A lot of people headcanon Latino Percy with differing levels of proficiency in Spanish and I'm all for it, but I can't help but imagine a very specific situation when it comes to mutual pining percico because hey, romance languages are basically the same, right?

Percy: Oh, Nico doesn't see me that way. He calls me "beloved cousin" all the time.

EXCELLENT weather today! Warm and breezy and full of sun :)

having had a rather wobbly sleep schedule this week, I was not thrilled about getting up at 6:30am today, so I prayed for strength to get me through transit and the rest of the day. And i made it through the day!

earlier this week, my Ancient Greek professor prefaced the lecture by telling us that she’d watched Paddington over the weekend to unwind and Highly Recommended It because it made her happy (and that’s called Taste)

my Greek mythology prof prefacing HIS lecture with—”We’re going to talk about geography a little bit today, and by a little bit I mean all day” sdlf;j sl;kfdjs (and then he DID) (I didn’t understand most of it but it was GREAT)

ate lunch on a bench (missed doing that)

Mama sat me down and very gently told me that she would support whatever decision I made (Re: work stuff) and that first and foremost I should pray about it and then go from there, and also that

finished listening to The Scarlet Pimpernel on the bus today and had SUCH a good time. The Drama! the Romance! the Adventure! I love Marguerite and I love Percy.

the kind janitor lady who unlocked an empty classroom for me so that I didn’t have to attend online class in the hall :’)

I was thinking about how much walking I’ve had to do this week, but the bright side of that is: good exercise, good for health, good for circulation!

going to the thrift store and finding a TON of nearly-new board books and picture books for the Sunday School shelves!! I was just starting to think about how I’d go about buying books to replace the really old and beaten-up denizens of our Sunday School shelves, and it was such a blessing to find All the Good Stuff in one go (you know, the classics: Curious George, Nutbrown Hare, Peter Rabbit, Dr. Seuss, Amelia Bedelia, etc. etc.)

also finding a copy of Ginger Pye for Muffin (which she’s been wanting to read, and which was also in very good condition!), a copy of Ballet Shoes ($6CAD..... and it was hardcover and illustrated. A Good Deal!!), and one of my required reading books (which was half the price it is at the store) and also a copy of The Last Unicorn in nearly-new quality........ I don’t know who left their collection of good books at the thrift store, but God bless ‘em

Mad scenes

... were a popular convention of early 19th Century French and Italian opera, frequently afflicting the soprano heroine. They are famously difficult to sing and were often written as a way for a particularly talented singer to show off her technical prowess in a dramatically plausible way.

- Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor. She stabs her forced bridegroom Arthur to death, then shows up babbling (re: singing) madly about her beloved Edgard in the middle of the wedding party - blood splattered dress and all, few before she passes away as well. (In the original novel, Walter Scott's "Bride of Lamermoor" which was Very Loosely Based on a True Story, Lucia's madness is surprisingly un-aestheticised, so doesn't count).

- Linda in Linda di Chamounix has the unusual good fortune of getting over it and having a happily-ever-after.

- Margeurite in Gounod's Faust goes mad after falling pregnant and committing infanticide, and sings, of course, about flowers.

- Elvira, the heroine of Bellini's I Puritani, goes mad after her beloved Arturo apparently jilts her (he was actually on an important spy mission). She spends all of act II and most of act III in a very extended mad scene before being reunited with Arturo and getting a happy ending.

- Anna Bolena in Donizetti's opera of the same name fades in and out of madness at the place of execution. She imagines she is back at her wedding day to the King, and is terrified lest her true lover, Percy, should discover her treachery. She comes out of it at the end to go to her death with dignity and with dubious words of forgiveness for Enrico and Giovanna on her lips. Imogene in Vincenzo Bellini's Il Pirata loses it completely as her former lover turned Pirate is led to his execution. She ends the scene with a plea to the sun to veil its light, so she will not have to witness the hanging of her true love.

- Ambroise Thomas has an actual Ophelia in his operatic version of Hamlet complete with a mad scene complete with flowers and visions of mermaids.

L'histoire c'est que après avoir finis divergente je cherché d'autre livre à lire sur booknod je me rappelle, en tout cat je lis le résumé il me plaît et je vois que c'est une Veronica et dans ma tête c'était Veronica Roth la meuf qui a écrit Divergente alors je me dépêche de le télécharger en ebook, pour que vous sachiez, dans ma région de la planète je peux pas acheté de livre sur le net je dois les télécharger donc sa arrive que genre le titre du dossier soit zarbi mais rien de grave je lis mon livre bien et tout le long je vois que c'est pas le même style d'écriture que Veronica Roth et que dans le nom du dossier c'était Veronica Rossi (et je croyais que c'était une faute) il c'est avéré à la fin que non en faite je lisait vien un livre de Veronica Rossi et non pas Roth

I understand everything youre saying and feeling, even the anger when i see people moved on. The dash should still be full of him, paragraphs and fanart and poems, yet it's just gone back to normal. And yeah i do understand that some people need *that* but i still... i dunno it feels wrong. His videos are bittersweet, and it hurts to hear his laugh because he will never get the chance to laugh again. And i sometimes feel like im the only one struggling this much with it, seeing so many people stopped even mentioning him and everyone is back to their normal posting. My cousin is 23, and i cant even imagine if she died because she is so young, and i cant even imagine what his family is going through, it must be the most unbearable thing ever. Im also still crying everyday, and not just a few tears but full on sobbing, usually more than once. I hate to hear people laugh at stupid things because how can you laugh when the world isnt as bright anymore? How can you keep being happy while the one who kept me happy is gone? It hurts a lot and it really feels like people already moved on. I hate the way life works.

Before I get into I just wanna say that anyone reading this should in no way feel guilty for posting as you normally would. You do what is best for you <3. The anger described is not a critique on individuals, but instead is an unhappiness that life continues on even after great loss.

yeah the anger part of it has been rough because you Know you shouldn’t be mad at other people but then you can’t help it. But then its not that you’re mad at individual people, its that you’re angry that the world keeps moving.

i think one of the hardest things to deal with when you lose someone is people going about as usual. I’ve been mostly offline since the news but seeing people post about things that aren’t him makes me feel sick. And not in a “you should be posting about him and you’re messed up for not doing so” but more of a “oh… this is the new normal isn’t it?”. I think that’s where a lot of that anger comes from (at least for me). The more normal things that you see people do, the more and more it really sinks in that this is the reality that we will be dealing with from now on. Logically you know people haven’t moved on and, even if they’re posting normally, grieving is still happening behind the scenes. And then you feel bad for feeling angry because people cope in whatever way is best for them and should not feel obligated to continue posting about him. But then the normalcy is a brutal reminder of what we’ve lost and how this is the new normal.

And for me that anger also comes from that loneliness that you described, feeling like you’re the only one still struggling. When you grieve someone you love, you usually have a chance at the funeral or spending time with family before hand where you can be around those who loved them as well. Humans aren’t meant to deal with grief alone and this whole thing, I’ve found, has been extremely isolating. We don’t get to attend a funeral or spend time with those who loved him in person. Sure, we know that there are others grieving but our brains don’t process it properly because its not face to face. Most of us are alone in our rooms dealing with this, which is why it’s hit me especially hard.

I’m sorry it’s also hitting you really hard, Percy. I hope you’re able to find brief moments of peace where you can enjoy things without guilt and give your brain a break from the intense emotions. <3333
