CHARLES F. BERGER (PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, 1810-1892) MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF RUTH BISPHAM FENIMORE (BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY, 1779-1846), watercolor, likely of Ruth Bispham Fenimore, the bust-length depiction of a middle-aged sitter, wearing a bonnet and a shawl over her black dress, set against a rich green background. Below the portrait a black border accented with white reads, "MY MOTHER", and surrounds two small clippings with the Lord's prayer written out in miniscule script, the center of the example written in circular form reads "Ruth / Bispham / her wrighting [sic] / 1800". Signed verso with inscription reading "Chas. F. Berger / Portrait & Miniature / Painter / Sept. [?] 1846. Phila". Housed in a period, possibly original, 19th century gilt molded frame. Dated 1846.

SWFWMD Board Officers Elected for 2024-2025 Term

The Southwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board voted Tuesday to elect officers for the 2024-2025 term.  Michelle Williamson was elected chair of the Governing Board. Williamson represents Hillsborough County and is the operations manager of G&F Farms. Williamson was appointed to the Governing Board in August 2016 and reappointed in December 2020.  John Mitten Elected SWFWMD Governing Board Vice Chair John Mitten was elected vice chair of the Governing Board. Mitten represents Hernando and Marion counties and is the franchise owner of Chick-fil-A in Spring Hill. Mitten was appointed to the Governing Board in October 2020.  Jack Bispham was elected secretary of the Governing Board. Bispham represents Manatee County and is the owner and operator of Red Bluff Plantation. Bispham was appointed to the Governing Board in November 2019 and was reappointed in May 2021. Ashley Bell Barnett was elected treasurer of the Governing Board. Bell Barnett represents Polk County and is a former educator and community advocate. Bell Barnett was appointed to the Governing Board in December 2020 and was reappointed in August 2023. The officers will assume their positions for the 2024-2025 term 24 hours before the June Governing Board meeting. SWFWMD Governing Board members are unpaid, citizen volunteers who are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate. The Governing Board sets policy for the District, whose mission is to protect water resources, minimize flood risks, and ensure the public’s water needs are met. Read the full article

A magical lighting spectacle will be interspersed with a spectacular burst of fireworks at the top of the Tower, followed by a Jubilee light show to round off the remarkable occasion.

Heritage Tram Parade 2 June | Pleasure Beach to Tower Festival Headland

The parade of historic trams will start from Pleasure Beach in the afternoon. While travelling along the promenade, it will arrive at the Tower Festival Headland. The trams will then drive to Little Bispham and turn around back to Pleasure Beach. Some lucky people might even win a chance to be part of the heritage tram parade.

Don’t be late or you will miss the parade.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Jubilation Celebration 2 – 5 June | Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Enjoy the patriotic theme across the park and join the rest of the country in celebrating The Platinum Jubilee. Take a seat at the park’s street party seating and watch the Jubilation Stage where you can expect all sorts of entertainment.
