I just want you guys to know… we did the fucking thing. I told my friend before I did my PR retest, “it may be a little unrealistic but I want to hit 200.”
Well, turns out it wasn’t that unrealistic. It was a 15lb Increase in my PR and then hit my 200🥰
Want to push yourself to become the best version you can be? I know a great way to do that is strength training. What is strength training you might ask? Strength training, or weight lifting, is the act of targeting specific muscle groups to build strength and tone them.
Personally, strength training is my favorite type of exercise out of all types of exercise. I have been weight lifting since I was 13 years old, and have never looked back. I love weight lifting for a variety of reasons, but specifically the way it makes me feel. Every time I lift, I feel like I am on top of the world. I feel my strongest and love the way my muscles feel and look!
Let me share with you some of my favorite benefits of strength training.
Increased muscular strength
Injury prevention
Better balance
Reduced stress
Boosted self-esteem
A few of my favorite, but also common, strength training exercises are back squat, bench press, and deadlift. Back squat and deadlift are great exercises for targeting your core, glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps. While bench press is more focused on your chest, shoulder, and triceps.
Videos on how to perform these exercises are linked below. I hope you enjoy these exercises as much as I do!
