Mum found it in the attic and gave it to me. Said he looks just like me.” I frown and study the portrait, not seeing the resemblance. “Really? I don’t see it. I think you’ve got higher cheekbones and a sharper jaw.” He lowers his gaze to me and chuckles, chagrined. He doesn’t like talking about his looks. “I think the old sod is rather dashing, don’t you?” I shrug. “I don’t know. I don’t think I’d be his type.” He crosses his arms over his chest and gives me a considering look. “Why not?” I clear my throat. “Well, according to you, I’m a nagging fishwife who’s always badgering after you about one thing or another.” He smiles and chucks my chin. “But those are your charming qualities.”
