Album Number Four Hundred Fifty. “Mystery to Me” is the eighth studio album by #fleetwoodmac , released on 15 October 1973. This was their last album to feature #bobweston . Most of the songs were penned by guitarist/singer #bobwelch and keyboardist/singer #christinemcvie , who were instrumental in steering the band toward the radio-friendly pop rock that would make them successful a few years later. My copy is the 1977 gatefold reissue on #repriserecords - MSK-2279 #mysterytome sold moderately well, peaking at number 67 on the US Billboard 200 chart dated 22 December 1973. Despite not being a hit single, the song "Hypnotized" became an American FM radio staple for many years. An all-time favorite. I’ve never tried to make a personal top ten—too difficult—but I know I couldn’t get to ten without 1000 Hurts. It’s the rawest, most visceral thing on earth, those aluminum-necked guitars and Todd’s drums that sound like they broke John Bonham. Recorded live in a room, all analog, no trickery. And the lyrics, the only time Steve Albini has ever dropped the irony and showed his blackened heart… jesus, it’s intense. My only complaint, my ONLY complaint… why did they have to put this single LP in a box set box! It takes up the room of four LPs on my shelf, but I’m not gonna NOT have it there. Album Number Four Hundred Forty Nine. “Penguin is the seventh studio album by British-American rock band #fleetwoodmac , released in March 1973. It was the first Fleetwood Mac album after the departure of #dannykirwan , the first to feature #bobweston and the only one to feature #davewalker My copy is gatefold on #repriserecords - MS-2138. (a later pressing, per the label) The penguin is the band mascot favoured by #johnmcvie . His fascination with the birds originated when he lived near London Zoo during the early days of his marriage to #christinemcvie . He was a member of the #zoologicalsocietyoflondon and would spend hours at the zoo studying and watching the penguins. #penguinalbum was the highest charting Fleetwood Mac album in the US at the time, clawing its way into the Top 50.
