Well, if we look at it purely in terms of plot, varadha is better suited for playing baahubali, he even has rudra to play bhallaladeva. But then again, deva— besides being, you know, prabhas—also has amma to play sivagami...

But it's far more amusing to see varadha play politics and win at it, all so our dear himbo deva can keep committing glorious (and righteous) manslaughter ✨️

Or...we could take the easy route and go with reincarnation, baahubali happened in a past life and we can even keep devasena a woman to give varadha some gender dysphoria in addition to like every other trauma he has.

There's also the isekai route...where varadha could get dropped in mahishmati or something...but I think that's already being done in a fic— though not involving baahubali but with a more 'Outlander' feel to it.

Okay omg I literally love all of this so so so much???? Also Varadha being dropped into Mahishmati is just unhinged 🤤 like him in Mahishmari style Rajamouli wardrobes? Yes please! Also, he’d probably thrive in a medieval honour culture in a way he never would in modern day Khansaar-

where Rama Raju is a gold fire dragon that is convinced he can't be the last dragon on Earth, because he has a soulmark that shows him he has a soulmate SOMEWHERE.

And I realized this year... I have a ton of extra headcanons about him, and a ton of ideas about drawing him so... here's me, showing him as a baby dragon, before the ugliness came to his life, when he was just... himself. The family's baby even if he was the older brother.

This is one of the images I'm making. Baby Dragon Ram, probably 3 or 4 years old in human years (Which makes him barely hatched as the dragon side of dragon borns in this universe is a LOT slower growing up than the human side) discovering Butterflies for the first time.

(YEs, this means that, by the time of RRR? Ram's dragon half is, at most? 16 years old. a hormonal teenager. And if you have read the fic? You know now why he acts like he does)

I have a fanfiction.net account that I have long stopped using, not least because I started disliking the site, as well as the character whose name I had used as my username on that site.

I had a Wattpad phase when I was 15. I haven’t opened that in years.

I do not like either reading or writing smut, maybe it’s part of my manifestation of aroace news.

I used to roleplay with someone who had been a friend of mine, online here on Tumblr.

I have beta read fics and fic related scenes for both former and current friends.

I have definitely published an unbeta’ed fic! Most of my early works in the Mahabharata fandom were unbetaed, as well as most of my fics for all other fandoms I have written in.

I have definitely written self-indulgent fics. A King’s Fortune is one I can think of immediately, though that one is angst central right now, as well as Let Not Sleeping Skunks Lie, which is the height of self-indulgence.

I usually write grammatically correct sentences, even in comments, something I have been teased for. No keysmashes, sorry.

Yes, I have left kudos on many fics twice, at least in the form of comments. @starlightasteria and her amazing fics are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

No, I have not written for same sex ships. I don’t ship in general, with some very rare exceptions, all of which are somehow cishet ships.

Fan fiction is definitely a genre of its own!

Definitely multifandom. Mahabharata, ASOIAF, Jodhaa Akbar, Baahubali, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, have fics I have written fro them that are published, including two crossovers. I am writing a fic for the Thor (Marvel) movie, as well as have ideas for fics on the Ponniyin Selvan fandom, which I intend to execute. Oh! And I also have a fic for the TV serial Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, though most of that fandom would flame that fic, because it is very biased to the male lead, being in his PoV with a lot of canon divergences.

I enjoy research before writing! Have spent many happy hours in that.

If a mental outline counts, I keep an outline of sorts, yes.

Who doesn’t wait for feedback after publishing?

Fanfic: The Master of the Casino Chapter 1: Tarak Rama Rao

Chapter 2: Ram Konidela

If there was one certainty the Ram had in life, it's that he definitely shouldn't have come on this trip.

But his friends eventually convinced him. Saying it would be the perfect celebration. And in a way they were right.

As Bokkala Kumar, one of Ram's best friends, who ended up being the organizer of the whole trip, said…

-Las Vegas is an amazing destination. -Far enough from home. -And perfect for having fun without the constant supervision of the family. -And with an almost endless variety of fun, even the Ram can have fun !

And everyone laughed at that statement. Ram's personality was a constant joke between them. They knew he really didn't want to go. That Ram was never given to travel, parties or large gatherings.

But Ram agreed with his friends this time. They were definitely right ! Everyone deserved a rest after so many college assignments and exams.

Las Vegas was the place to be. And Las Vegas turned out to be an amazing place for everyone. The lights were almost blinding they were so strong and bright. The sounds, the smells, everything was wonderful. And the limousine that Bokkala rented so that everyone could tour the city, just completed the spectacle that trip had become.

Then the limousine stops in front of an extremely luxurious building with an incredible 60 floors. But Ram couldn't help but laugh when he saw the name of the casino his friend chose.

-Casino Hyderabad ? -Serious ?

Trust Bokkala Kumar to cross the ocean, for the sole purpose of gambling, drinking, running away from home and having fun, and yet choosing a place that references India itself.

And Ram knew that whoever decorated that place was definitely a fan of S.S. Rajamouli. It was like being inside Baahubali's palace. In fact, if Ram wasn't miscalculating, and he never was ! That casino had the same layout as the throne room in the movie.

Gigantic columns divided the space into three rooms, with a central corridor flanked by a row of slot machines.

In the space where princes and generals would sit, luxurious Poker, Baccarat and Three Card Poker tables.

The left and right sides of the columns were true mirrors of each other.

Roulette, Blackjack, and many other tables mingled harmoniously with electronic games of all kinds, as well as several arcade machines.

And on both sides, at the end of the casino's side spaces, bars built in the same architecture as the flying boat shown in the film, making the whole place something grand and magnificent.

The central corridor, which in the film would serve to take people to the throne, in the casino, performed the same function.

The corridor directs you to several replicas of all the thrones shown in the film, in an area free for photographs, where people could feel part of that history.

Behind the thrones was a grand staircase, and on either side of it, luxurious elevators, all of which had the same function, taking them to the upper floors where the nightclub was located, as well as the rooms available for rent.

But the most impressive thing about it all was a kind of box made of mirrors that projected over the thrones, and that seemed to be supported only by steel cables that came from the ceiling.

And Ram was willing to bet anything that the casino's security center worked inside that mirrored box, because if those mirrors were like the mirrors found in police stations, whoever was in that room would have a 180 degree view of the entire casino.

While Ram was gaping, admiring the place. He noticed Bokkala looking at him expectantly.

-Okay, you did well, good choice. -Happy now ?

-The introverted genius praising me ? -Of course ! -And now the best part, LET'S ENJOY !!!!

And at first they were having a lot of fun together. Betting on slot machines. Acting like kids in the arcade hall. And taking pictures like real pre-teens.

But in a short time each one ended up going to one side. Seeking amidst that spectacle, his own entertainment.

And that's when things started to go wrong for the Ram. When he found himself alone and started wandering the halls of the casino… When he found himself alone and in front of Black Jack's table… When he found himself alone and with no one to stop his mathematical mind from working…

There were no secrets in Black Jack for Ram. At least, not for a mind like his. And hand after hand, the Ram always won !

He'd seen enough movies about casinos to know this could go terribly wrong. But Ram just couldn't stop.

The emotion of every bet… The ecstasy felt with each victory… Everything acted like drugs on Ram's system. He quickly became addicted to these feelings. And the ecstasy those emotions gave her.

And because of this euphoria, Ram did not realize when a security guard declared in a loud voice:

-This table is closed !

Nor the danger that phrase represented for him, until two security guards grabbed him by the arms and took him into an elevator.

On the way, Ram tried to reason with the guards. Explain what was going on. Looking around in an attempt to find his friends. But all actions were in vain.

And the moment the elevator doors closed, Ram knew he was likely to be killed. And he just hoped the casino would tell his friends where his body would be dumped…

The moment the elevator doors opened he was pushed with such violence that Ram ended up losing his balance.

And Ram found himself lying at someone's feet. Slowly he raised his eyes. Gradually bringing to mind the image of the most handsome man Ram had ever seen in his life.

And before he could realize it, his face was covered in an intense shade of red.

-Hello boy !

And that man's voice, awakening in Ram all kinds of desire…

RRR Prompt

Title: SSR Villain Get Along

Plot: 3 of SSR'S most notable villains imo, which includes Sudeep (from the movie Eega), Bhallaladeva (from the Bahubali movies), and Scott Buxton (from the movie RRR), sit in a pub/bar and talk about their disdain for each others heroes who defeated them.

Tone: Probably a dark comedy

P.S, how many of SSR'S movies have you watched and how would you rank them (with reasons provided)?

Oh no I think I may have set expectations too high friend 😅😅. Just because I'm so completely obsessed with this movie should not be used as evidence that I am a movie buff. TBH I see like less than 10 non-animated movies a year, if that. I am not a big movie person. I've only seen the two Baahubalis and RRR from SSR so far. I'll try to watch his other movies at some point, but no idea when.

I feel so bad turning down a second prompt from you but I cannot write for characters I both don't know and am not drawn in by. This prompt is beyond me, but I'll share it if others have any ideas for this story.

Follows from the trajectory set by my Silences and Insanities universe. What became of the Mahishmati royal family once they bowed out of the traditional system that allowed the destruction of Amarendra Baahubali. And what does it have to do with the dreams that dominate the sleep of Alluri Seetharama Raju?

Folks and fellow tribespeople, we are the timeless bards of Mahishmati. Maybe you’re a commoner that worked beside Amarendra Baahubali during his exile. Maybe you’re a soldier that fought alongside Bhallaladeva. Maybe you are Devasena’s lady-in-waiting. Maybe you are one of Sivagami’s personal guards. Maybe you are none of them. 

In all likelihood, you’re someone like us, @carminavulcana and @avani008 -- women from the year 2018 who only know of the these people that lived (or maybe didn’t) almost a thousand years ago. But we tell their stories based on the narration of S.S. Rajamouli, another storyteller albeit at a different level altogether. 

Okay, enough with the drama and the lameness!

Without much further ado, I present to you the first ever author and fic archive in the Baahubali Fandom. 

And this is going to work in two parts.

Author of the Month

Since we are a small fandom and hoping to welcome more people into it, this is a way to know each other better and build a stronger community. Most of us are also trying to improve as writers and/or looking to make new friends. Every month, we want to feature one of you in this archive. I or Avani will interview you over chat or send you a list of questions to answer. The interview will then be published along with what you consider to be your top three fics. You will pick one of these and we will put the top comment your received on it alongside your story. 

Fic of the Week

This is going to be organized slightly differently. There is no end to possibilities in a fandom. Plus, since a lot of the writing in our fandom is of rather good quality, we should absolutely do more with it.

1. Every week, a fic will be selected to feature on the archive. Then, two people from the fandom will be asked to read the story and deconstruct it however they like. Basically, their analysis would encourage the author and also help them improve as a writer. Of course, there will be an open discussion thread under the post which will remain open the entire week for you to add to the analysis, reviews, and opinions about the story and/or the deconstructions. 

The fics will also be chosen randomly but no author’s fics will be chosen back-to-back. Similarly, the authors for the ‘Author of the week’ and the reviewers for the deconstruction of the ‘fic of the week’ will also be chosen randomly. 

We will do this the old fashioned way by drawing lots. I will have three little jars with small chits of paper in it. Jar A will contain the names of the authors. Jar B will contain the names of the fics. And Jar C will contain names of the reviewers. 

When you comment below, let us know if you’re okay with us putting you and your stories in all the jars. If you’d like us to keep you out of one of the Jars, please specify which one.

The aftermath of the battle between Mahendra and Bhallaladeva. This story is based on my other story 'Silences and Insanities' which is a canon-divergent piece in which Devasena and Mahendra escape while Amarendra is captured and held prisoner for 25 years. I advise reading that before this one.

 This fic is not complete yet. It is updated regularly and will be completed over the next 6-8 months. 

He turned around, anxiety and fear evident on his face.

“Do you need something else before you go in?” Devasena asked. “Do you… do you need help? Should I call for an attendant?”

He wished he could tell her what was wrong, but the truth was he himself wasn’t entirely sure. He wanted to take a bath so badly that he could feel his skin tingling with excitement and relief. But he was also scared. A part of him felt like a slave who had stolen from his master and would be discovered any minute.

But he did not say this to his wife. Instead, he focused on a practical matter.

“I don’t need… an attendant,” he managed to say. “But I don’t have a fresh change of clothes. Though I don’t mind wearing this again,” he added hastily, referring to the tattered tunic and pants he was wearing.
