B and C: an ode of sorts.

A sister.

Mine, more specifically.

The Sun to my Moon, even when I always preferred stars.

"We are the same in opposite directions" That's our definition

That's the one I always use, at least.

I don't think I can define myself without mentioning her. I am not who I am without her name bleeding from my lips.

A sister.

My sister. My twin.

A mirror and a lifetime of invented terms with meaning,

of pretend play. Just the two of us: we didn't need more.

"I have a twin," I tell my classmates and it feels so unnatural for them not to know that.

Can't you see we are two faces of the same coin?

Can't you see our soul is splitted in two, one half for each of us?

It's like I'm trying to explain myself- to define myself through her existence.

"I have a twin sister" I comment as someone might say "I have blue eyes" but also maybe as someone could utter "I've won the lottery."

A sister.

A twin sister who answers when she's called by my name as I do when I'm called by hers. Teachers, relatives and even our parents mistake us. We are fraternal, it doesn't seem to matter.

Her eyes are brown, not like melted chocolate or honey but as the bark of a tree in movies: rich and natural. Mine are a kaleidoscope of colors she was always jealous of.

"If we were identical, would I be your clone or you'd be mine?" Questions made not at three in the morning but in the afternoon, laying on our stomachs on the living room rug, toys scattered between us.

"You could do my math test every time."

I'd do them now as well, no matter how little we look alike.

She loves bananas and I can't stand them, but she can't come close to a fantasy book, my personal choice. We both make team against our parents when voting for the movie to watch on Saturday nights.

2 against 2. 2 against whatever number confronts us, because how could you face half of your soul and not take her side?

A sister.

A P2 when I was P1 (she sucks at Mario Kart and I always win). She always chooses the right hand and I the left when we need to pick one, a habit we do as naturally as when we speak at the same time.

Pink was for her and blue was for me, except for when I changed to orange and she changed to green.

We were weird kids, outcasts you can say, not really knowing how to fit in or when to make introductions. We had each other, wasn't that enough?

A sister.

My sister. My twin. Or, what is the same:

Belcar.

A word that only exists in our dictionary.
