Hello, Anon!!! I'm sorry you are feeling like that! But, srly, don't blame yourself for expecting more! Tbh, it was indeed a moment we were all hoping to be depicted better.

So let me tell you what happened with me today: I was in a private streaming session with some fellow LHs of my country when the anime aired midnight in Japan, and it came out as a shock at first just HOW FAST LH went on!! We complained A LOT lol And I was kinda VERY ANGRY because LH appeared for only 3 minutes, ngl... I WAS SO PISSED OOOOOOFFFFFFFFF I BLINKED AND THEIR PART WAS OVER - LIKE- WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??! BUT then... After rewatching it - and ignoring the damned lightning speed of their moment - I think we can see how mappa didn't mistreat LH the way the pace unfortunately seems to do. I mean - The way they drew Levi, and Hanji? Their eyes? Their touches? The VAs voices? The sad yet soft tones of the ost? The "ifkk" ending with Hanji whispering "neh, Levi?" in a question-like way? I think that was REALLY so suitable for their moment together alone! You see, MAPPA even took out Levi's flashback of Zeke killing himself - and it makes it seem so much more like this moment is about Levi thinking about Hanji, and what is left if they both don't do anything! Also, they cutting out the blush from Hanji's face might have been actually a wise choice for this could have backfired horrible in the way people would slander Hanji's role as a commander - anime onlies are mostly men, I think, and they would probably badmouth our Commander Hanji to no end because of a simple flustered expression with Levi. Hanji didn't deserve more slandering than she already gets bc Eren's supporters are really mean in Western side. (And don't let me even start with the gender wars escalating both because of ships and bc of a "adult military Commander is blushing")... The way Hanji and Levi looked at each other during those seconds were so nicely done, imo!!! We could feel Hanji embarrassed for being caught making the proposal even if there wasn't a blush! They looked more mature like that too haha (not that adults don't blush, but you get what I mean I hope!!) And, I'm sorry if you were some of the ones expecting the forest idea to be super romantic and all, but that wasn't my expectation as I'd said before how the forest was more like a cage, so I have no complains about the ambience (if there is anything...). Still, this by no means that Levi rejected Hanji, or whatever. They just look so close in the anime <3 And idk if you noticed the way MAPPA put Levi "awake" listening to Hanji's talk and "asking" him to IFKK or "to throw it all away and just survive" (as Hanji later puts it in chapter 127) and Levi just doesn't give away a single sign he IS LISTENING; because, you know, Levi could have just let it slide because Hanji checked on him TWICE (making sure he was NOT listening/awake), or he could have took action before Eren invaded their minds to scream The Rumbling BUT LEVI CHOSE TO STAY SILENT. Like, despite it probably being the result of too little screen time to make like in the manga (lol) this became such a nice touch imo!! AND GOSH, the way several official translations are all interpreting Hanji's ifkk with the proposal tone? THIS IS SO GOLD <3 I was discussing the episode with one of my beloved mutuals, and I would give a 7/10 to this LH moment in the anime: -1 because of the horrible pacing (that really is UNFORGIVABLE and it's worth -1000000000; -1 for lack of a recognizable ost (I want to know WHICH ONE IT IS - HELP); -1 for not being more like the manga regarding Levi's body (WHERE IS MY WELL MUSCULAR AND DEFINED SEXY BACK AND BUTT CRACK hahaha) I said this all because i think many details are being missed, BUT you are free to feel how you feel!! Hate it, scream about it, tell mappa is really shit for giving LH barely 5min screen time - it is ALL VALID~!!!

Just, ugh, don't forget that the truth is also that snk was never a romantic anime to fit the "standard' or "common" (?) patterns of love we usually see in other animes. (And tbh, i'm also glad they didn't animated Annie's blush in this chapter too bc it's still weird seeing she blushing so easily LOL). Sorry if i digressed and I didn't help tho!
