You're a cat — Part 3
<- Previous | Next ->
"Meow."
"Shoo! Go away!"
Uraume frowned. Somehow you had ended up in the kitchen. A sacred place that only they and Sukuna had the permission to enter but you had simply waltz in like you owned the place and were now sitting on one of the selves in a loaf position with your eyes closed.
"You are lucky that Master Sukuna favors you, cat. If you were another, he would have eaten you by now. Do not assume that the lord is unfamiliar with cat meat." Uraume warned.
You yawned and opened your eyes to stare at them.
You were testing Uraume's patience because the next thing you did was sit up and nudge the small bowl next to you off the ledge with your tiny paw.
"No—"
Crash!
You stared at the broken bowl curiously before resuming your usual loaf position again.
Uraume, on the other hand, glared at you. They were about to chuck you outside when Sukuna walked in.
"Uraume."
Uraume bowed quickly. "Master Sukuna. Forgive me if you were disturbed—"
"It's fine. I was simply passing by." Sukuna dismissed with a wave of his hand. "Prepare the meat for me, I'm starving."
You suddenly jumped down and went over to rub yourself against his leg, purring loudly.
"Mrew!!"
"Oh. It's you, Brat."
He raised his eyebrow when you started tugging at the hem of his hakama pants with your sharp teeth.
Then you suddenly pulled away and ran towards the parted shoji screen leading to the garden. You stopped and turned back, your tail swishing back and forth.
"Meow!!"
"I believe... The cat wants you to follow it, Master Sukuna." Uraume suggested.
Sukuna crossed his arms, a glint of amusement in his eyes. "That so? Quite a brave thing to command me like this." He smirked at you who were patiently waiting for Sukuna, your eyes following his every movement.
He chuckled. "Fine, I'll entertain you. You're lucky I'm bored and in a good mood. Lead the way." He said, walking over to you. Your ears perked up and you ran off into the garden with Sukuna strolling behind you.
You ran until finally he saw you crawling into a bush. Sukuna frowned when he heard tiny, little noises coming from where you were.
And then suddenly you came back, holding a kitten by the scruff of its neck. You gently placed it in front of Sukuna and looked up at him.
The King of Curses snorted. "You brought me all this way here to show me your weak, little spawn?"
You looked back down at your kitten and gently nudged it.
When the kitten looked up, that's when Sukuna got a good look at it.
It was deformed. Two faces on that fragile, little body. The cat had three eyes, two noses and two mouths. It looked up at him while weakly wobbling on its small, little legs.
"Meow."
The soft, weak meow came from one of its mouth while the other remained shut. You gently nuzzled your kitten, before giving it a lick on the head.
You looked back at Sukuna, tilting your head as you watched him silently bend down. He scooped up the kitten in one of his large hands while picking you up with the other.
You purred softly, licking his hand as he carried the both of you back inside.
"Uraume." He called out when he spotted them in the kitchen busy preparing his food. "Bring an extra blanket to my room as well."
Uraume was confused at the command but then noticed you and the tiny, little deformed kitten curled up in his hands.
They didn't question him and merely bowed.
"As you wish."

Happy Thursday!
Wanted to post this sketch of Fearne's redesign! I'm planning to do it with every BH member and then post the finished illustrations, but so far I'm still at the designing stage and I reeeally loved this Fearne's final sketch. Plus I wanted to share my vision before we see the official art of their titan forms (I really hope we'll get them!)
#I also did Ashton but I'm still not 100 percent satisfied with the result and I may change it later#Let's hope I finish this before they change their outfits again! Or else I will cry! And there will be no one else to blame but me!#Happy Thursday everybody...#bells hells#cr3#critical role#critical role sketches#art#sketches#fearne calloway

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN | 1.09
You couldn't call me?
#Daredevil Born Again#Karedevil#Karen Page#Matt Murdock#ddba spoilers#Daredeviledit#Daredevil Spoilers#Not Revolution#GIF set#Mine#Shippers gonna ship#I find it really hard to express why I like this so much and yet STILL want Kastle#It's something about how Matt relaxes around her#He's so guarded 99% of the time. And he pushed her away HARD many MANY times over the years for whatever BS reason he could think of#and they've finally gotten to a place (and it's a year later than would have been better for everyone) where this is permanent.#This is safe. This is home. They're stuck with each other.#And I love the contrast between Matt anxiously trying to convince Kristen and his gf that there's a threat and he has to go DO STUFF and#how different the reaction is when he says the same things (albeit with more detail) to Frank and Karen. It's night and day.#He's only a real person with people who know his secret identity.#There's something delicious about a phone call being where Matt's stuck. As if he doesn't have a history of dodging her calls. And I get#that he would have welcomed calls now - or in the last year - but there are so many scenes were poor karen is just getting shutdown by Matt#and Foggy. Calls unanswered or ended quickly. Because they have other stuff going on and lying to her is hard so it's easier not to pick up#And then you have Frank who is like... a fugitive? A hermit basically. Someone off the grid. Living in a basement. Who has an active cell#plan and has made sure Karen has his number in case she needs it. And he clearly answers when she rings. And there's no one else ringing.#So it's basically a phone - maybe specifically so Karen can reach out.#AND I LOVE THE FRAMING OF THIS SHOT. I love how close Matt and Karen are sitting. I love that Frank is pretending to ignore them.#Coz there's no way he's okay with how close they are. But he's not going to make it weird because he's a good friend to Karen.#Maybe I should blame Karen for me shipping every ship that involves Karen.

Friend was talking to her student about our upcoming ttrpg game where we were going to do a murder mystery. The student, who was used to playing D&D asked how she planned to soft railroad us into contributing to the mystery instead of going off and doing something else and she had a hard time understanding that we all got together and agreed upon the social contract of "we want to do a murder mystery and will abide by the fictional and in-character limitations of the scenario"
#I'll be fair and not blame this one on D&D and more on the cultural osmosis culture of ttrpg play that's spawned around it#Somehow people are afraid of asking their players to agree to limitations for a fun time#Like somehow the only rules you can apply are from the book and everything else is sacrilege#Or treating your players like rabid beasts who will knock over your narrative if not properly entertained with jangling keys

Every day I’m haunted by the fact the boys happily swim in sewer water
Even if it’s filtered somehow there’s no way it’s not still nasty 😭 Bet they can defeat any of their villains just by accidentally giving them diseases I swear
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#bless their hearts but they’re nasty#it’s funny because like#each and every one of them has moments#where they’re a typical disgusting teenage boy#and then the next they have STANDARDS#can’t blame Leo for being so determined to go to a spa#even if he nearly licked his own foot that’s prob cleaner than anything else the boys have been up to in years 💀#thank you shelldon for all your hard work cleaning after then 🙏#they’re all gross teenage boys!!!#even Donnie he is NO exception here#bro was DRINKING A BEVERAGE while wading through sewer water he is just as gross as his bros#bro also talks with his mouth full he is no more refined than his equally gross bros fr and I love it#but yeah no way that water isn’t disgusting even filtering it would still leave grime on the walls of the sewer for yearsss#pros of them moving into an abandoned subway system is fixing their sense of smell enough to not be as gross#100% that’s part of why they didn’t mind being so filthy pre shelldon#because I mean they were literally raised in the sewers and they’re teenage boys like that’s a double whammy#THEY ALSO DONT WEAR SHOES#the few times any of them do the shoes are discarded before heading home 💀#I love them tho they are endearing anyhow#April’s immune system must be godlike just being around them fr#honestly no joke Mikey’s probably the cleanest of them all#just by virtue of being a chef#Leo I see as a mixture since he no doubt loves to pamper himself so he’s clean like#a percentage of time before he goes out and ruins his own hard work#Donnie is similar in that he’s just VERY SELECTIVE about what he thinks is too gross#Raph may be more on the stinky end but it’s not his fault he has his stinks and eats things of dubious origin(esp since his bros ate poison)#Donnie and Leo really have the gall to be sick about Raph eating the origami salami but they have no room to talk#all their villains are prob like please stay away from us we have salmonella now

The boy with the demon blood is always watching him.
His gaze had been alternatingly reverent and despondent before Lucifer’s rise. After, it’s cold, appraising, and only when Dean isn’t looking. It reminds Castiel of the few times that Michael has set his eyes on him and it makes the place on the back of his back itch where his wings would be. Lucifer’s vessel should not remind him of Michael. It’s not right.
They’re sitting in a diner, a cup of coffee in front of him that he has no intention of drinking, Dean is in the bathroom, and Sam is staring at him again, lip pulled back just enough that Castiel can’t tell if it’s a grimace or a snarl. He is not well versed in humanity, but he wishes for this to stop. It’s distracting. “What is your problem?”
“You,” Sam says bluntly, which Castiel had not expected. “I don’t trust you.”
“Because your judgement in this area is without reproach,” he says, surprising himself. It’s just that Dean is predictable. Understandable. Sam is not. It’s frustrating.
That look on his face is almost a smile. “Exactly. I trusted you in the beginning. You’re an angel, a being of good, who brought my brother back to life. Why wouldn’t I?” He shakes his head, a faint look of disgust on his face that Castiel is used to seeing there.
He thought Sam’s self recrimination was wholly centered on his role in releasing Lucifer. He does not know what to do with the realization that some of it is directed towards him. “I am still all those things.”
“No,” Sam says. “You’re the good soldier who left my brother to rot. I tried to save him and couldn’t. I nearly destroyed myself doing it. You could have saved him and didn’t. You could have prevented all of this if you’d pulled him out before he broke the first seal. But you didn’t, and then you left him there for another ten years, letting Alistair sink his claws into him.” He leans forward. “My brother was only useful to you broken. I’m not going to forget that again.”
Anger rushes through him. Dean is often frustrating. Sam is infuriating. “I was following orders.”
He realizes too late that he’s only confirming Sam’s assertions. To his credit, he doesn’t appear at all satisfied with the admission. “That’s why you and Dean get along, you know. Two good little soldiers in a pod that rebelled too late and are suffering the consequences.”
Sam has not spoken of Dean like this, has not been anything but accommodating and sorrowful to his elder brother since killing Lilith. His description of their actions sounds too much like Lucifer for Castiel’s comfort. They’re nothing like him. It is Sam who is the devil’s foil. “What are you, then?”
“An idiot,” he says. “You and Ruby are the same, manipulating us both to start this stupid apocalypse. I know you let me out of the panic room, Castiel.”
He goes very still. There are several defenses available to him, but all only confirm Sam’s assertion that he’s a good little soldier that rebelled too late, that he was as Ruby. Perhaps this is where so much of Dean’s frustrations around his brother come from. He is not right, but it is difficult to find the words to prove him wrong.
“If you were going to try and deny it, that would have been the time to do it,” he says dryly. “If you hadn’t, the apocalypse would have been averted. I can’t kill Lilith if I’m dead and even if one of you had done it, it still wouldn’t matter. Lucifer can’t puppet a corpse. Over before it begins.”
Castiel means to choose his next words carefully. Instead, he says, “You have not told Dean.”
Sam shrugs, looking at the window, his eyes tightening in pain. “He needs something – someone – to hold onto right now. It can’t be me, so it’s you. But I’m watching you, Cas. Manipulate my brother again, and I’m not going to care how useful you are in averting the apocalypse or what it’ll do to Dean to lose faith again.”
“Why can it not be you?”
He looks over at him, startled. It’s nice to be able to be the one to put him off balance for once. “What?”
“Why can Dean not hold on to you?” he repeats. Despite every attempt from heaven and hell to prevent just that, it seems to him that Dean is holding onto his brother more tightly than ever.
Sam’s expression shuts down, but not before Castiel sees the tidal wave of grief there. “You didn’t know him before hell. You don’t know what you took from him by leaving him there.”
He’s back on uncertain territory. It’s the only kind he ever seems to be in with Sam. “Is he very different?”
Dean does not appear overly different from an outside perspective. His personality and priorities seem roughly the same as they were reported to be before hell. Traumatized, perhaps, but it’s not as if Dean is any stranger to that.
Sam laughs and Castiel flinches before he can think not to. “Our father’s words haunted him, you know. That he had to either save me or kill me. In some ways, selling his soul for me was a relief. Not only was it a complete rejection of that order, but it meant that if I did have to be killed one day, he wouldn’t be the one to do it. Not that he ever would, because people have tried to manipulate him into it before. Me included. So I guess you can take some sort of pride in it, being the one who succeeded.”
Castiel regrets starting this conversation. He thinks that Dean cannot possibly still be in the bathroom and wishes he would return. “You are not dead.”
“If you’d left me in the panic room,” Sam says. “I would be.”
That is likely true.
“It was perfect,” Sam says bitterly. “Me, strung out on withdrawal, alone and isolated and hallucinating and dying. Dean with all of his worst nightmares confirmed. Except he’s faced that before and it still didn’t end with me dead. He needed a push. He needed a way to save me or kill me that wouldn’t be his fault, his hands, that he could drink and hide from. And leaving me to detox alone in that room did that, gave him an out that he told himself he could live with.” He tilts his head, mocking and sharp, and Castiel would very much like to stop seeing Michael in Sam Winchester’s face. “But you never wanted me to actually detox. Not with Lilith still alive when I’d need years of training to be strong enough to kill her without it. You didn’t want me clean. You wanted me twisted so far around that I’d be easy to control.”
Zachariah had wanted that. Castiel hadn’t known. He was just following orders.
Dean might accept that explanation. Sam never will. He believes blindly following orders to be a weakness. It’s difficult to argue against it when he’s right. If Castiel had not followed orders he did not understand, they would not be here. But following orders is all he’s ever done.
“I should have known better,” Sam says. “That’s on me. Dean played his part too, but he’s got enough to deal with right now.”
“You intend to let him continue blaming you,” Castiel says. Dean’s mistrust and anger hurts him. It’s easy to see. Here he has the information to rid himself of it, at least partly, but he’s keeping it to himself.
His mouth twitches into something that’s almost a smile. “It’s me or him. He went to hell for forty years for me. I can spare him this.”
Castiel tries to imagine Dean’s reaction if he uncovers how close he came to Sam’s permanent death, how it was something he chose and could have prevented and did not because of actions and assurances that Castiel gave him.
Sam is an abomination. He is, also, human, and no amount of demon blood down his throat is going to change that.
“Before hell, Dean might have forced me to detox, but not alone,” Sam says softly. “He never would have left me to die alone.”
He searches for something safe to say, something to extricate himself from this conversation. What he settles on is, “You and Dean’s relationship confuses me.”
Sam laughs again. Castiel doesn’t flinch this time. “He pushes me to leave and then blames me when I do,” he says, exhaustion leaking into his words. Sam often looks tired. Castiel has never wasted time wondering precisely why. Perhaps he should have. “It never occurs to him that if he just stopped pushing, I’d stop leaving.”
A self fulfilling prophecy. The apocalypse was supposed to be like that, except that in the end heaven and hell had needed quite a lot of work to get it started. Destiny isn’t as easy as Castiel had been told it would be. “Why are you telling me this?”
It’s that cold, assessing glance again. Comparatively, it’s almost comforting now. It’s better than the grief. It must be exhausting, mourning a man who’s right in front of him. “So you know to watch yourself, Cas. I’m looking properly now. And I see you for exactly who you are.”
It’s not an idle threat, not from Lucifer’s vessel, not from the man who killed Lilith, but there’s a shiver down his spine that’s not quite fear. He’s a low ranking angel, all things considered. Like a god on earth, but celestially insignificant. He is to take orders, to follow his father’s will and his brothers’ guidance and never stray from this well trodden path.
No one has ever seen him before.
#supernatural#everyone blame nightalp for this#you know in hindsight it's no wonder i never find any sastiel fics i like#this is the beginning of an EPIC ROMANCE#to me#and probably no one else#everyone blaming sam for something that was so clearly a group effort and sam just taking it no question was so weirdly ooc#it makes s5 almost unwatchable#remember when anna was supposed to stick around and parallel ruby#just to make sam and dean being equally played by heaven and hell really really obvious#and instead they gave her storyline to cas and did not do that for some reason#yeah#bad move

hmmm. thinking about how veilguard seems to subscribe more to the more traditional "video game as personal power fulfillment fantasy of heroism" than any other dragon age game, except perhaps origins, though origins does it more artfully.
#da2 certainly is not a power fulfillment fantasy#and inquisition seems like it could be on the surface#but under that surface is the horror of how power corrupts#and rots you from the inside and steals everything from you even yourself#maybe thats not true for a trevelyan#but inquisition at least has the opportunity to be played as either#depending on how the world treats your character as someone they are comfortable with having power#or not#which is a commentary in itself#origins idk#it has never stuck with me the way the other 2 games did so someone else will have to do that analysis#but veilguard is sooooooo hero fantasy fulfillment in comparison#you win in the end#nothing bad ever really happens to you at all#you tell everyone what to do and they listen and love you for it#no one blames you for anything ever#you are always right#you save the day!#compare that to leandra telling hawke their baby brother/sisters gruesome death is their fault#like JHERGJKHERGKJHREG#anyway its not necessarily a bad thing#but its a very... traditional#video game narrative path#that i dont think most of us were expecting or interested in#from a franchise who has deconstructed such things in the past#veilguard critical#mine

no cause i think one of the reasons any life series ship with grian is automatically so ironically stingingly tragic is that it's /his game/.
like putting aside the watchers for a second, grian created the life series. this is /his/ death game, his circus his monkeys. sure, when the person closest to him inevitably dies some gruesome death at his own hands, the pain in his chest still makes him want to jump off a cliff, run face first into a warden, fall a couple hundred blocks and splat, but...
it's still. /his game/.
when other players lose their teammate, it's tragic for them because their friend got ripped from them in an instant and there's nothing they can do. when grian loses someone close to him, it's all /his fault./ he made this game, he wrote the code, he said "if this then that if player gets ripped to shreds in a cactus pit, falls off a bridge in the sky, blows up in our own tower, then they die".
he just. never thinks he's gonna be the one to do it.
he knows it's just a game, he knows he can just hop back on hermitcraft and see his friends alive and well and not shredded splatted blown to pieces.
he just.
his game. his friends. his hands.
gets him every time.
#c's not cc's#orbviously imo#hi yes this is creative writing im not actually blaming grian for playing a game#this was written kind of from his perspective. at least at the end. a bit. if that makes any sense#also i know i said “he wrote the code” and “log on hermitcraft” let me restate#CEES NOT CEECEES#characters not content creators#i had a really hard time getting my idea into words mainly cause i forgot my first idea and had a second one halfway through#so#if it feels. idk weird#probably why#if someone else wants to make this make sense feel free#oh yeah i should probably. tag this huh#ew#sjhgsdg#grian#grian hermitcraft#hermitcraft#hermitcraft grian#hermitblr#life series#life series smp#life smp#trafficblr#traffic life#the life series#third life#life series spoilers#i mean. i fucken guess#tags tags tags

Stanford never became friends with Fiddleford.
Instead he got himself a different small friend group who cares a lot about him. At least about the Ford he pretended to be in college.
A kind, soft spoken formerly bullied genius who researches very dull stuff in Oregon and definitely not anything weird. Their Ford would never break any rules or ignore safety measures [unlike that other student they heard about during their college years.]
And then Ford stops answering their calls and loses his grant.
It’s time for an intervention and they start pestering Ford with letters and calls until he finally agrees to meet them at a science convention, but he’ll take his brother with him.
They’re relieved! Ford is with Shermie! They like Shermie! It's a good thing that Ford still has one brother who isn't a good for nothing selfish criminal who destroyed his entire future!
If they ever get their hands on Ford’s evil twin they’ll make sure he’ll regret ever messing with their friend. Ford is too nice for revenge. They aren’t.
Meanwhile at the not-yet Mystery Shack, the Stans freshly survived their own angsty canon divergent tale of two stans AU and locked Bill out of Ford's mind like a week ago.
Stan: I don’t know how long Ford will keep me around but this will be good for him. He needs some friends to take care of him after I inevitably get kicked out again!
Ford: I only agreed to this because Stan insisted and I still haven’t found a way to thank him and apologize. I hope all my “friends” die in a fire.
#gravity falls#stanley pines#stanford pines#I need Ford to be a bit off a bastard im this one. But can we blame him?#The poor guy did so much research about how to fit in with his peers before going to college and it worked too well.#He regretted it almost instantly once he realised he had to keep this up for the next couple of years.#He had to pretend to like all the popular music and movies and girls#and partying#instead of spending his weekends solving the greatest mysteries of the universe.#he constantly had to tell himself that this is what he wants. He needs to fit in and be liked if he ever wants to be recognized by his peer#Of course Fords friends have it instantly out for Stan and can you blame them? Ford looks like he hasn’t slept in weeks#hides mysterious injuries and his brother refuses to leave Fords side ven at night#[Poor Ford is just simply too scared to go to sleep without Stan protecting him]#They all come to horrifying conclusions about Stan. Poor Stan might even agree with them. Also#Ford: uses slang and bad grammar Stan: SHIT WHO DID FORD GET POSSESSED BY NOW???#Eventually an anamoly or a science experiment gone wrong happens during the convention and Ford is all over it immediately#pulls out a new journal#spouts out theories faster than anyone can keep up with and runs closer to the madness with no regard to his#or everyone elses safety Fords friends stare after him disbelieving and scared out of their minds Stan next to them sighs “Ford#amirite?#Welp better go and make sure he doesn’t get himself killed” and runs after Ford.#Eventtually in all the chaos Ford and Stan get rescued by a kind man in a giant mech dinosaur. Ford and the new guy hit it off immediately#and solve everything with just a little bit more destuction that might’ve been necessary. It was all for the sake of science.#Stan takes a long look at the robot guy. “Yep#he’ll do. Seems much more Ford’s style”#and throws him into the Stanleymobile together with Ford and escapes before the police arrive.#Ford and the new guy barely notice as they keep on talking nerd stuff. Easiest kidnapping of Stans life.#He knew coming here was a great idea. And thus the mystery trio was born.
