Which are the best skin care products?
Choosing the finest skincare products might be difficult because there are so many alternatives available. But getting healthy, glowing skin depends on choosing the appropriate skincare products. The top skincare products differ based on skin type, concerns, and individual preferences; nonetheless, the following are highly regarded goods in important categories:
1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is the cleaner.
Any skincare regimen needs a mild cleanser, and CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is considered to be among the finest. This cleanser, which is formulated with ceramides and hyaluronic acid, effectively eliminates debris, oil, and makeup while preserving the skin's natural moisture balance. It supports the preservation of the skin's layer of defense, making it perfect for dry to normal skin types.
2. Toner: Witch Hazel Thayers Toner
Thayers Witch Hazel Toner is a well-liked option for anyone seeking a toner that brightens and calms the skin. Aloe vera and witch hazel help tone and tighten the skin, and it is devoid of alcohol, making it suited for sensitive skin. This toner works well to minimize pores and manage oil without drying
Third, serum: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is a cult favorite for oily and acne-prone skin. Serums are important for addressing certain skin conditions. Zinc controls oil production and has anti-inflammatory properties, while niacinamide helps with acne look and skin texture overall.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer is the fourth moisturizer.
Using a quality moisturizer is essential to maintaining lush, nourished skin. All skin types, especially sensitive skin, can benefit from La Roche-Posay's Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer since it is made with ceramides, niacinamide, and prebiotic thermal water. It gives long-lasting, non-greasy hydration while repairing the skin's natural barrier.
5. Eye Cream: Kiehl's Avocado-Creamy Eye Treatment
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado provides hydrating nourishment for sensitive skin around the eyes. The delicate eye region may be soothed and moisturized with ease because to the thick, creamy texture. To moisturize and smooth fine wrinkles, it includes avocado oil, which is high in vital fatty acids.
6. Sunscreen: In any skincare regimen, EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46
sunscreen is an absolute must. Most people agree that EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 is among the greatest sunscreens for everyday usage. In addition to providing UVA and UVB protection, it has niacinamide, which soothes and calms the skin. Skin that is sensitive, prone to rosacea, and acne-prone might benefit from this oil-free, lightweight product.
7. Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant is the exfoliator.
In order to eliminate dead skin cells and unclog pores, exfoliation is essential, and Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant is an incredible product. Salicylic acid (BHA), an ingredient in this chemical exfoliator, thoroughly penetrates pores to dissolve oil and stop breakouts. It's especially helpful for people with combination and acne-prone skin.
8. Mask: SuperMud Clearing Treatment by GlamGlow
A great option for treating acne and blackheads is GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment, which also doubles as a face mask. Six acids are combined with activated charcoal in this mask to exfoliate, cleanse, and remove clogged pores, leaving the skin looking noticeably smoother and cleaner.
9. Turmeric + Vitamin C + Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Face Oil
Sunday Riley's C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil is ideal for brightening and reviving the complexion. Facial oils may help feed and protect the face. The combination of evening primrose oil, vitamin C, and turmeric hydrates and protects the skin from free radicals while enhancing its natural radiance.
10. Retinol: 0.1% Acne Treatment with Differin Adapalene Gel
Differin Gel is among the top retinol over-the-counter treatments. Retinol is a potent anti-aging and acne-fighting component. Adapalene, a retinoid derivative included in it, helps prevent acne and minimizes the look of wrinkles and fine lines. It functions by encouraging cell turnover and is appropriate for oily and acne-prone skin types.
Selecting Products That Are Correct for Your Skin Type
Even if the aforementioned items are widely used, it's crucial to take your unique skin type into account when choosing skincare products:
For dry skin, look for moisturizing creams that contain ceramides, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid.
Oily Skin: Choose mattifying, oil-free products that contain zinc, niacinamide, and salicylic acid.
Select mild, fragrance-free products with calming components like chamomile and aloe vera for sensitive skin.
Acne-Prone Skin: To treat and avoid breakouts, look for products that contain salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and retinoids.
Combination Skin: Target different regions of your face with a combination of moisturizing and oil-controlling products.
In summary
The greatest skincare solutions are ones that address the unique issues you have with your skin while preserving the integrity and health of your skin barrier. Whether your goals are anti-aging, sun damage prevention, acne treatment, or hydration, the correct products may significantly improve the look and health of your skin. Never forget to patch-test new products and see a dermatologist if you have any particular skin-related problems.

everything but the bathroom sink
Hey! It's been a while. Let's get right into it. Below I've catalogued every facial skincare product in my cabinet right now, travel products excluded. I like everything I have, or else I wouldn't have it.
Legend: (1) I use it every day (2) I use it 1 or more times per week (3) I use it infrequently but, in most cases, at least once per month
Cleansers
(1) Biologique Recherche - Lait VIP O2 The goat of cream cleansers. (1) Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser The goat of gel cleansers. (2) iS CLINICAL - Cleansing Complex My shower cleanser. (2) Dr. Hauschka - Soothing Cleansing Milk Found it at Central Market and liked the texture; I use it instead of or in combination with the BR Lait cleanser sometimes. (2) Biologique Recherche - Eau Micellaire Biosensible PM product; pre-cleanse makeup remover on the off-chance I wore makeup that day. (2) Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil Pre-shower cleanser. (3) Institut Esthederm - Osmoclean Gentle Deep Pore Cleanser Only a 3 because I haven't opened it yet. It's "on deck," so to speak.
Eye Treatments
(1) Exquisite - Eye Complex AM product; super-hydrating caffeine eye gel. Don't judge me re: the price. (1) COSRX - Advanced Snail Peptide Eye Cream PM product; the perfect eye product. If I had to use only one eye cream the rest of my life, it would be this one. (2) Patchology - Rejuvenating Under Eye Gels They're good. Sometimes I deviate from my favorite products just to keep it interesting > the best eye patches are actually from WANDER because they don't slip (I have mentioned these on the blog before). (3) NIOD - Fractionated Eye-Contour Concentrate (FECC) This started to cause some mild irritation on my upper eyelids some months back. I can't get rid of it but have not been using it - will revisit.
Masks
(2) Biologique Recherche - Masque Vivant The goat. If I had to use only one masque the rest of my life, this would be it. Yes, it's brown and smells like teriyaki sauce, but it delivers. Trust. (2) Biologique Recherche - Masque VIP O2 Nice in combination with the Masque Vivant, and also on its own. Beautiful texture; face feels amazing when it's on, as well as after rinsing. (2) MEDIHEAL - Collagen Essential Lifting & Firming Face Mask Chill, gentle sheet mask - really important this time of year as the weather changes and skin tends drier. (3) Glamglow - Supermud Activated Charcoal Mask I have the mini size, just for fun. (3) Then I Met You - Rosé Resurfacing Facial Mask I bought this a LONG time ago and shelved it for an indeterminable number of months. Beautiful packaging and concept. Pink gel mask with bits of rose petals in it - PACKED with AHAs/BHAs. Don't let the pretty, innocent-looking hue fool you. It will rip your face off. I can only tolerate it for up to 10 minutes. Sometimes you need the feeling of full face rebirth though.
Toners
(1) Honest - Beauty Elevated Hydration Mist This product "honest"ly annoys me but not enough to get rid of it. It does what it should. I only use it every day because I need a mist every day. I don't like letting my face completely dry out after cleansing/showering before applying something else, so a mist is essential for me. What bothers me is it's marketed as "watermelon" - there is nothing melon-y about this. The smell is not even good. I don't know. Whatever. It's fine. Don't buy it though. An actually-awesome mist that I love and recently finished is Tata Harper - Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Floral Essence (expensive, but lasts). (2) Biologique Recherche - Lotion P50 1970 I don't think I'll ever go without this. Best AHA/BHA toner. Non-drying, great tingle. (2) SKII - Facial Treatment Essence Watery texture - I use this as my everything-toner with the earthling co - Reusable Bamboo Cotton Rounds; usually when I get out of the shower and want to be absolutely sure there's no trace of conditioner or body oil on my face. (3) swissline - Resurfacing Water - 10% Glycolic Acid PM product; this stuff really is the bomb but I just haven't been in the mood to use it. I have other products that do the same thing.
Serums/Treatments
(2) Biologique Recherche - Collagène Originel A very nice hydrating serum. It smells like blueberries, which I believe is unintentional (BR does not add fragrance to their products), which is a bonus. (2) The Klog - Hydra Shield Anti-Pollution Jelly Toner Marketed as a "toner," but it definitely has more of a gel/serum texture. There is a small fraction of a percentage of synthetic salicylic acid in this. I realized this recently and don't know how I feel about it. Literally - sometimes I think that's good and other times I don't get why they snuck that in. It is not noticeable, really. I use this overtop the BR serum when I feel like I need *even more* hydration. (2) Neutrogena - 20% Vitamin C Brightening Serum Capsules This is a product that's making me question my skincare tenets. I bought these capsules because Bethenny Frankel went ape-sh*t over them in an Instagram reel. They are packed with dimethicone, which I typically hate. I'm really not even hype on vitamin C in general, but I just like these a lot. Nice tingle, and lightened some dark spots. I will take the risk of the skin-suffocating silicone ingredient since it appears to suffocate vitamin C into certain areas where I need it. (3) Rx Retin-A - Tretinoin 0.025 - No URL here. You need a prescription from a dermatologist for this. I haven't been using this lately. Can be drying, and just haven't been in the mood. (3) Ursa Major - Natural Vitamin C Face Serum This is a beautifully hydrating vitamin C serum, which does not have silicones in it, and for some reason I seldom feel like using it. I do love it though. It's there.
Moisturizers/Finishers
(1) OSEA - Atmosphere Protection Cream I decided I am not using moisturizers that come in pots anymore. How can that be hygienic, to dip your fingers or a little spatula in there every time you need to use it? The answer is - it's not. Anyway, I like this OSEA cream. I bought it because I buy a lot of things that Michelle Villett tells me to. (2) Solved Skincare - 100% Organic Golden Jojoba Oil PM product; when I need more moisture at night (i.e. after using the rose acid mask), I layer this over my moisturizer. Jojoba oil is non-comedogenic. (1) Kinship - Self Reflect SPF 32 Probiotic Moisturizing Sunscreen AM product; as long as they keep making this, I will keep buying it. Best facial sunscreen I have ever used. I have a big size for home in vanilla, and a travel size in rose. Mineral, light-weight, reef-safe, no-white-cast, clean, vegan, cruelty-free, sustainably packaged, dermatologist tested. Check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check. Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
Other
(2) MitoMIN - 60 LED Red Light Therapy Device I use this about 5x per week; usually 10 minutes in the morning while I read The Daily Stoic (thanks, @Lauren Robertson) and finish my coffee before the crazy starts. I do this after cleansing and applying eye cream and serum, but before moisturizing and applying SPF. (3) Since I'm honest, and you should be too, I went in for two Botox treatments this year. Forehead and brow-area only.
Okie dokie smokey, there it is. I'll be back when I'm back. THOUGHTS? QUESTIONS? CONCERNS? WHAT DO YOU USE? HIT ME ON MY GRAM: @madhautblog
love u mean it

Self Care 101 🦋
Tumblr media
In this post I’ll be outlining my current routines as they relate to self care. I’ll cover everything from head to toe making sure not to skip your spirit. You cannot be a girl of ANYONE’S dreams if you aren’t taking care of the most important person in your world: you.
mornings:
wash face with gentle cleanser from curology, tone with organic Mamonde rose water and finish with rich moisturizer and spf30
brush teeth with activated charcoal toothpaste by Crest and baking soda for whitening and gum clarity
take vitamins : woman’s one a day, hair skin nails, biotin, vitamin c
drink glass of water then a cup of tea
black tea, raw cane sugar, a lemon slice, ginger
good for energy, immune function, and detox
showers:
this may sound so extra (😅), but depending on my hairstyle, I sometimes like to let the shower run for about five minutes with the door closed to create a sauna effect. this is especially if I have a mask on my hair.
my showers usually are about 20-30 minutes
I have a back brush, pink exfoliating gloves, a loofah, and tree hut body scrubs and I use them ALL.
I wash first with my dove beauty bar to assure clean skin before washing with EITHER my OGX Shea So Soft body wash or Dove Renewing Peony and Rose Oil body wash to add scent or silkiness to my skin.
Tumblr media
hair removal:
I haven’t yet mastered the art of waxing myself so I’m still riding the shave wave. *when I do I’ll make a post 4 that*
I exfoliate throughly before AND after shaving
I shave my entire body using Tree Hut Shaving Oil and a nice conditioner I’m not using. This leaves my skin super soft and silky and helps the razor to glide without skipping. I use Gillette Venus. no less than five blades, anything less is ASKING for nicks and a hard time.
Tumblr media
when I don’t feel like shaving, I use Nair. use at your own risk. yes, I Nair my ENTIRE BODY. only leaving it on for about 7 minutes I rinse in WARM (not hot) water and exfoliate afterwards. it is imperative to moisturize after to avoid irritation. however, Nair is much easier to do than shaving and seems to last an inkling longer.
after shaving, once a month, I pull out my KENZZI. it’s an IPL device and it has helped to slow the growth of my hair. it’s noticeable for us long, thick haired chicks. I use the second to lowest setting as a melanated babe, as the higher settings could burn me.
I know many endorse the hair on women movement and I can understand it. But I personally love my skin silky, hairless, and smooth.
nights:
after eating dinner, I wash my face and apply the tiniest bit of glycolic serum and my curology night cream. my skin has been the best it’s been in a few years. then I brush my teeth and rinse with peroxide.
every four days I give myself a facial
my favorite face masks:
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid mask
The Ordinary AHA + BHA mask
all Tony Moly sheet masks *luvvvvv those*
GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD clearing treatment *fav*
Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme mask
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel mask
Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud mask
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel mask
ORIGINS Clear Improvement mask
An at home honey and aloe mask
I apply a rich facial moisturizer and get to bed.
I then write in my planner my new plans and what I did that day if I hadn’t already. then after that I script and make mood boards in my diary. then I read a little. currently reading: Making Faces by Kevyn Aucoin, and Live Like a hot Chick by Jodi Lipper.
Tumblr media
emotions:
I talk to my grandmother about my feelings, she helps me sort things out. please try to find one person you trust to talk to, my messages are always open. 💓 I often overthink. I suffer from anxiety and clinical depression. sometimes these things make me FEEL limited. these experiences wax and wane. I remind myself that the darkness is temporary.
I write in my diary what I feel and track my emotions for potential patterns. I don’t manufacture or sugar coat my feelings, I just talk.
Tumblr media
sometimes you need a good cry. let it out. clean your slate. you’ll always feel better, sometimes great after a hard, deep sobbing cry.
I try to get out of the house and get some sunlight. it helps brighten my mood sometimes.
baths:
LOVE taking baths I don’t care what the status quo is about dirt. just rinse off. I love wrapping my hair up and soaking in warm-hot water.
first I run the water. as it’s running I add my bubble bath, then body wash, then my Shea Moisture fragrant coconut oil. it smells soooo good, literally yummy. then I inevitably scream from dipping my toe in the hot water. finally I get in, scrub down my body, emphasis on feet. then I wash, and just relax. I’ve even fallen asleep in the tub once, I was so zen.
careful not to soak too long or overdo it with your products. synthetic materials lingering in your lady bits for too long cause cause infections like bv or uti
some women add tea tree oil, acv, or even Aztec clay to their baths for wellness purposes. I love adding essential oils to my baths to relax and the natural scent is just great 🥺
when I get out I always put something that feels lush and soft on. *invest in super soft, comfy bath towels, they’ll make you feel so luxurious and soft after a nice relaxing bath*
flower:
the yoni is something sensitive that needs to be taken care of thoroughly, and differently than the rest of your body. it’s not recommended to use soaps down there, it can unbalance things and make you itch. also make you prone to infection. this is why I use clear warm water to clean. if I use soap it’s a sensitive, gentle formula. don’t ever try to clean the cavity. she’s a self cleaning vessel.
to shave, I trim my hair down as close as possible and use a FIVE BLADE razor with conditioner and take my time. making sure not to pass a spot twice, I apply moderate pressure and move slowly. when finished I rinse and scrub gently. I PAT not rub dry. to finish off I apply TendSkin, and salicylic acid to avoid ingrowns. once that’s soaked in I apply shea butter. very soft and pretty 🌸
⚠️ DO NOT PUT ON TIGHT PANTIES OR RIGHT PANTS AFTER SHAVING. it restricts the hairs and causes irritation and ingrowns. throw on some comfy loose shorts for a while, let it breathe
dietary needs:
drink plenty of water
cranberry juice
vitamin c
minimal red meat
probiotics
at home vagacial for the high maintenance girlies:
*make any necessary extractions with pointed and slanted tweezers *
scrub:
brown sugar, tea tree oil, a little shea butter
exfoliating and anti inflammatory
mask:
baking soda, fresh lemon juice, vitamin e oil, papaya juice, gelatin
fixes discoloration and brightens the skin while softening
moisturize:
aloe vera gel, rose hip seed oil
Tumblr media
smelling sweet:
ah yes, my favorite part. I love fragrance so much. I love to smell like you could literally break off a piece of me and eat it.
I find that using fragrant washes and oils make your scent more strong and help it linger. I already mentioned the body washes I use. the tree hut scrubs I use smell amazing also. I alike to add essential oils and man made scents like strawberry and chocolate to my Shea Moisture oil (so yummy).
I also use a fragrant lotion, eau de parfum, and fragrance mist.
here’s a list of some of my favorites:
perfumes:
jimmy choo fever
coach floral blush
yves saint laurent mon paris
victoria’s secret bombshell
victoria’s secret scandalous
valentino
fragrance mists:
victoria’s secret velvet petals, pure seduction, warm and cozy
bath and body works a thousand wishes, fiji pineapple palm, warm vanilla sugar, black raspberry vanilla
oils:
coconut
sweet almond
peppermint
chocolate scented essential oil
strawberry scented essential oil
orange
grapefruit
eucalyptus
sweetest combo ever:
vanilla extract, coconut oil, shea butter, and your favorite perfume. you’ll be smelling like a warm cupcake with extra sprinkles and icing 🧁
layering:
oil, lotion, eau de parfum, mist
pulse points:
inside elbows and knees, in between thighs, inner arms, behind ears, back of neck, ankles
Tumblr media
hair:
it’s super important to keep your hair moisturized. quenched tresses move, grow, shine and bounce. dry hair is limp, lackluster, and extremely fragile
my fav diy deep conditioner:
a banana, half an avocado, three spoons of honey, an egg, a spoonful of mayo, a spoonful of coconut, olive, and castor oil each
strength from egg, avocado, mayo and olive oil
moisture from avocado and honey
cover damp CLEAN hair and scalp in mixture and cover with a plastic bag, then towel for an hour, rinse thoroughly, and seal in moisture
fav hair products:
castor oil
fusionplex conditioner and mask
Aussie conditioner
wella goji berry mask
coconut oil
style booster edge control
helpful tips:
when shampooing, concentrate on the scalp and wash thoroughly twice, as the suds will naturally cleanse your stands without drying and stripping them
rinse hair with apple cider vinegar every now and then. it restores your ph balance, smooths the cuticle, clarifies the strands, and adds shine
always add oil and leave ins to DAMP hair, never dry; this will ensure you’re sealing in moisture
try to use smooth fabrics to dry your hair, bath towels encourage frizz and breakage
hands and feet:
Tumblr media
and last but not least, let’s cover manicuring and pedicuring.
it’s super important to make sure your nails are either DONE or filed, shaped, and smooth. at home maintenance is super easy. make a point to scrub your hands and feet well when bathing. make sure to stay on top of your cuticles by trimming or pushing them back. I like the look that pushing them gives. I use an orangewood stick, metal pusher and cuticle softener to make the process super easy and safe. after I’m done I add my pineapple scented cuticle oil. I do this on my fingers and toes.
invest in a rasp and pumice stone for your feet and use these gently every two weeks after soaking them in warm foot salts. rough usage can cause cuts and irritation. in between treatments keep your feet soft by slathering them in a moisturizing foot cream, cocoa/shea butter then oil to seal it all in. buy some soft thick aloe infused socks and wear them to sleep. you’ll thank me 😉
for info on how I do my nails click this
Tumblr media
well, that’s all I’ve got. I truly hope you enjoyed my post! it’s always fun sharing my advice with you all. any feedback is appreciated and question is welcomed ♡

Okay, so I LOVE TALKING SKINCARE. This is a huge topic for me and I often write up a blog post once a year where i recommend skin care products. So here is this year’s recommendation! An insanelyyyyy long and detailed post nobody asked for!! HERE WE GO:
I am a long time skincare advocate...before it really blew up and people started really getting to know more about their products and ingredients. I’ve just always had very acne-prone skin so I’ve had to pay attention to what products and ingredients I was using and how their formulas worked for me. As a result, over the years I tried A SHIT TON of products. Many expensive, fancy, high end, etc. But now I have my skincare routine down to a much more manageable and quality ingredient list. Obviously everyone’s skin is different...but this is what I use on a regular basis these days:
Serums:
- Krave Beauty’s Great Barrier Relief Serum: Honestly, this is THE SHIT. My favorite moisturizing serum to really help balance your skins hydration barrier and stay hydrated. It’s thicker and almost feels like a moisturizer. It’s so great.  - The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Drops: Niacinamide is an amazing ingredient for your skin and can help a tremendous amount with clearing the skin, resurfacing, fading scars, and more. This really does a good job helping with my acne, so i really recommend to anyone. And I am pretty sure it’s like $5 cause it’s from the ordinary.
Moisturizers:
- CeraVe Moisturizing Cream: It’s a very cheap drug store moisturizer that has good, clean ingredients. After using fancy moisturizers for years, I finally gave into my dermatologist’s recommended lotion. LOL. They do have a lotion that is lighter, but my skin tends to be dryer, especially in the winter so I use the cream not the lotion. It’s thicker. (For high end junkies--it’s like comparing Drunk Elephant’s LaLa Retro to their Protini cream). I also sometimes throw in drops of a marula oil into this cream if I am really dry. Make myself a little face smoothie.
Eye/Lip Creams:
- Mario Badescu Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream: Now honestly, I still haven’t found my perfect eye cream yet...but I have used this one for a few years now. It moisturizes well and is cheap to buy. It’s probs not the most effective but at least I am moisturizing my eye area. One day I will take on more eye creams that target certain things, but that is one day when I have money to spend lmao. -Glossier Bubblewrap Lip/Eye Cream: This is a very unique moisturizing product that is meant for sensitive skin like your eye area and lips. It does say it plumps a bit, which I don’t ever feel a plumping effect, but I do love to use it on my lips. It’s so moisturizing and is kind of like using a primer before you apply chapstick or lipstick.
Exfoliators:
- Glossier Solution: The OG chemical exfoliant I tried and loved. These types of products aren’t great for everyone, and may have to be used less or more depending on skin type, but as an acne-prone human, I love a chemical exfoliant. This works and lasts a long while.
- Krave Beauty’s Kale-Lalu_AHA: Another chemical exfoliant. I recently tried this one because I do believe Krave Beauty uses better ingredients than Glossier Skin typically does (no shade tho). They were close in price, so I made the switch and have enjoyed the results so far. The packaging is also beautiful.
- Dr. Brant Microdermabrasion Exfoliant: This is NOT a chemical peel, this has aluminum oxyde crystals in it to polish the skin like a normal exfoliant would. It also has a lot of ingredients that help renew and refresh the skin while exfoliating. Now this product is HELLA expensive...I only have it because I once bought it for way cheaper when I had a subscription box. I don’t know if I would spend the full $80 bucks on it, but your skin does feel smooth.
- Tatcha The Deep Polish: This is an enzyme powder that you mix with water and exfoliate fro there. It is from when I used to buy the highest end products in hopes it would help my skin. It is pricey, but again does leave your skin feeling soft. So I rotate it in from time to time.
Masks:
- The Ordinary’s AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution: AKA THE BLOOD MASK. Now hugely popular on social media, the “blood mask” is a chemical mask that peels off dead skin and essentially works to eliminate the top layers of your skin and begin rejuvenating a fresher layer for softer, healthier, plumper skin. I do this once a week and it is way cheap. I can compare it to Drunk Elephant’s Sukari Babyfacial and it definitely beats that expensive version.
- Glow Recipe’s Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask: This is an overnight moisturizing mask that you simply wash off in the morning. It really helps lock in moisture and feels nice on the skin. I use this when I am feeling really dry.
- Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask: This one you have to mix the dry clay mixture with water and apple cider vinegar to create a goo that you can then let dry on your face. It may be intense for some, but I find it really helps dry out my acne spots and reduce redness in my skin. It’s always a fun one to do with other people too because you do have to prepare it. Good sleepover activity.
- GlamGlow Bubble Sheet Mask:  This one is honestly more so used for when I am traveling and want to keep a mask on hand or when I am having a fun girls night or something. It’s a bubble mask--so to me that just means fun. I typically avoid sheet masks (unless I am traveling) because I think you end up throwing a way a lot of product you are paying for. But this one is fun, it’s cute, it’s different. I don’t notice a huge change in my skin tbh, but it is a fun activity for girls night.
Honorable Mention/Random Products:
- Youth to the People’s Kale and Green Tea Superfood Cleanser: I stayed away from this one for a long time because it’s expensive and I could rationalize buying such an expensive cleanser, but I got a gift card to Sephora and finally decided to try it. And ya know what?? I guess I am fancy now because I really love it. It does not overly strip your skin at all, and for the first time in my life I really know what that means. It’s so great, it smells so good. Ugh. Can’t get enough of this bougie bitch of a face wash.
- The Inkey List Retinol Cream: A recent purchase, but I have enjoyed seeing the results. Everyone imo should be using an eye cream and a retinol. This is a nice introduction to retinol, so I recommend to those looking for one.
- Glossier Mint Balm Dot Com Chapstick: THIS AGAIN--IS THE SHIT. Many will say they would never spend more than two bucks but one tube of their’s is seven bucks and it is WORTH IT. I buy the three pack once a year and i’m good. This is the best chapstick you will literally ever use. Fucking buy it. If I could tell you only three products that are a must from this list this would be one of them. (the other two would be great barrier relief and the kale cleanser)
- Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I like this lip mask, it’s not needed everynight, but I do like to use a lip exfoliant (made or buy one, whatever) and then use this to really retextures my lips.
- Bag Balm: Now this is a very unusual product to recommend lmaooo. Originally, bag balm is used for chapped cow udders on farms--which is how I discovered it. Farmers eventually noticed that it helped your skin retain moisture and repair cracked skin in their hands. So now it is known as a good thick ass cream for hands and feet. Now this shit is again--used on cows originally, so the formula feels thick and greasy. I like putting it on at night and letting it soak in for a while as I lay on my phone. It really works--I swear to you.
- Sagely CBD Cream: I use their relief and recovery crea which smells like lavender and has a cooling effect when applied to the skin (kinda like biofreeze or icyhot would). This is only a 50mg CBD lotion, but I do like it.
- Mad Ritual CBD Muscle Recovery Balm: Now this is thick and definitely a balm, not a cream. It is much higher strength though, so I break it out when needed and a little goes a long way. This one is 200mg of CBD.
- Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: This drying lotion is now so popular but has been a staple of mine for at least a decade now. You leave it on over night and it really does dry up and reduce zit size. Helps a lot. There must be a reason why super models are told to use this shit before a runway show.
- Tatcha The Essence: Essences are a new and kind of weird thing, kinda like priming the skin to allow for better absorption of a product. Now this product I received as a Christmas gift one year, but I am pretty sure it’s like $100...breaking the bank as always, tatcha. Anyway, it does allow for better absorption of products and feels light and refreshing on the skin. One bottle has lasted me two years now. I don’t know if I would recommend it, but I do use it somewhat regularly and it does make you feel like a bougie bitch.
AND THAT IS THE END. Sorry that was soooo long. But like I said, I do a write up once a year of my skincare products anyway. So there you guys have it!! If you have any questions at all about your skin or skincare routine , honestly hit me up. Over the years I have slowly has friends come to me. Once I collect all of the I will have all of the infinity stones lmao.

this was funnnnnnnnnnn I hope you enjoy it! (the skin care products I used were the pink grapefruit body butter from the body shop and glamglow gravity mud firming treatment as the face mask :D)
15. “I’m going to walk out this door, count to ten, then come back in and whatever this is better not be happening when I come back.”
25. “I know we’re really close but we need to talk about boundaries.”
warning: neked Bonky ;) and one (1) swear
Bucky stood in front of the bathroom mirror and pushed his wet hair back from his face. He bopped slightly to the music that was blasting through the speaker in the shower as he wiped the mist from the mirror with his towel. Bucky stepped back and admired himself briefly, he hummed along to the music.
Today had been a good day.
He had the apartment to himself for the entire day for starters. So Bucky promptly decided that today was self-care Friday.
He’d had pancakes and fruit for breakfast, watched an episode of his guilty pleasure show (Ru Paul’s Drag Race), then he went to the gym and had the best work out he’d had in months.
Now Bucky had finished having a long, hot and relaxing shower without his roommate banging on the door telling him to stop wasting the hot water. The door was ajar so the cat wouldn’t scratch at it. His favourite playlist was spitting out tune after tune. Today was a good day, so lets make it better.
Bucky kept humming and bopping to the music as he opened the cabinet and pulled out the large light pink container, spinning off the lid and bringing it up to his face.
“mmm, grapefruit.” He rubbed the body butter over his neck and shoulders, up his legs and over his hands. “She never notices if there’s some missing,” he laughed spinning the lid back on and putting in on the shelf.
Bucky scanned over the shelves looking for the final step in his skincare routine. Though you couldn’t quite call it a routine, it happen sporadically, only when she wasn’t here to call him out on using her products. Life with roommates is annoying.
His eyes landed on the small purple tub and he peered out the crack in the door, just in case, before he began applying the mask to his face.
“Fresh shave, face mask. I think I’ll have a beer next.”
You walked into the apartment, thank god it was Friday, so many assignments, so many stupid people you had to deal with in classes. But now you could just relax, maybe put on a face mask and order take out, watch some bad comedies. make a cocktail. Yes, that’s a good idea.
You dropped your bag by the counter and made your way towards the bathroom, Bucky must be in his room, you thought as you walked past his closed door, light coming out from underneath it.
You pushed open the door more and screamed at the image in front of you. Bucky. Naked. Basically glistening. Hair wet. Putting silver cream on his face? THATS YOU FACE MASK GODDAMMIT.
Bucky jumped at your scream and scrambled to pick up his towel and cover the goods with his free hand.
“Afternoon doll,” he looked at you sheepishly, silver on his fingers and half most of his face.
“Bucky. I’m going to walk out this door,” you sighed, hand covering your eyes, “count to ten, then come back in and whatever this is better not be happening when I get back.” And with that you closed the door and leaned your back against it.
Bucky finished the last spot on his forehead with the mask, may as well do it anyway there’s no going back now, he thought putting the tub back and wrapping the mask around his hips as the door opened again.
“All good to go,” he smirked at you walking past and into his room.
“I can’t fucking believe you,” you mumbled under your breath, slamming the door behind you. You didn’t even want to put on a mask now, at least not the one he had used, it was tainted for the time being. A sheet mask will have to do.
Clad in sweats and a hoodie, a beer in his hand, face mask hardening on his face, comedy on the TV Bucky relaxed into the couch. Nothing can ruin self-care Friday.
You huffed walking into open lounge and kitchen the same attire as Bucky but a lot more weight of the world on your shoulders in your step. Falling onto the couch you snatched the beer out of his hand and took a gulp before turning to him.
“Look, I know we’re really close but we need to talk about boundaries.” His mouth dropped open and he took the beer back from you.
“Are we really that close?”
“We’ve known each other since first year Bucky we’re pretty freaking close.” he shrugged and handed you back the drink, getting up to grab another from the fridge. “That doesn’t mean you can go and use my goddamn Glamglow though! That shits expensive!”
“Alright,” he fell back into the couch, arm thrown over the back behind you, “probably shouldn’t tell you I used your body butter as well then huh”
“BUCKY! Buy some yourself!!” That’s it, you were moving out, or kicking him out, he can live with Steve for the rest of his life for all you care.
“What no?! I don’t know what to get its much easier just using your stuff. And it’s not like I use it all the time, just ya know,” he let out a laugh, dodging you trying to hit him, “whenever you’re out for the whole day and I’m at home.”
“I expect you to buy me replacements. At least you don’t use my shampoo or conditioner, not even Steve could save you if that were the case.” You shot a glare towards him as he chuckled and swept his hair back and that’s when you got it, the smell of lavender. “YOU ASSHOLE!!”
Bucky’s laughed grew louder as you leapt onto him, pushing him back against the armrest of the couch, smacking at his chest and pushing at him as he tried to get you off.
“I couldn’t help myself! It makes my hair so soft!” He caught your wrists and held you in place on his lap. “Doll I’m sorry I’ll buy you more of everything I promise, just please don’t kill me.” He continued to laugh as you struggled in his arms.
“Like I can trust you,” your eyes narrowed as you tried to escape but Bucky wrapped one arm around your back and pulled you further into him as you shifted in his lap. He let out a groan and you both stopped your movements, realising exactly how close you had gotten.
“I should um,” Bucky licked his lips, his eyes darted from yours down and then back up. You were pressed against his chest, he could feel your arms digging into him but you were both frozen, “I should probably take this thing off.”
“Oh,” you snapped back into reality and quickly moved off of him, shuffling back to the opposite end of the couch, “yea, you should.”

LAH TEE!! So I’ve been over on skincare addiction zhuzzing tf out of my routine because I finally have nearly flawless skin baby so let’s fuck with it because we’re giant nerds who don’t know how to quit when they’re ahead. And I’m wondering what your current skincare routine is like!! I remember you posting about it like maybe a year or two ago? Back when I thought skincare was apricot scrub and ponds cold cream. Anything working for you these days? Any new holy grail products?? Please share!
OI OIIIIII
I have pretty much Perfected my skincare routine and for the first time in at least two years I’m not constantly on the hunt for products to shove into my routine willynilly that will undoubtedly break me out, so I have a Refined List for you (of products that YOU can shove into your routine willynilly, ayyyyy).
morning:
Kiehl’s Calendula Foaming Face Wash – a nice gentle cleanser so I have a fresh, clean, bebe face to start the day
Glossier Solution exfoliator – god! send! (I will only use this in the morning if I HAVEN’T used Good Genes the night before, otherwise it’s too much for my face and I turn into a tomato)
LUSH Eau Roma Water – I will spritz morning noon and night
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream – The Only Moisturiser For Me
Caudalie Anti-Aging Face Suncare SPF50 – I’m baby (and baby exfoliates with acids)
night (makeup removers):
Johnson’s Baby Lotion on a cotton pad – so, so gentle on delicate skin; destroys mascara in seconds
Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water – if I’ve had heavy makeup on then I use this after the Baby Lotion for stubborn eyeliner and any residue
Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser – if I’m showering at night I take my makeup off while I’m in there with Milky Jelly (it also DISAPPEARS my pores after use, which is nice) and then double cleanse with the Kiehl’s Calendula cleanser
night night:
LUSH Eau Roma Water
Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment – I KNOW I’M BOUGIE. I KNOW IT. but this is my #1 holy grail product and is worth every single spenny penny. I started using it once a week and have worked up to using it every second or third night, and it is just so good. I wake up and I look like a glowing angel. it smoothes, it exfoliates, it knocks spots on the head, it’s everything. and my INCREDIBLY PRICEY bottle has lasted me almost 6 months now, so it has the range.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
optional extras depending on how much junk food I’ve been eating:
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch – if you have a spot that needs poppin these are gonna save your whole life - pop, put one of these hydrocolloid bad boys on it, go to bed, wake up healed
Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser – I like using this with freezing cold water when I’m hungover and want to punish myself but also look beautiful and not greasy
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask – I use it with apple cider vinegar. it smells so weird and it’s a hassle to make up and apply but it’s THE BEST clay mask out there! and I say that with the authority of someone who tried GlamGlow Supermud and had an allergic reaction
Swiss Kriss herbal laxative flakes – listen. LISTEN. tablespoon of this HERBAL LAXATIVE + a bowl of boiling water + your head and the bowl in a towel tent hot box = clear, bouncy, refreshed skin. it’s everything. I’m sorry you have to buy laxatives to make that happen but it is what it is
there you have it. I always feel like I have Too Much, but then I read an Into the Gloss Top Shelf and I’m like lol. IF you fancy trying some Glossier but think it’s a bit spenny, use this link to get 10% off!
I would also like to say for the record that Pond’s Cold Cream is an institution and a classic and I have a pot of it to hand at all times JUST IN CASE I do shit like this to my face and don’t have the energy to painstakingly take it off with 50000 cotton pads

what is your opinion on Glam Glow products? specifically the Good In Bed Passionfruit Softening Night Cream? Sephora has it as a reward for points and I was considering getting it, but I know nothing about it or the brand. TIA! 💕
i’m a bit meh about glamglow, because historically speaking their face masks, which are their star products, have been very gimmicky. i mean, glitter masks? what’s the objective here other than a one-time cool instagram selfie and then microplastics being released into the environment for no reason? their mud masks are wildly overpriced for no reason, too. truly, most of their stuff is made to look good on a selfie and that’s it. it’s also not a secret that i’m not huge on face masks as a means to obtain real results, since i think using serums and toners and the like consistently is both more efficient and cost-effective, so a brand mainly known for expensive face masks isn’t my deal at all.
i confess i haven’t looked much into their other skincare products, but the good in bed night cream specifically has a decent enough ingredient list. i wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive skin, and i think it’s also wildly overpriced for what it is, but using a sephora reward for it might be the best way to try if you’re curious — just be aware that there are cheaper options out there that do much the same thing, if you ever feel tempted to actually purchase it with your own cash.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment
Tumblr media
Price: $25 / $59 / $82
Claims: SUPERMUD is our most advanced clearing treatment and #1 best-selling mud mask. Fights problem skin and skin imperfections with a blend of six acids, activated-x charcoal, and K-17 clay. The SUPER 6 Acid Blend helps loosen dead skin cells to exfoliate and sweep them away, leaving fresh, smooth skin behind.
Visibly, instantly clears the complexion. All you need is a thin layer.
We love it for:
Pores
Oiliness
Blemishes
Problem Skin
Key Benefits:
CLEARING. Visibly, instantly clears the complexion
CLARIFYING. Targets clogged pores, excess oil, and dead skin cells
PORE REFINING. Toxins and dirt are removed from the deep within the pores
This product tingles to let you know it is working. Skin may appear flushed for a short time. This is normal!
Ingredients:
Water: Primarily used as a solvent in cosmetics and personal care products in which it dissolves many of the ingredients that impart skin benefits, such as conditioning agents and cleansing agents. Water also forms emulsions in which the oil and water components of the product are combined to form creams and lotions.
Kaolin: A fine white clay powder; used to absorb water and oil secreted by the skin, including excess sebum.
Magnesium Aluminum Silicate: A naturally occurring mineral derived from refined and purified clay that is used primarily as a thickener in cosmetics and beauty products. It is naturally of a flaky, white consistency and is used most often as a filler. It is also important to note that Magnesium Aluminum Silicate has unusually large molecules; because of these large molecules, it is unable to be absorbed into the skin.
Mandelic Acid: A type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), also known as amygdalic acid. An effective exfoliant, more tolerable for those with sensitive skin. Is also light-sensitive and must be packaged in an opaque container to remain effective.
Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf: Derived from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree; used for its cooling, refreshing, aromatic properties. Provides natural anti-bacteria and antioxidant protection.
Tartaric Acid: A naturally-occurring crystalline organic acid found in many plants, including grapes and tamarinds. It is one of the chief acids in wine. Tartaric acid has antioxidant properties and is an alpha hydroxy acid.
Lactic Acid: Helps to control the pH of finished cosmetic products
Salicylic Acid: Also called beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Its primary benefit is as an exfoliant, helping shed dead skin in a way similar to how skin acts when we are younger. Because it has the ability to penetrate into the pore lining and exfoliate inside the pore as well as on the surface of skin, it is especially effective for reducing breakouts, including blackheads and whiteheads. In addition to these benefits, salicylic acid also has soothing properties to calm aggravated skin, can help minimize the appearance of an uneven skin tone, and has hydrating abilities that can result in smoother skin.
Glycolic Acid: An alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) used to help maintain natural pH levels and gently exfoliate surface skin cells.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice: Extracted from the leaves of the aloe plant; used as a skin softener, anti-irritant, and moisture replenisher.
Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract: Used as a whitener, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and moisturizer. Helps control oil production, and helps calm and soothe acne-prone skin. It can be used to reduce dark age spots and whiten skin.
Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract: Extracted from the pulp of a cucumber; used for its soothing and moisture binding properties.
Hedera Helix (Ivy) Extract: Plant extract that can be sensitizing due to its astringent properties. Despite this, there’s no research demonstrating that tiny amounts of ivy extract applied via skincare products are harmful; however, there also is no reliable information on ivy’s benefits when applied to skin.
Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract: Topical application of comfrey has skin-soothing properties, but it is recommended only for short-term use and only then if you can be sure the amount of pyrrolizidine alkaloids is less than 100 micrograms per application. The alkaloid content means it has the potential to aggravate skin.
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract: The extract from the flowers of the plant; has calming and soothing properties.
Peg-12 Dimethicone: A silicone-based polymer used to give formulas a smooth feel, promote spreadability, and add lubrication.
Caprylyl Glycol: Skin and hair conditioning agent that may be plant-derived or synthetic. Often used as part of a preservative blend in cosmetics.
Sodium Hydroxide: An inorganic compound used to control the pH levels or serve as a buffering agent. Has the ability to dissolve grease, oils, fats and protein based deposits. Considered a strong irritant.
Butylene Glycol: Commonly-used ingredient that has multiple functions in cosmetics, including as a texture enhancer. It’s similar to propylene glycol, but has a lighter texture.

My Thoughts: Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment is pretty amazing. It comes in a sample size squeeze tube. I love that I can buy it in 3 different sizes. I was given a sample size from my sister in law. Its a white squeeze tube with sliver lettering. The only drawback with the packaging is that towards the end of its life it was hard to squeeze the product out. I finally cut it open to use the rest of it and I found there was still a lot of product left that should have been able to squeeze out.
Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment when wet its a charcoal grey color with a mud texture. I apply with a brush and put a good even thin layer on. It does have a nice cooling sensation with  eucalyptus and mint scent. I leave it on until it hardens which is about 10 minuties. I can tell when its harden not only by feel, but the look since the mask turns a light grey and around my pores these tiny dots start to form.
Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment is easy to remove with water, the mud doesn’t stick to my skin it just slides right off. If I put a thick layer on it is harder to wash off. My face immediately feels clean and fresh. It pulls all the gunk and oil from my pores on the first use.
Would I purchase Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment? I am still on the fence, if I did it would be at the lowest price point one they have. The only reason I am on the fence is my sister in law uses a similar mask already (thats why she gave me Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment in the first place). She uses a mixture of the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay with Apple Cider Vinegar which is a lot cheaper and works just as great as Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment.
Pros:
Comes in 3 different sizes
Sample size
White squeeze tube with sliver lettering
Charcoal grey when wet
Mud texture
Apply thin layer
Cooling sensation
Eucalyptus & mint scent
Hardens changes color to light grey & creates tiny dots around pores
Easy to remove with water
Left with a fresh & clean face
Removes gunk & oil
Cons:
Still a lot of product left when I cut it open
Thick layer can be harder to wash off
Expensive

Morning all! Still painful but a bit better today, hopefully it lasts a bit as I am heading out to spend some time with fam, it'll be good to get out to do something other than doctors and errands. Not that I'm complaining, it does get me out, I'm not the best at social stuff when all it said and done admittedly. . Day 20: Pamper Sunday, even if I am not just staying and relaxing at home, you bet I am enjoying a relaxing pamper day with a nice mask.. I don't even plan to where makeup out, mostly because I wanna give my skin the day to breath with such a big theme month. Its not liking me right now. . Today's is some @kmartau Under Eye Cucumber patches, with some @glamglow Waterburst for the rest of my skin to drink up! . #bootifulchallenge #aintitbootiful #monthlychallenge #mentalhealthwarrior #everydayfocus #keepmegoing #makeup #makeuplover #makeupobsessed #makeupjunkie #alwayskeepfighting #pampersunday #kmartau #glamglow https://www.instagram.com/p/B30VWU3ppW_/?igshid=1t5degydf0gnb

i love this question!
i use the youth to the people superfood cleanser in the morning, tone with glamglows exfoliating supertoner (it’s amazing!) then i usually just apply my daily spf which is currently the krave beauty the beet shield. at night i’m lazy and just use the bliss beauty makeup wipes which i love, them usually the same yttp cleanser i use in the morning. i also use the glamglow toner again or something calmer like the boscia balancing facial tonic. i’ve been lazy lately and haven’t used any serums besides the ordinary’s hyalouronic acid and also haven’t masked much. lastly i use a benzoyl peroxide + adapalene combo gel and then i use yttp’s adaptogen moisturizer which i love!!!!! it’s prob the best moisturizer i’ve ever used

Gamers will appreciate this.
My husband has been wanting the PS4 Spiderman game since it came out. In fact, it was one of the reasons we even decided to get a PS4. Time has etched by and we keep buying other games that we’ll enjoy together instead of Spiderman. I know he wants it because he make a comment every time we go to the store and see it. Not like a mean one, just mentioning oh right, I forgot I wanted that!
Honestly we weren’t going to even get each other anything this year because he hates this holiday (but I love it because I’m a SUCKER) and we had a little extra money in the bank account so...I bought him Spiderman for Valentine’s Day.
But it gets better! I got off work at 12 (I only work part-time so I have shorter shifts) and he didn’t get off work until 5. So while he was at work I installed the game and downloaded four hours worth of updates so it would be ready to play when he got home.
He walked in and I told him to look in the bedroom (where our ps4 is) and his eyes just lit up when he saw the Spiderman title screen. It’s the happiest I’ve seen him in a while honestly because he was so genuinely surprised and absolutely loved it.
Then he felt bad because he hadn’t gotten me anything so I told him just to buy me an equally expensive Glamglow Supermud Mask and we’ll call it a holiday.
Now tonight I’m making dinner for him, Cajun chicken alfredo (new recipe! Fingers crossed!) and after we eat he’ll probably play Spiderman and I’ll really fanfiction and it’ll be the best Valentine’s Day yet.
This is our first VDay as a married couple so I wanted to make it special. Suffice to say that I did.
