And it blows away (with the changing wind)
pairing: Agatha x teen reader
summary: after persuading Agatha to teach you about magic, you can't help but imagine yourself as a part of a coven, maybe a family. it's a shame your mentor doesn't share your wishes.
Warnings: slightly toxic mentorship??, Agatha being her usual mean and mocking self <3
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧✩₊˚.⋆
Agatha's house in Westview was the epitome of suburban quality and comfort. It was a cozy space, not small but not too large, the place filled with just a little too much furniture and pattern that it gave it that witchy dazzle. Or at least that was what you thought.
You were sitting in one of the armchairs by the unlit fireplace, pretending to read. Well, pretending... You were still skimming through the pages, glancing over the words, but none really caught your eye. You supposed better that than to end up with Agatha scolding you for not paying attention. Yes, you weren't in the middle of training now, you weren't learning a new spell or some ridiculous hand movement that your mentor made look effortless and cool. You were just reading. Thinking, more like it. You flipped a page, absentmindedly, and nearly jumped out of your chair when a mockingly cooing voice spoke into your ear.
"That's a bit too advanced for your little head to turn over, don't you think?"
You turned, and saw Agatha smiling down at you, one hand against the back of the armchair, the other at her hip. She was giving you that condescending look she usually had but somehow made more charming. More… making you willing to overlook the meanness and the mocking and fall under some nonexistent guise of lackluster self esteem and a willingness to please her. It was annoying really, only when it wasn't absolutely endeavoring. You weren't sure if you hated it or wanted to keep on chasing it your whole life. You looked up and gave Agatha one of your tentative looks, not quite following as always.
"What?"
Your mentor rolled her eyes and moved away towards the couch, patting your head in the process, an endearing gesture, yet she somehow managed to make it feel contemptuous. You leaned into it nonetheless.
"The book, dearie." Agatha said, sitting down against the stupid decorative pillows and a pumpkin-patterned couch blanket. "That page you have open, why are you reading about it?"
You looked down at the book. Indeed it was open on a much farther chapter, one near the backend, and titled Blood Moons: everything you need and need not know about their intricate connections to the Craft. You swallowed. In honesty you weren't at all paying attention to what you were flipping through. In honesty, you were thinking about Agatha Harkness being nice to you, which was very uncommon and very unlikely.
"Hello toots." Agatha said again, a bit more taunt in her voice this time. "Anyone there?"
You nodded quickly, closing the book in your lap. "Y-yes, I'm here." You said, starting to fumble with your necklace. It was a gold-circled medallion with a stone maiden's head in the center. A mockup of your mentor's brooch. Another obvious example of your own desperation to match your power to someone far more cogent and powerful than yourself. Pitiful.
Agatha tilted her head, scrutinizing you with an odd and uncommon curiosity. You noticed it, of course, you noticed every single micro expression on your mentor's face directed towards you in hopes of finding some comfort there. Comfort that was so far nonexistent. You didn't know why you were still searching for something you clearly wouldn't get. And yet something made you stand up, set the book down on a nearby table and go sit next to Agatha, who regarded you with a confused and frowning look.
"What are you doing?"
You gave her a tentative smile. "Sitting?"
"You were already sitting over there."
"Yes, well… Anyway."
Agatha gave you a look. But she didn't tell you to go back.
"I wasn't reading about the blood moon." you blurted.
Your mentor's head tilted, a sly smirk on her face. "Oh, no?"
"Yeah, no, um.. I was just- I mean, I wouldn't try anything…so advanced, you know, um, before you said so."
Agatha smiled. Slightly mocking. Slightly humorous. She was amused.
"Oh, good. So you are a good little pet after all…"
"Student."
"What was that?"
"I'm a student, you- you said you're my mentor--"
Agatha rolled her eyes. "You keep saying that word dear, on and on again, mentor, like you think it holds some magic meaning in it. But you know what, pet? Even witchcraft is mostly just empty words. The person doing the incantation gives them power."
You stayed quiet for a moment. "Even humans?"
Agatha scoffed. "Yes, even boring little humans. Magic isn't just magic. It's an exchange of power depending on one's capability. That's why humans can only get so far with a few well chosen words out of a spellbook, and we," she smirked, a different look darkening her eyes, "can do so much more, even without it."
You stayed quiet, regarding her silently, and she sighed in annoyance.
"Oh, don't give me that look, darling, you're looking at me like I'm about to reveal the secrets of the universe."
You swallowed, and looked down. "Uh, sorry."
"Apology accepted." Said Agatha, fixing her hair. "You know I don't know why you keep doing this."
"Doing- what?"
Another scoff.
"This. This little cutesy act of yours, the big pleading eyes, like a puppy begging for scraps and attention. It's pathetic."
This must be what getting stabbed in the heart feels like, you thought to yourself silently. You were lucky your mentor was plenty good at stabbing people with her words. And you had a high pain tolerance. Perhaps you would stay and let yourself get stabbed to death one day.
"I'm not--" you started, knowing at once that it was of no use, "pleading."
"No?" Agatha grinned, her expression one of faux sympathy. "Then what's that little look in your eyes? You're acting like you didn't just scurry over to me like a lost cat."
"Thought you said I was a puppy."
That made her laugh. It was a genuine laugh, a real one, which wasn't all that common.
"Cat, dog, it's all the same to me, you're still a pet."
You stayed quiet. Agatha was right. You really were acting like a pet. Following her around and begging for some affection with your big doe eyes, hoping someone would take pity. And yet…
You looked back at your mentor, eyes now knowingly pleading. "Can you tell me more about magic?"
Agatha's blue eyes narrowed. "You'll learn more tomorrow, we're done for the day."
"Not like that. Just.. you know, in general."
"Oh in general?"
"Yeah."
"No."
"Wh--" Your face fell. "Why not?"
Agatha shrugged, getting up. "I have better things to do."
"But- wait- please--"
"Oh, please? We're begging now?"
That shut you up for a moment. You wondered why it made your heart hurt a little. You were used to mean words. You'd gotten plenty of them from your family before. So why were they still affecting you? Perhaps you were hoping this little mentorship would be your second chance at being part of a family. A proper one, with love and care and not--
Agatha laughed, mimicking a sympathetic pout. "Aww. Did I manage to kill your enthusiasm? Finally?"
"No." You shook your head, "Just…I thought…"
"Thought what? That I'd tell you nice stories and pretty spells and beautiful magic like in a fairy tale?"
"No…."
"Well spit it out then. What?"
"I thought- that- you'd talk to me more." You paused, quiet. "I hoped I could talk to you, about.. stuff."
Agatha paused before turning away. She gave you an odd look, one that you couldn't quite decipher, and just didn't answer. She turned abruptly again, then stepped forward, brushing a piece of nothing from your shoulder. You held your breath.
"Don't waste your time hoping, dear." She said, her voice now perfectly pleasant and dismissive. "That'll only make it hurt more when you don't get what you want."
And with that she strode away, brushing her hair back and not sparing you another glance.
You stayed put for a couple of seconds, thinking and unsure, your hand halfway up to your shoulder where Agatha's had been moments prior. You brushed your fingers over the spot, as if hoping to feel something there, a remnant of a gentle touch long gone. But it was too late. Whatever warmth was there, if there was any in Agatha Harkness's heart or touch, it had already faded away, along with the last of her footsteps on the cold, wooden floors. You took a breath, composed yourself, and sat back down to read. Perhaps tomorrow would be better. Yes, you convinced yourself, trying to ignore the stinging behind your eyes. Tomorrow... would be better.
A/N: this is here because i couldn't find any platonic found familyish fics for our favorite witchy witch so here we are. The reader is 16 here in my head (cause this was originally based on an OC of mine) but really you can imagine whatever else you want. The next episode drops on Friday where I live and if I get inspired by some feels I might write like a follow up fic or something similar with a bit more Agatha being nice(r) and maaaybe some hurt n comfort? idk, we'll see. fic title from Rabbit Heart by Florence + The Machine. Hope you enjoyed!!

waitt but what's different about your ocified velvette... i like her a little but find myself wanting more substance from her in canon tbh
TEEHEE WHAT A GOOD QUESTION I TOTALLY DIDN'T SET PPL UP TO ASK ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Okay sew me and @ajistorpid were talking and they inspired a good chunk of my ideas so you can blame them for feeding my sick delusions.
Read more just like last time bc I talk too much sorry but there's art in there too oooo you should look u should read my ramblings
As far as I know, Velvette has no canon age at death, cause of death, or death date so based on what we know we just crafted our own headcanons. AJ proposed she might've had parents who ran one of those family vlog channels with her as the face of it, becoming a child influencer under her parents' control. I was thinking she could've been a child model- yk like. dance moms or something. Idk I don't remember what was happening on that show— anyways. Yea
Either way she grew up constantly controled and perfection was her standard. All of her outside thoughts and feelings and interests and opinions were constantly dismissed in favor of what made her more marketable. She never did get that popular in life tho, and her mentors always shamed and blamed her for it.
Idk if this is canon or not, but the idea of the sinners designs reflecting their vices or things they regreted or hated in life is an untapped gold mine to me so that could explain where Velvette's supposed doll and clown themes come from. Became a toy dressed up and paraded around for the entertainment of others + joke never taken seriously. She'd hate that
(As for how that ties into my redesign…. me and AJ were thinking she could be a vampire doll, but I'm not sure IDK I wanna sketch that out and see what it's giving)
In hell she easilly fell back into this warped facsimile of her old life bc it was all she knew. "she feels some form of pseudo control and enjoyment because she has no one pulling her strings now" (<-AJ) SHE'S running things!!! Who's the puppet now!!!!!!
Then THAT had me thinking too because now that I think about it. Why Is she the backbone of the V's?? She's like. An undergrad student in my mind at the MOST and Vox and Val are two men pushing 40 I'm sure. I think a big part of it is the fact that those two are almost complete and utter buffoons who let their emotions cloud their actions constantly, Valentino most obviously but even tho Vox seems more composed like when he's talking Val down from his outburst and when he was talking to the press, we can still see he's a total mess—especially where Alastor is concerned. He lost it so bad during their duet HE SHORTED PENTAGRAM CITY'S POWER.
Now out of all the V's we've seen the least of Velvette (I'd call it what it is but yall gon get real mad at me), The most we really got out of her character was the overlord meeting (and despite her huge ego and unruly behavior she did end up speaking facts), so maybe she Is just as unstable as them in canon but canon is SHIT and this isn't about canon anymore. In my mind she's very much in charge of the back end of their work. Vox is obviously the head of the operation—or at least he seems like it to me—what with the tech company having his name and with him answering the interviews, but I think that's all he is. The figure head. Velvette is the brain behind it all. When Vox proposes new buisness endeavors off the cuff she's the one who goes back and makes sure they're getting handled properly because he doesn't really dig into the backend of how things happen. Vox goes to most of the conferences or whatever (Vel's too busy running her shows and serving cunt after all) but Vel follows up on what was learned.
(also yeah all that makes this very much an au of an au bc it'd take a lot of radical changes for the two of them to be friends I think. It's fun to imagine anyway)
Quoting AJ here bc I'm bad at paraphrasing and they said it well:
"And if we're going to make her sympathetic, (obviously not excusing her enabling a rapist) Val and Vox are grown ass men and she never got to experience the world outside a camera
Velvette is easily malleable with no real relationships!! Some victims tend to gravitate towards people who are similar to their abusers the only exception is that she feels like she has control this time"
THIS this. THIS! Okay uhh vague personal experience w/ abuse cw ig. skip this paragraph if you don't wanna hear it. But It kinda reminds me of my relationship with my parents- NOT THAT I SEE THEM AS TWO DADS AND A DAUGHTER I DO NOT BELIEVE IN THAT NOTION IN A POST PILOT WORLD If future content proves me wrong it proves me wrong but at this moment they're all equals in my mind (…and I hc them as poly BUT WE'LL GET THERE) but In my situation it's like. I hate my parents for the abuse they've caused me, my mom more than my dad bc she's satan incarnate, but there are still things I like about my dad and. Tolerate. About my mother. We still can talk cordialy and spend time together, have fun together even, and I show affection to them, but deep down I know I wanna cut my mom off later and maybe my dad too depending. Additionally my mom is completely Incompatent and pulls none of her weight so despite it all I've been forced to pick up the slack and become half the brains of this family. I do chores she should take care of. Handle money. Make important decisions about our health and safety she doesn't care about.
AAAny ways. This is so my version of Velvette. No I'm not projecting (I am). She pulls a big chunk of the weight around there (some of it being carried by Vox and virtually none by Val). She's very close with the two of them but isn't a fan of everything they do (Cares more for Vox than Val in my mind). Speaking of, she definitely isn't some saint now, she still makes the love potions and is Impassive to both Val and Vox's behavior, but part of that Is her just seeing it as part of the business. Shady practices and exploitation are par for the course in any business to her. She never truly grew out of the harmful mindsets ingrained into her by whoever her enabling caretakers were in life and they're still apparent in hell. (Maybe she even experienced some of the darker sides of exploitation in life but was groomed into thinking it was okay contributing to why she doesn't see Valentino's actions as heinous. Idk. thinking on it)
Circling back to my poly V's idea. Idk it just seems plausible to me. Vox and Val already have their whole thing going on, they all live together, and they all have nicknames for each other (Vox calling her my dear, Val calling her baby doll, Vel calling Vox darling). Ik that could just be their personalities and the pet names don't have to mean anything more but this is MY au and my word is gospel hope this helps. It just makes sense
I could go on and ON about the toxic insanity of the Poly V's in my mind— particularly between Vox and Valentino— but this is NOT their post so maybe next time. As for Velvette, I get the vibe that she'd be intimate with both of them and enjoy it but she's never the one to initiate anything. Sometimes they're all like this 🤞🏾 and others the boys are a complete turn off to her (main example being the difference in her attitude towards Vox in episode 3 vs episode 8). Her tolerance of them flips on a dime depending on how they're acting. She also prefers to be a casually entertained observer to VoxVal more often then not (ex. end of episode 8 imo)
Boys aside. My Velvette is still a social media influencer and she's all about advertising. advertising products (like the love potion), clothing looks, technology... Heck even herself. "You're nobody if you don't wear this or use this or look like this ^ - ^". Projecting on her even further by making her have a love/hate relationship with her profession aka the modeling aspect of it: she's always had a genuine love for fashion and dressing up but the internal pressure for perfection she's placed on herself makes it hard for her. She's very hard on her models and designers bc of this
Couldn't think of a segway for this but also WHAT HAPPENED TO VELVETTE WANTING TO FIGHT THE ANGELS??? The "full assault plan" against the angels??? And then when the fight actually came they were all just lounging around watching it go down like it was afternoon tv????? This isn't even a "we'll get to it in season 2" thing did they honest to god forget? Did that line not mean anything??
Well I didn't forget and it's pissed me off since my first rewatch of that meeting scene. Don't think we don't know how the V's got the angel head, but In my head Velvette was the one who initially proposed the idea for an assault against heaven and her insatiable need to feel respected and feared only spurred this plan on, incredible risk be damned.
It also felt weird to me that Velvette just. Let it go when Carmilla said the meeting was over. Just. "Oh ok! Plan cancelled no more attacking heaven ^ - ^ I'm gonna go scroll for the rest of the show!" Hu h. My au-ified Velvette would definitely fight her on it— if she thought killing angels would change the game and Carmilla held the secrets behind it she would pry! Blow up at her about it until she wasn't getting results and bitterly storming off with as much composure as she could muster. Not wanting to team up with Carmilla but find some way to use her for all she was worth and get her way in the end, use the power and resources the V's had to actually make a plan. Would it have worked without the Morningstars? Eh. Either way I'm sure she could delude herself into thinking they were the most powerful people in hell. Ugh I don't wanna make an au rewrite of the show and I that was never my plan so idk where that'd go but. Yea
ANYWAYS anyways. wow you made it to the end somehow! Here's your treat :3
Tumblr media
Context u didn't ask for: Some days Velvette overwhelms herself with her own impossible expectations. Nothing she creates or puts out is good enough. She gets extra anxious about her following; nothing's happened to them, but what if they see the miniscule flaw in her latest clothing that she sees? What if she's no longer perfect? (Even worse in the vamp Velvette redesign of her bc she literally feeds off their attention and admiration)
She'll snap at everyone and disapprove of every look and then hole herself away somewhere where she crashes and is just. So. Tired. But she'll be out of it the next day, ready to keep the conveyor rolling.

Characters
Detective Marley Droit (pronounced: dʁwa [it’s french]): A curt and stoic Uninclined (no magical abilities) detective working for Informed Law Enforcement in Salvatrice whose worked a few too many years and is feeling the weight of their decisions wear them down. They’re the overcast day to the Listener’s unending enthusiasm.
Listener (AKA Doc/Seer): A seer who pursued healing magic (a facet of Vitaemancy) and now works in a back-alley (and probably illegal) healing clinic in the lower city. Highly curious, they always seem to be poking their nose where it's most unwanted, especially when it comes to cases in their area of the lower city that Detective Droit might just be covering. They channel their foresight/divination through a set of tarot cards.
Unseen Voice: The voice that narrates when the Listener uses their foresight.
Morgan: The Listener’s mentor and the primary healer.
Setting
The Lower City of the fictional city of Salvatrice in a back alley healer and then down the street from the healer.
Context
The Listener hears of a robbery that has occurred down the street from their apprenticeship at a backend healer in the Lower City.
Script
[The scene fades into the sounds of cards shuffling as the Listener shuffles through a tarot deck. As the Listener splits and shuffles the cards, an indistinguishable murmuring gradually grows louder. The Listener draws a card. The murmuring quiets but doesn’t stop]
Unseen Voice: [Three voices echo, overlapping themselves and fading in-and-out to seem almost ethereal] “Five of Swords. Upright. These late eclipses in the sun and moon portend no good to us. They say, lamentings heard in the air; strange screams of death, and prophesying with accents terrible of dire combustion and confused events. Some say, the earth was feverous and did shake.”
[The Listener draws a second card]
Unseen Voice: “Seven of Swords. Upright. I will wear my heart upon my sleeve for daws to peck at. I am not what I am. And thus I clothe my naked villainy with old odd ends, stolen forth of holy writ, and seem a saint, when most I play the devil.”
[The murmurs grow louder. The Listener draws a third card. The murmurs abruptly stop]
Unseen Voice: [Three voices, all at once] “The Devil–”
[A door opens and the Listener’s cards flutter to the ground. The sound of the radio starts up again]
Morgan: “Oh! You’re still here. You clocked off an hour ago, what in the hells are you doin’ sneaking around my backroom?”
{—}
Morgan: “That apartment a’ yours I swear – that place is a beacon a’ trouble. You ought to move out.”
{...}
Morgan: “I hear ya, I hear ya. Money’s tight. I get it. But if push comes to shove kid—”
{...}
Morgan: “Alright, I’ll lay off of it. For now. ‘Sides, didn’t come back here to nag you again. Grapevine tells me that Detective of yours is sniffing ‘round here again.”
{...}
Morgan: [snorts] “Sure they aren’t.”
{...}
Morgan: “Whatever. Word on the street is some old money family was transportin’ some odd and ends through here – God knows why – and the transport got robbed! Don’t know what they were expectin’, driving through the Lower City in some fancy [in a posh accent] ‘Automobile’ is bound to get you in trouble if you’re not careful.”
{—}
Morgan: “God if I know. Not my business and, frankly, I don’t wanna know. You should know by now kid, the less you know, the better.”
{...}
Morgan: “I can see you practically vibrating out of your skin, kid. You’re off the clock so stop entertainin’ this old curmudgeon and go check out that crime scene before you blow a fuse.”
[Footsteps, running as the Listener rushes out the door. Tinkle of a bell as the door opens. Door shuts]
Morgan: That kid, I swear…
[Scene change to down the street. Listener’s footsteps slow from a run to a walk. Detective Droit’s voice, deadpan and a little monotone, fades in, questioning the driver of the transport.]
Droit: “Right. So you hit a bit of uneven road and thought you heard something shatter, making you pull over. You were checking the back of the van to see what had broken when you heard someone else enter the van but when you turned around, no one was there?
[Pen on paper as Droit writes something down]
Droit: “Did anything seem off?”
[Pause for unheard driver’s response]
Droit: [Narrating their writing] “A… small… box… Do you know what items went missing?
[Pause]
Droit: “Any idea why your client didn’t want you to know what was in the boxes?”
[Pause]
Droit: “Uhuh, and this client of yours—”
[Droit catches sight of the Listener. Droit swears under their breath]
Droit: [Sharply] “For Christ’s sake, how many times do I have to tell you. Get out of my crime scene.”
{—}
Droit: “You’re the furthest thing from a concerned citizen.”
{...}
Droit: “What you are is a nosy busy-body.”
{...}
Droit: “I don’t want or need your help. This is Informed Law Enforcement business.”
{...}
Droit: “Like I said the first fifty times, your involvement isn’t necessary, Seer. Though I guess Doc is more fitting now, huh?”
{—}
Droit: “I’m aware the definitely not up to regulation healers is where you work.”
{—}
Droit: “I don’t need you to persuade Morgan to let me see the security footage. Unlike you, if the case requires it, I’m authorised to access all security footage across the city.”
{...}
[Droit hesitates, thinking]
Droit: [Reluctantly] “Fine. But just this once. After we’ve seen the footage, you go on your merry way and I’ll get back to doing my job.”
{...}
Droit: “I don’t wanna hear it. It’s that or nothing.”
{...}
Droit: “That’s what I thought. Now c’mon, I don’t have all day.”
[Scene change. Back in Morgan’s back room. The radio is playing softly and a fan clicks in the corner. The Listener types on an old keyboard]
Droit: “Thought Morgan was gonna flay me alive when they saw me on their doorstep.”
{...}
Droit: [Scoff] “Not that bad. They’re your mentor, of course they’re lovely. But to anyone who's dipped even a toe into law enforcement? We may as well be the dirt that clings to the bottom of their shoes.”
{—}
Droit: “I’m not saying I blame them. [Bitterly] The others turn a blind eye to almost anything if they can reap a reward out of the folks in the Upper City, then come down like a ton of bricks if anyone from around here puts even a toe out of line.”
{...}
Droit: [Smugly] “But I guess that’s why I’m the detective with the generous pay and they’re still pushing papers behind their desks.”
{...}
Droit: “You found it?”
[Pause as Droit looks at the screen]
Droit: “Yeah. There’s the van.”
[Pause as they both watch the video footage]
Droit: “He’s stopped now, and there's the driver getting out.”
[Longer pause]
Droit: “It’s really like he said. There’s nobody there but you can see the van sway as if someone stepped inside.”
{—}
Droit: “What, like using Perceptoxis to create a cloaking illusion?”
{...}
Droit: “It’s plausible, but that’s gotta be some pretty powerful magic to both interfere with the cameras and the driver. And the Inclined would’ve had to be familiar with this street to know where your cameras are.”
{...}
Droit: “Although, they might not be Inclined at all.”
{...}
Droit: “It’s a bit of a stretch, but they could’ve bought an item infused with raw magic, something enchanted or maybe a potion.”
{...}
Droit: “That’s right. Not many people would’ve been able to afford that, so it can’t have been a local. That kind of high-level raw magic isn’t easy to do and is even harder to find.”
{...}
Droit: “But if they’re not a local, how’d they–”
[The chiming of a phone signals that Droit is getting a call]
Droit: “Hang on, I’m getting a call.”
[They pick up the phone]
Droit: “This is Detective Droit.”
[Pause as the person on the other end speaks]
Droit: “I’m already on a case I can’t—”
[Person on the other end interrupts. Pause]
Droit: “The Augurs? What’s that got to—”
[Interrupted again]
Droit: “The missing items belong to them?”
[Pause. Droit sighs, world weary]
Droit: “Trust a simple robbery to be involved with the biggest Seer family in Salvatrice.”
[Pause]
Droit: “Yeah, yeah. I’ll go speak with them as soon as I can. Alright. Bye.”
[Droit sighs again, even more world weary, before addressing the Listener]
Droit: “I’ve gotta go.”
[End]

Hi! Im someone who has been in the wcrp community for a few years now. Ive tried and failed to host my own servers but I can never seem to keep people interested/activity dies shortly after opening. I know you guys have been running this one for a while now so I was wondering if you had any advice for doing something like this?
Hello there! I compiled up some opinions from our staff team and in general some advice we'd give is; Unique feel to draw people in:
With our TTRPG aspects, custom dice-sysytems & singular clan roleplay we tend to get more heads poking around to just see how our server is run different than others. Custom emojis, special events, character tags made from the carl-bot & our premade character sheets are a big draw! I find that people enjoy getting to join in on a community that feels like getting involved in the fandom in a whole different way, advertising and highlighting what makes your rp special is my advice for that! ( Being partnered with different WCRP servers on discord especially clans united does wonders for advertising! )
Organization & Systems to make them stay:
SOTC has a lot of different systems behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly and to ensure our members can just soley focus on their own characters and roleplay. For example, we have character ages auto-updated on our website, different backends to keep track of character's blessings, skills, their litters and mentors... ect!
It's also important to have your information laid out in a way that's informative and not overly exhaustive, our website has a lot of information listed out on it, so we have a system of "buddies" (in-server helpers) to help out members with more direct questions on oorp and irp rules! Overall, just ensuring that you're ready to get people started and going as soon as you open is a good way to do it. ( A helpful and active staff goes a long way to ensure this )
Lastly, luck honestly has a lot to do with it. Even if you have all these things, it never guarantees that people will find and stick around.. I hope this was helpful and best of luck to you on making your own wcrp <33! - Lead Jude & SOTC staff

Master the Code: How Java, Python, and Web Development Tutoring on MentorForHire Can Supercharge Your Tech Career
In a world powered by software, coding is no longer just a niche skill—it's a core competency. Whether you're looking to break into tech, ace a coding bootcamp, land your first junior developer job, or scale your expertise as a senior engineer, personalized mentoring makes a dramatic difference. That’s where MentorForHire.com comes in—a platform that connects you with industry professionals for hands-on Java Tutoring, Python Tutoring, and Web Development Tutoring.
Here’s how specialized tutoring in these key areas can accelerate your learning journey and help you achieve your software development goals.
Why One-on-One Coding Tutoring Beats Generic Online Courses
Self-paced tutorials and free courses are great for dipping your toes in—but when you're serious about growth, they often fall short. Why?
You don’t know what you don’t know.
Debugging can become a time-wasting nightmare.
Without accountability, progress slows down.
You’re not getting job-ready feedback from a real developer.
MentorForHire solves all of these problems by connecting you with real mentors who’ve worked in tech and know what it takes to succeed. Whether you're working on a class assignment, preparing for interviews, or building a full-stack project, you'll get tailored support.
Java Tutoring: Build Enterprise-Grade Skills from the Ground Up
Java isn’t just for beginners—it powers billions of devices, from Android apps to massive backend systems used in finance, healthcare, and e-commerce. If you're serious about software engineering, Java Tutoring offers a rock-solid foundation.
With a mentor, you can:
Understand core concepts like classes, inheritance, interfaces, and exception handling.
Master data structures and algorithms for whiteboard interviews.
Build scalable applications using Java frameworks like Spring and Hibernate.
Get help with unit testing, debugging, and version control.
Prepare for certifications like Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
A mentor will not only explain the "how" of Java development but also the "why"—turning you from a coder into a software architect-in-training.
Python Tutoring: The Most Versatile Language in Tech
Python has become the go-to language for beginners and professionals alike because of its simplicity and power. Whether you want to get into automation, data science, machine learning, or back-end web development, Python Tutoring gives you the skills you need to thrive.
On MentorForHire.com, Python mentors can help you:
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Understand essential concepts like functions, loops, list comprehensions, and file I/O.
Use libraries like NumPy, pandas, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn for data analysis.
Build web apps with Flask or Django from scratch.
Automate tasks using Python scripts or integrate with APIs.
Whether you're solving LeetCode challenges or working on a startup prototype, personalized tutoring can take your Python skills to the next level.
Web Development Tutoring: Learn to Build the Web, Not Just Consume It
Today’s digital economy is built on the web—and web developers are in high demand across every industry. But with so many tools and frameworks, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. That’s where Web Development Tutoring comes in.
From front-end to back-end to full-stack, tutors on MentorForHire.com can guide you step-by-step:
Front-End Skills:
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
Responsive design using Flexbox and Grid
JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue
Version control with Git and GitHub
Back-End Skills:
Node.js with Express or Java with Spring Boot
REST APIs and database integration (MySQL, MongoDB)
Authentication systems (OAuth, JWT)
DevOps basics: deploying apps with Heroku or AWS
You’ll work on actual projects like to-do lists, dashboards, or e-commerce stores—and get expert feedback every step of the way.
