WW Wallpapers- a tutorial

I LOVE the WW Furnishing mod and I especially love its wallpapers, and I've been thinking about making a tutorial for a while, but now that I have officially been enabled (thank you @dru-plays-starbound) I sat down this morning to finally make one.

This is Marion. Marion is standing in a criminal's old hideout that has been mostly gutted and had its lighting replaced. This room alone should be a good size space to play around in.

But of course this still has its old wall, so step 1 is to remove it and start with a hollow shell. Unfortunately Marion could not stop the relentless passage of time and now night has fallen.

You know at this point I really regretted choosing a structure on a planet whose parallax is a bunch of vertical lines which is THE go-to wallpaper pattern. Nonetheless we shall sally forth.

Have some wallpaper rainbows.

These are the solid colors. There's a corresponding Solid I Wallpaper to that first borderless solid, but I left that one out because this one shows all the colors you can turn it to and solid 1 is just an unassuming gray square, and full disclosure I have so many interiors to update because the solid and bordered wallpapers together are jarring and I hate it. That first one is for the vanilla colors, and the other solids have the modded colors.

"solid wallpaper, borderless solid wallpaper, what does that mean" Well, the borderless wallpapers are exactly that. These are good for the back walls, and the bordered wallpapers are your side walls.

If you look close enough at those blocks of half rainbows, you can see that from top to bottom, these colors are all arranged in the order of your matter manipulator's paint tool Cycle to that color, get that wallpaper's color. Be prepared for an intimate relationship with the paint tool, especially as we go further into this.

Okay it's morning. Let's look at the wallpapers.

Here are those solid colors along with modded versions of the classic and striped wallpapers in vanilla Starbound. Don't be deceived by their default grayness--these will give you more vibrant versions of those wallpapers. I didn't cover this because we all probably know the vanilla wallpapers are ass, but to test this for yourself go put up some classic vanilla wallpaper and go to town with the paint tool. You'll see that the colors are depressingly faded.

Look at all those pretty colors. Modded starbound is the best. What you see is exactly what you get, but those other blocks are gonna have you painting a wall pink with green.

Also the teleporter is offscreen to the left and Marion has had to turn into a spike sphere to get past that wall. Let's get rid of these.

That's better. And here's just a few of those modded colors on the other solid blocks. Thankfully Solid II wallpaper has a lot of similar colors to the modded borderless solid.

Let's talk about those modded wallpapers a little bit.

See what I mean? That pink color takes the place of green in the paint tool's color order, but rest assured this is how Marion painted that borderless pillar. That will allow us to use some of those modded wallpapers, like this.

This is just one example, and those lace wallpapers are borderless. Some patterned wallpapers have borders, and that includes our modded versions of the vanilla wallpapers from earlier. But that specific solid in that specific color is the only reason this works. Marion, could you slap a bunch of solids around a patterned wallpaper and paint it all green please?

Thank you. Always know which solid wallpaper you're using. Unless you want this. I'm not gonna judge.

Now let's get into some proper wallpapering. Marion, tear that all down and put up a solid color. Any color, any wallpaper.

Okay, default solid 2 it is. Also I can't help but notice you've been eating on the job. That is an entire chocolate cake under your arm.

Also it's nighttime but we won't have gaping holes in this building for much longer. Let's keep going!

Wow, look at all that pink. This is nice, but what if you don't want a huge wall of pepto bismol?

You could always paint some stripes. But we didn't do our math here, so that last purple stripe is an extra block wide. Might want to choose a smaller stripe pattern. Like i said, be prepared for an intimate relationship with the paint tool. Including the eraser at the end.

In the meantime, let's see those bordered wallpapers and borderless wallpapers together in action. Marion, knock out the walls again. Yeah, knock out one of those iron block walls too.

Looking good, but this is still a little boring. Let's add some baseboard trim.

That's better. Also we're almost out of this kind of wallpaper so we just shaved off like 12 blocks.

But why stop at trim on the bottom when you could put trim...

...on TOP?

There's a ton of vanilla blocks I would recommend for trims, but we only packed a few. But what if you still don't like that solid red?

There's that smaller pattern I was talking about! But the dark tones of the wood and the dark tones of the red are kind of drowning each other out. Time for a paint job!

And now the teams have been auto-balanced.

Marion you stupid slut you got levitating dirt all over the construction site and now you're breaking the walls and making the wallpaper pattern look like that thing I hate. If you put a window up there I swear to god.

Just kidding! She just needed scaffolding so she could add an even fancier trim to the top! And since we only had these starry blocks on hand we might as well paint it green. Now that's a fancy room.

But that's not all! Here's some other uses for wallpaper!

You could die, you fool! “Better dead than whatever the fuck you want me to be,” Jane rasped. It screamed with a thousand voices. Her ears felt wet. Metallic salt seeped into her mouth. She was on the ground. Pieces of the beacon rained down around her. Rain poured into her mouth and nose, washing blood into her sinuses and making her choke until she retched. Faces blurred in and out of view, vaguely familiar ones and one she remembered for sure, stark white against the blood red sky. It looked wrong, though, and it took until ship engines howled overhead and unconsciousness had nearly taken her away to figure out why. Fear didn’t look right on the bogeyman.

Jane had been hospitalized for two weeks following the Skyllian Shitshow — less for the gunshot wound and more for ‘being a danger to herself and others’. The worst had been tomato bisque, viscous and orange and somehow tasting of nothing but black pepper and whatever pills they’d ground up and mixed in.

Its fingers looked like the spires still growing towards the stars, and its mouth was peeled back in a permanent grin. Jane’s lip curled up to match. She would show these things she had teeth, too. That hers weren’t an empty threat. That she had used them before and would use them again. Behind the shadowy figures presiding over her trial for crimes against the Old Machines, a yellow-striped geth uncloaked. Its big yellow eye stayed trained on her Firestorm like it was the biggest threat in the room. She’d just killed a man with a plastic fork. She didn’t need a gun to be dangerous.

She’d always been on the shorter end, and all the muscle she put on over the years still didn’t bulk out her scrawny frame much more, but she was so… larger than life, it was easy to forget how physically unimposing she looked out of armor and not armed to the teeth. And with teeth, too. Unfortunate things happen in battle, John. Ruthless. That’s what they’d called her after Torfan. If he believed nothing else, he knew that descriptor was true, especially after their final test in N-school. Especially after she’d gunned down a retreating man. Her eyes had looked so hollow afterwards; he’d expected anger, something hot and hissing, coiled up like a viper ready to strike, but there was no life in that deep green lake. That looked personal, Commander. It was. He couldn’t reconcile that person with the small, fragile thing lying so concerningly still under so many blankets – they’d had a hard time getting her body temperature stable, Dr. Chakwas said. They had to sedate her, too, and it had taken Nihlus to restrain her long enough to get the IV catheter in. What had that thing done to her?

This is sort of why I'm not that worried about AI coming for my job*. You know what background design and background painting need in order to succeed?

Can you train AI to paint the same room from several angles and keep all the details identical? It can't even paint one room without shitting up the details and perspective from plane to plane on a simple side table, or making the drapes disappear into the walls.

Can you train AI to layer correctly? To keep lighting effects separate from the base painting, and in a format comp can use? A consistent format between backgrounds? Can you teach it to keep areas of the background separate and painted-through for parallax? Possibly, but that would be mega time consuming and very transparently an attempt to make an animation-automation tool, which would cause such an uproar. And then you still have to grapple with point A.

AI can't think. You can't give it feedback. It can't revise existing work, because it doesn't understand what it's making enough to go back into it. It can't even understand the concept of consistency, much less actually be consistent.

I'm furious over the way AI is being used to replace illustrators of all stripes. I was an illustrator for years, and I feel the pain of it for my old colleagues. I'm still part of the movement to put limits on generative AI, period. But it'd take way better machinery than they have currently in order to steal my fucking job, so eat shit, AI-makers and companies tempted by the "promise" of AI.

*I do think some studios will still try and replace their artists with AI, like above, and the only ones who see it all the way through will be the ones who give zero shits about quality. It'll be really apparent in the finished product, or they'll have to hire artists for retakes who can make the changes intelligently at the very last stage of the pipeline, which will be more time-consuming, expensive, and annoying than just hiring them on originally. IF they can find anyone willing to fucking work on an AI production.

In 2022 I made a few bare-bones assets for one of my high school art teachers, who was looking to teach a course on game design. I hope she has a better intro for her students than my patchwork godot file, now...

Even if the coding was sub-par, there are a lot of elements I still like--the animation, world design, and even collision came together really well, and I even had footstep and rain audio! It was, at least, a fantastic learning experience.

Did I mention parallax? No? That made the whole thing worth it. I loved implementing the parallax effect.

Talking about it like that makes me want to pick up godot again...

Kisekae Insights #33: Enter the Sonika and Roseka World

At the time of starting this instalment, Chris-chan has been released from prison and his court case dismissed. Many expected something big to come out of a potential trial, but the numerous continuances and sealing of the case have made this outcome rather underwhelming. This wasn’t necessarily an unexpected outcome, however, as it was clear that Chris’ lawyer was hoping to use these continuances to get him off on a “autism deferred disposition” after having served more than the minimum sentence while looking to have him settled in a group home, a popular theory for where Chris is currently.

Even to this day, I still get occasional interactions on the post I made a couple of years ago about How the world failed Chris-chan due to the interest around it. Given what we learnt about Chris through the letters he sent while in jail, it’s time for me to take the kid gloves off and soldier on with my take on Chris-chan’s magnum opus, Sonichu.

Before this whole debacle happened, I was a bit concerned about what to do in the rare possibility that Chris would read this and then do a copepost on what dimension my version of Cwcville is located and therefore, where Soulbound takes place in like he thinks he can define anything in my stories, but I have no qualms about this now after having read some of the letters he wrote while in jail. If he did, however, I would clarify that it is in a spinoff of N-Space called P-Space (P for Parallax). Doctor Who never really had a defined dimensional designation for where its stories are set in, so I don’t see why I should implement one now.

To restate my disclaimer from 2021, I will be referring to Chris-chan with male pronouns as my take on Chris-chan is based on “Classic Chris” pre-2011. Also, given that everyone involved with Chris has been exposed many times over, I don’t think using their actual names would be that much of a problem.

Background/Enozaki in real life

Crestor Calandia (Chris-chan) appeared as a hero/villain/anti-hero/anti-villain in Soulbound, assisted by the main villain Metallic 5 (Mogoro Kuwabara’s evil twin) as his “Idea Guy”. His main involvement is in Series 1 and 4; he was put on a bus for Series 2 (barring a possible return cameo in a revision of the story) before returning in a minor role for Series 3.

The motivation for Metallic allying with Crestor isn’t covered until the tail end of Series 4; after being released into space some time after his creation, Metallic discovered Crestor, a boy who was disconnected from his world, yet was still connected to it in his own way. Having found the Master Diamond prior, Metallic befriended Crestor out of curiosity and used the Master Diamond to make his world come to life, with it being the source of all the Sonikas, Rosekas and other beings along with their powers.

Crestor’s world, my counterpart to Cwcville, is known as the city of Hayasaka (速坂) while his real home is the “neighbouring city” of Enozaki (江ノ崎), where he lives with his parents, Brian (Bob/Robert) and Beatrice (Barbara), along with his sweetheart Ivy Kaine (O’Neil). Obviously Enozaki is based on a combination of Ruckersville and Charlottesville in Virginia.

Metallic used the Master Diamond to split Crestor into four, creating his alternate selves, namely his twin sister Crestyn Calandia (Crystal), his openly gay/bi/pan persona Aidnalac Rotserc (Reldnahc) and his brown-striped imposter Ricarlo Calandia (Liquid/Ricardo).

In his youth, Crestor made a number of gal-pals, such as Sarah Fiorentino (Hammer/Bevel), Kelly Anderson (Andes) and Tiffany Williams (Bowen). On one of his Love Quest searches, he met Anna McLeod (McLerran) while pacing outside the store she was working in. Games World (GAMe PLACe) was where he met the person who was arguably his best gal-pal bordering on sweetheart, Megumi Sonozaki (園崎めぐみ, Megan Schroeder). Games World is run by Raymond Snyder (Michael) with its other regulars being Morty Smith (Daniel Mimms, and yes, it’s actually Morty), Jesse Musuoka (結岡ジェーシー, Lucas White) and Megumi’s little brother Nanjirō Sonozaki (園崎南次郎, John Schroeder).

The people of Hayasaka

The electric hedgehog Sonikas and Rosekas (Sonichus and Rosechus) are one of Crestor’s most notable creations, so it makes sense that they make up a majority of the general population in Hayasaka. Additionally, there is a minority of other anthropomorphic creatures who reside in the city as well.

The assistants to the mayor of Hayasaka, Crestor Calandia, are Pikasori Sonika (閃空速蝟光/ピカソリソニカ, Sonichu Prime) and Momobari Roseka (桃張ロゼか, Rosey Rosechu), a couple who also serve as the figurehead mascots of the Sonikas and Rosekas. A black evil counterpart to Sonika also exists, known as Blake (Black Sonichu). Originally he worked with Aidnalac until he abandoned him upon being defeated, resulting in him siding with Crestor and Sonika.

Baby Sonikas and Rosekas are known as Sonikos and Rosekos (Sonees and Roseys). Rosekas can become pregnant as human females do, but their gestation period is a third to that of humans (12-13 weeks) and they give birth to eggs which hatch after some period of time. Sonikos and Rosekos become Sonikas and Rosekas in a process similar to puberty; I see them more as Mobians (the creatures featured in the Sonic the Hedgehog series) than Pokemon, so Sonikas and Rosekas don’t evolve as Pokemon do. They can power-up into stronger forms which I will detail later.

Even though I just said that Sonikas and Rosekas aren't like Pokemon, they are sexually dimorphic species like Nidoran or Volbeat/Illumise. This is in order to maintain the accuracy to Classic Chris' interpretation of Sonichu and as such, I don't believe in the troll-influenced theory that Rosechu is transgender nor Chris' later explanation that there are rare female Sonichus and male Rosechus.

The elite fighting team is the Ranbu Elite (Chaotic Combo), made up of leader and jungle master Calvin (Wild, named after former YouTuber LeafyIsHere), aquamarine bitch Awami (Bubbles), Asian fighter Chubei (忠兵衛, Punchy/Asian Knuckles), slutty nun Tsumiki (Angelica) and omnipresent psychic Derrick (Magi-Chan, named after Brendaniel’s nickname for him in his Sonichu reading series).

Jake and Lisa (Jamsta and Lolisa) are the hosts and DJs of local TV and radio station HSBC (Hayasaka Broadcasting Corporation) and Jiruko (Zapina) is one of their news presenters.

Pachiko Inui (乾パチ子, Patti-Chan, named after Takumi Inui and the dog Hachiko) is a beagle-spitz who was formerly Patty/Pamelin, Crestor’s dog in real life before dying of old age and being resurrected by Crestor using the Master Diamond. As a result she is essentially a zombie or an equivalent to a Ghost-type Pokemon, which plays a role in a storyline when she inadvertently riles up the creatures of the Night Garden instead of subduing them.

Boromi (Bionic) is a travelling basketballer who is arguably the predecessor to Sonika. His girlfriend, Marumi Itachi (Megagi La Skunk) is a punky skunk who served as the sidekick to her creator, Megumi, before she left her to her own devices.

Appearing near the end of Series 1 are Ricarlo’s allies from Another Hayasaka, namely Mitchell Aspoka (Asperchu), Sodorill (Simonla/Simonchu), Cassidy Delton (Kacey) and Jacqueline Laruna (Jackie). Cassidy serves as Ricarlo’s sweetheart while Jacqueline serves as his gal-pal.

Making their debut in Series 3 are pop stars Rinko Puranka (普蘭花凛子, Jiggliami, named after her “inspiration” Ranka Lee), Layla Hitsujiko (羊子レイラ, Layla Flaaffy) and Reggie Hiyami (氷闇レジー, Reginald Sneasel) along with Calvin and Sodorill’s offspring, Sunako (Sandy). Rinko, Layla and Reggie only appear in a music video in Series 3 before they are shown as part of Crestor’s army in Series 4. Sunako is one of the products of a breeding project that is related to the backstories of three main protagonists in Soulbound. Unlike her original counterpart, a child whose first memories involve avenging her dead mother alongside her father, Sunako has elements of Lara Croft and Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII in her character, making her a stoic and agile warrior.

Silvia (Silvana) is the only known Roseka to be born outside of Hayasaka, as her egg ended up in the Desert World of another Parallax where it was found by a woman named Betti, who was stuck on that world. When Silvia hatched, Betti was transported into the Soulbound universe and was taken on as her daughter. As Silvia grew, she honed her psychic powers and was eventually able to learn how to shapeshift, an ability which she also passed to Betti so that she could evade her pursuers who had managed to follow her from their universe. Silvia and Betti would become the main villains of Series 4. Silvia’s character would contain influences from Yodonna of Kiramager while Betti would transform into Kamen Rider Sylphi, originally a one-time Rider created for a TTFC special.

Electric Hedgehog Jouchaku

This is where the tokusatsu influence comes in.

Just as Chris-chan and his alternate selves can transform into Sonichu forms using medallions, Crestor and his alternate selves can transform into Sonika forms using medallions as well.

Crestor's Sonika form is the blue Nokon Sonika (濃紺ソニカ, Chris-chan Sonichu) while Crestyn's Roseka form is the orange Akadai Roseka (赤橙ロゼカ, Crystalina Rosechu). As they are twins, their transformation movements are the same, being based on that of Space Sheriff Gavan.

Aidnalac's Sonika form is the green Yamidori Sonika (闇緑ソニカ, Reldnahc Ha-Taque) while Ricarlo's Sonika form is the brown Kuchiba Sonika (褐葉ソニカ, Liquid Sonichu/IBAChandler). Their transformation movements are based on that of Space Sheriffs Sharivan and Shaider.

Megumi can transform into a Sailor Moon-esque form known as Megumihime (Sailor Megtune). Originally she uses her guitar weapon to transform, though I think I might give her an actual Sailor Moon-esque transformation in the revised story.

Sonika and Roseka are the first of their kind to receive power-ups in the series; Sonika uses a sword and shield similar to the Houou Blade & Houou Shield from Kyuranger to transform into Armored Sonika (Metonic) while Roseka uses a small dragon fitted onto a bracelet similar to Tatsulot from Kiva to transform into Vambat Roseka (Vamprosa).

Crestor, Sonika and Roseka also gain their final forms near the end of Series 1; upon gathering all seven of the Ranbu Diamonds (Chaos Emeralds/Sonichu Balls), Crestor and Sonika gain transformation rings to transform into Ultimate Transcendent Supreme Nokon Sonika (Collosal Chris-chan) and Ultra Super Mega Sonika Overcharge (Ultra Sonichu). Their transformation is similar to that of Ultraman Orb Dark from Ultraman R/B, using the phrases, “Lend me the power of love and friendship!” (絆の力、おかりします!) and “Lend me the power of justice and revenge!” (復讐の力、おかりします!)

When Roseka’s anger snaps, she can power up into Incredible Bloody Lion Roseka Roar (The Incredible Lioness), allowing her to brutalise her enemies. However, if she is too angry to control her anger, the power will recoil and detransform her. At one point, I realised that I missed the opportunity to use Kivat-bat for Vambat Roseka and Tatsulot for Roseka Roar after using the former for some others, but then I thought about it and realised that it might be better to leave it the way it is. Roseka would later be able to control her anger and freely assume Roseka Roar without side effects.

Series 4 would introduce power-ups on a large scale, meaning that the rest of Crestor's comrades would have final form powers akin to Mega Pokemon. Their transformation equipment would be directly adapted from Super Sentai or Ultraman.

Crestyn, Aidnalac, Ricarlo and Megumi use the Giga Finalizer, King Sword, SoniSlasher (Orb Slasher) and Beliarok to transform into Giga Arch Finata Akadai Roseka, Photon Plasma Kaiser Kuchiba Sonika, Trinity Rise Hattacker Yamidori Sonika and Dark Megumihime. Their finisher attacks are the same as that of their original Ultraman counterparts (Geed Ultimate Final, Geed Royal Megamaster, Orb Trinity, Z Delta Rise Claw), but the King Sword's finishers are the Vulcan Gatling (Vulcan Sparkle), Royal Shield (Brothers Shield) and Photon Shoot (Royal End).

Kiramager and Ryusoulger would act as major influences on the transformation equipment for the rest of Crestor’s comrades. The Ranbu Combo’s Mega forms are a team power-up accessed through the Mega Ranbu Arrow, based on the Kiraful Go Arrow. The Mega Ranbu Arrow is shared among the Ranbu Combo, allowing them to perform attacks unique to its user, namely the Sharpshooter Tornado (Calvin), Rainstorm Impulse (Awami), Striker Bullet (Chubei), Meteor Sunshine (Tsumiki) and the Unstoppable Infinity (Derrick).

Blake gains the Shiny Silver Changer, based on the Shiny Kiramai Changer, to transform into Shiny Silver Blake (based on Silver Blake Sonichu). His finisher attack is the Ultimo Storm. Rinko Puranka uses the Black Hole Changer, based on the Yodon Changer from Kiramager, to transform into her Mega form; Silvia would analyse her form in a battle with Rinko before using the collected data to duplicate the Black Hole Changer, which she uses to transform into her own Mega form.

Reggie uses the Max SoniClaw, based on the Max Ryusoul Changer, to transform into Max Reggie Hiyami, while Layla uses the Noblesse SoniCalibur, based on the Ryusoul Calibur, to transform into Noblesse Layla Hitsujiko. Max Reggie Hiyami is based on Sneasel’s evolution into Weavile (just as Reginald did in Sonichu) and his finisher attack is the Everlasting Avalanche. Noblesse Layla Hitsujiko… is just Layla with a cape and robes, just like the Noblesse Ryusoulgers.

Boromi, Marumi, Jake, Lisa, Jiruko and Pachiko utilise the SoniChangers and SoniSouls, based on the Ryusoul Changer and RyuSouls. Each of their Mega forms grant them powers based on Sonichus that didn’t make it into Soulbound because as we all know, Chris-chan introduces and discards characters on whims based on his life at the time of writing.

Blazing Boromi is based on BlazeBob, a fire Sonichu created by PandaHalo.

Moonlight Marumi is based on Chloe, a purple Sonichu also created by PandaHalo.

DJ Knight Jake is based on Darkbind, Chris’ counterpart to Link. Jake gains a sword as a weapon in this form.

DJ Princess Lisa is based on Zelina, Chris’ Zelda expy. Lisa gains a bow and arrow as a weapon in this form.

Zapflash Jiruko is based on Sarah Hammer’s alternate persona as Saramah Rosechu. In Soulbound, Sarah Fiorentino was offered the chance to gain powers and become a Roseka, but she refused. She would have received Saramah’s powers had she accepted.

Fireshock Pachiko is based on Wes Iseli’s alternate persona as Wes-Li Sonichu.

As I said earlier, I mentioned that I used the Kivat-bat for some others; it and the Kivat Belt were adapted into the BatRiser, the means by which Mitch, Sodorill and Sunako transform into their Mega forms. Mitchell uses a yellow BatRiser based on Kivat-bat the 3rd, Sodorill uses a black BatRiser based on Kivat-bat the 2nd, and Sunako uses an orange BatRiser based on Kivat-bat the 4th.

Night Star, Crestor’s pony counterpart, makes her debut near the end of Series 3 as the chief scientific officer for UNIT Equestria, created by Yanagiri (the series’ main villain) as a spy for Crestor, feeding information to both Crestor and Twilight Sparkle as part of Yanagiri’s master plan. Following her death, Night Star is resurrected by Betti, who gains the ability to transform into Serazenta Roseka (Night Star Sonichu), her transformation movements resembling that of Space Sheriff Estevan from the Sharivan NEXT GENERATION movie. Her weapon and power-up device is the SoniLencer, based on the GUTS Sparklence from Ultraman Trigger. Using the Hyper SoniKeys, based on the GUTS Hyper Keys, Night Star can power-up into one of three Mega forms, namely Roseka Type, Pony Type and Cyber Type. Roseka Type is a direct adaptation of Mega Night Star, Pony Type transforms Night Star into an alicorn while Cyber Type enhances Serazenta with CPU Blue Heart’s armour.

Army of Miscreants

There are two main enemy factions in Hayasaka, namely the Jayops (Jerkops) led by Witch Mawashi, also known as Mariwashi Sotsuaki (卒暁毬鷲, Mary Lee Walsh/Count Graduon), and the trolls of SexyClover (4-cent_garbage.com) led by Clyde Cash.

Mawashi was created by splitting her from her template, Marina Pollock, who is the Director of Student Services at Enozaki Community College (Piedmont Virginia Community College). Unlike her original counterpart, who is a grey-haired old woman wearing a yellow crown with red horns, which due to Chris’ art style, led fans to believe that she was a blonde woman with a bob cut, Mawashi and Marina are both younger blondes. She wields a staff with a purple orb which she uses to transform ordinary people into Jayops (Jerkops/Janecops) or Jemerals (Manajerks). Mawashi would later absorb Marina into herself, allowing her to spite Crestor in death by allowing her template to be killed alongside her so as to get him in trouble in Enozaki.

Clyde’s comrades at SexyClover include Justin Blake Howell (Jason Kendrick Howell), his girlfriend Bethany (Kathleen), Jack Thorgeron (Jack Thaddeus), Vicky Lee (Vivian Gee) and Pickle Rick which is just human-sized Rick Sanchez in a pickle suit (Man in the Pickle Suit). A couple of Crestor’s former sweethearts are with SexyClover as well, namely Bianca Weizenshlaft (Blanca Weiss) and Julie/Max Masichi (Milvana/BlueSpike). In an allusion to the troll’s original persona, Julie/Max is a ladyboy – his actual persona is Max and he poses as Julie for Crestor.

Later on, following their death and resurrection, Mawashi and Clyde would revive their respective organisations (save for Bianca and Julie/Max) and fight as villains once again. They are given the Great Miracle Changers, based on the VS Changer from Lupinranger VS Patranger, along with the SirenStriker and VictoryStriker to transform into their super forms.

Sweethearts and Heartsweets

Although Crestor’s sweethearts and gal-pals were originally part of different factions in Series 1, their resurrection in Series 3 would see the factions combined to create Crestor’s harem. At the end of Series 4, they are freed from Crestor’s control by Dark Megumihime using the Deathcium Fang, with his control of Megumi weakening slowly over the course of the series and assisted with the power of the Beliarok. Despite this, they are recaptured anyway, but they are killed shortly after in battle.

As Chris was known to do with his characters, most of the Sonikas and Rosekas are paired up with each other as follows:

This has been an overview of the characters in Sonichu and Chris-chan lore adapted for Soulbound. I’ll go into more detail about my take on the Chris-chan lore when we cover the series itself.

Announcement

After some deliberation, I can't ignore how the current situation has been affecting my mental health. I've spent multiple days sick to my stomach with anxiety and paranoia over it, and it's making my panic disorder and C-PTSD symptoms nearly impossible to deal with. That's just not okay when I have myself and a five year old to look after.

So for now, I am going to be stepping back from fandom social media outside of my private discord server. I don't feel particularly comfortable sharing my work in public anymore after recent things have come to light, and I don't know when I'll feel comfortable again.

Over the last three years, I've poured thousands of hours into content creation of all stripes for this corner of fandom, and it hurts to be treated like this. It hurts to watch my friends being treated like this. There are no adequate words to communicate my disgust at the behavior of some people in this fandom, and for what?

To those who have been deliberately hurtful (and you know who you are):

You are hurting real people with real feelings. Over differences of opinion about fictional people kissing. Take a long, hard look in the mirror and think about what kind of person does that.

Hint: it's not a good one.

You can, however, always stop. I'm a firm believer in the capability of people to always do better. You can be better too.

I'm going to continue my work and share it with the friends I've made--people I trust--in private. I can't say when I'll be back. All I know is that I've gotta take care of myself first. I'm going to spend time with my partners, daughter, and puppy, I'm going to go camping and hiking as much as I can before the weather turns, and I'm going to try and cleanse myself of all of this garbage, meaningless drama.

To everyone out there who has supported me over the past few years, thank you so much, and I'm sorry that a few bad actors had to spoil a good thing. I hope that I'll feel safe and comfortable enough to come back soon. Maybe when I get a little bit into Parallax. I love this ship, I love these characters, and I'm not stopping anytime soon--just going underground for a little while.

Three figures charged into the audience chamber. Jane had definitely killed somebody. An asari in white and blue armor leapt down from one of the balconies, landing with the same biotic corona Jane used. The Vindicator she leveled at Jane’s head didn’t faze his sister one bit. Behind the councilors, a salarian in black armor with yellow stripes uncloaked, omnitool at the ready to deploy god-only-knew what. And the third…

“Nihlus!” Saren took the stairs two at a time. “There you are. Maintenance called, someone broke out of Huerta Memorial of all places — vague physical description, as usual, humans are so—” He paused and took in the assembly of humans as if he would reconsider what he was about to say, then his icy gaze landed on Anderson. “Useless,” he sneered. “C-Sec lost the suspect on the Presidium, Blackwatch lost the suspect in the Tower, and now we need to go on lockdown, because I have somehow lost the little shit in the vents.”

“Human female?” Nihlus simpered. “Shorter than average, hospital gown, grippy socks?”

“Y. Yes, actually. How—”

Nihlus stepped aside. So he wasn’t corralling her. Was he protecting her?

Saren peered around his colleague’s bulk. Jane was baring her teeth at the asari. “Ah,” he acknowledged. “She’s awake.” Turning to the other two — they must have been Spectres as well — he waved a dismissal. “Vasir, Bau — crisis averted, it’s not a terrorist. I know this one.”

The salarian vanished, and only a moving shimmer gave away his exit. The asari still hadn’t broken eye contact with Jane. She blew a bubble — had she been chewing gum? She’d been chewing gum, and she looked bored.

John glanced at Nihlus. The Spectre winked and flicked his mandible. “She’s not gonna fuck you, Tela,” Nihlus snorted.

The asari didn’t break eye contact with his sister. “Who says that’s the logistical order?”

Sparatus cleared his throat. “Agent Vasir.”

Tela straightened up immediately. “Later,” she murmured to Jane on her way past.

“Bite me,” Jane snapped back.

Saren examined his talons and picked a stray fleck of— on second thought, John didn’t want to postulate further on what that fleck might have been. “Impressive, Shepard. Sloppy, but impressive.”

John furrowed his brow at Saren’s comment and pointed at himself.

The Spectre scoffed, briefly flaring his mandibles. “Not you,” he sneered. “Jane.”

Udina apparently decided it was the perfect evidence in his and Hackett’s favor. “See, Councilors! Even the racist prefers Jane!”

“Approval from Agent Arterius can only mean that it’s doomed from the start!” Anderson interjected.

Saren raised a talon. “Agent Arterius did not approve of anything, Agent Arterius was merely impressed,” he corrected. “But it’s nice to see I was right twenty years ago and David’s listening comprehension still hasn’t improved.”

Anderson was a big boy, he could defend himself. John had his own war to wage. “You really think you can be a Spectre with that kind of reckless behavior?” he shouted.

Jane’s smug face did nothing but stoke the flames, and then she poured gasoline on the fire. “Oh, is the Boy Scout angry he doesn’t get to be special anymore?”

“No, I’m angry because you refuse to see reason, and you’re going to get yourself killed!”

Hackett drowned out Jane’s reply as he went after Anderson. “How can you possibly turn down a better candidate, one that managed to get the approval of the longest-serving Spectre in history—”

“Again, not approval, simply impressed the pyjak could evade me in ‘grippy socks’—”

“— because of your own personal biases and failures! You have the gall to call me unprofessional while you stand there, practically committing treason!”

Anderson stepped into Hackett’s space, dwarfing the Admiral. “Treason? So now it’s treason to care about humanity’s image!”

Tevos finally lost her composure — not much, but her little chortle carried over the scuffles. “Humanity’s image,” she snickered.

“And what is that supposed to mean, Councilor?” Udina puffed up his chest, and if John hadn’t been contemplating strangling his own sister, he might have thought it was a little funny. Nihlus had no such engagement and very much did. “You want to talk, why don’t we talk about the *asari* image, hm?”

“You’re out of line, Ambassador,” Valern snipped, stepping in for his colleague.

A single, sharp krakk echoed around the Council chambers, silencing the lot of them.

“If we’re quite done shredding the unfortunate vau who’s been tossed into our playpen…” Sparatus huffed, a rolling growl rumbling like thunder in his throat and a smoking gun still raised above his head.

It was easy to forget how big their teeth were, how hard turians tried to stunt their emotional expression just to hide them. How intense their stares could be. Nihlus had already disarmed him, made him complacent through the easy smiles the Spectre handed out like samples and lackadaisical demeanor masking the cruel cunning underneath.

He’d already made John forget what he’d done down in the Wards.

John swallowed and fought the urge to shrink back under the deep, dark ocean in the Councilor’s eyes. Even with a combat diving certification, he knew there was no running from the sea. “I have better things to do than babysit eight grown adults and a shatha shaped like a human.”

Jane’s lip curled. Not helping.

“Saren, you’re without a student at the moment, aren’t you?” The lack of answer from Agent Arterius proved John’s theory that it wasn’t actually a question. The Councilor’s mandibles flicked as he tucked his pistol back into his suit jacket. “Congratulations,” he simpered, gesturing to Jane. “It’s a girl.”

“You can’t just—” Udina shut his mouth when that abyss was turned to him.

Description: An aesthetic acting as the bridge between Modernism and Postmodernism. Characterized by deep-seated skepticism of corrupt government and corporations, glorification of investigative journalism or other actions that involve massive amounts of paperwork in the course of uncovering conspiracies, and particularly an ambivalent view of gritty, grimy city life and modernity (especially middle-class office life) with an undercurrent of paranoia. However, the most important emphasis is on its close relationship with hauntology. Whereas hauntology revolves around a retrofuturistic ideal, one that emphasizes exploring lost possibilities and imagining what could be, based on what could have been, i.e. on the predictions and almost-achieved ideals of the past, sepiapunk simply dwells on the beginning of the end, of the postwar welfare state era.
