"But Bonnie can't be with them because they're evil/morally dubious, she's too good and moral-" and the other characters, especially Elena and Caroline can? They aren't "too good" and "moral"? Why is Bonnie the only one held to these standards even when we see Elena call out characters like Damon and Elijah for their actions, so we can obviously tell that she has a different moral standing than they do? Even if Bonnie is those things, that still doesn't necessarily mean that she can't be with these said characters, whether for a short period or forever. Like, Enzo definitely does questionable things that would go against this idea, but these same fans don't question their relationship (some not all, same with Nora). It's only when we talk about characters like the Salvatores or the Mikaelsons or Kai (Enzo as well, back to my previous point), characters who have had flirtations or relationships with Elena and Caroline does this suddenly becomes an issue. And then the excuse of "Bonnie is too strong" to fall for them, as if that's supposed to be a compliment. Black women and girls, whether fictional or not, should not have to be seen as being "too strong" to be deemed worthy of love. That's such a gross thing to say, especially when our yte counterparts aren't held to the same standard, are allowed to be strong, and still fall in love. If you genuinely think that's a compliment, I urge you to do some work and figure out why that is.

In short: I don't like him that much. None of that is MM's fault lol.

Long Answer: To me the writers never knew what to do with Enzo really which is why he has that long phase of disliking Stefan, Lily problems, Caroline/KC.20 and then being placed with Bonnie. He's different characters all wrapped up into one. Sometimes he's Damon other times he's Klaus. When Damon and Klaus are already very similar to their cores.

Ian vouched for Michael M. which is why he stayed longer than season 5. BE is more about what Enzo needs than Bonnie. They were together for years, yet Damon is so centered in their relationship because he screwed them both over. I probably would have supported them if the relationship if it was done because the writers cared for Bonnie romantically but that isn't how it is presented. Bonnie's "epic" romance is told all in one episode and then the rest is half of a season with the remaining episodes of her fawning over a ghost. Never mind the stockholm syndrome that forced them together anyway. Even in fan edits Enzo is given more reasons to like Bonnie than she is of him. They were never granted a "sex scene" but even that one moment has Bonnie doing the work. Kat Graham is 5ft2 you mean to tell me Michael couldn't carry her to a bed or something?

It's just annoying when other women were fawned over: Elena, Caroline, Cami, and Hayley were giving one or multiple interests those relationships were done with intent due to having some compassion towards those women. Those relationships center so much of those women. Bonnie gets a half-assed romance with a non-fleshed out character as a "here damn" ship.

You asked about Enzo, and this turned into anti Enzo/Bonenzo rant. Sorry, but BE is the only time his character had some consistency which was adding onto the many ways the series doesn't value Bonnie. Yes, it's nice that Bonnie got some happiness but in the end it just aided into her suffering. Enzo could be lined up with Bonnie's other romances and I swear outside of him lasting 3 seasons you wouldn't see much a difference: Luka M, Ben and Jeremy. All side characters or unimportant because the series doesn't see Bonnie as such.

Kat amazing acting in Enzo's death, and the fact that a future with Enzo was dangled over Bonnie's head like a toy is part of the reason people mourn them so much to me. The show wrapped and we never hear about Bonnie's life for the rest of the franchise.

I wanted to add some 'The Originals' ships but I'm only on season 2 so I'll do a second part when I'll end the series.

Also I had 3 songs in mind for Klaroline it was hard to choose just one lol.

And the song I chose for Bonnie and Enzo was so crystal clear in my mind, when I listen to 'lover' I immediately think about them.

MY THOUGHTS ON TVDU SHIPS

While trying to write for my unfinished fanfics, I think I feel the need to reorganize my opinions on certain relationships on the show/shows of the TVDU. I’m aware nobody asked for my input, this post is purely to indulge myself and get my thoughts out of my head. These are only my opinions on these ships, I’m not trying to say that anyone should share them or agree with them.

Here goes 🌪️

Stefan/Elena: Very first love type of relationship, I can see the vision. But as with many of the Stefan ships, I don’t find it very interesting. I love the romance and the fact they’re so tender with one another. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they had been endgame instead of Delena - it could’ve gone either way for me and I would’ve been okay with it.

Damon/Elena: While I was watching the show I became bewitched by Ian Somerhalder as Damon and his and Nina’s chemistry. I was sold and continue to be, what can I say? Also, I tend to like the older brother-coded characters better. Loved that he was often unhinged and that he was so so desperate for Elena.

Klaus/Caroline: Yes, of course. I love the dynamic, it’s my kind of trope 100%. I wish the writers had given them more, gave them a chance to truly develop their relationship. But the chemistry!!! Amazing I think. There was so much wasted potential - I suppose that’s why I enjoy writing about them so much. And I get why people like other Klaus ships better, so many of his other relationships had More of everything, screen time included. No matter, I fell in love with them through their counted scenes together.

Bonnie/Damon: Oh I wanted to see them happen so badly. I was extremely disappointed that the writers weren’t braver about them. Still, their friendship was one of the things I enjoyed the most about the show. And I do think that Bonnie would’ve been better for him than Elena, she brought out the best in Damon.

Klaus/Camille: When I started watching The Originals I was angry that Camille even existed, it seemed to me that the writers were trying to replace Caroline in Klaus’ new world. But then I realized that Caroline’s and Camille’s similarities began and ended with the color of their hair. Actually, I quite like Camille as a character and her and Klaus’ relationship. I was gutted when they killed her off. I feel like their love was very pure and grew so naturally over time.

Stefan/Caroline: It came out of fucking nowhere I feel like. To me, it was very obvious that the writers were trying to pair off whoever was left and they were just there. I like them much better as friends because I never got any romantic/sexual chemistry from their scenes together, even when they were officially a couple. It did feel like Caroline was second best to Elena for Stefan with how and when they wrote their romance.

Elijah/Hayley: I loved that they were clearly so important to one another BUT I always thought that the writers were imposing the idea of them on us even when they weren’t the best suited for each other. I don’t know, I wanted to love their relationship but they never made me feel anything. Very plain, got ZERO excitement from them.

Bonnie/Enzo: Idk, one of the things I hate when introducing a new couple to a show is when the writers deprive the audience of the process of their falling in love. Maybe I’d like them better if they hadn’t already been so established after the time jump. The flashbacks were sweet and made my indifference fade a bit, but still. Bonnie deserved to have a real love story shown.

Caroline/Tyler or Caroline/Matt: Hate these two ships simply because I don’t like Tyler or Matt as characters AT ALL.

Hayley/Klaus: Now, these two... the writers completely failed them. There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I was never sure whether there was ever any intention of making them happen or if their having sex was only a device to create the plot for The Originals. In the show, they have so many moments that could be read as flirting and pining, and that’s why I’m convinced there was something more than just friendship with them, I really wanted it to be there. Recently I read a post about the cast talking about a love triangle in season 1 between Klaus, Hayley, and Elijah and I SEE IT, but I guess the writers were (wrongly) convinced Elijah was it for her. I think this is one of the few ships that I adore equally as platonic or romantic. I’ll remain disappointed for eternity about this failure to launch. Maybe I’ll write about them in the future - it’s extremely likely.

Well, all this to say, I think I enjoyed most of these ships to a certain capacity while watching the show. It’s fair to say they all had their moments all thanks to the incredible actors playing them.

Conclusion: I would read and write fanfiction about all of them under the right circumstances. 🕯️🕯️

Does anyone else also hate Elena Gilbert? Don't hate me if you love her but literally the only reason season 7 and 8 were good is because she was gone. I just never liked her. Sorry not sorry.

Btw my favourite seasons in Vampire Diaries are 1,6,7 and 8.

Many people in the fandom are salty because Delena were the only TVD couple to get a happy ending although in TVDU there were multiple other couples to get one. Stelena and Klaroline fans get so mad about Delena and Steroline that they often call Steroline Sterocest and Delena Dullena. They call Steroline fans Sterobitches and Delena fans DElusionals while DE and SC fans don't typically use such language against them. Anyways, what couples would you have wanted to be endgame in TVD besides Delena? Even though I love Steroline a lot and consider their ending to be tragic, it makes sense from a writing perspective to have ended the story the way they did. I really wanted Bonnie and Enzo to be endgame since they are among my favorite characters and they suffered more tragedy than Steroline. I would have been fine with other couples not being endgame if Benzo were endgame along with Delena.

That's because shippers care more about their ship than the actual characters in said ship. They care more about Steroline than they care about Stefan and Caroline. They don't imagine what Steroline would look like without Damon because they don't imagine what Stefan would look like without Damon. I'm talking about the same brother whose hell in the stone was to let his brother go, and he STILL had a problem letting his brother go.

They pulled a full circle fire to show the truth of who should've lived and who should've died. No other ending would've sold according to their character writing.

Steroline, Benzo, Jeremy & Anna, Matt & Rebekah. Those are my favorite ships. If it were me, I would've had Enzo take Katherine to hell, with him and Bonnie getting the epic goodbye. This would've made her fight against the hell fire more emotional and given the actress one of the greatest performances in the show. But it's all written according to the beginning.

I know fans like to claim Damon chose Katherine over Stefan, but the show's ending negates their every argument. Damon choosing to become a vampire with Katherine didn't mean he had to leave Stefan. After all, Stefan ends the show as a human with a vampire brother.
