what is the bast web hosting?
So you're looking for a web host and don't know where to start. Searching for a good web host provider can seem like an overwhelming task. All web hosts are not created equal and it's important in doing your due diligence. First you want look for one that's accessible that offers customer support around the clock. You want one that has 24 hour support either by phone, live via chat or at least email ticket support. The last thing you want is to find your website down with no way to address the problem in a timely manner. You want quality hosting at an affordable rate. The first thing is to establish what kind of hosting plan you require
.
Who Needs What Kind Of Hosting Package
There are a few different choices when choosing a web host. You have shared hosting, VPS hosting and Dedicated Server hosting. If you're an individual who runs a blog or small business than shared hosting probably will suffice. However if you have an established blog or an e-commerce online store than you would require more bandwidth and disc space. If you fall into this category you would want to look at a VPS hosting plan or even possibly a dedicated server. Some hosts just have hosting packages tailored for WordPress users as well. These can be very sufficient if you run only WordPress blogs and small WordPress websites. Also most packages come with Cpanel but not all. It's highly recommend getting one that comes with Cpanel or Plesk for more latitude. Most hosts now days come with Cpanel even at the shared hosting level. Cpanel gives you the ability to do many things to your website. From adding a database, domains, uploading and downloading files and many other important options.
What Comes With A Web Hosting Plan
Some web hosts packages come with a limit on the number of domains allowed while others are unlimited. You want to know if an SSL certificate comes with the hosting. Does it have a one click installation on WordPress and many other scripts via Cpanel. Are the servers uptime reliable and what's their location? Is their uptime 99%? You want to choose a hosting provider in the same country where you reside for optimum performance. And how many servers are available.
These are some very key points to look into when deciding on a web host service. It's very important to have a checklist of things to look for when choosing a web host so you can give your readers and customers to your website a more enjoyable online experience. The goal is to find the best web host at the best price the best suits your website needs.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

EC2
Một số lưu ý để ước tính chi phí Amazon EC2 là: Operating systems, Clock hours of server time, Pricing Model, Instance type and Number of instances
Pricing models for Amazon EC2:
On-Demand Instances
Reserved Instances
Spot Instances
Dedicated Hosts
On-Demand Instances
Spot Instances
Amazon EC2 Spot instances allow you to request spare Amazon EC2 computing capacity for up to 90% off the On-Demand price.

Migrating Data to the Cloud
Online data transferAWS Virtual Private Network
AWS Database Migration Service
Nhanh chóng, an toàn thông qua public internet
AWS DataSync
Nguồn: https://aws.amazon.com/datasync/?whats-new-cards.sort-by=item.additionalFields.postDateTime&whats-new-cards.sort-order=desc
Offline data transferAWS Snowball

Thanksgiving Won't Be The Same This Year – But There’s Plenty To Be Thankful For
I know my daughter and I will be a little sad without our found family this holiday, but we’ll hope that, by this time next year, we can all be together again
— By Nancy Jo Sales | Guardian USA | Monday November 23, 2020

‘I love getting up early when everyone is still sleeping to start preparing the feast.’ Photograph: Ellen Isaacs/Alamy
love Thanksgiving. Not the Thanksgiving of American myth, where benevolent pilgrims revel in the harvest with their good friends the Natives, whom they would never think of enslaving or massacring – not that insidious lie – but the Thanksgiving of my own making, the one that has become a tradition for me and my daughter and our found family. And I wonder how it will feel, this year, to not be able to gather and celebrate together.
I started hosting Thanksgiving dinner about 12 years ago. That was when my mother and stepfather started spending their winters in Florida and gently let us know that they would no longer be having Thanksgiving for our entire family at their home in New Hampshire. What? No more waking up in the morning to seeing my endearingly agitated mother, still in her bathrobe, basting the big bird that was already in the oven, sending waves of intoxicating turkey smell throughout the house? No more talking and drinking all day with my brothers or sailing down the hill on plastic sleds, all of us winding up in a laughing tumble in the snow that used to reliably fall, before global warming made the weather much more unpredictable?
Life is unpredictable; that’s one of its great pleasures and perils. People find jobs, move away, get married and have kids, have fights that seem to leave relationships beyond repair … But no matter what was happening in our family, there was always Thanksgiving, when we would reconnect, and if necessary, mend. Everybody seemed to know that this was our yearly chance to do it. The biggest fights we ever had on those holidays were over who should get the second drumstick, and was that really a valid word in Scrabble? “‘Plew’? Come on!” “Haha, look it up!”
The first year my parents hosted a smaller version of Thanksgiving in Florida, I couldn’t make it. I didn’t want to have to tell them I couldn’t afford the trip, or that I had become separated from my then husband. I didn’t want to face all the uncomfortable questions families seem to feel they have a right to ask. But what was I going to do about Thanksgiving dinner? I didn’t want to let down my daughter, then eight years old, by not having some kind of festive gathering; I also didn’t know if I was up to the job. I had never cooked a turkey!
But parental guilt is a great motivator. And so it was that I lugged a 20lb bird home from the supermarket and managed – more nervous than my mother had ever been in this grand undertaking – to prepare my first Thanksgiving spread. I invited a handful of people, stray cats from the neighborhood who hadn’t made other plans. Miraculously, nothing went wrong. It all turned out delicious, and lovely. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship between me and Thanksgiving hosting.
I love getting up early when everyone is still sleeping to start preparing the feast. I love using all the little tricks that I learned from my mother and grandmother: a cheesecloth draped lightly over the turkey for the first three hours to keep it moist; a spicy apricot puree whipped into the sweet potatoes to make them mouth-watering; a splash of bourbon in the pecan pie. I usually ask people to come around 2, so they can talk and drink while I’m finishing cooking the food, which I serve around 4. I always make a playlist beforehand (the keys to any good party: good music, good food and lots of wine) which starts out jazzy (Benny Goodman, Ellla Fitzgerald) and ends up danceable (Lizzo, Prince, Britney).
Yes, we dance. One year my friends Amy and Austin did a tongue-in-cheek duet to Scream and Shout that belonged on Drunk Dancing with the Stars. We all clapped and cheered. Amy owns a restaurant and Austin is an artist; she is of Japanese heritage, and he is gay. Over the years, we’ve been graced with the presence of Iranian filmmakers, African-American musicians and writers, a Japanese restaurateur, a Turkish café owner, a Pakistani journalist, an Indian web designer, a transgender singer, and more. It’s my New York family. As the evening winds down, we all collapse on the couch and watch a funny movie. First Wives Club, anyone?
But now, with Covid raging across the US, Thanksgiving gatherings like ours are cancelled. And so what will we do, my daughter and I, without all these people, without this warm party, this fun? I know we’re going to be a little sad, but we’ll have each other, and we’ll be thankful for that. We’ll be thankful we have food and shelter, and that a vaccine is on the way. We’ll make dinner and Zoom with family and friends. And we’ll hope that, by this time next year, we can all be together again.

Trick or Treat!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS! here’s my quick and last contribution for lapidot halloween week! it’s been another good week with great lapidot art, fics, etc. and I can’t wait to do this again and write a bunch of more works.
@lapidot-week
Day 7 Prompt: Halloween
AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/12579224
Words: 2.8K
Halloween night was flourishing and ready for its revelries. Beach city would be concealed in spooky decorations by now, and possibly a couple of children, including gems for this night, are preparing for the ritual of trick-or-treating.
Steven had already invited Connie over to the temple for Halloween since they have been planning this all month. The young quartz was dressed as one of his favorite fictional characters Lonely Blade for this night. And as for his best friend, she was one of the doctors from a show she once watched called Under the Knife. Their costumes were handcrafted and rather imprecise, specifically Steven’s kimono and cardboard sword as well as Connie’s grisly medical uniform, but not all homemade costumes had to be perfect. They had ghastly themed satchels with them that were ready for them to be filled with all kinds of sweets. The two buds gaped at each other with feverish grins and guaranteed themselves that they were going to have a heck of a night, knocking on people’s doors dressed as fictional personas and getting candy for it. It was going to be fun! And it was their first Halloween, too. All they had to do was leave the living room as they were literally right by the temple’s door.
“So, are you ready for a night of thrills and confections Steven?” Connie asks him.
“Yup! It’s just going to be you, me, and…I guess a whole Halloween night ahead of us?” Steven replies unassured.
He hummed and contemplated for just a second. One thing for sure was that the whole party of two was all set, but Steven couldn’t help to feel that there needed to be more amity, more company to join them to share their delight with. It would just be more exciting that way.
“Hmm…I don’t know, Connie. Do you think we should have more people coming with us?” Steven asks this time.
“Well, I guess that would be okay. But who else do we know would be free tonight and join us in the last minute?” Connie replies also inquired.
“The gems wanted to watch over us but they had to go on another mission today so…” and that’s when it hit him. “OHH WAIT. I think I know the perfect bunch who would gladly want to trick or treat. That is until we could teach them about what it is though.”
Connie knew exactly who he was talking about. “Oh I see. We’re definitely taking them.” She says poised. “Come on, let’s go warp to them and hope they aren’t busy!”
“Yeah!”
So they decided they were quickly going to head to the barn and have their two other best friends join them for Halloween night. They warped to the now frigid countryside and showed up to the barn unparalleled but beaming. “Lapis! Peridot!” they called out. The barn residence was also elated to see the two kids visiting, gasping when they spotted them and coming down the truck balcony to meet their guests. “Steven! Connie!” they also exclaim together. It was a blissful meetup, all good to see each other feeling obliged and inquisitive.
“So uh, Steven, what’s with you and Connie’s attire?” Peridot inquires.
“Oh, this is my Lonely Blade costume for Halloween!” Steven replies.
“And I’m supposed to be a doctor.” Connie also answers. “Steven and I are going trick-or-treating tonight and we were going to ask you, Lapis and Pumpkin if you wanted to join us.”
The two gems were intrigued. Peridot was sure that she has seen or heard of this outing somewhere before. And obviously it had to be somewhere in the internet, but she could be thinking of something like an anime convention which is completely different. Lapis on the other hand had been familiarized with Halloween before. She remembered secretly watching an episode of Camp Pining Hearts that Peridot forgot to watch where the background was set for ‘halloween’. And throughout that episode and the characters’ acting in it, she could give a hint on what trick-or-treating sort of was.
“You mean you and Steven are going out to take candy from people with those clothes on?” the blue gem assumes.
“Yeah. Something like that.” Connie replies.
“It’s going to be our first time but we’re a little low on groups.” Steven says. “We just want to know if you guys are free for a night filled with sweets. I even got spare pillowcases for you to have your own stashes of candy.”
“Hmm…Well this should be interesting!” Peridot says keenly. “We’re going to partake in this trick or treat festivity without doubt. Isn’t that right, Lapis?”
They both gawk at each other. “Wait, Peridot, I don’t think we’re allowed to go without costumes.” Lapis says. “It’s not going to work out if we just go out like this.” Another time for the green gem to contemplate. If her barn family was going to take part in this, then she had to find some last minute outfits right away. And as a matter of fact, she remembered already having some getups acquired a few months back.
“Not to worry. I happen to already to have costumes for all of us before this even started.” Peridot enlightened. Lapis was officious about what she was talking about, until she also reminisced what it was. “All of you wait here for just one second. I’m going to put on mine right now and show it to all of you.” The green gem hurried to the upstairs of the barn to find the costumes.
Lapis watches her haste with a faint grin. “Oh boy, I didn’t think she would have any use for it until now.” She utters. Pumpkin and the two guests were sticking around curious.
Peridot’s rambling could be heard a little from outside the barn. When she managed to get herself in her aforesaid costume, she excitingly got back downstairs and displayed her apparel with her arms widespread.
“Tah-dah!” she says stridently and stabs an imprinted flag on the ground. Her costume was this brunet colored outfit from her cap, jacket, and shorts that were made with ruggedly basted fabrics and cotton, much like a camper’s uniform. And to make things more clearly, the flag she was holding was just the Canadian flag painted green, and fixtures in her suit such as a necklace and sewn patches were triangular.
“Huh. You’re supposed to be…” Steven closely recognizes and gets interjected.
“That’s right! I’m Percy from Camp Pining Hearts!” Peridot professed. “I always thought I would make a good Percy in a real life, so I ordered this outfit online and use it for ‘roleplay’.”
“I tell her to stop every time she does that.” Lapis mentions.
“You’re just jealous that I’m better at impersonating than you.” The green gem says ardent, and her roommate replies by shaking her head and hazily smirking.
That was one getup down. Now it was just left with Lapis and Pumpkin. “So if Peridot already has a costume, what about you and Pumpkin?” Connie inquires.
Peridot encroaches again to say the expedient matter. “Oh that’s fine, too. I also ordered another campers outfit for Lapis so she could be my Pierre.” She says and causes Lapis to blush feebly. “And Pumpkin accidently made her a ghost costume yesterday when she chewed off tiny holes on a white sheet we had.”
“It’s perfect then!” Steven exclaims ecstatic. “We’ll just wait until they put on their costumes and head off to Beach City.” Pumpkin replies eagerly barking.
Lapis had nothing against the outfit Peridot got her, considering it was no different to her getup when she played baseball. It was rather like she had something in contrast to the texture while wearing it. “I’d rather wear the ghost costume.” She says mildly.
The blue gem took a while to put on her identical attire and stood side by side with Peridot. Pumpkin was literally blanketed with a white sheet with two peep holes so she could see. Now the group of two kids, two gems and one pumpkin was eventually prepared with elaborate costumes and eagerly ready for the Halloween night tradition. They warped back to Beach City and recalled the whole plan out. It was seven o’clock, they head to the suburbs where most residences should be ready to give out candy, and knock on doors or ring the doorbells to exclaim “TRICK OR TREAT!”
The group walked the sidewalks and seemed to be one of the only few walking in this hour. “Hey Lapis, have you ever tasted candy before?” Peridot asks her partner. “No.” she replies. “Maybe Pumpkin has though…” Pumpkin looks at them and woofs. Steven led the way to the first house that he was already familiar with. Only it was ornamented with fake spider web and jack o’ lanterns for the current occasion. Everyone was standing by the doorway and ready with their empty satchels to spew. “You guys ready?” Steven asks fruitlessly and everyone nods. He then reaches for the doorbell to impel it and hear a chime from the inside.
Grumbling was also perceived before somebody came out, seeming like the host was looking for the bowl of candy. Eventually the door opens and reveals a woman with dense gray-yellow hair and garbed with a bath robe.
“GIVE US THE SWEETS!” Peridot exclaims right away and reaching out her pillowcase.
“Peridot…” Steven gapes at her cogently and amending.
“Oh yeah wait…” she chortles awkwardly. “What I meant was…”
Altogether, the batch brought out a jubilant “Trick or Treat!”
The woman who was Vidalia chuckles delighted. “Well what do we have here…?” she asks. “Looks like a samurai, a doctor, two summer campers and a ghost dog!”
“We’re also a couple!” Peridot mentions supremely.
“Technically who we’re dressed as aren’t really a couple…” Lapis says. “But…yeah we are.”
Steven chortles and gives out his candy bag. “Looks like you’ve been busy for Halloween too, huh Vidalia?” he inquires.
“It’s just mild decorating.” She replies. “You bunch are the firsts ones to come by this door. I’d honestly be glad if you all would be the only ones I’d have to see tonight. These costumes look fantastic.”
“Thank you!” Connie says.
The first tumble of confectioneries was given to Steven and so on. “Anyways, here ya go you kids.” Vidalia takes a handful of assorted candy and spills them into their sachets one by one. “It’s just candy corn and mini chocolates but they’re edible once you eat a whole bunch.”
They ambled off the doorway once their sweets have been received. “Happy Halloween!” Steven farewells to Vidalia and sees the door shut. He stays ahead and walks beside Connie. “It’s going to be a lot better from her.” His best friend utters.
As they were walking to the next house, Pumpkin got herself inside her own candy sachet that Lapis was holding for her and tried devouring the recent candy corn they got. “Pumpkin, you’re not supposed to eat the candy until we’re finished!” Peridot seizes her and takes her out of the bag. “Ah, looks like you took off your costume too. You wouldn’t want to be trick or treating as just a sentient veggie head now would you?”
Lapis gapes at both of them. “I’ll just hold her for now.” She says and lets Peri give their child into her arms. She took out the ghost costume out of the candy sack and layered it onto her. “That’s better.” The green gem says and the pumpkin pup yelps lightly.
“There are a lot of houses out here…” Lapis observes. “You think the woman back there liked out outfits?”
“I’m sure she did!” Peridot replies. “I did say that we were a couple just to emphasize our matching dynamic. We would have gotten that whole bowl if she knew the relationship of who we’re going out as tonight!”
“Definitely.” They gawked at each other and snickered.
Plenty of unversed to acquainted houses were being scouted by the minute and receiving loads and loads of confections right away. Peppermint, gum, candy bars, protein bars, and mostly a bunch of cheap candy corns were being stuffed into their sachets. It was all enough for Peridot and Lapis to try out and savor in one night. The green gem was right when she said Vidalia must have liked her and Lapis’ costumes, as the hosts who came out after countless doorbell ringing’s were charmed to see them. At least that was in her perspective anyway. Of course everyone would come to a liking with Steven, Connie, and Pumpkin’s handmade costumes too.
The half quartz also seemed pretty happy that the barn family was relishing Halloween very well. He and Connie occasionally watched them from behind, seeing them ramble about their night so far and bragging about their costumes and amounts of confectionaries. They were loud, and hard not to overlook. But they let them be and listened to their “trick or treat!” greeting get more ecstatic by every house they stop at.
An hour or two must have passed presumably. As they would think they were finishing up, sometimes the gem couple had to make their group halt since Pumpkin kept pouncing away and barking around jack o’ lanterns on people’s lawns. Lapis and Peridot roughly let go of their now filled pillowcases and the camp flag, just to chase the pumpkin dog stirringly for more than thrice. As for the other two, they hoped the whole neighborhood wouldn’t get angry at either both of them, or all of them. “You know better than to disobey your moms, Pumpkin!”
“Connie, they are hard to keep apart from each other…” Steven expresses.
“I’ve hung out with them before. I know exactly what you mean.” Connie relays.
Their last stop was by the boardwalk. A lot of the hosts there were familiar and gave a bunch of commercial sweets. Most of the time it was merely stuff they already sold instead of candy. But in due course, all of them grew tired from pacing around the Beach City precinct. They looked inside their sachets to see a satisfying extensive of teeth rotting delicacies. Thus it was time to head back to the temple.
The group huddled around the living room. “That was some good trick-or-treating guys!” Steven announces and sits down on the couch with the rest.
“I don’t think I’ve ever worn a costume for so long and get rewarded with it.” Connie says. “But I guess I should take my doctor’s coat to relax.”
“Well I’m keeping my camping uniform on.” Peridot says. “I don’t know about you guys, but after tonight I’m making this my new gem clothes from now on.”
“It looks good on you Peri, but I say just keep it in the barn once we get back.” Lapis expresses.
“Oh, okay.”
All of them grabbed their big bags candy stashes and splashed them all into their assemblies. There was a barrage of sweets and made everyone’s pupils turn into stars. And this was the part in Halloween where they could finally try a few portions of candy.
Pumpkin had a head start and buried her face within her own candy pile to feed herself. Peridot picked up a piece of cherry licorice and perceived its texture. “Hmm…Interesting feel.” She comments. “I’m kind of unsure of what it might taste like.”
“That’s cherry licorice, Peridot.” Connie says. “It’s basically supposed to taste sweet, like all candy actually.”
Lapis turns her attention to Peridot for the last time and smirks rapturously. “’Sweet’, huh?” she utters. “I think I can give me and Peridot a hint on what candy might taste like.”
Steven’s eyes widen in panic and gapes at Connie. “We should turn around…” he whispers. She figured out what was going to occur, hence she follows.
The blue gem grasps Peridot’s mien and moves a vast inch closer. As for the green gem, bafflement was already hitting her. But she let herself feel her roommate’s cordiality and notices her lips stirring closer into hers. Their caress made both of them feel fuzzy and heck, sweetness. And Lapis’ kiss was supposed to last only a second, but Peridot made it linger for 10 more. They let go, and beam softly as hooked on to their gaze. Until they realized they forgot they were in front of two kids who happened to be looking away discomfited. “Uh, sorry guys.” Lapis says also chastened. She proceeds to pick up what looked like green tinted rock candy.
Peridot went back into focusing on her licorice, only with her face flushed dark green and squirming. She bites her first confection and savors it as much as possible, and then pondering on its taste.
“……I prefer Lapis better” she says.
The blue gem chews on her first candy, too. “I prefer Peridot..”

Ravenloft Ironsworn, part 13, Dinner with the Baron
Dinner with the Baron
Okay, here we go with the next part of the Delve.
In the Delve rules, I’m categorizing Castle Ravenloft as an Ancient (Theme) Stronghold (Domain). Before I progress, I check the oracle for that theme and domain and see that I’m progressing toward a “Large Hall.” Cool, that tells me where to go, in general, based on what GM-me knows of the place.
Brigitte looks around the chapel. Two of the smaller side archways seem to lead into alcoves that (she guesses) either dead end or lead into stairwells – probably up the dark balcony overlooking the chapel itself.
The main double doors are what draw her attention.
“These should lead us back toward the central portion of the castle,” she says.
“You say that like it’s a good thing,” Ismark says, though he helps her pull the doors open.
Mark progress. Okay. Looking around at the other options non the table tells me that this is fairly middling result – nothing particularly good or bad. Fair enough. How do I see envision the next section?
In my case, the Delve the Depths move tells me sort of where I should end up, and from there I’m using some of the “Oracle” of the Ravenloft module to get me there.
The double doors open into a long hallway: dusty, long unused, and lined with statues whose eyes seem to follow us as we move past them.
The doors at the western end of the hall are bound in heavy bronze, but aren’t blocked or locked. We swing them open and move into the great entry hall of the castle.
Cobwebs hang from dust-covered columns that line this hall, illuminated by lit (?!?) torches fluttering in sconces. The dust and webs cast strange, moving shadows across the faces of stone gargoyles squatting atop the columns, all around the rim of the domed ceiling of the room. The cracked and faded ceiling frescoes are largely impossible to make out after what may be centuries of neglect. To the north, a broad staircase climbs into darkness.
Sad and majestic organ tones float from a lit hallway to the south.
Okay. Lots to process here. Double doors to the west probably lead to the entryway of the castle. Fine. The stairs seem broad enough to be meant for “public” traffic, so that’s probably going to take us to some kind of big receiving space or a grand hall or dining room or … something.
South is tricky, because on the one hand, it’s lit and more welcoming and generally seems ‘interesting’ because there’s music coming from that direction, but on the other hand there’s the thing where it seems like we were expected and that whole direction seems to scream “COME CHECK THIS OUT IT IS WHERE YOU ARE MEANT TO GO.”
By the same token, I do NOT want to hang around this room, because those gargoyles make me REALLY NERVOUS.
So. Yeah, I’m heading for the trap. Let’s follow the music. I’m not burning all my momentum just for a Weak hit, so I’ll take the miss and Reveal a Danger.
I can work with that.
Torchlight flutters against the walls of this vaulted hall. To the east, a dark and forbidding hallway runs into darkness. Beside that opening, a suit of armor, oiled and glistening, stands on display in a shallow alcove – the first thing we’ve seen not covered in dust. To the west, large double doors hang slightly open, a steady bright light escaping through the opening. Swells of organ music come from behind the doors, spilling a melody of power and defeat into the hall.
I’m definitely going to check out the slightly open doorway, and I want to be sneaky, which (like my last Delve the Depths) is based on Shadow, which so far as been a total disaster for me. But nevertheless… Okay, I’m taking this as a Weak hit, in which I am “delayed or lose advantage (-1 momentum).” I think falling for this lure means I’ve somewhat dropped into the channel Strahd has set for his visitors. Here’s what we see through the crack in the door.
This is a magnificent 40-foot-square room, brilliantly lit by three massive crystal chandeliers. Pillars of stone stand against dull white marble walls, supporting the ceiling. In the center of the room, a long, heavy table stands covered with a fine white satin cloth. The table is laden with delectable foods of every type: roasted beast basted in a savory sauce, roots and herbs of every taste, and sweet fruits and vegetables. Places are set for four (one at the head of the table) with fine delicate china and silver. At each place there is a crystal goblet filled with an amber liquid. At the center of the far west wall, between floor-to-ceiling length mirrors, stands a massive organ. Its pipes blare out a thunderous melody of greatness and despair. Seated before the keys, its back toward you, a caped figure pounds the keys in raptured ecstasy.
Slowly, the music winds down and the caped figure turns on the stool before the organ to face the door, seeming to look directly at us. I hear Ireena suck in a sharp breath.
Now, I’m a genre and rpg nerd, so there’s a great big Vampire Lore clue in this scene, but when I ran it with my daughter, she totally missed it because she didn’t KNOW it – so I’m introducing it as one of those “weird vampire things that may or may not be common knowledge,” and seeing if Brigitte catches it. I’m doing this as a Gather Information.
My kingdom for a Strong Hit.
Okay, weak hit, the information complicates the quest or introduces a new danger. +1 momentum.
The figure at the organ raises a graceful hand. “Please. Be welcome in my home. Come in. Dine.”
Ireena trembles at my side, but I barely notice – what has my attention is the fact that Strahd can be seen in the mirrors on either side of the organ. Everything the farwardens have ever been told about these fell creatures of the night say that should not be the case.
“It’s some kind of illusion,” I whisper. “A vampire casts no reflection.” I indicate the mirrors, through the cracked doors.
“Please,” alleged ‘Strahd’ says, “come out of the shadows and into the light. Let me see you.”
“Illusion it may be,” Ismark whispers back. “But it’s no mindless thing – it knows we are not yet in the room… or whatever controls it does.”
It’s not a comforting thought, but I feel Ireena calm herself somewhat, realizing she is not facing the monster of Barovia directly. I turn to her. “It is nothing, see? Only a trick. A puppet show.”
It is not Ireena who replies, but the figure of Strahd. “A puppet show? Oh, delightful!” And it laughs: long and loud and mocking, and then vanishes.
The moment the figure disappears, a fierce, bone-chilling wind roars through the halls, blowing out all torches and candles. We hear the screech of ancient hinges and the solid thud of heavy doors slamming shut, one after another, off into the distance; a portcullis clangs down in the middle distance and, ponderously the tired groan of the aged drawbridge pulling up.
Crystal sings in the darkness of the dining room as the great chandeliers rustle in the sudden wind. The fragrance of food wafts its way through the darkened hall.
“I think we may have offended our host,” Ismark mutters. “We should move.”
“One moment,” I say, shoving doors open, much to my companion’s surprise. Ismark manages one aggrieved “hssssst!” as I stride into the now dark room, following my nose and unslinging my pack.
We’re being taunted by the smell of food and right now my Supply is at 3, so…
Oh screw you, dice. What the hell, man.
Fine. The game wants me to burn momentum so bad, I will. Strong hit on Resupply says “on a strong hit, you bolster your resources. Take +2 supply.
Worth it.
I scoop the fruit and some of the least messy foods, working mostly by smell and touch, wrap them up in cloth napkins probably worth more than all the clothes I’m wearing, and jam them into my pack, then stride back to the door, where Ismark has got a torch going.
“Now, we can move on.”
“You’re crazy.”
“I’m angry,” I say, though my face and voice are calm, my eyes scanning the area. “This Strahd is picking the wrong sort of fight.”
I’m going to Delve the Depths again, and roll the Oracle to get an idea where I’m headed: a 97 means “Something Unusual or Unexpected.” Duly noted, Oracle. Thanks. Now then…
I’m Delving based on Observation and Intuition (what I can see, and what my gut tells me), so that means +wits – to heck with any more of this +Shadow nonsense.
That’s fine. I roll and get a 43 on the results table, marking Progress on my way to “Something Unusual or Unexpected.”
Brigitte takes in her options. Heading back to the main hall with the gargoyles looming seems like a bad plan, the only other option then is the dark, narrow hallway just across from the dining room of Vampiric Fuckery.
Theory: Vampires are melodramatic as a form of behavior-based informational security. While their ridiculous collection of odd mannerisms make it easy to tag them as vampires, it also makes it extremely difficult to tell which of those mannerisms stem from an esoteric weakness or limitation on their powers, and which are just them being fuckin extra. In this essay I will…
A chilly wind rushes down the circling stairway at the end of this short hall, seeming to kill the very heat of the torch Ismark carries. The stairs spiral both up into the castle and down into the depths.
I do NOT feel like going down into the depths right now, so it’s up one floor and an unadorned wooden door…
Dusty scrolls and tomes line the walls of this room and are scattered across the floor. In the center of all this clutter stands a huge accountant’s desk. A old man slouches atop a tall stool, scratching a seemingly endless scroll of paper with a dry quill pen. A rope hangs next to the old man from a hole in the ceiling.
And… that’s where I’m stopping for now. Next time, we’ll meet Lief Lipsiege, accountant. (Something unusual or unexpected.)

Tras descargar WAMP, vamos a ver cómo instalarlo.
Alternativas a WAMP

drop cornbread biscuits
This past Saturday, we hosted our second Friendsgiving, stuffing 17 people in an apartment that has no business holding 17 people, but it’s okay, there’s wine for that. Our first one was in 2016; you can read about it here. I took 2017 off because I was a teensy bit busy book touring for Smitten Kitchen Every Day** It was fun to be back.
When having friends over, I like to get everything done that I can in advance and I do this for completely selfish reasons: I want to enjoy my party, too, and I can’t if I’m scrambling around all day and am bone tired by the time food comes out. But last week was abnormally busy and I only got to grocery shopping on Thursday, only to discover that one week before Thanksgiving, it’s like tumbleweeds, the lull before the weekend stampede, all past-prime rosemary and other sadness. I almost cancelled but my husband miraculously found almost everything that evening, and instead I did a very beautiful, highly recommended thing: I nixed a few things on the planned menu and swapped more complicated ones for simpler recipes with shorter ingredient lists but high reward. Here’s the menu, a few details, and completely random tips:
—
* Herb and garlic baked camembert: This is in Smitten Kitchen Every Day and there will never be an SK party without it. In fact, it’s gotten so popular that my friends and family make it now too, so I outsourced it. My SIL brought three, we heated them here. It was so nice to have one less thing to do.
* Bacon-wrapped dates: No recipe, but there are a gazillion on the web. I don’t stuff them (I did it once and it was way too pesky, especially given that they’re good without stuffing) and no dip. We made a ton and they were gone quickly; my daughter called them “bacon candy.”
* Turkey: In 2016, I did a hybrid wet brine from a bunch of sources. It was delicious but not worth the logistical nightmare. And mopping. This year, I made The Judy Bird, a Thanksgiving application of Zuni Cafe’s famous roast chicken. There are many dry brine recipes out there but this was the simplest and why make something more complicated unless you know it’s necessary? Based on the turkey reviews, I don’t think it needs anything else. My changes are that I baste it with a melted 1/2 cup of butter, and then when I’m out of butter, the pan juices, and this year, I put quartered red and yellow onion wedges in the bottom of the pan (tossed with a little oil, salt, and pepper) and friends, they were glorious after getting caramelized and lightly charred in turkey-butter drippings for a few hours. Here’s a logistical tip I don’t think enough recipes make clear: You want to rest your turkey for 20 to 30 minutes before carving it, tented lightly with foil. It’s then going to take 15 minutes to carve (I had a friend holding a YouTube video tutorial in front of me because I’m very bad at it.) This gives you 30 to 45 minutes of empty oven time where you can reheat sides, which is more than most need. I have a single, not big, not great oven and it was all I needed. [I mean, needs being relative, just in case Nancy Meyers is out there and wants to lend me a set kitchen and the life that goes with it next time.]
* Gravy: I really ought to write up a recipe one day, huh, but I use a basic formula of 1/2 cup butter, 3/4 cup flour, 8 cups chicken or turkey stock, a splash of dry marsala or sherry to deglaze the pan, and a lot of salt and pepper. (You cook this the way you would a bechamel.) When your turkey is done, if you want to separate the drippings, you can replace any of that butter with fat and any of that broth with juices. Or you can skip it! The gravy will have a less nuanced turkey flavor, but it’s still pretty awesome, especially if you have homemade stock. (In a freak bit of luck, I discovered two quarts of this in the freezer from last winter and used them for the gravy, stuffing, and more.) I make the gravy right in the bottom of the roasting pan, stretched across two burners; this way I can scrape up all the good, flavorful bits. If you don’t use the dippings to make gravy, I highly recommend you use them to drizzle over the sliced turkey, to keep it as moist as possible when you serve it.
* Stuffing: I also owe you a recipe for this but although I have two stuffing recipes on this site that I adore, I made a simple challah stuffing instead — although I made it decidedly less simple by making my own challah. Each loaf will make enough bread cubes to easily fill a 9×13-inch dish. I made mine with just celery, onion, and herbs, but you could easily sauté some mushrooms, diced apples, pancetta or crumbled sausage in too. Oh, and definitely make enough to have leftovers; this is important.
* Cranberry sauce: I went old-school with this, with a very early recipe on this site. I wanted something on the sweet side because my friend Ang was bringing a more savory one with tomatillos. Both were delicious.
* Green bean casserole with crispy onions: Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it (homemade). I make the green beans extra firm (just 2 minutes, then into ice water), then the mushroom sauce. Cool them both fully before mixing them. This goes in the fridge overnight. I’ll fry the onions — always make more than you need — and keep those separate until we’re about to eat the warmed casserole.
* Slow-roasted sweet potatoes: Once I realized I’d have no time for the root vegetable gratin I’d originally planned, I added these and 10/10, would recommend because the ingredient list is basically nonexistent. I baked them for the 2 to 3 hours before the turkey goes in, because they need a lower temperature. Broil them to get a good color on the skin. Leave them out while the turkey roasts (they’ll stay decently warm for a couple hours) and rewarm them just before eating. We served these in 2-inch segments, skin and all, and I was texting the recipe to friends demanding it even before going to bed that night. It’s that good.
* Stuffed mushroom casserole: My friend Ang brought this too and it was delicious. (She thinks it needs more cheese, though. I had no complaints!)
I didn’t make any pie at all! (Although my friend Molly brought a mincemeat pie with a cheddar crust and it was wonderful.)
* Bourbon pumpkin cheesecake: I made this in a 9×13-inch pan to cut as bars instead. Same recipe. Same temperature. However, you’ll want 1.5 or even 2x the crust, and it bakes in about 30. Seriously. It’s awesome.
* Perfect Manhattans: Because why not. I made two carafes of them, just scale up the recipe until you run out of an ingredient or carafe space. Friends can pour or shake it over ice; leave cherries or orange peel strips on the side.
* Cranberry crumb bars with mulling spices: This is in The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook.
—
Finally, as always, I have a last minute recipe for people who do things at the last minute. It’s never my intention, but it’s consistently my reality. I made these biscuits the first time over the summer, a season where we eat outside and act like it’s no big deal (waah), for a 4th of July ribs fest along with slaw and corn and all of those summery things. So, they go really well with warm weather. But they’re also a great quickie dinner roll, or even a fun addition to a breakfast-for-dinner night (like we had last night) with scrambled eggs and bacon. They take 5 minutes to put together and 15 to bake and there’s nothing not to love about that. They’re craggy and crisp on the outside and plush within, perfect for splitting open with your fingers, buttering, drizzling with honey, and finishing with flaky salt or nestling into the side of your holiday plate.

Drop Cornbread Biscuits
Servings: 8 to 12
Time: 20 minutes
Source: Land O Lakes
Print
Shown here are 8 large biscuits; you can make 12 smaller ones, just use the short end of the baking time range.
1 3/4 cups (230 grams) all-purpose flour
2/3 cup (90 grams) cornmeal
1 to 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (use 1 for a more savory biscuit)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon fine sea or table salt
1/2 cup (115 grams) cold butter, in cubes
1 cup (235 ml) cold buttermilk (buttermilk substitutes)
Heat oven to 450°F. I covered my baking sheet with parchment paper but it shouldn’t be strictly necessary, and many shouldn’t go in this hot of an oven, so use your own discretion.
Stir flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt in the bottom of a large bowl with a fork or whisk. Add butter and toss to coat cubes in dry mixture. Use your finger or a pastry blender to break the butter into smaller and smaller bits, until the largest is pea-sized. Add buttermilk and stir once or twice, until a dough comes together.
My very scientific method of dividing the dough evenly is to press it gently into the bottom of your mixing bowl into roughly a circle. Cut into 8 or 12 wedges. Pull out one triangle of dough with a soup spoon for each biscuit, pressing it into a craggy, messy ball, then drop it onto your baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough.
Bake for 12 to 14 or 15 minutes; smaller ones should be done at 12, larger ones at 14 or 15. Remove from oven and serve warm. Biscuits are best on the first day. On the second, gently rewarming them will improve the texture.

Wool - wool will be the gold standard for both carpets and rugs. As the natural fiber it's Feng Shui friendly (no harmful fumes or off gassing and it's a renewable bio.) Thus far, Michael Phelps has not yet responded towards the allegations, Sage Haze CBD but for the sake of argument, let's suppose Michael Phelps does smoke weed. While some may not consider so that it is a big deal, if it's true it can most definitely turn to be a colossal deal for Michael Phelps. Why? Because since his DUI charge, Michael Phelps has cultivated a very wholesome image and is really a role model to youngsters all over the world. Thus, if the allegations of pot smoking and partying turn out to be true, not only will he disappoint most of his fans, but he'd also lose his lucrative role being a pitchman for several products. Small Team Culinary Scenic tour Sabato Recipe.
Business of excellent friendliness begins along with an excellent accommodation and also its services. A pig roast or standing beef roast or perhaps a dental crown roast from lamb which is one of the elaborate tips for Christmas time dinner that is really pair of shelfs of loin lamb chops tied together and also roasting, are alternative choices for what to provide for X-mas dinner. Lata Mangeshkar to make sure that after supper she can easily vocalize a sweet little bit of track with her resonant vocal as well as i may rest. Sunday dinner cooking food performs certainly not need to be practically as difficult as a number of us create this out to be. Many superb crock-pot dishes could really be actually prepped although you sleep. Held each Thanksgiving Time in a big ballroom at the area's Event Center, the dinner includes volunteers basting more than FIVE HUNDRED plump chickens, whipping huge vats from mashed white potatos, as well as digging right into a stack from yams that towers to the roof. Eventually, consistently bear in mind that the bride and groom prepared the hue for the practice session dinner. Returning for its own third attend Malaysia, the month long activity are going to be actually had at Puteri Harbour from May 20 onwards, along with pair of dinners provided daily in the beautiful Johor heavens. On the planet from outdating by means of the computer the supper as well as film becomes hours from on the web conversation as well as probably some shared internet cam time. Our company entered a dinner and also spent the final from our amount of money, other than a penny that Bobbie made use of to phone home. I wound up picking this range due to the fact that, for one reason or another, I presumed it was Tuesday (it was really Wednesday) and figured this would be actually a pleasant replacement for Taco Tuesday." And also, even though the day of the week mistook, this ended up a good option. A great improvement off hamburger, fish chili dishes generally double effectively as well as may be a group pleaser. At that point, as you are actually waiting for supper or during treat, the bride and groom may distribute the groomsmen presents and maid-matron of honours gifts and point out a few terms from gratefulness to their best men and maid-matron of honours. I will definitely conserve even more info here regular fats by eating lighter dinner meals - specifically if I have actually eaten a late lunch time. However, Slim, which spoke out against his fellow billionaire during the course of the United States political election project but had dinner along with him after the Nov Chopin and Beethoven for their wealth from music know-how, and perhaps in order to get all of them to play a little after supper surprise, Plato to discuss the definition from lifestyle with and also how you can enjoy in lifestyle. Our company possessed such enjoyable at our interaction dinner at Il Tiramisu as well as I hope you grabbed some engagement party tips from this short article. 7 Changes to make to your website right now! Publish last
So you’ve decided to take the plunge and redesign/revamp your website. If you are still deciding if a new website is a good idea, read this article to help you make up your mind. But what exactly needs to change, other than the obvious errors such as being unresponsive or a security risk? In this article we will point out a few things that should be considered when talking to your new web designer.
1. Security What platform was your website created on? What security is in place to protect you? What plug-ins are fighting the hackers off every day? Unless you have a very good web designer, (look no further than Dreamkatcha!) the chances are you don’t really know a lot about these very important features. If you want to learn more about online security, read here Has your website been updated on a regular basis, by this we mean weekly! Most plug-ins, themes and operating systems are updated as regularly as every week, anything not updated immediately is a huge security risk to your website. Make sure the latest security plug-ins such as Ithemes Security is not only in-place but updated as soon as a new version is released.
2. Add a CMS (Content Management System) In todays fast paced and ever changing online market, it is essential that you can edit or expand your website yourself. With the addition of a CMS such as WordPress or Joomla, you are largely free to work on your own site for no extra cost, saving you lots of money for those little edits here and there. With a platform such as WordPress you can instantly improve the overal security of your website. It may be the most commonly hacked type of website, but this is largely due to the sheer number of WordPress installations out there. As long as it is setup correctly and kept up to date, you will have access to a great number of free plug-ins. Utilising these products can enable you to have valuable security measures in place that would otherwise cost a small fortune.
3. Flexible contact solutions Does you website have a contact form? The chances are your answer is yes, but is it performing to the bast of it’s ability? Simply having a name, telephone, email and message field will be taking the essentials, but it could be doing a lot more. Talk to your designer about other possibilities such as expanding your form criteria to things like area placement, company details, client budget and even more specific project requirements. This can help you build a better picture of the project at hand, before you make that initial phone call or email.
4. Email catchment and call to action Two of the most common additions that we are asked for are opt-in email catchment forms and a call to action. These features have blown up over the last few years and everyone is using them. If you want to get someone’s email address for various reasons, such as newsletters or promtional work, then having a simple opt-in form is an easy way to facilitate this. A call to action on specific pages or in a focus area can give the viewer that extra nudge they need to make that all important first contact.
5. Speed up your website If a website is taking an overly long time to load on a mobile device or computer, the chances are the viewer will simpy skip to the next website on the search engine. Most websites that were created a few years ago will have outdated code. This may cause the website to run more slowly or even display completely wrong on some devices. If the site was created by an amateur then they may have used the wrong types of images that are not optimised for web use. There could also be plugins that are unnecessary, incompatible or to bulky for your website. The list is almost endless, so make sure your designer understands that a fast website is crucial in these days of mobile website viewing.
6. User interface isn’t everything Although surveys show that the number one thing viewers want from a website is good usability, don’t overlook aesthetics. Your website may be intuitive and easy to navigate, but a high bounce rate could point to a plain and lifeless design. Many web developers online will claim to also be a web designer. This is largely uncommon and the results will always be visible in the final website when posted online. The code may be of high quality and the site may operate perfectly to your needs, but if there isn’t the magic injection of creativity there, audiences will give it a miss. Think about when you are surfing the web – when you reach a page that has that WOW factor you instantly take an interested in the contact of the site. Make sure your site has good functionality, but don’t overlook the importance of creative web design.
7. Hosting and updates Make sure that your designer (or you) is keeping your website updated. This will keep your site protected from hackers and malware. It will also ensure that your website is compatible with any plug-ins or external Apps that you are running. Also ensure that your web designer is using a reputable hosting provider such as Siteground. This will always leave you in the most capable hands when it comes to site speed, security and many other optional features that are largely unavailable or expensive with other providers.
If you really care about the success of your business, then looking into these few areas of your website will help gain high returns for minimal outlay. If you are interested in having your website redesigned or revamped, contact Dreamkatcha via our website
