Happy release *week* to GLOW! I say that because I'm late with this mini papercraft challenge to celebrate, but what else is new! A new papercraft to pay tribute to Auren and King Ravinger from The Plated Prisoner Series by Raven Kennedy! The 'third' pair from TPP I've rendered in paper. Slade having no qualms about skin-to-skin contact with his goldfinch. (Under the right lighting, of course!) But it's Auren's ribbons that are taking center stage in this one. Wrapping around the four-pronged tree, emblem of the Fourth Kingdom. Honestly, Auren's ribbons were MADE for papercrafting. I love drawing swirly, swoopy things and Auren's ribbons are seriously my favorite, in craft and on text. And I'm sure, for those who have read up through Gleam, you can only imagine my feelings when I read through it the first time. 😩✨

You know what makes me laugh and amazes me ?

That people complain about Gold, the first volume of Raven Kennedy's series, for being toxic and not a romance, an apology for the worst things there is, whereas... it's not a romance.

The story of Auren and Midas is not a romance, and the author does not romanticize this relationship at any point.

Auren will eventually break away from Midas who will pay for his horrible actions. At no time was their relationship romanticized.

And I sincerely worry about the people / antis who criticize this book in the opposite direction, thinking that the book glorifies this relationship and romanticizes it.

These people shouldn't read books. They don't know how to read at this stage.

And if they think this story between Auren and Midas is being portrayed as a romance, I worry about their reading comprehension skills, truly... Either that, or they're being willfully stupid.

The worst part is that I've seen people say that the fact that it stands out in the other volumes is no excuse because volume 1 still exists.

Except that once again, the story of Midas and Auren is not and never has been a romance ! This is clear abuse, both physical and mental !

This person also claims with this intelligent thought that the author could have completed the story of these two in two chapters instead of continuing in a vacuum to romanticize gore, and that amazes me.

Victims of abuse often live in a repeating cycle and don't get out of it (if they ever get out of it...) for a long time. You already need the mental trigger to understand being a victim of abuse.

These people once again have no reading skills.

Don't you like reading stories with complicated themes ? Well don't read it !

But don't come and say that the book is poorly done because you didn't understand it.

Reading GOLD by Raven Kennedy

Peoplesss!! Unhinged Slade is my favourite Slade!!!

He's gone on a "revenge rampage" and a " killing spree" and his wrath is like "yeah, we get it" or " can i get some of that?" And honestly thats so inline with their reputation! I understand now why everyone everywhere is afraid of them. Slade n his Wrath are **unhingeddd**

As opposed to Rhys n his IC , I don't get how or why people might be afraid of them. I hope Sarah takes a few dark turns in Az's story because if there's a character that is fucken in the head it's Azriel. I wouldn't mind a revenge rampage from Nesta though.

The Plated Prisoner series gets the kitteh treatment! I’d adopt them all, but something tells me that Digby would be the most delightful kitty friend 😸  (Auren still deserves all the hugs, Osrik insists on being adopted with Rissa, and some of the fur patterns are Easter eggs!)

Someone explain to me how Gild was literally the worst book I have ever read, but somehow I’ve made it 3/4 through Gleam and now I want to stand by Auren’s side and watch her burn this castle to the ground while she frees Digby and the saddles and nails Midas’s severed head to a dartboard?

I have waited a long time to share this amazing fanart of Auren from Plated Prisoner ... what I absolutely love about Auren as protagonist is that she is femine yet powerful ... she isn't a warrior but she is fighter and I absolutely love that .... ❤️

Past week or two I’ve been reading the Plated Prisoner series (Gild, Glow, etc.) and I’m really liking it

Specifically the fact that Auren is 25, and her character development is just done beautifully.

I feel like the pacing is really really well done, each book is very self contained and has a reason to have Auren act the way that she does.

I’ll update when I finish the fifth one, the last and finale isn’t out until next summer but I wanted to read a longer cohesive story rather than just one or two books.
