Taylor has always been very happy to credit people she feels contributed to her songs, even if their work was very minor - Liz Rose famously got a writing credit on All Too Well even though she said she really didn’t do any writing on it, she just helped edit it down. Pat Monahan said that working with Taylor was unlike any other artist he worked with before because she came in with almost fully completed songs, and again it was more like editing than writing. Maya Thompson didn’t even know a song was being written, but Taylor used her blog posts for it and gave her full writing credit. When she has used samples (LWYMMD comes to mind) she is very open about them and celebratory of the song she’s sampling. I sincerely doubt she asked for credit in the Olivia thing because that’s not something she would have done without her other cowriters (ie Jack and St. Vincent), and both of them seemed to be surprised and confused when the credit was given.

My personal theory with no real evidence to back it up is that Olivia’s team chose to offer credit to the artists Olivia was being accused of plagiarizing (same thing happened with Good For You and Paramore - Hayley Williams seemed to have no clue that was happening) to try to smooth over the bad press she was getting, and that credit was accepted. I think Olivia might have felt hurt or betrayed that Taylor, someone who she had always looked up to and supported, whose album she helped advertise for, and who she thought supported her, never publicly defended her against the plagiarism allegations, the way Elvis Costello did when people started saying that Brutal plagiarized him. The fact that Taylor never publicly commented on the situation and instead just quietly accepted the credit gave room for people to speculate even more that she felt that it was plagiarism, and I can imagine that would feel really hurtful, especially if Olivia had expected Taylor to defend her. Which would have been a fair expectation imo - Taylor had already been publicly supporting her career, and Taylor herself has faced tons of unfair accusations of not really writing her music for years. I could totally see why you might expect her to say something, or even refuse the credit when offered it. Again, I have no real proof to back this up and could be completely wrong, I’m just going on what makes sense based on circumstantial evidence/past behavior

Yeah, like you say we have no way of really knowing but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like this. It's definitely totally understandable for Olivia to feel hurt by it all, regardless of exactly how it went down! I do feel bad for her with it all

maya  was  born  and  grew  up  in  costello ,  she  was  raised  by  very  strict  parents  and  she  was  pushed  to  do  great  things .  both  her  parents  were  politicians  so  it  was  expected  that  her  and  her  siblings  would  do  the  same  thing  despite  none  of  them  wanting  to .  maya  ended  up  moving  out  at  the  young  age  of  sixteen  because  she  wasn’t  happy  living  there  but  while  she  was  out  of  the  house  she  found  her  love  for  politics  just  as  her  parents  wanted  and  eventually  she  herself  became  a  politician .  maya  met  alex  rhodes  in  the  club  that  alex  opened  and  they  fell  for  each  other  hard .  they  were  married  but  this  didn’t  last  as  they  just  wanted  different  things  in  life ,  maya  was  desperate  for  children  but  alex  didn’t  want  them .  maya  is  now  remarried  and  has  a  daughter  with  her  wife  who  is  a  lot  younger  than  both  her  and  alex .
