Odorous House Ant (Tapinoma sessile) in my backyard, May 2018. The name "odorous" comes from this ant's characteristic smell which is described as "rotten coconuts or over-ripe bananas it exudes when squeezed". I have never squeezed this species so can't confirm the smell. This cicada was slow this morning in 63 degrees. This magnificent insect seemed not to mind hanging out on me. Hope I didn't cause molting interuptus.
