𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭 ⋅ 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 ⋅ 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭

Dieter rubs a hand over his face as he steps from the SUV into a throng of flashing lights and frantic screaming. It was the premiere of his first directorial and writing debut; a lot was riding on this.

Sure, he'd won an Oscar and various other award nominations, but this was an entirely different beast. This movie was special to him. It was the first script he wrote after getting "clean." He always scoffed at that word. Clean. Was he pure and holy now simply because he kicked hard drugs to the curb?

He takes a deep, slow breath, adjusts his velvet purple suitcoat, and moves down the red carpet. He autographs cards and pictures, takes selfies, and banters with a few fans before moving on to the press.

It doesn't feel right being here alone, he thinks, his left side feeling raw and exposed like a wound that never healed. 

After rewriting the script several times, he has his assistant mail it to a few studio execs before having them print out one last copy. He wrote down your name and told them to send you the script. He wanted to deliver it to you in person; it felt like the right thing to do, but he couldn't be sure you ever wanted to see him again after what he put you through.

He's stronger these days. Mentally and physically healthier. He's lost a bit of weight now that he's no longer downing pills and chasing them with alcohol. It took him a while to get used to feeling again. Sitting with the uncomfortable thoughts and not letting them take control. He's proud of himself. He thinks you would be, too. 

You.

Seeing a large open field littered with red flowers while driving home from rehab for the second time kicked him square in the gut. Flashes of his youth came back in vivid, blinding colors.

Chasing his dog, Dali, around the yard. Playing with you in the field of wildflowers behind your house. His throat tightens.

You.

You were his reason. The sun he revolved around—inseparable childhood friends.

When you first met Dieter, he was covered in chalk dust, drawing funky, green aliens with big eyes on the sidewalk in front of his childhood home. You'd just moved in next door, and your Mother told you to go make friends. He looked at you in awe as you stood before him, the sun creating a golden crown around your head. "Wanna be friends?" you blurted before kneeling and pestering him about his chalk alien.

From that moment on, you were forever linked. Dieter never wanted anyone else.

From scabbed knees and hide & seek to strange body changes and long school days. Consoling Dieter after he's pushed into a locker, copying each other's homework, watching Dieter shine on the theater stage, and spending almost every minute together that you could.

He wondered if you ever felt the love he held for you—the love that surpassed sibling bonds and grew stronger every time he laid eyes on you. The love that made him self-conscious and shy away from speaking his truth despite years of yearning. He couldn't convince himself to jeopardize the friendship or that you might possibly feel the same.

Cut to Dieter asking you to move to LA with him to be his assistant once his star power steadily rose. 

To the elaborate movie sets and lavish premieres, to the long nights and unspoken feelings. 

To find Dieter on the floor with vomit spilling from his lips to the empty bottles of pills and booze splayed around his Hollywood Hills home. 

The bickering, the raging parties, and the friendship that was slowly dying. 

The shell of a man he used to be. 

You were never around when he needed you the most after he drowned himself in booze and pills. He never blamed you. He was often inebriated, covered in a mess of sweat and other fluids. You could only stand to see him self-medicate for so long. 

"I can't keep doing this," he remembers you saying as tears welled in your eyes and your bottom lip trembled while he sat in a crumpled heap at the foot of his unmade bed with that usual glazed look. "I can't keep trying to save you."

He remembers wanting to argue, to save whatever piece was left. He tried to chase after you, but his brain and body were still under the haze from the night before, limbs heavy as lead weights, and they no longer listened to his commands. 

How your face twisted with a devastating sadness made his heart shatter. He never meant this to happen, for it to get this bad.

Had Dieter known the repercussions, that the last image he'd have of you would be wiping fallen tears that he caused from your cheeks, he would've gotten clean eons before. He would've let this version of himself die without a second thought. He wanted to be the man you counted on, with your best interests at heart. 

The man you knew him to be.

Just as he's about to step into the theater, he hears a voice call his name—a voice that would wake him from the dead. 

You.

His heart aches; it bursts with unnerving energy as he watches you approach. His gaze never leaves you as you glide across the room to where he stands, frozen. Could he be hallucinating?

"Hi D," his nickname sounds like heaven as it leaves your lips. He never wants it to end; he wants to hear it forever. "I'm sorry I didn't reach out sooner. I needed to make sure I was in a good headspace to see you again." You nervously wring your fingers, and Dieter can't stop himself from reaching out and locking your hands together, calming your combined anxious energy.

"It's okay," he whispers, throat tight, holding back elated tears, "I'm glad you're here."

A smile tugs at your lips, eyes shiny with your own tears. "Me too."

TDRR EP 8 Hawaiian Honeyruin but make it brightning 

theres a whole wedding themed episode, i just had to make this. plot wise, this episode would be where their relationship really starts blooming. just them being flustered and sappy, all that good stuff. i made this in august of 2022 so it’s kinda wonky but i never posted it so.

its just a bunch of fluffy, wholesome stuff, it would be a pretty chill challenge for them. BONUS Kitty selfie bc i literally luv Kitty and her cute little selfies she takes with people!!! its so cute, ive always been a fan of contestants being friends and having fun little moments like that. I can imagine her being excited for them for getting through and wanting to get a pic with ROTI contestants to remember the trip and its just a cute thought ^^

I am feeling super frustrated lately so days must be getting shorter again.

I made this the other day because I had time to kill. This is two versions of my cosplay. Both were taken by pro photographers at cons. 2019 is by Ashton Williams. 2022 is Bryan Humphries.

I was very, very pleased with both versions of this cosplay. In 2019 I was at my third con in as many months. I’d made myself a shield and custom painted my sword. I was asked shortly after that image if I was gender bending Link or crossplaying and I didn’t have an answer for that, so I had to do a lot of thinking on the subject, and that’s been really interesting. I wasn’t wearing makeup or contacts yet.

That 2019 photo sits in my kitchen, where I see it all the time.

So yes, very pleased with it, but it wasn’t where I wanted it to be yet.

In the 2022 image, the wig is the same, though it’s better styled. The pants and gloves are the same (the 2019 photo was the first time I wore leggings with this) The belts, bracer and the sword are the same. I thrifted the boots, but the tops were recycled out of the old pair. I have colored contacts and started figuring out how to change my face a little, and to hold myself different,y (both works in progress). I’ve started to learn to sew and the tunic is the second version I made- it’s linen and it hangs to the right spot. I had to make my own to get one that went over my hips. I made the cape you can see, too. I’ve got arm wraps that stay in place finally, and that Shiekah slate I made holds my phone.

I love everything about this 2022 photo, too. I think I’m going to get it printed out to sit next to the other one in my kitchen. It’s still not exactly where I want it, but it’s all just little refinements. Well, I want to make my own pants because I could use some more pockets. Plus pants look like a challenge. I can’t wait to see where he’s at in another year.

I’m a very competitive person and when I started cosplay it was easy to see someone who had been doing it a decade and feel discouraged. I still sometimes do that. It’s better for me to see where I’ve been and where I’ve gotten. I sometimes see artists here who redraw an image a year apart to show their growth. I think this is the same

I was out getting selfies with that guardian and several other Zelda cosplayers geeked out over my phone case. One of them asked if they could take a photo of me taking a selfie, so I obliged. Then they sent it to me.

Reflective statement - 500 words

The Photograph Always Lies

For assignment 1: The Photograph Always Lies, we were able to explore and learn the ideas of image manipulation and the true story of post photography. For me, image manipulation is not fake or entirely negative. It could be viewed as storytelling from one or many different perspectives.  Image manipulation could be dangerous if an individual or organization uses it incorrectly, to make up lies, or try to fake a situation.

My manipulated images reflect the growing phone addiction among the new generation and how it has caused the reading habit to be ignored. Growing up, I would sit on the top of my clothes, and read for hours. I can finish a whole book in a day or two. Fast forward to today, me and many others in my generation could not even sit through a 30 second or 1 minute Tik Tok video. We watch everything at 2x speed. The statistic never lies, according to a research survey which was conducted in 2015 by Microsoft, that the average attention span of Gen Z individuals was only about eight seconds.  

I used three images to convey this concept. The first image shows a bookshelf placed outside a local church—a symbol of knowledge, reflection, and introspection that is now being neglected. Books, once a source of wisdom and a way to connect deeply with oneself and the world, are now left unnoticed, collecting dust outside where they were once cherished. The second image is a hand holding a Iphone with the selfie camera being one, this is where I can present about the phone addiction issue running in this new generation. The third and final image I used, it’s an image I picked first. The main role of it is to create some sort of texture on top of my image. I use this as one of my surreal elements as “Surreal images tend to be dreamlike and tap into people's unconscious,” says Tryforos. The texture of this image will be my dreamlike element. Together raise a question: Have we forgotten the richness of reading in favor of a digital quick fix?

For the resubmission, my art model influence remains as Dora Maar, as her influence helped to shape the conceptual approach to this assignment, even in the first or second attempt. This is because Maar's art frequently merges reality with surrealism, revealing hidden truths about the world. Her use of photomontage and editing encouraged me to approach my project in a similar way, allowing me to utilize visual narrative to investigate issues of urban decline and public accountability.  

This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, equipping me with new skills and insights that I will carry forward in my artistic endeavors. To me, photography is always about storytelling, it’s just this way or the other. Last but not least, even though I have to resubmit this assignment, it will forever be a transforming experience which enabled me to understand image manipulation and surrealism photography.

Doug Emhoff takes the DNC stage

The second night of the Democratic National Convention was electric for the base of the Democratic Party.  The night was made special with former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama closed out the evening delivering spectacular speeches in support of Vice President Kamala Harris.  But before the Obamas got their opportunity to work the crowd to drum up support for the party’s presidential nominee, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, provided the public some insight about his wife and what drives her.  This election, you have to decide who to trust with your family’s future. It was a beautiful story weaved by Emhoff that he never came across as doing this speech as a political spouse.  Emhoff’s self-depreciation about their relationship and giving America a small peek into who Harris is was well-received.  “America, in this election, you have to decide who to trust with your family’s future. I trusted Kamala with our family’s future. Good morning!  I hope you slept well and feel rested?  Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day.  Welcome to the weekend!

Wow!  Here we are again: Friday!  Where did that week go?  No, seriously, where did that week go?

On Thursday morning, I had coffee and cake with my globetrotting friend Ngozi Omambala.  (Totally forgot to take a selfie!)  She actually went to school with The Trouble, and she later worked with me at Kiss 100 on Holloway Road, so she knows all the crew.  She lives in Nigeria now so, if you see us in an airport departures lounge, you’ll know where we’re going!

Elijah’s birthday party was … erm … eventful!  He is loved by many people, so he was able to lay on hot food, soft drinks, a slushie machine and a banging sound system.  A big group of 15-year-old boys and girls?  You kidding me?  Man, it was messy!  Chaotic!  The DJ had all the big tunes, so they were singing and dancing, and the walls were shaking!  I looked well out of place, so I left them to it.  Do I remember what I was like when I was 15?  I sure do and those details are NOT fit to print!

Not long to go!  I will be spinning tunes at ‘Let The Music Play’ at Cinnabar, Stevenage on Sunday, August 25th.  So many beautiful people at these events!  And no work Monday too!

Looking forward to doing a set at UNDR, Ladbroke Grove on Sunday, September 8th.  Admission is FREE so, if you’re not doing anything, pop in!  The Trouble will be there with her posse so, if you think you can dance, feel free to challenge her! 

And looking forward to the Soul4U weekender at The Aloft Hotel in Birmingham between September 13th-15th.  Superb line-up of DJs and a live set by the Brit Funk Association.  I think we can probably have a few drinks on the Saturday night?  We’ll eventually find our room!

US singer Omar Apollo has confirmed that he’ll make his acting debut in Luca Guadagnino’s new film Queer.

The highly anticipated new flick stars Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, and it’s now confirmed that out singer Omar is in it too.

Out director Luca Guadagnino, who’s also known for Call Me By Your Name and the unbearably horny tennis drama Challengers, filmed the adaptation of William S Burroughs’ 1985 novel last year.

In Queer, protagonist Lee is lost in Mexico City, fighting drug addiction. While there, he becomes madly infatuated with a discharged American Navy serviceman named Allerton, who’s battling demons of his own.

Allerton toys with Lee, making the gay man even more obsessed with him. The two men later go travelling together.

Daniel Craig is playing Lee. Actor Drew Starkey, known for Netflix’s Outer Banks, will play the younger Navy man.

It’s not known who Omar Apollo is playing, but Hollywood outlets are reporting he’ll get top billing in the film.

The singer shared a screenshot of a story about his role to social media, writing, “1st movie with Luca, wow hot ass cast.”

Omar Apollo released his second studio album, God Said No, last month.

Hype around Queer is building, with Luca Guadagnino previously teasing the three-hour-long film has some “outrageous” and “scandalous” gay sex scenes.

Raw Format: The most common setting for me is continuous shutter in RAW format. I love this option because it dramatically increases my odds of getting a gorgeous pic. Using the RAW setting is a must. Although it creates a bigger file size, it gives you the best quality pics. Since no information is compressed when you shoot in RAW, it is much easier to edit. Continuous Shutter: Continuous shutter is especially useful for selfies. It gives you a few shots to choose from, which lessens your chances of having your eyes closed in an otherwise perfect shot and other similar issues. Pro tip: While learning how to take a good shot is essential, having the right tools to edit your pics is priceless! Even the best photographers on the planet need to edit their photos. If you haven’t already, check out my Lightroom Presets for a collection of my fave fixes. Night Lapse Mode: This is so important in low light environments. From dimly lit rooms to shots of starry skies, night lapse mode is a must use. It will make a dramatic difference in the quality of pics that you can shoot in dark conditions. Burst Mode: To increase your odds of capturing the perfect shot, use burst mode on your GoPro. This will shoot a quick sequence of photos that will give you a video-like line of shots. Doing this will capture every exciting moment whether you are jumping off of a waterfall or just making a silly face. Voice Control: This is a total game changer for solo travelers. Just turn on this feature, and you can get hands-free selfies! Just say, “GoPro, take a photo,” and you will get a single shot in RAW format. For video, you’ll say, “GoPro, start video,” and you can create your own hands-free movie. What more could a solo traveler ask for? Video Settings: When it comes to mastering the GoPro, you will also want to figure out which video settings are best for different situations. Tomorrow is my civil service exam and I'm having breakdowns because I don't want to fail. I feel like I've had enough failures I could handle. I don't know what I'll do if I still don't make it this time. I'm not sure if I could have courage to try again this is really breaking my heart. :(

I visited our room assignment today and took a selfie. I hope I pass the exam.

After I checked my room assignment, I went to PCBS to buy some cute love notes from the Lord. I feel like I really need it. :)

So, after purchasing, I was asked if I could play a game. I was hesitant at first, because I was never the type of person who's always up for games/challenges. I still went for it anyway and I won! :) I didn't know I'll have a prize for simply participating and playing. :) .

I also can't believe that I would be told "God bless you." today as well. I just hope the Lord will bless me and that I'll get to pass the CSE and CELE exam this year.
