Today at work our order was delivered. By the time it was delivered I was the only one there which is fine, I've done it before. But before she left my boss said, "You've got it all, right? Except for the fruit. Get Daniel to life the heavy fruit for you."

And I was immediately possessed by an elementary school girl who just heard her teacher say, "I need some strong boys to help me life these chairs."

I lifted all of that fucking fruit by myself.

#at every job ive had my strength has been underestimated #and ive been told to let a male coworker handle it #'are you sure you want the cart puching shift? thats normally the shift that the guys do'#'are you sure you can lift this? (the item in question was five pounds)'#'let the guys put away the order so you dont have to try and lift the heavy stuff'#at my first job (grocery bagged) an old woman asked me to get her three 25 pound bags of birdseed #birdseed was far away from the register and indidnt want to have to carry 75 pounds from one side of the store to the other #so i was about to grab a cart until the cashier said 'austyn you should probably get a cart for that'#then i was determined not to #so i carried 75 fucking pounds of birdseed in my arms. from one side of the store to the other. without stopping #stubborn? yes. stupid? a little. but im stronger than i look #and i dont like when people immediately tell me to get a man to do something #i lifted that fruit with ease btw. i didnt struggle. not once did i consider asking anyone for help
