Music is not for ears
We never just hear music. Our experience of it is saturated in cultural expectations, personal memory and the need to move
“...how musical perception can be manipulated by visual cues.”

The Music in You
You might not be a virtuoso, but you have remarkable musical abilities. You just don't know about them yet.
“This ability to track statistics about our environment without knowing we’re doing so turns out to be a general feature of human cognition. It is called statistical learning, and it is thought to underlie our earliest ability to understand what combinations of syllables count as words in the complex linguistic environment that surrounds us during infancy. What’s more, something similar seems to happen with music.”

Okay disclaimer before I ask this I have not learned about child development in several years
That said do you ever struggle to understand the "toddler accent?" Asking because you said something about working with 3 year olds and I remember when I had young cousins (like 2-5) I REALLY struggled to understand what they were saying like half the time and the other half I could understand them perfectly. But also I have auditiory processing disorder so I have no idea if it's just me
OH YEAH 98% OF THE TIME I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEYRE SAYING
Most of my students are 3 but wow the 2 year olds say some nonsense. I can't show videos of them here but I save so many precious moments of them talking because you can tell they're trying to make the words more complex but can't yet.
One of the little girl who talks the most but also the least clearly (my brain decided we needed an introject of her just to understand her and because I am so attached and protective of her oh wait that's a whole other thing oh fuxk work stress what's that) spent ages last week trying to say "sticker" but it was "stiyer."
Now that I'm word vomiting I have... four 1 yr olds, four 2 yr olds and three 3 yr olds. I think when I get back after break I'll have five 1 yr olds.

I'm super intrigued by the concept of what is found attractive in voices, but the research I've found is all pretty heteronormative. And I don't have the patience to try and analyze my own preferences myself.

the fun ways my mental illnesses, ADHD, and autism are interacting at the moment.
Adhd causes me to accidentally zone out
anxiety realizes this and panics
depression chimes in that i am a stupid idiot
anxiety stess out further
Autism, because anxiety 1 is panicking, causes auditiory prossing disorder
anxiety panics more because now i can’t understand what is happening
depression tells me it’s just because i’m useless
and it all spirals from there

I’ve just done this ‘which type of learner are you” kind of quiz and it turns out that I’m mostly auditory... Not a surprise tbh, but still, it’s not that I’m firmly just auditory, but anyways... Where are my fellow auditiories at? What are your tips to study a language?
