Yacht Rockies

Quick trip (really quick - 22 hours) to Denver with the Fabulous Yachtsmen. Landed about noon and drove 2 hours to Copper Mountain (Copper, not Cooper, as I embarrassingly said on mic. I blamed the altitude and the blonde wig.) It’s a cute little mountain town - kind of reminds me of Palisades Resort (formerly Squaw Valley). We were missing Cam, but Tommy made a rare appearance, so it felt like old times, only new. Played to a small but mighty crowd of about 100 Copper Mountaineers. We were all fading by the end of dinner, so we hit the hay early to prep for the 4:45 lobby call the next day. Everyone was groggy, but the bonus sunrise helped. 😍

This guy right here might look super spooky, but @richardshawguitarist is in fact one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and on top of that is also a great teacher. All those years of classical theory and not being shown how to fully use it have been frustrating, but thanks to some lessons from Rich I’m starting to understand theory on a whole new level and its pushing me towards becoming a better composer and harpist. Thanks for showing me that musical theory is a beautiful thing, Rich! 🎶 This Is How We Do🎶 Michigan

RepliKaty hit the road for our Michigan debut at Gaylord Alpenfest. Gaylord is a little town about 4 hours north of Detroit - not quite the UP, but you can see it from here. They host a festival that has been going on for 59 years, and we were lucky enough to be chosen as the headliner on closing night. It stays light until about 9 pm, so even though it took all day to get there, we landed in time to see the scenery. (A popular time, it turns out - Air Force One was there as well!)

how it started... how it's going

Hit Bob Evans for dinner, where we all ordered biscuits and then they were out. Scott and Tony drove the two cars and we found out that Tony's middle name is Andretti.

Tina, Doug, and Evan drove up, so we all had a great breakfast at Rise and Dine and then walked the street fair. Found the Gaylord mural and tested out group shots.

Then they went golfing and I went back to the hotel to costume up. The festival had great hospitality for us - 2 RVs, a quick change tent, and baskets of local goodies 🤤. And then, show time!

Early lobby call for the drive back to DTW. Unfortunately, our Denver layover went from 5 hours (which was plenty!) to 7 because of delays. But we made it back safe and sound, straight stuntin', yeah, we do it like that!
