he’s helped by maskad worker - those who are forcibly magically disfigured and made to wear masks, becoming the lowest strata - at the college, who’s able to guide the student to safety
but they catch the attention of powerful people, leading the two of them to be drawn together, developing a complicated friendship

I really enjoyed it!#I feel like I don’t read too many sff books with like; truly unique and new worldbuilding (that also have character/narratives that I enjoy#I liked the slow paced worldbuilding-and-character focused narrative.#Not everything is revealed about the world initially; but just naturally woven in. It’s all super interesting#from the knyad species and their society; to the biology and architecture details#and magic (which - is basically science using a particular substance).#There’s lots of discussion about class and disability too.#There is a glossary at the end which is useful if you’re feeling confused initially!#Love the contrasts of the two MCs & how they interact with the world and their developing friendship - can’t wait to see where that goes.#there’s a brief touch on the fact that since the species don’t procreate; relationships are different and less significant to them - though#There’s some flirting and hope for a relationship for once MC but it solidly doesn’t go anywhere#no romance#also: I always love when I’m reading a fantasy/sci-fi book and people use bicycles. like just the normal kind.#apidecca duology

I firmly believe that Annabeth should have shoved, or at least made an attempt towards Percy, after the "pinecone fate" comment because, even if it was funny, was so wrong of him to say. Especially after literally being told that 1.) someone died sacrificing themselves for others 2.) that was basically Annabeth's sister and 3.) the last child ever known of the big three. Like there should have been no reason that Percy made that joke, even if he was critical of Zeus' choice, or that Annabeth AND Grover let that slide so easily. As much as I love him, he should have been checked.

halpp im playing this game and ig theres like 2 gamemodes. and in the original one you r always a man but im playing the other newer one (which is harder mainlybc the wiki is entirely focused around the other one skull) and im a woman (bc u get to make yr own character). and one small thang that ig they didnt fully think abt is that i got my husband pregnant

Okay so maybe the wrinkly split head devil isn't the Aging devil itself, since it being called aging definitelly feels like a mistranslation and and public safety wanting to erase old age by sacrificing the younger generation fits the point the chapter is trying to get across much nicer than if the devil was aging itself (+ if you think about it for 2 seconds erasing aging as a whole is a terrible fucking idea since no one will be able to grow anything anymore and people will be stuck as babies and kids forever whereas erasing old age should just make people not age past adulthood and probably cause people who are already elderly to just dissapear on the spot)
But that doesn't mean i'm keeping Cherryboy the exact same because if old age specifically is enough to achieve primal fear level then aging as a whole has gotta be one too. So hooray! someone's getting a slight revamp in the future :)
#i'm not changing his storyline in part one nor his design but his overall backstory will change slightly#but in his main design he is now the Aging fiend instead of straight up devil. i'll definitelly cook up a full devil design for him later#and you know him being a primal fear is fun because i had this idea that even after dying Cherry retains a sliver of his memories#from past iterations. if he is that strong of a devil then he can probably do that#and i can use this as an excuse to why i never made designs for him in hell :) i've got some fun ideas brewing#basic idea so far is that Cherry has a fascination with watching life (basically aging and its effects on living beings) even tho he has#hardly any attachment to life itself. dying is just a part of it same as growing old and such he doesn't feel anything when it happens#to other people and also himself#but being an enormously powerful devil in hell he can only watch this dance of life and death from afar as an outside observer#so after god knows how long he grows tired of sitting there in hell and kills himself to be reborn on earth#and immediatelly goes out of his way to become a fiend. severely weakening his strenght but bringing him closer to the lesser beings#by doing so. and now he can observe life from upclose and interact with the other creatures roaming around. which is something he finds#immense enjoyment in#think like a god that roleplays as a human every once in a while just because they're bored. and when they die they go back to godhood#so thats why all of Cherry's versions on earth are these dudes w animal skulls. little fiends#he can be strong and all-powerful when this life is over. and in hell he will look back at it quite fondly#csm#csm oc#chainsaw man#csm spoilers#csm part 2#Cherry#hyena ramblings

think im really struggling to find the middleground between "not pathologizing all my behaviours" and "these are textbook symptoms of the disorders i have"
#i think i made more progress wondering i do/experience i have is related to my disorders. vs when i got extremely paranoid#and constantly checking myself on if im just using my disorders as an excuse y'know#because i have symptoms. a lot. between The Disorders. all of which are quite pervasive in how i interact with the world around me#i think this goes back to the fear i developed that everyone who follows me only does so to monitor me and find reasons to ruin my life#which i can talk about Now because im not. having an episode about it. but basically every period of not posting ive had on this acct was#fueled by severe paranoia of everyone here so loke#oh but anyways that fear made me constantly check myself on everything every post i made i severely scrutinized or id just not post#so i started checking myself on Every Symptom. and now it's developed into this#i think?????? lol#also mentally might've just overcorrected when i saw posts rightfully criticizing the pathologizing of everything you#do as a Potential Symptom. which is a conversation that has merit of course#but i think i way overcorrected mentally and now just assume nothing is a symptom. askfhalfjlsjda#ughhhhh it's so tricky. not a vent btw im typing in my diary ^_^

Season Hillscrafted)#the idea being that Joe and Xb base together and it goes kinda like a mix of HCBBS and S8#it was very difficult coming up with something that they might do but we decided that it would be like... an ancient civilization ruin#but like. you have Joe over here trying to accurately recreate inch to inch the details of a real archeological site#and Xb who's just balling#so it being an ancient civilization I'm hoping would relax the Must Be Accurate Down To Inch part of Joe's brain#and have him go ''well I'm just theorizing how it might have looked back in the day'' about any inaccuracies#like.....
