Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ci credete? Non ci credete? Poco importa. Read the full article

Mulheres Fantásticas - Maria Sibylla Merian (english subtitles) from Bee Grandinetti on Vimeo.
*Press CC button for subtitles ;)*
I had the immense honor of telling the story of this insanely talented and bold German botanical illustrator from the 1600's called Maria Sibylla Merian. I really wanted to hero her gorgeous, intricate work, so I kept my characters and other design assets to a minimal. All the gorgeous flowers, plants, insects and shells are hers.
It was a joy to work on this project entirely made by women for Brazil's biggest TV channel, Globo.
Since 1973, this TV show called Fantástico gathers families around on Sunday evenings to discuss the latest news and discoveries around the globe.
They recently started this series called Mulheres Fantásticas (Fantastic Women) that features inspiring stories of women from around the world. The animated intro is used as a hook to then introduce contemporary Brazilian women who defied circumstances and stereotypes and are doing groundbreaking work.
You can watch the whole section here: globoplay.globo.com/v/8149612/
Love and gratitude to my Brazilian partner in crime Bianca Beneduci that helped me animate some shots.

Wing Chun Archives - My Take on Internal Energy Celebrating 50 years! By Wing Chun Sifu Paul Fernandez I dedicate this journey, in particular, to my daughter Gemma-Marie and her, now, one-year-old daughter, Ellie, and Ellie’s Baba, George; both of whom I so hopefully desire to meet one day. I also dedicate this journey to all my family, in Australia and Italy who I love with all my heart and of course to my wife Mari. To my brother who I consider my first teacher and has continued to be on many occasions in my life. I've also dedicated and mentioned many well known videos Sifus in this video, you might be on the list so watch out! I also dedicate this to my, ‘unknown’ family whom I've never spoken about until now. Most of you know me as a Wing Chun Master, but I also belong to the Relapsing Polychondritis Community and the Rare Diseases Community, where I have been a member  for number of years as well as a mentor whenever possible. This group has been a fantastic support group to me. RP is a condition which I was diagnosed with in the mid ‘90s and likely living with the condition for many years undiagnosed, due to it being such a rare and unknown disease. A big hug to my RP family like Lisa Mathews who has done so much for me and also Susie Ratledge - they are unknown heroes who help people voluntarily day and night. They helped me to look beyond myself and to help people worse than me. Also to Monica Beneduci Olmsted who put me as moderator in the Italian group for RP. We all work and help each other to raise awareness for a disease that has a low statistic worldwide that hits between roughly 3 people per one million per year. There are still many doctors that dont know about this disorder, or know about it on a superficial level, and I can attest to this personally, who don't take enough time to push for the right types of tests or look deeply enough at the patients history of symptoms before drawing conclusions. Therefore the levels of treatments for people who DO genuinely suffer can at many times and on many occasions be ridiculed socially, or in their personal lives. The lack of awareness and impact on those suffering is deep, we need not just a call for action by the medical practitioners in general but for a more expanded awareness GLOBALLY. The RP groups on facebook and websites fight to change all that in many ways, in fact there is also a special association for rare diseases in Europe led by a team of volunteers that work together to improve the lives of 30 million people diagnosed with rare diseases only in Europe. Connecting Doctors, data and patient services to name a few. here are our support groups for those interested in knowing what we do https://www.facebook.com/groups/RelapsingPolychondritisAwareness/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/dramafreerelapsingpolychondritisscienceandsupport https://reconnet.ern-net.eu/
