Hi, if it's not too spoilery and if you're comfortable, could we get a small sneak peek on what the poly dynamics are going to look like? And also, why does Nikke seem to dislike the kind and genuine commander so much more than the other personality types?

Hmm... I'm not gonna write mini scenes but I can summarize the vibes--

Nikke + Vethna: MC + Vethna being cute and in love, constantly getting into oddly sexually tense arguments with Nikke, and then both looking at each other like "Hey... what if we... ya know <3" and Nikke just being along for the ride before emotions smack him in the face. / OR / MC + Vethna still being cute and in love, MC + Nikke being friends, Vethna + Nikke having weird sexual tension, MC being like "you guys should kiss" and holding both their hands. CW: That being said, there absolutely is a super angsty element once it comes to the idea of Nikke joining the relationship as an equal, particularly w/ Vethna re. their cultural upbringing. So prepare for some emotional bumps there that aren't really in the other polys.

Nikke + Sabir: Nikke flirts with MC because BANTER and he thinks it's funny to piss Sabir off. Sabir being hopelessly into MC and fuming over Nikke. MC being like "you guys should kiss" and Nikke being like "yeah we should" and Sabir going "ahaha WHAT???" (Very much giving "I want two boyfriends and I want my boyfriends to be boyfriends")

Sabir + Vethna: MC owning two little purse dogs who refuse to get along and are petty with each other. It's pretty much Vethna + Sabir both being hopelessly into MC and MC being like "I have TWO hands and also you two are literally the same person why don't you go get manicures together and shop or something???"

So they're all closed triads!

Regarding Nikke: He doesn't like MC, so when MC is generally more diplomatic to him, it feels condescending to him. It's pretty much just the fact MC is more of the bigger person when they're genuine, which pisses Nikke of because he wants to fight w/ MC, not be friendly, or even tolerable. So he likes Aggressive + Sarcastic MCs more off the bat, but he'll change and open up more as their relationship changes!

What would you say are the main "themes" or "tropes" for every route? (poly routes too, if possible)

Arthur: arranged marriage (duh), extreme devotion (on both sides), destined love

Evaine: pining (mutual or one sided at first - by Evaine), healing from past relationships (Evaine), dealing with rumors (about Evaine, about MC, about both)

Yniol: slow burn, mutual protectiveness,

Morien: annoyances (affectionate) to lovers, strangers to lovers, recovery

Gwyar: forced proximity, confidant to lover, partners in crime

POLYS

Arthur/Gwyar: power dynamics (you know who has the most power - gwyar), power throuple

Arthur/Evaine: fluff and comfort, found family, gossip (both done by the poly, and done to the poly)

Yniol/Morien: healing from trauma, slow burn, taking care of each other, pining

Morien/Gwyar: 2 menaces and 1 cinnamon roll (roles are not fixed), heated arguments (with happy endings)

Jealousy - Theo & Vik

While the spicy story uploads, here’s a snippet of an old commission I just posted to Patreon! All tiers can view the full thing, and it’s in the style of the old Jealousy stories but done for the M!Theo/Viktor poly.

Your hands clench around your textbook as if you’re itching to throw it at this guy and run. The nephilim tightens his grip on your arm, making you visibly wince, and says something so quiet that Viktor can’t quite parse out the words.

The tone combined with your cringing back is more than enough to get the gist of things, however.

Theo moves with a low growl, fangs displayed with a snarl and sneer. Viktor follows close behind, and you look up and relax when you see them approach.

It makes him feel…warm. Warmer, he should say, since his anger quite literally already has his blood boiling. It’s a good feeling, nonetheless, to know you trust Theo and him like that.

“Okay, back off, dude.” Viktor says as the two approach, startling the guy enough to give you the opportunity to pull your arm free.

“Yeah, didn’t your parents teach you manners?” Theo cocks an eyebrow, smirking, “You don’t grab random people. That’s strike one.”

“This is my lab partner,” The guy sniffs, looking affronted as his wings ruffle in agitation, “And who are you to talk to me like that? A demon spawn and a wingless-?”

Theo doesn’t waste time on anymore words, grabbing the guy by the shoulder and shoving him up against the wall.

Auberon/Aubera & Kiran: Identity crisis to the nth degree, protective and loyal meet unaware-of-human-norms fae, Kiran and MC kinda scare Aub and they find that Very Attractive

Morgan & Kiran: Sap fest 5000, double the identity crisis, that one meme where they’re both jumping in front of each other trying to take a bullet for the other, huge biting kink

Cam & Kiran: Friends to enemies to lovers (x2!!), Cam is Deeply Concerned, ultimately both very protective and loyal but they butt heads sometimes because they have different views/methods, tragic irony

Cam & Morgan: Unintentional betrayal (x2!!), Cam is once again Deeply Concerned, monster x human, difficult reconciliation, coming to terms with past losses (not just people)

Ryn & Kendall: Two very different kinds of trauma mixing in explosive ways, doesn’t realize they’re in love with the other two meets not only realizes but knows whole heartedly that they’d die for the other two

The Polycule (Kiran, Morgan, and Cam): Nightmare angst, one big mess of not knowing what the fuck is going on, there are two brain cells in this group and Kiran has both (occasionally lends one to MC), all very loyal at their core and they miss each other desperately but circumstances make it hard to reconcile

As for Straasa, he is actually still pretty shocked by this development.

He has loved Morkai all his life, but being with him is something he never allowed himself to dream of for long.

Some cute facts/dynamic about the Kinn (Kai/Finn) poly if you would? 🥺

• Kai terrified Finn the first time they met. Until Finn saw Kai laugh and thought it was the prettiest sound they’d ever heard.

•Finn loves to cook for MC and Kai. It was something their mother did, even after she became queen, for Finn to show her love. Now Finn does it to show their love <3

•Kai gets very protective if anyone says anything about Finn’s past and family, knowing how sensitive they are about it.

•Finn likes to lay on Kai/MC’s lap and listen to them read. It’s very calming for them since they love to hear their voices.

•This dynamic ⬇️

Do you have a "guide" somewhere on how the poly routes will work? Like which character will need to be locked in first, if it has to be a later lock in, etc? If not, is that something you plan on doing once you have it all solidified/figured out?

The game itself will have a toggle for an in-game romance guide, which will show you what options do what when you stumble across a lock-in scene.

So, if that was turned on, Vethna's early lock in would look something like this:

Otherwise it would just have the normal romance indicators:

Meanwhile, most poly flirts are always explicitly labeled so you can choose them when you want (and avoid accidentally choosing them):

Those are all the most important things involving the poly routes. The poly variables themselves are used in a lot of other ways outside of just triggering poly romances, but that's a big ole' complicated thing.

It should be fairly obvious how to get a poly romance if you want one, and the game will also never force you into a poly romance on accident (the game always double-checks on MC's intentions).

"Don't worry about it" is the moral of the story here. I get a lot of asks from people fretting they won't be able to figure out the poly routes but it really won't be a complicated thing at all. So long as you choose the poly flirt options, follow the romance indicators, and aren't a complete meany-pants to the ROs, you'll be fine! The game is built to take the triggers of a poly romance and basically guarantee you'll be led down the corresponding path, so you won't have to worry about picking the "right" options. The game and storyline will guide you on how to do it.

If it turns out people still need guidance on how to get the romance routes then I'm not against making a guide for it :)

Considering the Hound vs Camelot ask

Because the angst isn’t over yet.

How do the poly’s feel about the others choice?

Would they fight on it?👀

Arthur/Evaine: it would be an agonising confrontation, I could see this go either way depending on a lot of factors. In a possible scenario, Evaine would convince Arthur to choose MC as Arthur already is tearing himself apart over it. Evaine's pleas would convince him to go for MC.

In another, both Arthur and Evaine would be torn apart by grief and pain, but would let MC go if MC was the one to push both to choose Camelot.

As for their reaction to each other's choice: Evaine wouldn't be angry with Arthur for choosing Camelot over MC, but would be angry at whoever forced him to choose. Because Evaine know Arthur can't live with that choice. And of course Arthur would never hold against Evaine choosing MC over Camelot.

Arthur/Gwyar: Gwyar would very clearly want to choose MC, and upon Arthur's painful admission that they can't, that Camelot would be destroyed, Gwyar would be filled with desperation, morphing into anger. Why does it have to be them? It isn't fair!

Only if MC expressed their desperation for them to choose Camelot they would do so. And that decision would not only destroy them both, but their relationship as well. Because Gwyar couldn't bear to stay in Camelot or even look at Arthur. To be reminded of how they both sacrificed MC. Gwyar would leave, and Arthur would break.

As for their reaction if only one had made the choice: I think Arthur wouldn't hold anything against Gwyar either way. He would only be devastated to have lost Camelot. And Gwyar would, again, leave but not be angry at Arthur (instead, reassuring him that it wasn't his fault. That Gwyar just needs to be away for a bit).

Yniol/Morien: in a poly, Yniol would fold to Morien's reasoning and they would collectively end up choosing MC.

About their reactions if they learned of the choice made by the other: Yniol is not someone who lives with regrets. They accept the past and do their best to live with the consequences, so they would not feel resentment towards Morien even for a second. Morien, on the other hand, would completely lose it upon learning MC is gone for Camelot. They would not be angry at Yniol (even though is may sometimes seem that way), but they would fall in a self destructive spiral because it's not right. MC had already given too much.

Gwyar/Morien: they would choose MC most of the time, even if Gwyar would be devastated to lose Camelot. The only instance in which they would fight is if MC specifically asked them to save Camelot instead. Because in that case Gwyar would want to respect MC's wishes (Gwyar think this is after all, their choice more than anyone else to make) while Morien would call MC a self sacrificing selfish bastard and would want to save the Hound regardless. In either case, if they decided to save MC or not, Gwyar and Morien's relationship would never recover.

As for their reaction to each other's decision: both would have sacrificed Camelot, so they would not have so much to argue. But Morien would be very insistent in telling Gwyar that MC was more than worth the sacrifice while Gwyar would resent Morien a bit for their lack of care for Camelot as a whole.

“Are you so serious right now?” Cameron groans, ducking back into the door of Robinson Hall, “This cannot be legal.”

“I don’t think they care if it’s legal,” You say, peeking around to get an eyeful of flashing cameras and waving hands just outside the door, “I think they just care about their next headline.”

Lucien’s hands are twisted in the straps of his messenger bag, eyeing the lights that ricochet off the glass wearily. If there’s one thing he hates, it’s the paparazzi. You’re rather inclined to agree.

Cam huffs, leaning against the wall, “So, how do we get back to the dorms without them mobbing us?”

Other students pass, giving the three of you odd looks. Cam and Lucien shift closer together out of habit to block you from sight.

“I can call Vik, Theo, and Charlie,” You say, “But if I do that, there’s probably going to be multiple things set on fire.”

Lucien looks incredibly tired, “Or people.”

Cam shudders, “Ugh, please keep your guard dogs out of this for now.”

“Then how do you plan on keeping your face out of tomorrow's gossip rags?” You ask, “They seem pretty determined.”

Lucien shifts, then, eyes flicking between the two of you hesitantly, “How… comfortable…are you both with being in close quarters?”

Eyes going from Lucien to you and then back once or twice more, Cameron grins slightly, “I’m totally cool with it.”

The nephilim grimaces, shooting him a glare, as you tilt your head in confusion.

Orion/Florian poly is complicated tbh.

Florian lost you once and is determined to never lose anyone he cares about again, which includes Orion once they spend time together. On the other hand, Orion fears being betrayed again (he trusted another king once and it cost him dearly) so he’s hesitant to open up to Florian.

Once he does, he realizes Florian is genuine and just wants to know him. Florian never wanted to fight Ebia’s war, just like Orion never wanted to fight Leydon’s war.

Once they get their shit together and realize they love each other as well as you, Florian will throw cheesy picnic dates and Orion will wonder how he’s got the two most powerful people in Ebia (MC & Florian) wrapped around his finger.
