Seriously go check them out! I was really happy with how my cosplay turned out. (Even if I did have to create the top a second time around) it’s so pretty!! 💕💕 I don’t normally do this, but it was a huge inspiration to start this cosplay specifically thanks to carolinekrunchy - her stuff is super duper amazingly awesome. I really love this particular outfit of Holo's (she has a lot of them!) but the colors work well together so I've deemed it her autumn outfit. I think it's her noble outfit, but no official title that I'm aware of? I'm not actually sure...anyways. I was pleasantly surprised with the new location for Anime Detour. I have been attending Detour since...I keep forgetting, haha, 2005 or 2006 I believe? So it’s been a home con for me for so long and I loved the layout of the DoubleTree through familiarity and habit (not a bad thing, just was) so I was nervous for it to move locations. I wasn’t a fan of the layout for Meta Con, which is held at the same location, so that was the only comparison I had to go on. I love the attendees of Detour and the culture has grown so much. It’s the con I go to to see friends I haven’t been able to see all year, it’s the comfortable con just to walk around and chill at and not have to worry about my artist alley booth or spend all day preparing for a cosplay competition. Can I say I’ve had some negative experiences over the years? Of course. Can I say I have had some really cool memories there, of course! I actually wasn’t going to attend this year, just wanting to explore more cons over all, but had a unique opportunity to attend with my brother and @cuddlefish.red to a Minnesota convention which they had not attended. I was able to meet up with many old friends and many new friends, still feel like there is never enough time in a single weekend, but no regrets. I had an amazing time cosplaying Fai, Todoroki, and Victor, unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity to cosplay Asuna like I originally wanted to - next time! I was talking to a friend, and Detour felt like a completely different con to me, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I enjoyed my time there and sad that the weekends has to end, but it’s just a new and different experience on this nerdy journey! Cosplay Tip from your “very tired of moving and just want a moment to breath” cosplayer: reference other cosplayers not for comparison, but for inspiration! . Still definitely make a cosplay that is your own and uniquely to you, but if you’re finding a part of your cosplay challenging to process just from 2D images alone - seek out others who have done a similar character or style to the one you’re going for; often times they have work in progress (wip) photos, tutorial blogs, or even video! Great resources to check out. Not opposed to asking questions either, but make sure to use your resources first and be specific when asking about a specific part/piece or styling method. . Side note: yay, done moving! BUT just found out that my dad is moving too! So back at it again. That three hour break was fun!
