Banuk Sickness Eater

-looks so sick it eats corruption

-bandeau top

-you can have lancehorn/grazer energy with the horns (whichever kyntäjä sarvipää you like)

- i'm not sure what weather this is for, looks like you'd get cold when you are still but hot when running

Banuk Ice Hunter

-realistic winter wear

-can withstand the freezing temperatures of sylens ghosting you after each mission

-oh and glinthawks

-this is the kind of outfit you want to fight a stormbird in

Although I didn't sketch them I would also like to mention Nora Silent Hunter (the light version) and Aloy's basic outfit with the orange/blue tones which is honestly iconic

Aloy for the niche asks?

a song that reminds me of them: Honestly her theme music is so longing and distinctive it feels a little corny to try and frame her with a more contemporary song. But... "Deep Green" by Marika Hackman

what they smell like: Oohh she has got a rind on her, I can tell you that much. Dirt and sweat and blood and metal and greenery and smoke that's only barely kept in check by her plunging through bodies of water. She smells saltier in Forbidden West!

an otp: Oh gosh so many eligible Bachelors and Bachelorettes. I haven't played "Forbidden West" yet but in descending order I like Petra, Varl, Talanah, and Nil.

a notp: It's not a notp but I like Erend just staying permanently unrequited. Like I'm sorry, dude, but that mustache is AWFUL.

favorite platonic/familial relationships: Well, Rost was really her only family and I do like the very deep loneliness inherent in their relationship. But also the ending where you find Elisabet's body really made me feel things.

a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with: I'm not really familiar enough with the fandom's headcanons to say what I disagree with, but I have a personal headcanon that she developed an almost masochistic love for spicy foods from her time in the Sundom because Nora food (and Rost's and her own cooking) is pretty bland by comparison.

the position they sleep in: Curled up on a bedroll under the stars, spear close, back to the fire, staring out into the night, wheels of her mind spinning, but wary to her surroundings.

a crossover au i’d love to see them in: Not really a crossover but I do love HZD AU's in general. It's fun figuring out what tribes people would be in. For Aloy herself I know the wanderer/seeker thing is a big part of her character, but I'd be very interested in a kind of farming/homestead mechanic for the game. It would be cool if she could be the leader of a slowly growing settlement of her own and she can go on little missions to improve the living conditions there for her people. (If Forbidden West has any mechanic like this PLEASE let me know I will go out and buy it right now).

Obligatory "favorite Aloy armors” post because i love the outfits in this game too much not to ramble a little about them. I mostly focused on Heavy armors because as much as i liked most of the lighter versions i rarely ended up buying or using them so i’m less familiar with their design.

5) Oseram Sparkworker: perfect for blending in when you visit Petra at Free Heap or fighting Stormbirds and Thunderjaws without breaking a sweat. I’m not a fan of the padded pants but they’re mostly covered. Favorite detail: the little tools on the apron. I’ll assume Aloy saw an Oseram blacksmith survive electrocution at the forge and thought “hmm, that might work against machines too”. I will not acknowledge the headpiece.

4) Shadow Stalwart: super noisy, super elegant (that pattern! those colors! did you see that quiver??), super effective against Watchers and Longlegs. It doesn't hide her most recognizable features, but if something like this worked for Lara Croft that one time it can work on her too. Favorite detail: the vigilante mask, though i always regret keeping it on during cutscenes.

3) Banuk Ice Hunter: the ideal choice when you hear Glinthawks squawking in the distance and you want to Get Ready but not look like you're walking around in your pyjamas. This armor does its job very well while looking super cute, soft and comfy but not too puffy (seriously, master armor???); as for the headpiece... i’ve seen much worse. Favorite detail: the multicolored braid (all Banuk armors have it but in this one it’s also a belt) and the triangular patterns, especially on the pouches.

2) Carja Blazon aka "You barely even look like a savage, dressed like that" (ah, what a warm welcome that was...): prettiest. armor. EVER. The Carja are classist pricks most of the time but they’re also the best at designing armors and complementing them with machine parts without overdoing it. They’re all elegant and... feathery-looking, but this one has to be their masterpiece. Aloy's torso is exposed and her pants are full of holes so i felt a little guilty using it in the DLC since she complains about the cold even with the thickest pyjamas Banuk armor on, but now that i'm done with that area i can wear it purely for the Aesthetic™. Favorite detail: the yellow sash around the waist. 

1) Outcast/Nora Brave/Shieldweaver: is this cheating? Nah. This is basically Aloy's default armor in its light, medium and heavy version, and each one is iconic in its own way. It’s especially cool to spot the differences between the rougher, probably self-made Outcast armor and Teb’s more refined style; but the Shieldweaver has a special place in my heart because of the added “old Ones” element which is so very Aloy, and because it makes this casual gamer feel safe pretty much everywhere :P Favorite detail: the red and blue hem, which i assume is Aloy’s personal touch since it stays on all three no matter what else is upgraded.

Honorable mention: the Banuk Trailblazer aka this one right here

because the headpiece is so over the top i can’t possibly take Aloy seriously when she has it on, which is no small feat if you think about it. Please someone tell the Banuk to tone it down a little, this is going to give someone a headache. Favorite detail: the braid again, which is now around her neck.
