Northern Disco Lights - The Rise and Rise of Norwegian Dance Music | Paper Vision Films | 2017 Northern Disco Lights tells the untold story of a group of teenagers in the arctic city of Tromsø, who set off a chain of events that would go on to transform their country. To escape the boredom of growing up in a remote outpost they created their own music scene, setting up radio stations, parties, building synthesizers and making tunes. Word spread as like-minded souls recognised the call to arms and inspired a generation of kids who would go on to change dance music and Norway forever. People often talk about how good French touch was but I always go north-east and think Norway made alot of the best house music.

Tarantismo : Odyssey of an Italian ritual” is a tribute to Pizzica, an antique music used to heal people suffering from a mysterious disease. This release represents a contemporary attempt to reflect on this extraordinary phenomenon involving frenetic rhythms and maniac dancing, through a trans-disciplinary and ambitious artistic approach. This double LP features five original recordings from the early discoveries of the genre and six unique reworks by Bjorn Torske & Trym Søvdsnes, LNS, Uffe, Don’t DJ, Bottin and KMRU. Associated to it is a bilingual (Italian/English) hardcover book featuring nine original contributions by contributors such as Chiara Samugheo, Edoardo Winspeare, Luigi Chiriatti, Don Antonio Santoro, Claudia Atimonelli or Pamela Diamante.

FLEE is a cultural engineering platform dedicated to the documentation and enhancement of hybrid cultures. Moonside - Here We Go

Here we go is a track I wrote in early June 2019, the track was inspired by Bjorn Torske's recent release 'Byen' the album which has a somber but uplifting feel throughout. The tracks in 'Byen' are all quite drifting and driving at the same time which what aimed for when writing 'Here We Go'.

To compose I used varied bass lines from the Roland T303, String and Pad sound from the JX3P, midi samples with delay and reverb automation and recorded Vocal takes from a friend.

The dynamics and structure came mostly towards the end of writing, and the vocals were the last thing added to the track to really lift the track but remain somber because of what the lyrics say.

I was surprised when I got the end of making this track that I'd grown to love it! The T303 is a classic acid house sound, everyone I played it to would ask me about the bassline and how I made it, so I think that's my favorite part about the track. 

​

The one thing I'm not that happy with is the mixing simply because I used a drum machine that I couldn't separate the individual tracks with so mixing the drums was quite hard and had limitations, if I was to do it again, I'd use my drum rack so I can mix the drums in a more creative way.  But in saying that it was a good way to make something quite quickly and be lock into that sound.
