Without protein you wouldn’t be here reading this caption. But as with everything you can have too much of a good thing. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 🍏 If you are not particularly active and are simply interested in general health and well-being then there is little need to follow a high protein diet. A daily intake of 1g - 1.2g of protein per kilogram of bodyweight is plenty. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 💪 If you are training hard and regularly breaking down muscle tissue your protein requirements will be higher. All do the research shows that a daily intake of 1.4g - 1.6g is optimal for muscle growth, providing you are also consuming a surplus of total calories. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 🥗 If you are in a caloric deficit and looking to preserve muscle mass you may need to go as high as 1.8g per kilo of bodyweight per day, but there is absolutely no need to consume any more than that. Any extra protein that cannot be absorbed will simply be converted into glucose, so you may as well consume those extra calories from carbohydrates instead. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ❌ Simply eating MORE protein doesn’t always mean MORE muscle. Despite what most supplement companies want you to believe, protein is not magic and you do not need to consume hundreds of grams each day to get results. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ P.S: along with your total intake of protein you should also prioritize a variety of protein too.
