Shueisha color teasers dropped! thoughts on the pallettes?

Okay quick rundown of what I think!

I think Jodio and Dragona look the best, I’m glad they kept Jodio’s colours, and Dragona looks more or less what I expected!

Though I’m not in love with the orange outfit for dragona, I think green or purple would have looked way better! Paco is fine, though I think his hair should have been a dirty blonde.

And I’m so sorry Usagi enjoyers, he’s a lost cause, they made him tingle. They feared to let him slay, they debuffed him. It almost looks alright but then they made the hat neon blue,,, should of been at least red to at least compliment just a lil

I think everyone else’s colours are fine! Though kinda just standard, and I do love November rain, I won with him having blue!! (Looks like weather report which is super cool)

Tbh I can get use to these colours, EVEN though I’ll probably still use the colour palettes I’ve been using, not like Shueisha colours are canon, It’s disappointing they just used palettes from certain Araki paintings over trying to make their own decisions on palettes

Jodio is fine, seeing Araki used it multiple times so it feels like that is what Jodio is supposed to look like, but taking from a painting where the whole point is to be one certain colour scheme, where everyone matches (Araki does these types of paintings a lot) feels somewhat misguided and will make Dragona, Paco and Usagi blend together and while Jodio will stand out.

I feel like there should be more variety of colours amongst the group, similar to how Golden Winds cast are all defined by one colour. I felt like it was too soon to give them colours, but again maybe I’ll warm up to them,

First chapter into the Jojolands, and we already have:

Joestar siblings as the main characters. These two are amazing. Their interactions bounce between eachother really well, and I love how despite beings siblings their designs are so different from eachother. But one thing remains, Araki will always make the joestars pretty. Also, continuing the tradition that all joestars after Jonathan are some kind of criminals these two sell drugs, steal shit, and kill cops (this one is not a crime, let us thank Jodio and Dragona for their service to the community.)

Dragona is the first dark skinned joestar in the manga, and I already love them. They are also very gender™ but we have to see if this is the case of a queer character who uses masculine pronouns... Or a trans woman character who keeps being misgendered. It's still the first chapter, so we will have to see. But, besides that horrible s.a scene with the cops, their presentation has been good, Dragona is just out there living their life with their bro, and looking pretty while doing it. (Also there has been cases of transphobic translators disrespecting queer/trans characters.)

Meryl Mei Qi has only appeared at the end of the chapter, but I already love her. She is the principal of the school, a fashion designer, and sends her own students (who are her employees) to steal shit for her. What a girlboss. Also, for me, her design is really pretty. She is an older, bigger woman, but Araki didn't made her look grosteque.

I love how Jodio narrates this chapter. His manner of speech is very teenager™.

So far we have three confirmed stands. November rain which is Jodio's stand. Smooth operators which is Dragona's stand (and a colony stand too, yay!). And The Hustle which is Paco's stand.

Its seems that one of the main themes for this part is mechanism. The workings of how everything flows to achieve one's goal. Like a chess play where one player has their moves calculated to gain victory. An ecosystem of oportunities where the right answe will move you foward. And Jodio is going to use that mechanism to make himself rich! Filthy rich!

Sure! I'm only on like Chapter 6 on JoJoLands so this won't follow canon too much :') Although, I do call Dragona "They" since the translation and wiki I'm reading says "He" but his Japanese is Feminine so... for now I'll say "They". New to part 9, bear with me.

Dragona knew that they probably weren't the best for you. Poor you had no clue what they or their brother did outside of the Boutique. Far as you knew, you were just friends who loved to talk about fashion and gossip.

You had no clue about Dragona's growing crush on you.

Dragona didn't even originally view their adoration for you as romantic at first. Surely them wanting to be around you all the time was just due to being best friends. You never judged them and even looked after Jodio.

Although... when you two set up a sleepover... they weren't expecting to feel so giddy.

Dragona sighs, laying on their bed while they watched the rise and fall of your breathing. You sat on an air mattress beside them. They couldn't even calm the glowing blush on their face

Maybe... maybe you weren't friends. As in... maybe you both could be something more. Dragona tries to lay their head down to sleep but the fatigue never came.

Their mind went crazy with thoughts of you.

Perhaps they never just wanted to be friends with you. Every time you lent something to them, every little gift you gave, it was all kept as a keepsake. Even just your smile makes their heart throb.

Each time Dragona closed their eyes... they kept thinking of you. Even now they can't take their gaze off you. They keep glancing down at your lips... they think of touching your skin...

Maybe it's about time you started dating.

"You always look so cute~♡" Dragona whispers, mostly to themselves. They find themselves slowly tossing the covers off and inching closer to you. "We'd be cute... together, I think."

They smile as they sit beside your sleeping form. If you knew about this you may see them as creepy. However... you don't have to know...

They've done this every sleepover.

Dragona appreciates these moments you two have together. It's the only time you... aren't surrounded by your friends. Dragona's fist clenched.

Yes... your friends. Always looking so happy. The thought of you spending more time with them makes Dragona want to rearrange their faces.

Clearly you and Dragona have more chemistry together! After all... if you didn't you wouldn't have so many sleepovers, right? So... you two must love one another.

They can't believe they didn't see it before when they watched you from afar... they really thought they were just being overprotective...

In reality they're obsessive, jealous...

Dragona only wants you... only they get to see you so vulnerable.

Who cares if this was creepy... no one had to know. Not even Jodio dared to disrupt Dragona's time with you. His younger sibling knew how much Dragona adored you.

After all it wasn't normal to follow someone else around like a lost puppy... or get jealous that they have friends.

Dragona was so close to leaning in and kissing you but they relent. Now was far too early for such a step... as much as their heart ached for it. For now... they had to wait.

Dragona silently sits beside you as you sleep. Their hand slowly drifts off you as they sigh softly. For now... they could wait.

Maybe in the morning they can confess. They smile eagerly at the thought. Yes... in the morning, you'll be theirs!

Right now... all they wanted to do was sit by you. Even when fatigue eventually began to creep in, they watched you. They didn't even want to swap to their own bed...

Who cares, right? You'll be theirs in the end... so they instead settle in next to you...

Surely you won't mind if they... cuddle you, right?

Is it weird that I am perfectly fine with Araki giving Jodio a severe mental illness but still wish he had given Jodio a different one?

sorry it took so long to answer this one, i was trying to figure out how exactly to answer it, and it turns out there's a lot of different ways:

from a perspective of representation: mental illness is an incredibly stigmatized subject, and in mediums like manga and comic books even more so, as it is incredibly common for a lot of popular plots in those mediums to go "well, x character went crazy, that's why they're evil", as well as stories in general to associate a lack of empathy with a lack of ability to act in traditionally heroic ways. jjba itself has shown that, as part of dio's initial villainous characterization involves him showing a lack of empathy towards various figures such as dario or george (although this isn't the only way his villainy is characterized, as we're also shown right off the bat that he's very deliberately cruel). with jodio being set up as more of an anti-hero, giving him more traits that could be considered unheroic as well as a commonly stigmatized mental disorder, it makes sense to not have that sit quite right. but taking the history of the series into mind, jojo's is no stranger to exploring more shades of gray in its protagonists in its past. johnny and gappy have certainly committed far greater acts of brutality in their parts, while giorno, who jodio is set up as a parallel to, outright aspires to be a head of organized crime. even josuke, who is portrayed as one of the kindest and most pure-of-heart jojos, basically condemns a guy to a fate worse than death in his first arc. this isn't necessarily anything new the series is giving us, and the fact that the jojolands is largely portrayed from the perspective of jodio himself is a massive plus, as it gives us insight into his thought processes and helps us sympathize with a character we might not have done so otherwise (telling a story from the perspective of someone doesn't necessarily ask us to sympathize with them, but things like the goofy jokes he makes with dragona, his own insight on his diagnosis, and his clear love for his family go a long way towards making jodio likeable). one could view this as the natural progression of jojos tending towards the anti-heroic while araki explores more marginalized communities he's interested in portraying, or a poorly thought out decision that furthers stigma towards said marginalized communities. personally, i think it's still too early in the story to make any real judgements, but the way i see it it's kind of similar to the situation with jolyne. she's the only female jojo, and the only one besides jonathan who ultimately fails in her quest at the end of her part. there are narrative and thematic reasons for doing so, but it doesn't sit right with a lot of people, and that's perfectly fine.

from a medical perspective: according to the dsm 5, a person must fit at least three of the criteria for antisocial personality disorder in order to be diagnosed as having it, most of which jodio does fit. failure to conform to social laws and norms (he's a teenage drug dealer), deceitfulness (when barbara ann asks him where he is and if he's hanging out with paco, he lies), impulsivity (he destroys one of the lava rocks to try and get rohan to cooperate), aggressiveness (he kicks that one fucking cop until he's a stain on the ground, twice, although he is justified in his actions and this kind of willingness to fight people is essentially a requirement to be a jojo), reckless disregard of safety (again, practically a requirement for most main characters), consistent irresponsibility (assuming what we've been shown of him is how he acts all the time, yes, although the story so far takes place over too small of a timeframe to determine that), and lack of remorse (dragona has to remind him not to get too violent in the opening chapter with the cop). so he does fit most of the criteria, but it is also a requirement that, to receive a diagnosis, a person must be eighteen or older, with evidence of having fit some of the criteria before the age of fifteen. so by real world standards, jodio would be on track to being diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, but actually receiving it from a high school psychologist is bullshit. then again, this is the universe where the president made a cowboy race battle royale where the contestants had to collect magic body parts, so it's entirely possible that psychiatric standards in that world are just different. but you would be entirely justified in not liking his diagnosis, and there are several other disorders that fit the behavior that jodio shows. there's adhd (the impulsivity and tendency to get lost in daydreams and beating the shit out of cops), depression (the sense of emptiness he describes upon being given his diagnosis), anxiety (irritability and angry outbursts), and that's just some of the more common disorders. we haven't even gotten into some other full-on personality disorders or common comorbidities with antisocial personality disorder! from this perspective, your assessment is totally fair.

from a thematic perspective: as mentioned earlier, jojo's is no stranger to making its heroes increasingly reflected in shades of gray, and parts seven and eight especially make a point of contrasting their protagonists with their respective foils from parts one and four. johnny is a paraplegic gringo jockey twink that murders people so hard his friend the executioner had to tell him to slow down, in contrast with the jacked and kindly gentleman jonathan who impressed a stranger so much with his dignity that he immediately joined him in his quest. gappy is a quirky lil amnesiac who beats people to death with shovels while josuke has one of the more normal personalities of all the jojos and possibly the lowest kill count. at first it might seem like giorno and jodio are the most similar duo, since they're both criminals that act a-okay with murder, but while giorno's goals and reasoning for joining the criminal underground are motivated by a sense of empathy towards the people of italy and a belief in a higher ideology that passione can aspire to, jodio is a very self-centered kid. he has a very inflated idea of his own reputation, can't spot obvious traps, and the very first thing we're told about him is that he wants to be stinking rich. he also believes in the ideology of mechanisms, but it's an ideology that is explicitly centered around gain and his own material wealth, in contrast to giorno's philosophy, which involves ideals of self-improvement and certain boundaries that should not be crossed in the pursuit of power. giorno's ruthlessness stems from a place of compassion, so having his counterpart being someone who lacks the ability to feel empathy is a really interesting choice that gives the story a lot of places to go. the fact that the other criteria he fills, like impulsiveness and irresponsibility, stand in direct contrast to giorno's ambition and planning ahead, also adds further potential for the jojolands to explore a completely different sort of crime story than golden wind. so from this perspective, i'd say that your assessment is rather harsh.

tl;dr there's a lot of different angles to approach this question from. it's 90% probably that i completely misunderstood what you were trying to ask, though, so please tell me what i got wrong :P

In Hawaii, beach concerts are a sort of...usual thing? Well, at least it is for your neighbourhood. It's a convenient place, as the beach is right beside your house, making it like a makeshift backyard for your family. Since many people have been interested in becoming up-and-coming DJs, beach concerts have been becoming something that is held once every fortnight. From RnB music to Pop, a huge variety of music is played for the entire neighbourhood to hear.

That's why one of these concerts had attracted Jodio and Dragona Joestar, both popular in the high school your attending. Although both had some sort of...shady past, you're willing to look past that and see of yourself what sort of person they truly are. Albeit you didn't expect the opportunity to reveal their true colours to arrive so quickly, you had vowed to make do with what spare time you had before this Saturday. You were already on a time crunch since, you know, it's fucking THURSDAY, and you have a project due tomorrow (fuck the teachers), you really had to struggle.

Soon, the fated day arive, where by the DJ, a renowned one, has been playing popular songs by the now-hit singer Ice Spice, the world-renowned Dua Lipa, and the of course, ever famous Eminem. You soon spotted the pair, Jodio in a loose AC/DC hoodie with black cargo pants, his hair always tied in his usual star, though the green star hairclip seems to be more radiant. Actually, HE himself seems to be more radiant. What the hell? Before you could question yourself for saying that he's literally fucking glowing, Dragona walks in and takes the spotlight away. Clad in a tight sweater with a heart boob window, along with the TINIEST jeans you have ever seen on someone, Dragona continues to amaze you with how he ever so continuously slays his outfits. Māhū's are really cool honestly, and Dragona is one of the first you met. He's a super cool guy too, though one could easily mistake him for a girl.

Firstly, you went over to the juice bar. Grabbing a plastic cup, you had spent a concerning amount of time deciding between white wine, grape wine and red wine. You went with sparkling lemon juice. Next, you had to find a way to get close to Jodio Joestar. He seems closed off, and, well, honestly really fucking scary. But, you decide to suck it up anyway and talk to him. What possible could go wrong?

EVERYTHING WENT FUCKING WRONG. Firstly, you spilled the lemon juice on his shoes, then offered to clean it up for him. By doing that, you accidentally fell over and landed face first in the goddamn sand. And when he offered to help you up, you MISSED HIS HAND? HOW DID YOU MISS HIS HAND?! It's okay, sort of? He kinda understood the situation you're in, and pitied you. I would too. How did you mess that up so badly. Holy shit. You guys had really, REALLY, uncanny similiar humour. Even Dragona was freaked out, but glad his brother could find a friend in somone of similiar age. Soon after that, you guys exchanged numbers. His profile picture is some obscure anime guy with a black hat and a Japanese student uniform? He looks really fierce, with the words "ゴゴ" surrounding him. Hm, perhaps this is some unknown special interest that Jodio has.

You got a "ping!" chime from your phone after leaving the concert. There wasn't really much to say, the concert had carried on like normal, though I suppose you may refer to it as a "party" rather than a concert. Seeing that the message notification was from Jodio, you quickly unlocked your phone and saw that he had sent one message and a sticker.

Autumn Sleepover (for PumMooSun)

It had gotten slightly chilly in the Joestar mansion where several little ones resided. Dragona, Jodio, Jolyne , Giorno , and Josuke , Five babies with their mommies and daddies had been excited for a family sleepover , held by Jonathan Joestar , the cold fall weather was perfect for the little ones to stay inside and play before their inevitable bedtime.

“I wan pway too “ Jotaro picked jolyne up and sat her down beside Dragona the only other baby girl at the sleepover as Barbara , Dragona and jodios mommy left to take care of jodio who was crying out for a change and a feeding , but as soon as he was all dry and had a full tummy he was ready to play, crawling over to Josuke. Who then started squealing and rubbing his face to stim, 

“papa! Uppies” Giorno was then lifted up by Jonathan who set him on his hip to bounce him.  “Hehe “

“Dee I wan da pink one” jolyne tried gripping her little fingers around the pink stuffed shark that dragona was trying to take from her “chu  gets da blue sharkie “ Dragona did prefer blue, and she really didn’t want to have jolyne (a littler baby than her) to get upset , “okie” 

“Jolyne , Dragona look at the camera” Jonathan snapped a picture of both girls playing together while Jotaro hugged his baby girl , carrying her off for a few seconds to change her diaper and put her into more sensory friendly clothes, 

“Your dadas sweet girl are you , jolyne.”  She gave her daddy a kiss as she got wiped and powdered before Jotaro taped on a mermaid pattern diaper onto his baby girl , it was Jolynes favourite because when it got wet the small seashells pattern faded and she was able to actually tell her dada when it was change time rather than him having to check.

Soon all the babies got a treat, cold chocolate milk in their bottles , they finally started yawning as their carers cooed to them about what cute babies they were

Once the little ones were tucked in their bed  , Jonathan took an extra special photo of all the babies happily resting with their mommies and daddies

There's a reason why I think Part 9 will be a better "crime story with an anti-hero" than Part 5 because Jodio's reasons to join a criminal lifestyle are implied to be both due to his naivete(sp?) of a typical 15 year-old teen and jaded outlook to the people around him (goodytooshoes and corrupt ppl who are meant to protect you) and his own person. And there's probably more to it as we only got 2 chapters.

Way better than "I joined the mob coz' this kind criminal with a bodycount saved me and I'll have have a better purpose in life. By doing crime and harming people! :D"

Yeah, I do hope part 9 does something better with its crime setting than part 5 does. Of course, there's only two chapters out right now, but so far it feels like it's taking the fact that Jodio is a morally corrupt anti-hero and embracing it a lot more than with Giorno.

With Giorno, I think part 5 tries to simultaneously say "he's definitely DIO's son and sees nothing wrong with gangs, delinquent behavior, murder and brutality to get his way" and "Paradoxically, gangs gave Giorno a purpose in life and straightened out his behavior, and the justice of all the Joestars shine through him too, so he'll be a good mob boss, trust me!" and it... doesn't really work. (Again, it's how I like to say- morally inconsistent.)

Jodio doesn't seem to be framed that way; he really only cares about his family and commits some serious crimes for personal gain, including selling drugs. So I'm optimistic about how part 9 will take that (besides the painful mess that is the gross policeman and Dragona already, but... it's Jojo, so I guess that's just something I'll have to put up with.)

The JOJOLands - Mechanism

Here we are once again with a new JoJo's part, PART 9 The Jojolands and I don't now why am I reading this I haven't read part 8 yet, I am still watching part 6 anime I should not be here but here I am, in hawaii with Jodio, the Jojo with the funiest name not only for it's similarities with a certain spanish word but also because I am quite sure that's the name of one of DIO's ship I don't know if the one with Jonathan, the one with Jotaro or both.

Not much happens in this chapter, of course, although it already told us what the part is going to be about and I am really get the part 5 vibes. I already want to see what is going to hit them in that house.

However the best part, besides Jodio's design, it's that this firts chapter already manage to trigger the dude bros with a canon queer charater ("but DIO" I know but this one is more on their face), and I am so happy for it, everything that triggers them makes me so happy and apart from that I can trust Araki does not write more queer charaters because he doesn't like it or because his editors don't let him which was my theory ut know I can be sure.

Anyway I love Dragona a Jodio, I really like their stands and I so curious to see their story, this time month by month for the first time Araki knows how long, I am not ready for this, I am really hype. I am also really ashame since I am officially a part skipper I will try to resolve that as soon as I can.
