911 really is such a good reminder of the particularly kind of joy that is weekly, seasons-long shows with many episodes per season. every character gets a moment to shine even in a truncated season. the satisfaction of seeing characters grapple with stuff that happened YEARS ago. having multi-episode arcs and one-off arcs that are equally enjoyable. beach episodes (metaphorical). I know we're all saying this all the time but why can't more tv be like this

Okay just realized smth that’s probably stupid and just a coincidence haha but I’ve been reading a bunch of buddie posts (aka feeding my delusions aka coping) but the entire 118 is paired off (except for Ravi ofc) as a couple who’ve kinda coparented or adopted kids at one point.
Buddie um yeah very obviously Buck coparents with Eddie for Christopher.
But then also Chimney and Maddie at one point coparented Jee after their split (which they got back together bc it’s Madney and yeah).
Then HenRen, where Denny is I guess technically Hen’s kid bc yk the situation with Ava. But Karen chooses to adopt and raise Denny with Hen cuz love!!!! And they become a family.
And then Bathena where Athena splits with Michael and then Bobby comes in and basically adopts Athena’s kids as his own and becomes a family.
Like. There’s a billion ways two ppl can be besties and just besties only. But coparenting? Like this? Being each other’s rocks, guiding the kid together and both being that kid’s rock, and the kid having EQUAL care and attention from both ppl? Dude.
And I’m not saying that coparenting can never be platonic or that it doesn’t work if the parents are split or that it will never last and the partners will have to get together eventually. I’m not saying that. But in the context of this show. Come on man.
(So sorry for the long ass rant which continues in the tags but I need to get this out 🥸)

Y’all I’m sorry to say this but we’ve gotten so bitter on here. I’m not saying we can’t continue to be a little petty, but I’m missing the cutesy, artsy side of BT nation. We need a renaissance

Hey! Any chance you have or could make a gifset of Bobby and Athena in the rubble in 6x18, especially when they're holding hands? I'm not sure if you do gif requests, but I've been looking for something from this episode and haven't found much and would be super grateful
I made several gifsets of that scene last year!
Hand holding compilation
"Just breathe" moment
Athena finding him

Parallel to rescuing Bobby in 4x14

i have to be honest (read: a little negative) for a second. i am a little worried about the direction of the show moving forward. not even storyline-wise, but quality-wise. i enjoyed s7 a lot but it was quite messy at times. and i don't think the final episode lived up to hype at all. i think they were being far too ambitious with such a short season. like i'm not sure we've ever been aware of them cutting so much content. not just everything with the wedding episode, but scenes towards the end of the season that actually help make sense of the plot, character and story-driven scenes that we will never ever see. it seems like such poor planning. they knew the season was shorter. they know each ep is only 40-something minutes. why are we trying to do so much?
the cut content bothers me. this need they have to try and outdo themselves with the big emergencies every season bothers me. the fact that both the s6 and 7 finales missed the mark bothers me. in both cases there were absolutely outside forces that affected the outcome -- fox + cancellation + the shorter/rushed/chaotic nature of this season. but it's more than that. the Big Thing the finale is meant to focus on is over so quickly. all of the emotions that we feel should be connected to the event are ignored or passed over so quickly. and all the copaganda... the pirates in the cruise and the cartel with the grant-nash housefire. these are all just bad. why is the cartel even here? why did we need that?
my only hope is that s8 takes a step back into how the show used to be. let storylines and characters breathe. dial it back on the big emergencies. be a little silly. be ridiculous, even, but shark-on-the-freeway ridiculous. not like this. we don't need or want you to go bigger, actually.

I’ve seen some worry over the next episode being focused only on Bobby and Athena and I wish I understood this worry? The set up for this plotline so far has been great so i’m not worried.
Tumblr media
Plus, the episodes of this show in this format were all bangers? “Fight or Flight” and “Boston” (one of the best of past season??) are here, so this format of episode focusing only in two/three main characters of the show isn’t new, neither unknown for the audience.
I do imagine this episode will have a similar tone to Athena Begins rather than how they handled Bathena in “Past is Prologue” (where they solving a crime was more of a comedic tone), and I’m excited for it, specially because it’s a good use of a piece of info we got seasons ago.
“but we all know it’s the contractor, we don’t need a whole ep for that”
Mind I say I always cared more about the character work in the plotlines given to them rather than if the plotlines are predictable or not. Being predictable isn’t a bad sign. Hearing this is like hearing that Eddie’s PTSD storyline is less or unnecessary because we all knew he would start to work on his traumas and eventually be back on working, or that dealing with Maddie’s PPD was unnecessary because we all knew where it would lead.
The strongest aspect of these storylines is the character work on them and I want to see more of it with this oncoming storyline for Athena, specially after how they handled her character poorly in the beginning of S5, what it’s more of a reason to want a good character work for her, rather than wishing she doesn’t get one in the first place.
“but those were different”
No, they aren’t.
Storylines like Eddie’s PTSD and Maddie’s PPD were important because they were handling important aspects of these characters, their traumas, and I don’t see why dealing with Tania Kingston’s murder, something that haunted Athena to the point it became a motive to her joining the force is not important.

There is such a ridiculous divide between canon!Bobby and fanon!Bobby. I think your precious anon has forgotten that just bc fanon might interpret a character a certain way doesn’t make it true. Like we’re all here to have fun, what a weird take to attack how someone does that in a way that isn’t harmful. PLUS Kinky bathena is not only canon, I could write an essay on canon behavior that isn’t explicitly kinky (like past is prologue is) that could support kinky bathena. You keep doing you with the cute art and ignore these haters.
Canon or fanon I wish we could all just co-exist together at opposite corners of the fandom playroom! We don't have to agree on everything and that's fine! (Normal even!)
Not only that but this kind of behavior just makes more of a divide and might cause people to be afraid of joining the fandom because it's not a safe space to create or enjoy characters the way they may like to!! Someone very well could share your views or love your ideas but if you turn it into a toxic environment it could dissuade them from even participating in the fandom at all!!
And it just bums me out that someone could really enjoy something but someone makes them feel unwelcome! Especially for enjoying something like two consenting adults?! LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING MEE?! Like out of all the things to be mad at in the world and you choose to be upset about something that's fictional... that you can avoid if you wanted to...? Okay I guess!!
