summary:

The only thing Atem hates more than his family’s annual summer vacation is the “family” part. A whole three months away from home, away from friends, and away from freedom. This year, he’s nearly resigned himself to the worst trip he’s ever been on, surrounded by people he couldn’t care less about.

Then he meets Yugi, and decides to make his own fun.

HEY, I’M FINALLY BACK! Before we get into enjoying my latest insane rampage, a few important notes:

1) the Child Abuse tag is not a joke. It is not a background detail. This story includes both emotional and physical abuse, and I am serious.

2) the Homophobia tag is not a joke. It is not background detail. There is explicit homophobia in this story, and I am serious. A majority of it is tied into the abuse above.

3) the Arabic translations in this fic are linked in a Google Doc in the end notes and on the tumblr announcement post (also in the end notes). Let me know if you’re having any trouble getting access, and I’ll set it straight for you!

4) this is first fic I’ve ever written that has a schedule (see end notes)! Please be patient while I figure out this whole “having deadlines” thing. In the case of serious delays, “buffer” fics will be provided in lieu of a new chapter.

"Yugi, are you sure about this-" Atem played with the rim of the swim-shorts he was wearing.

Yugi looked at him "Yup-!! Trust me, you'll be fine, Even Jounichi's coming-!!!" he smiled brightly.

"Besides, didnt you grow up near a river???" He asked, and tilted his head, questioningly.

"Well, yes, but that was different, half of the time I wasn't even allowed in due to me being the only heir, and if I drowned, everyone would be devastated." Atem replied, sighing and closing his eyes. He then sat down next to Yuugi on the bed.

"Awww, well that must have been no fun-" Yuugi turned to face him.

Normally, Yuugi would have looked at everything but the guy's face, once in a life-time oppurtunities to see his chest, he knew Atem worked out.

w a i t -

'AHHH- WHAT WAS I THINKING-' Yuugi thought to himself, Atem always made him question his own sexuality, it was so annoying.

"Yuugi-!! Yuugi-!! Can you hear me??" two fingers snapped at his face, far to close to not be considered dangerous. Yuugi snapped back into reality.

"Sorry-"

"Its alright, but you should get your face looked at, its red."

"Wait- WHAT?!?!" Yuugi instantly covered his face, full of embarrassment.

Atem let out a chuckle, then a sigh. "You know, you're the only reason I'm allowing this pool visit. If you weren't coming, I would have instantly said no." He admitted, shamefully.

Yuugi smiled a bit "Aww, thats cute-" he then checked his watch "Good Ra, Atem, we gotta go-" he stood up, grabbed the other male's hand, and dragged him away.

After they got there, Yuugi went straight in, but Atem decided to st at the pools edge, right infront of the water.

He would stop asking questions.

"Is this natural?"

"No."

"Is It safe?"

"Yes-"

"Are There Sharks?"

"Bub, Just get in-"

"Bub-??"

Yuugi froze, he was so busy thinking about something that he forgot to keep the nicknames in his head. "Uh- I-"

Atem had seen to forget, though.

"Is it cold??"

Yuugi smiled to himself "Yeah, But you'll get used to it."

"Yeah but how long will- AHHH-!!"

Yuugi had pulled Atem into the water with him unexpectedly. Well, for Atem at least.

But what Yuugi forgot was that Atem for right in front of him, when he was sitting.

Yuugi was suddenly muffled.

Not only because he was pulled underwater but, because there was something on his lips.

Another pair of lips..

Yuugi's eyes shot open, regardless of him being under-water. Atem was in front of him.

'OH NO-'

They both separated drastically, and pushed up to the surface of the water. Yuugi hid his face in the palms of his hands.

"IM SO SORRY- I SHOULDNT HAVE-"

"Aibou."

Yuugi felt a warm touch on his wrist, tugging. He then took away a hand from his face to look at the other male.

Atem had a soft expression on his face, but was looking Yuugi dead in the eye.

"Its okay, Neither of us are hurt, right?"

Yuugi slowly nodded.

Atem softly smiled. "Then we're fine."

They both carried on the rest of the evening at the pool, not speaking a word about what had happened. [Jounichi, who was trying to woo the life gaurd, hadn't seem to notice.]

But one thought remained in Yuugi's mind.

'It wasnt too bad... Actually, I kind of liked it..'
