Dinner with the Birk-Lakes before everything changes

It didn’t take Atticus long to catch Claude. 

Atticus: Mr. Worthington?

Claude: Have we met before?

Atticus: No but I’ve heard of you and I’m looking for work.

Claude: Isn’t your father a cop?

Atticus: How did you know?

Claude: I know a lot of things...

Trina got defensive and curious at the same time. She had always been hostile and it showed on her face.

Trina: What could you possibly need from me?

Atticus: I hear that you work for Claude Worthington. I need to know how to get in touch with him.

Trina: Claude? *she laughed* He’s not the type of guy you just walk up to.

Atticus: Ya I figured but let me worry about that. Do you knw how I can get in touch with him.

Trina: You’re in luck. Mr. Egocentric is walking along the boardwalk...

After dinner Atticus took a walk down by the pier. Stuck in his head were Lacey’s words. He knew he’d never be a Detective like his father or Corporate like the Blake's. 

His Grandfather Gage always told him that he was smart and skilled enough to do whatever he wanted. He found Trina Caldwell jogging towards him and took a chance.

Atticus: Hey Trina, remember me?

Trina; Of course. Atticus Birk golden boy of high school. 

Atticus: Whatever. i need your help with something...

Lacey told stories of Atticus when he was younger knowing that the real interest for Maya was him.

Lacey: I’m just hoping he finds a job soon doing something he likes and not running that club his mo...Candace left him.

Atticus: Mom, it’s fine I’m working on something now. Something different...

Maya invited Lacey and Atticus out for dinner in an attempt to get to know the better.

Making friends has been hard for her since her move to Newport. She’s hoping that her job in fashion can be helped by Lacey’s job in Social Media.

Candice was so happy Atticus showed up but she knew that his smile wouldn’t last for long after she told him the secrets of their family.

She could only hope that he would understand.

Rachel: Hi guys, what’s going on?

Levi: Merlin is missing.

Rachel: Oh really? I saw him down by the pier yesterday but haven’t seen him since.

Lacey: Thanks Rach...I hope we find him soon.

After he got home from Candice’s he couldn’t wrap his head around what she told him and when she got to the part about his Dad it all made sense with the robberies that he was Investigating.

Atticus was at war with himself about how to handle this. He was about to graduate and didn’t want the responsibility of a business at 18. Candice told him that she would maintain the day to day stuff for 2 years and then it was all on him to run.

He swore from that day forward that if he was being put up against his Father and possibly ruining his relationship with Lacey and Pandora that he wouldn’t be speaking to Candice ever again.

Atticus: *chanting to himself* I’m going to find a way out of this.

Candice was hoping her nerves didn’t show.

Candice: I’m so glad you came. I need to talk to you about something serious and it has to do with your Father.

Atticus: ...ok...

Candice: Well you know that our family has many business interests across the world and as part of the Blake family it’s my responsibility to provide you with one and the background for it once you graduate.

Atticus: A business? I don’t even know what I want to do really. I mean I was just thinking of Bartending or something...

Candice: That’s the perfect cover. You’re already thinking like a Blake.

Atticus: What are you talking about? 

Candice: Look you’re going to find out soon that our Family is not quite...as... goodie two shoes as your Father the Cop and his wife the Heiress and no matter what you think about what I’m going to tell you, You’re name will be all over it whether you want it there or not so you might as well do it.

Atticus had to control his rage at what Candice had said about his Dad and Lacey. Lacey was a better Mom to him than Candice ever was and he didn’t want this business bestowed on him but he had to admit he was curious about what she had to tell him and how it would affect his Father.

Atticus: Fine...say what you have to say and be done with it.

A usual morning in the Birk/Lake household. Tyson had already left for the station with the robberies weighing on his mind. Lacey loved her morning’s before work talking to the kids and making sure they were set for the day. With Atticus Graduating soon she wanted him to start thinking about what he would like to do.

Pandora: I want to train dogs Mom!

Lacey: Well that’s a great idea, you love them so much that I bet you would be great at it. What about you Atticus?

Atticus: I don’t know Mom? I mean I’m not built for a desk job and I like talking to people so maybe...a Bartender? It’s not like I need money between you guys and Candice. *phone rings*

Pandora: He just wants to meet girls.

Atticus: *answers the phone* Candice...we were just talking about you...

After talking to Rachel for a few more minutes, Atticus couldn’t take it anymore and walked away from the conversation. The hardest thing was breaking his sisters heart for another day but he would always protect her and be there for her so he went to tell her that he had failed her.

Lacey understood all too well and felt the same but she was happy that Atticus loved her so much that he would take on the sadness for Pandora. She also knew that they would more than likely be getting her a dog of her own.
