When a high rate of fluid flow, high working pressure, and low-pressure drop are required, the ball valve is used as a water On-Off Valve.

Ball valves are particularly well suited for use as outlet valves for pumps, tanks, turbine inlets, and dam outlet valves (such as Howell Bunger, bellows and needle valves).

Pneumatic diaphragm and spring actuator is most commonly used. Control valve can have size ranging from 3mm to 500 mm and can be used for pressures upto 4000 kg/cm2 and temperatures-250°C to 800°C.
