him.
For his once filled cheeks were hollowed, and his eyes that were hidden behind thick lenses were now dimmed and darkened. What you’d noted as faint circles around his eyes were now prominent features on his face, dark rings that emphasised his fatigue. His usually colourful cheeks were greyed, as though he lacked any semblance of life at all.
His eyes travelled around, and they eventually met your own open wide ones. You wanted to look away, hide your embarrassment, but you couldn’t. You felt a desire to go over to the boy whom you’d fallen for over the years, to see what had happened. He gestured you over, and you obliged. Not wanting to even breathe wrong.
There was a pang of remorse as you sat next to his seemingly fragile figure, still wearing the dark navy blue duffle that you’d last seen him in. Despite the warm breeze of spring, he was dressed as though it was the middle of winter.
“Hey, (Y/N)-chan,” he grinned, an actual grin.
One that made the corners of his dark eyes crinkle, one that seemed to accentuate the high, sharp cheekbones he had. It added a slight rouge to his cheeks, and you observed his weakened state. You wanted to ask questions, but you didn’t know what to say. So you just sat, hands folded in your lap as you looked at the boy.
“Hi,” you said, “how have you been?” it felt like something of a mockery to ask him, but you couldn’t think of any other words to say.
He chuckled at the sheer irony, “I’ve been good,”
“Good…” you trailed off, “it’s good to see you again. It’s been a while,”
“Yeah. How’s college?” he asked, and you frowned.
You remembered how irritated you’d been at him for leaving. You thought he’d been cocky, wanting to jump straight into the world with no regard of what lay ahead. You’d pushed him away before he’d had a chance to explain, and now he was sat with you. On this bench. You found your mind reiterating your own words, chanting them like a mantra.
“Places change in small amounts of time, you know.”
So did people, it seemed.
“Aren’t you going to ask what happened to me?” he asked, turning to face you as though he was demanding your attention.
“I-”
“It’s fine, (Y/N)-chan. We’ve never really had secrets,” he leaned back, as though he was truly comfortable with you, “I just got unlucky. Remember during the Christmas break when I had that fever? I couldn’t see you at New Year’s, that one.”
You nodded silently.
“I’d had a few before it, I just thought it was a really persistent bug. After new year’s, it went away, so I thought nothing of it. But then I kept… I don’t know, I was tired. I was sick constantly, and I kept getting nosebleeds and well- one thing lead to another, and I had to go to the doctor’s. They told me to go home, where they’d run more tests, and…”
“I’m sorry,” you said, looking at Takeru, you couldn’t bare to face him.
He’d stopped, talking to a boy on the slide about something and laughing.
“You didn’t know. I was just unlucky,”
“No. I’m sorry for not listening to you. For not being there for you, Tooru,” you could feel your voice breaking as you spoke, every syllable strained your throat, “I pushed you out. I didn’t know because I didn’t let you tell me,”
He didn’t know what to say, so he offered you a weak smile. He snaked a slender, fragile arm around your shoulder, and you wanted to cry. Cry because you’d neglected him all these months, because you’d blamed him for being sick. You’d been so irritated, so wrapped up in your own aggravation towards him that you hadn’t bothered asking what was wrong. Whether he needed anything, whether he wanted any help. You’d just thought he was being cocky. He was thinking he was better than anyone else.
“I’m sorry,” you said, “I’ll… I promise I’ll never do that again, okay? I’m here for you,” you wrapped your own arms around him, awkwardly hugging him, careful and gentle. As though he were a box that had ‘handle with care’ stamped in bold red all around its perimeter.
“You’re so strong, you can beat this, yeah?” you smiled at him, and he smiled back once more.
Another genuine smile.

That was the last one he’d given you. The last one you’d seen plastered across his face up until today. Today, when you’d trudged downstairs in the morning and had begun to shovel your cereal into your mouth. Wordless, silent. It was as though your entire house had been turned into a castle of glass, too fragile to even speak in for fear that the reverberations from your voice would cause the entire building to shatter into a million pieces.
The newspaper was on the breakfast bar, right opposite from where you were sat. You hadn’t said a word as your mother began to skim through the paper, impatiently casting it aside when she hadn’t felt anything of quality was to be found in the local paper. After all, it was a day too late. Word of tongue spread like wildfire.
You hadn’t said a word when his eyes had caught yours, watching from the paper as though he were piercing your soul with his eyes. His eyes that had been printed onto paper. There were no words, and you just stared on, as though he were still alive. As though he’d materialised into the seat opposite from you, and he was just having a staring contest with you.
You didn’t say a word as your eyes skimmed the lettering that had been the headline.
