Working on masks between other projects. Cooking, homeschooling and knitting are on my main ToDo list but I have to include washing, ironing, making bias binding (tons of it) and sewing too. Not to mention taking pictures, editing pictures, writing descriptions, tending after my shops, answering questions about items. This is my daily routine. Bias binding. I have had mixed experiences with bias bindings, prefering facing unless it's really neccessary. A while back I bought a bias binding foot for my machine thinking this would solve the problem, but I think this actually ended up putting me off using it. It was very fiddly and didn't always attach it properly, then I'd have to get the Seam ripper out and sew it on again. Very annoying. For this project, you can see a glimpse in the picture above, it has black mesh and I wanted the top part to be see through, so no chance of facings. I found the best way to apply bias binding is to go back to basics. Sew it all the way round open on the inside, then turn over and sew on the outside (the part you can see last). This method is much better and neater and you have much more control. Will not be using the bias binding foot again! On the other hand I will be using my little bias binding making tool. Great for making your own bias binding from any fabric you like. Whoops! i blew it. I cut off sleeves and made them into bias strips for armhole and neck binding. It was my first time trying a continuous strip from a tube. The first sleeve went great. Then... here I made the two seams in different directions. I didn’t notice until I had cut the strips! Now I get to rip every other seam and re-sew them properly... and then proceed. For the record, the neck binding went great.
