Mademoiselle Jeanne from Gaston, a Belgian comic I really enjoy!
Franco-Belgian comics usually has such unique styles that are somewhat tricky to do justice!

oh, to be two best friends male leads who trust and care about each other deeply in a Belgian comic, with little interactions with women, except for a plot where the other gets jealous that one doesn't spend time with him anymore, for one to ultimately decide to prefer the other over the girl

Rubine is a tough and sexy female cop based in Chicago who features in the Belgian French bande dessine of the same name. The title was conceived by Walter Walthery, the author (with Gos) of the more famous Natacha, the adventurous air stewardess. Stylistically, the comics are very similar - Rubine even looks a little like a red headed tousle-haired Natacha - but the stories have a very different feel. Natacha, with its roots in the late 1960s, never lost its camp “espionage” aspect, whereas Rubine walks the mean streets of modern Chicago, gun and handcuffs at the ready, to take down murderers, drug dealers and cartels. The series was first published in 1993 and there have been no further new Rubine stories since 2011, although compendiums of her adventures known as Integrales, continue to be published.
The above arrest scene is typical of the series and appears in the story Lake Wakanala by Walthery and de Sano, reprinted in Rubine Integrale #4 (2009).

"What if we call it Akina?"
My parents bought a robotic vacuum cleaner. They're getting on in age, so it's a good addition to the household. It and I met last week, so I asked what its name was. Turned out they'd just named it after our family name. Boring. "It needs a name," I said.
Today my dad says unprompted, "I think we need to give it a different name. Our last name is a bit stupid." My mum says it's fine, but I agree. I'm drawing a blank, though, until my dad suggests the perfect name.
"What if we call it Akina?"
I like to think he's been pondering on this for two weeks.
In the early 2000s, my parents bought a GPS system for the car. I dubbed her 'Akina'. She was named for an AI system in a space ship in the Yoko Tsuno comic album series that I'm still obsessed with twenty years later.
It stuck. When my parents were going anywhere new, we'd say, "Don't forget Akina." "Akina will guide you." "Where is Akina?" I was sad when new cars with built-in GPS systems replaced the old ones. I always kind of felt like she was my baby.
I've missed Akina. I'm glad she's back.

Tintin en Amérique, page 29.
Context : Tintin, while tracking down a gangster, is captured by native americans, who were convinced by said gangster that he is their enemy. Tintin manages to escape and accidentally finds oil in the natives’ secret cave. This is what happens next.
Hergé has often been accused of being conservative leaning and not without good reason. If this is his caricature of America, I suspect it’s less because of his personal political conviction and more because it was obvious to everyone at the time what the USA is and what they tend to do.
