HISTORY

Seojun was born five years after the war ended, in a time where peace seemed far less of a façade.

His father worked long hours in the factory and his mother stayed at home with the children (Seojun & his two sisters), so all of their money went on feeding and clothing the family with whatever they could get.

When he was five years old, his parents took him to Solspire's 10 year celebration of the end of the war. Seojun had never seen so much colour, so much life, so much... opulence. He was absolutely enthralled by the idea of Solspire, believing it to be the true great city that it marketed itself as. He wanted that life, those riches.

As he grew up he would sneak into the city often to marvel at it, but he did not receive the welcome that his family had on the day of the celebration. People would look down at him, mutter under their breath, turn their noses up. Judge him.

Seojun realised that their cities were so, so much different after all, in ways that went so much deeper than class and appearance. So he stopped idolising Solspire, and started taking from it instead.

He'd pickpocket and steal from wherever and whoever he could, turning them in to the fence at the pawn shop who started to take an interest in his slippery capabilities and started involving him in larger scale jobs that the gangs were undertaking.

His family didn't approve of where his money was coming from since they had always made an honest living, but Seojun decided that his true family were the ones that accepted him for what he was. He used the alias Atlas for his 'work', and it soon stuck.

Seojun became closely entangled with Ryder, at first as a businessman but then as something far more intimate than that.

The pair were together for years, but after Ryder decided to leave the Watchers behind him to try and live a quiet life, their relationship started to fall apart.

Seojun wanted more, he couldn't give up on Lunemire like Ryder had, and ultimately their differences were too great for the score between them to be settled.

After everything fell apart, Seojun followed his desires. He became Leader of the Mire Rats since he couldn't make his way up in the Watchers, his skills unquestionable and his leadership harsh but lucrative. He may or may not have gone a little off the rails but if you stay on his good side you'll be fine (probably).

Ultimately he wants Lunemire's independence, but it is for no altruistic reason. He wishes to gain control, to lead their city into the future.

HEADCANONS

He will only accept being referred to as Atlas nowadays, leaving 'Seojun' behind him since there was too much history with that name.

He has a loyal right hand person (his second in command), who has stuck by him for many years. Though he isn't the affectionate type, especially nowadays, he does hold them dear to him. (connection on the main — taken!)

Atlas is totally getting off on all of the drama between Solspire and Lunemire right now, and definitely wants to meddle in it more.

If he could have chosen, he would have been leader of the Watchers since that position seems to hold more power in Lunemire. So if that's your character, you better watch your head.

He is a charming man who knows how to manipulate to get what he wants, a true snake. Because of this he likely has many allies, but also those who don't like or trust him.

no way is that ATLAS RICHARDSON.. they’re a 28 29-year-old SYNTH notoriously known for being ROWDY & GULLIBLE but there are some people who have seen them being CONFIDENT & UNINHIBITED. if you ask me, they remind me a lot of forgiving others is a second nature, loyalty beyond compare and sharing an affection amongst friends but that could just be because they’re considered the SLEEPWALKER around town. just keep an eye on them & see if their true colors shine through..

additional information

atlas is actually 29 but both him and ira think he's 28 and was made a year after the other. their parents feel like the lie was too late to tell them so he's a year younger than he actually is and was just never told otherwise.

he was a troublemaker/a bit of a reckless kid and his dad would take him in the middle of the night to get reprogrammed but it never really worked and he just kept ended up being his usual self.

their dad was not a nice man, mostly to atlas for whatever reason and in his teenage years he developed a habit of sleepwalking

when he was 17 during a sleepwalking incident he unknowingly killed his father and before his could wake up his mom took the weapon and decided at that point she was going to take the fall for it

to this day he doesn't know he was the one who actually did it and sometimes gets suspicious about it because his mom was never violent before but both her and ira come up with a lie to get him to stop and it works

they've lived in the lower district ever since because ira was an adult at that time so he just ended up living with them in a new place

sometimes he misses his dad and doesn't mention it to people because he doesn't want them to call him crazy or stupid

often visits his mom mostly because he misses her as well but is also somewhat hoping she'd maybe slip up and he'd find out the truth since his memory is hazy of that night
