AUBREY HUDSON
This was a big deal. A really big deal, in fact. When she’d been scrolling through the app, Aubrey really thought she’d been doing something she shouldn’t have. It felt like she was cheating on her current job — kind of hilarious really, since most people scrolling through a Tinder style app would be considered cheating on their partners — but she knew that this was a good thing. It seemed almost strange, to be meeting in a restaurant, considering they were here to discuss a job where Aubrey would be helping with the menu for somewhere else, but she figured maybe it was done strategically to test her knowledge of good food, so she’d been sure to study the menu beforehand, and found that she was nervous as she sipped on her water, waiting for the other woman to show. When a greeter approached the table with another woman in tow, who Aubrey recognized from her profile on the app, Aubrey immediately stood up to shake her hand. “Hi! Vera? I’m Aubrey Hudson. It’s so nice to meet you. I figured I’d wait until you got here to order, but everything on the menu looks so good.” Her tone was bright and enthusiastic as she took her seat again, waiting eagerly for them to begin.
VERA WESTON
This was not Vera’s first time going to a meeting like this. She’d done this quite a few times, in fact, some meetings had been successful, others certainly hadn’t. It wasn’t as often that she’d be meeting up with a woman around her age on her own. Generally it was older men, that was most common, older women and couples were next, but younger women, that was incredibly rare. She smiled as she saw Aubrey stand to greet her, the girl seemed nervous, so Vera decided to pull on a very nurturing smile. She wanted to put her at ease. “Nice to meet you, Aubrey.” She greeted, finding her seat and nodding to her words. “Great. I’ve never been here, so hopefully it tastes as good as it all sounds, right?” She said with a smile. “So, what’s first? Would you prefer a bit of small talk, or rip the band-aid and talk terms?”
AUBREY HUDSON
Aubrey was almost envious of the other woman. They seemed to be around the same age, yet Vera was in the kind of position that meant she was interviewing and hiring people to help out with her own menu, while Aubrey was only just making her very first step in that direction. It eased her mind a bit to see how down to earth Vera seemed, though. “No, I haven’t been here before either. I love trying new places, though,” she grinned, picking up the menu once both were seated, though she knew already what she planned to order. She didn’t know if she was expected to pay for her own meal or not, so she wasn’t going to go too fancy, just in case. “Oh. Um, I guess bandaid? I mean, I’d love to get to know you, but I have to admit, I’m definitely pretty excited to figure everything out. I don’t have a lot of experience when it comes to this, at least not professionally. But I promise I’m really great at what I do, I’d love to get the chance to show you.”
VERA WESTON
She wasn’t sure if the girl across from her was speaking in code or not, so she nodded “Great. I love trying new things, too.” She said with a smile. Vera wasn’t sure what to expect for an answer to her question, but it certainly wasn’t the one she got. It seemed that while Aubrey might be a little awkward she at least had a strong idea of what she wanted, causing a smirk to play on Vera’s lips. “Well, I guess since you don’t have a lot of experience, I can take the lead a bit. I offer a lot of different things depending on what you’d like. I’ve been in a few of these situations before, and every one of them is a bit different. I’ve had people who just want some companionship, someone to see when they’re in town, get dinner with, that kind of thing. Some people want arm candy for events, and of course some just want the physical stuff. I’m okay with everything, but I do like to establish chemistry before anything physical, you understand. Also I don’t do pay per date, that’s not really my style. Preferably I like to have a monthly allowance. We can set it up like a business arrangement where we decide how often you want to see me, and you just help me out with rent and bills. But I’m also happy with gifts and other ways of appreciation. My only absolute condition is that it’s non-exclusive.”
AUBREY HUDSON
This had gone from being terrifying to exciting very quickly. It seemed that Vera wasn’t even here to interview her, and by the sounds of things, she’d already landed the job. However, as she listened to the other woman listing off what sounded like terms and conditions, Aubrey’s brows knitted tightly together, entirely confused for a moment. Her expression fell as she caught on, though. “Wait,” she glanced behind herself, half expecting to see a camera, like she was being filmed for some YouTube prank channel or something. She didn’t see one, though, and turned back to Vera with a look of horror on her face. She couldn’t even question one point specifically, because the entire thing had just completely thrown her off. “What are you talking about?”
VERA WESTON
Vera was expecting a bit of confusion, some questions sure, but the look on Aubrey’s face read totally lost. “Umm,” She hummed, her head tilting to the side as she studied her and then bit her lip. “I’m not sure what part you’re confused about. I know this seems very businesslike, but I promise all sugar baby relationships start out with this kind of conversation, it’s important to set boundaries. After this it will feel much more natural. Why don’t you tell me what you’re looking for in a sugar baby, maybe that would be easier? We can go through it step by step.”
AUBREY HUDSON
At first, Aubrey wondered if she’d heard her right. But then Vera repeated the term ‘sugar baby’, and it was clear there’d been a huge amount of confusion somewhere along the way. “I don’t want a sugar baby,” she shook her head quickly, her tone a little panicked. “I thought this was a job interview. I’m a chef, or I want to be anyway. I thought I was going to be helping with a menu, maybe showing you some samples of my recipes. There’s been some mistake here, this isn’t what I signed up for. If anything, I need a sugar daddy… Sugar person myself, I don’t have that kind of money.”
VERA WESTON
Vera sucked in a sharp breath as Aubrey said she didn't want a sugar baby, bracing herself for some kind of disgusted look to come next. It wasn't uncommon for people to have negative reactions when finding out about the kinds of jobs that Vera held. Yet, the disgust didn't come, and what did was an explanation that made Vera laugh softly, as she shook her head. "That's what you meant by saying you wanted to show me how good you are at what you do." She laughed again, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. It's not that funny. I mean it is, but it's not. I'm sorry to disappoint you, I definitely do not have a restaurant for you to work in, or a menu for you to contribute to." She laughed softly, "This has never happened to me."
AUBREY HUDSON
As confused and disappointed as Aubrey was, she knew she couldn’t blame Vera for this. This had been a mistake made on both of their ends. Plus, Aubrey was the last person that would ever try to make another person feel bad, so she made sure to mentally remind herself that things like this happened. Not exactly like this, but in general. “I’m sorry that you thought you were here to meet a sugar… Are they called sugar people? I don’t really know how it all works.” She frowned, sinking back a little further into her seat and picking up her water. “I think this is probably a sign on my part that I’m not ready for the industry yet, but I’m sorry the universe had to screw you over in the process.” She offered the other girl a small, sympathetic smile. “Would you like to order some food still? I’ll pay.”
VERA WESTON
Vera shrugged at the apology she received, "It's no big deal. Even if that was why you were here, there's no guarantee that it will work out anyways. Sugarmate, Sugar daddy, sugar mama, whatever they want to be called, really." Vera frowned as the girl continued, feeling bad that she was so discouraged, "I doubt that. It just means that maybe you need a second opinion on the profiles you're connecting with on that app," She said with a grin, "Lots of things are codes for other things on there." Glancing down at the menu, she nodded, "Yeah, this food does look good. But don't worry, I've got it covered, you definitely got the worst end of the stick on this one."
AUBREY HUDSON
This was all very new territory for Aubrey, so she just nodded along as Vera explained. It definitely wasn’t the kind of situation she’d expected to find herself in today, that was for sure. “I don’t know. I mean, I have a job, it’s not like I need another,” she shrugged, taking a long sip from her water. Her throat suddenly felt very dry. Setting her glass back down, she quickly shook her head. “I think we both did, we could split it by half?” She suggested, glancing over the menu. She felt like treating herself now. “My boyfriend would be so mad if he knew about this,” she mumbled, eyes on the menu.
VERA WESTON
Vera felt for the girl across from her. For her this was just another meeting that might lead to something, for her it seemed to be an opportunity that she’d been looking forward to for much more. “If you’re not happy, you shouldn’t give up.” She said softly, reaching across the table to give the girl’s hand a light squeeze. She might not be here for a job but that didn’t mean she couldn’t show some compassion, it didn’t all have to be an act. “I do know someone who owns a restaurant, I could see if she’s looking to hire any knew chefs?” She asked, hoping that since she couldn’t offer her a job she could at least offer a connection. “Half sounds perfect.” Vera laughed softly at her next comment, “if he knew you were here with a sugar baby, or for a job interview? Either way, he shouldn’t be mad, this was a mix up, you’re not doing anything wrong, and you should chase your dreams.”
AUBREY HUDSON
Aubrey didn’t do this. She didn’t spill her feelings to people, and especially not people she’d just met. So, as much as she appreciated the reassurance from the other girl, it wasn’t necessary. She did shoot her an appreciative smile, nonetheless. “Thanks. I’m fine, though. I’m happy. I love my job,” she lied, pushing another smile to her lips. The offer was a nice one, and Aubrey really wanted to accept, but like she’d said, this seemed like a sign that she wasn’t ready, so she instead shook her head. “No, that’s okay. Thank you, but I just don’t know that I’m ready for an actual restaurant yet. Maybe in a couple years.” In spite of rejecting the offer, she really did appreciate the support. God knows she didn’t get it at home. “The sugar baby thing. He probably wouldn’t believe me that it had all been a mistake,” she laughed softly, rolling her eyes. “It’s fine, I think some things are okay to keep from the people you love.” Aubrey paused, running her fingers through her hair. She was finally relaxing a little bit, at least. “Do you have a boyfriend? Girlfriend?”
VERA WESTON
Vera didn’t know a thing about this girl, so she wasn’t about to push her into anything, certainly not career wise, so she just nodded as she spoke. That didn’t stop her from frowning as her boyfriend came up, something about the way she talked about him made Vera sad, like she could sense a sadness in Aubrey. She certainly knew about hiding things from the people you love, though. Her cousin was someone she loved more than anyone and she’d certainly hidden enough from her over the years. She didn’t know if it was the same, but she wasn’t about to tell Aubrey how to live her life. “He should trust you,” she said, deciding she’d leave it at that. “Uh no. I have a problem with commitment,” she laughed softly and then shook her head. “And right now, with what I do, it doesn’t really make sense. I’ve had some people who wanted to transition from sugaring to a real relationship but in my experience they’re just trying to have a relationship where they have all the control.”
AUBREY HUDSON
It wasn’t fair, talking about Chad when he wasn’t even here to defend himself. Plus, it wasn’t like he was a bad guy. Just a busy one, that was all. “Oh, no. He trusts me,” she assured, offering Vera a genuine smile. “It’s just one of those things.” Truth be told, he probably wouldn’t even notice if she did tell him. He’d be too wrapped up in work stuff to pay attention. It was nice to hang out with someone different, someone who actually seemed interested in talking to her. So if nothing else, at least she’d gotten that from today’s screw up. “I can understand that. Do you…” She paused, chewing on the inside of her cheek. “Please feel free to tell me to mind my own business. But do you sleep with sugarmates? Is that how it works? I never really understood it.” If so, she could see why Vera wasn’t trying to settle into a relationship. Surely no partner would be okay with that.
VERA WESTON
Vera nodded, she wasn’t here to judge Aubrey’s relationship, she had no room to judge anyone on anything. When the subject changed back to her work, she gave her a soft smile. “I don’t mind talking about it. I’m not ashamed or embarrassed, I like what I do, and while I know that being a sex worker, which is technically what I do, can be dangerous and predatory, I’m really careful and I like to be open about it. I think being embarrassed and hiding it just adds to the shame of it.” Vera shrugged and then let out a small laugh, “sorry, I know that’s not what you asked, but I just want you to know you can ask whatever you want. But yes, sometimes I do. It really depends on the relationship. It’s not like escorting where you get paid per date and each date has pretty set expectations. It’s more of an arrangement. It’s easier to think of it as an open relationship with an allowance. Some mates just want someone to be on the arm at work events, some just want companionship, some want strictly online relationships, with pictures and videos and they like me to send them my panties, or socks even. Some want someone to go out to fancy dinners with, and some just want some good old fashioned Netflix and chill. It’s really a lot like a regular relationship in the sense that you both say what you’re looking for in another person up front and then spend some time together and see how things go. The difference is that one person tends to have more money and is willing to share. There are definitely some people who think that they’re buying you, and that they get to do whatever they want, so I have to be careful. But to answer your question, yes, sometimes I do and no, sometimes I don’t.”
AUBREY HUDSON
Since she knew nothing about this line of work, Aubrey hung onto every word Vera was saying. No, maybe she hadn’t asked for all of that, but she found it interesting, and as someone whose emotions were generally expressed on her face, she was sure Vera would be able to see as much. “Wow,” was her response finally, the thought that that actually sounded way more intimate and deep than anything she and her actual boyfriend had flashing quickly through her mind, but she shook it away. “I think I’d be scared things would get out of hand, but I’m also not the best at standing up for myself. I feel like you probably don’t take any crap from anyone, huh?” She studied the other girl’s face as she spoke, not so much meaning to stare, but there was something comforting about her. Something almost familiar. Aubrey offered her a smile before going back to the menu as the waiter came back to take their orders, letting Vera go first.

How would you describe the poly routes? What are their dynamics and their tropes, please?
Once again this is unhinged, I’m so sorry lmfao…
Auberon/Aubera & Kiran: Identity crisis to the nth degree, protective and loyal meet unaware-of-human-norms fae, Kiran and MC kinda scare Aub and they find that Very Attractive
Morgan & Kiran: Sap fest 5000, double the identity crisis, that one meme where they’re both jumping in front of each other trying to take a bullet for the other, huge biting kink
Cam & Kiran: Friends to enemies to lovers (x2!!), Cam is Deeply Concerned, ultimately both very protective and loyal but they butt heads sometimes because they have different views/methods, tragic irony
Cam & Morgan: Unintentional betrayal (x2!!), Cam is once again Deeply Concerned, monster x human, difficult reconciliation, coming to terms with past losses (not just people)
Ryn & Kendall: Two very different kinds of trauma mixing in explosive ways, doesn’t realize they’re in love with the other two meets not only realizes but knows whole heartedly that they’d die for the other two
The Polycule (Kiran, Morgan, and Cam): Nightmare angst, one big mess of not knowing what the fuck is going on, there are two brain cells in this group and Kiran has both (occasionally lends one to MC), all very loyal at their core and they miss each other desperately but circumstances make it hard to reconcile
