I saw this panel from chapter 199 and knew I needed to see it animated, but I didn’t want to wait two years for that to happen. SO! I did what any decent self-proclaimed “animator” would do and did it myself. I’m actually pretty proud of it.

I totally was able to get this done a while ago, but final stressful days in pregnancy + new baby = not a lot of time/many distractions to sit down and finish it. Yet, here it is! Enjoy!

Update: Fixed my layering so that his headphones are UNDER his collar now as well as fixed the the image scaling to include more of the actual drawing that the original crop marks cut out. If you notice the link to the old photo is gone, just replace it with this one.

I was already so happy about getting this spotlight on Tokoyami, who’s a delight but previously hasn’t had many chances to develop his character. But it’s also lovely to see so many different body types being shown as heroic. You can be a tiny little goth bird and still be a hero. I cannot stress how important this is to bnha and its continuing power as a shounen story. I spent like ten minutes earlier staring at Momo’s face and crying about being able to genuinely identify with the physical representation of a hero.

As for the big reveal though, I kind of felt cheated.

But like...physics still exist in bnha, right? When Deku goes smash he still needs to break all his bones, right?? Equal and opposite forces??? I can hear Isaac Newton crying right now.

Also Toko’s main quirk introduction was during the cavalry battle, when they made a big deal about uraraka canceling their gravity and using hatsume’s rocket boots, none of that would’ve been necessary if toko could fly like fuckin Superman??? Horikoshi...why

Still I love this manga unconditionally, it was a great chapter, toko is best boy now, and I have a new crack ship for all y’all nerds:
