Früher durfte er in keiner Pariser Küche fehlen - seit einigen Jahren ist der Kampot-Pfeffer wieder groß im Kommen! 

Mit knapp 50.000 Einwohnern kann man Kampot getrost als Kleinstadt bezeichnen. 

Die Umgebung ist bekannt für die Produktion des besten Pfeffers der Region und riesige Salzfelder. Ebenso gilt die Gegend als Hauptproduzent von Durian (”Stinkfrucht”).

Die größte Atraktion ist jedoch die Bokor Hill Station. Ein verlassener Ort auf dem Berg “Phnom Boko”, der vor allem wegen seiner Aussicht und dem Image als Geisterstadt bei Touristen beliebt ist. Er liegt auf 1.081 Meter Höhe im Preah Monivong Nationalpark. Hier wurde unter anderem der Showdown des Films “City of Ghosts” gedreht.

Ein weiterer Touristenmagnet ist der Krabbenmarkt in Kampots Nachbarstädtchen Kep, auch diesem wurde mit einer großen Krabbenstatue gehuldigt.

Bokor Mountain is definitely a must-see hillside located in Kampot.

You will enjoy touring a synagogue, old and new casinos, and the royal residence. The house, which boasts incredible views of Cambodia’s coastline.
