Fitzsimmons Quarantine AU

When the outbreak started, the Fitzsimmons household followed the rule of social distancing and stayed home to self quarantine. However, they couldn’t just sit idle. Luckily, after leaving SHIELD they decided to convert the old greenhouse and shed into an at home lab. Together, as always, Jemma and Fitz worked tirelessly to find a cure, wrapping up the night in each other’s arms, their pillow talk a mix of everyday conversation and ideas centered around helping the world get better.

Sorry this took me forever! This is for the lovely @blancasplayground for the prompt “surviving the zombie apocalypse” and FS.

Fitz carefully checked to make sure the goggles had a tight seal and tugged on a pair of gloves. A thought struck him and he turned to Jemma.

“Do we have a hazmat suit around here?”

Jemma pursed her lips and shook her head slowly. “Of course not. I’m afraid you’re just going to have to brave it.”

He loved her dearly, but she never fully appreciated what was on the line. It had been like that since the day they met.

“Simmons, I don’t think you understand. There is goo in my ear from that...that—”

Jemma tilted her head to the side and his words came to a halt.

“Oh, of course, Fitz. I have no idea how to deal with bodily fluids. But it’s not a zombie apocalypse.”

“No, it’s not.” That he could have dealt with.

“She’s your daughter, Fitz, and she’s sick. I’d clean it up myself but I have the baby to get down.”

“Yeah, no, I know.” He took a steadying breath. He could do this.

“Daddy?” A small, stuffy-sounding voice called to him. He really hated it when she was sick.

“Be right there, Maddie.” Turning to Jemma he added, “The next time a child throws up on me, you have to clean it up.”

“Deal.” She pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Now go get her cleaned up and back to bed and if we’re lucky, then both kids will be asleep before it gets too late.”

She gave him a smile as she pushed him towards Maddie’s room that reminded him he really was the luckiest man in the universe.

Why I Love It: Omg, this fic is BRILLIANT! It’s an amazing collaboration between some of my favorite authors in the fandom, so right off the bat, you know it’s going to be good! The concept is killer, with Fitz getting split into seven by an 0-8-4, each representing one of his core personality traits. Doing so gives us an excellent glimpse inside Fitz’s inner psyche. Watching Jemma interact with them and fight to put her best friend back together was wonderful. What really impressed me about this fic was how even though it was written by three different people, the narrative and tone were cohesive (unlike Fitz!). Though given how talented these writers are I shouldn’t be surprised!! Go read this fic NOW, you won’t be disappointed!

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

I was so, so, SO on board with season 5 up until 5X14. Honestly, I could have even dealt with that if the finale hadn’t been such a poorly paced train wreck. I am a noted Arrival (2016) stan and I ADORE the idea of the team trying to avoid their fate while all the while knowing such a thing is impossible. Honestly, it’s conceptually the strongest season of the show. And then it went completely off the rails. We Could Have Had It All, Truly.

“Wow. These results… they’re amazing.”

“Why thank you,” Jemma replies absent-mindedly, busy planning her other experiment.

“No, seriously. How did you get results like that?”

She turns to where Fitz is standing by the computer, scratching his head in apparent confusion as to how she could produce what she has definitely produced before.

“Are you flirting with me by any chance?”

“What?” His head snaps up, “No. Of course not. Why?”

She raises an eyebrow. “Of course not?”

It’s fun to watch him backtrack. “No, I – that’s not what-” He huffs. “Why are you asking?”

She turns back to her papers, hiding her smile. “You seem rather surprised at my ability to produce such results.”

He comes to stand behind her, arms suddenly around her waist. His voice is warm in her ear.

“Not surprised,” he whispers. “Just amazed. Like I am at everything you do.”

She reaches to give him a quick kiss on the cheek for his soppiness then bids him to leave her – she has work to do after all.

He’s almost at the door before he stops and calls back – “For your information, Jemma, I don’t really think I have to flirt anymore: you’re my wife.”

I’ll go with Agents of SHIELD for this since I see we have that in common! I am not sure if any of my AoS faves are actually unpopular though... I really loved Hunter and Bobbi, but they’re still fan faves, even if they aren’t remembered by the show all that much. But I don’t know, maybe I’m too basic for this, because everyone I can think of who might qualify as truly unpopular (like a villain like whats-her-face, the blonde teenage girl? Ugh the woooorrrst) I also didn’t like lol.

Hello! How about a prompt for the drabble challenge? 58: “How did we get here?” + character combo of your choice! 😘

so I spun a wheel and the pairing for this one was huntingbird! you also have to listen to this song while you read it because it works so well. (read it multiple times if you must.)

She doesn’t know how this happened.

She remembers their first wedding through fragmented memories like jagged stained glass, how they’d sworn they’d never part, sickness and death be damned; how the sunlight had poured through the field where they stood making their vows. She remembers thinking she wanted to bottle the moment, screw it tight in a mason jar so that it could never be lost.

They had been ethereal then, their words soft and powerful with the promise of a lifetime. She remembers her hand cradled in his, her anchor in an otherwise choppy sea of a world.

His proposal was a hazy memory shrouded in the reminiscence of nostalgia – when she thought about it, it was like viewing a decades-old movie – the face in her memories with tears streaming down rosy cheeks almost alien to her current complexion.

She couldn’t find a negative memory. Why couldn’t she find a negative memory?

Anything would’ve sufficed. Even the smallest infraction – a fight, money gone missing – she would’ve taken anything at this point. Anything that would’ve explained how they’d fallen so far.

The sun was rising on them, now, ripples of heat accompanying the scorching reds and oranges of the rising sun. It slowly but surely lit up the gritty high-rises of the city, and if she listened hard enough, she could hear people beginning their days with blaring honks and revving taxi engines.

“How did we get here?” she wondered out loud, and the question lingered in the air with the dissipating cold. How had they ended up on the roof of their apartment, last night’s beers in their hands and resignment settling into their bodies?

How had they gone from promising each other love for the rest of their lives to not having an ounce of love at all?

On this special day I just wanted to wish @blancasplayground a very, very happy birthday! In addition to being an amazing writer and FitzSimmons shipper, Blanca is the best fandom friend ever. It has only been a year, but I couldn’t imagine watching this show without her. This year has been a busy one for both of us, but we’ve been able to write fic together, chat about pretty much everything...and I’m so grateful our paths crossed when they did (probably the universe wanted us to write together 😂😂😂)

One day isn’t enough to celebrate such a wonderful person, so I wrote a fluffy fic to post over the next five days (one chapter a day). Of course this fic comes with a little story. When I was writing something for kink bingo, I typed a word that my phone auto-corrected to “couch.”  After we giggled about it for awhile I started writing this (and it was soooo hard to keep it a secret). Luckily I had help from @agentofship (who also made some fabulous art to go with it) and @jemleofan.

So, happy birthday! And I hope you like your gift.  Love ya! 💕💕💕

FitzSimmons Secret Santa fic!

The fic is called “Problem Solved”, is rated Teen and Up, and is 2,600 words. Summary: Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz are the star students at the Academy, despite their young ages. They are also best friends who are obsessed with science and who each harbor a secret. And they are wondering why their fellow students decided to hold a masquerade ball.
