If it is too difficult to strengthen and make sure our Philippines coast guards are not bullied, can you at least ensure that they and their families are well provided for with proper healthcare and insurance?
May God have mercy on our country - the Philippines, our citizens - the Filipinos, the old and elderlies who cannot afford good healthcare and have to work because they need to eat despite being weak, the breadwinners (the widows and widowers and those who are children and singles too but had to take over when their father died) still paying lots of taxes and supporting their families even if it means forgetting their original dreams, the children and young adults who could barely eat three times a day, much less attend school and focus on education, our bullied Philippine Coast Guard, our teachers who have to pay for resources with their own money for good teaching materials, the students who need to limit their study hours because they have to share rooms, our commuters who are mostly employees who come to work, already exhausted because our transportation systems are too poor and in dire need of improvement, and everyone else. Everyone else. Every single Filipino.
Please. Please treat us well. Stop the corruption. Raise our moral. Dear government, you are there to serve. And we are here to support. But please treat us well and prioritize us. Do not waste our taxes on your own propaganda and on elevating yourselves. The real ones who need help are everywhere. The real ones who need our funds are everywhere. Do you feel their pain? Do you see us? We have been enduring for far too long. Do not hire people who are incapable and have their own motives. Do not waste money on poor materials and poor planning. Hire loyal and competent ones. Let them sign contracts that call for accountability. Let there be an audit team consisting of concerned and talented workers with a true heart to help ensure the work is properly done and the Filipinos are blessed with improvement. Let there be transparency in your spending to ensure every cent is accounted for and used for the right cause. Please treat OUR country and OUR people right. Respect OUR rights and OUR welfare, not another country's.
Pretty please. Do it well.
Please HELP our country beloved - the Philippines.

don't support here lies love the musical as it comes to bway
my post on here lies love is getting rounds and while i still stand by everything i said on that post, my grievances with the musical has Grown in the last couple of weeks of me researching about it. granted, i still need to do more— i want to do an essay on it in the future because i would hate for it to run on broadway for long, but because that takes time, i thought, at least, i would need to make a post detailing what i find wrong about this musical. even if it's not the most comprehensive, i want more people to be informed about it as soon as possible.
so, have this. ramblings at 5am. i'll try my best to gather sources, but information i have regarding the marcoses comes from a lot of non-digital resources like classes, museums, and physical books. in this case, i recommend the following resources to learn more about who the marcos family is and what they did:
"the kingmaker" by lauren greenfield. native filipinos can watch this free on youtube, but if you aren't from the ph i recommend using a vpn to access it or find a pirated version somewhere else
online martial law museum
if you can buy it, "some are smarter than others" by ricardo manapat, a book detailing marcos' crony capitalism and all his faults
i'd also like to preface: i am not a saint. i am not a historian nor the smartest person who can detail everything marcos did when he was born. i'm trying to do my best with what i know, and i am down to learn more if others want to chime in.
lastly, here's a fresher on the names of people involved, because it can be confusing:
ferdinand marcos — i will try my best calling him ferdinand but most people, including myself, often call him just "marcos" despite the fact that they technically all are marcoses. he was the president from 1965-1986
imelda marcos — i will refer to her as imelda. wife to ferdinand and contributed a lot to his reign of terror. she is still alive today.
bong bong marcos — son of ferdinand and imelda. his name is often shorted to bbm, which i will use. he is currently the present of the philippines
ninoy aquino — marcos' main rival who he indirectly murdered. not a perfect guy tho, just the lesser evil. i will just call him ninoy
now, onto the real deal:
thesis statement, so this can be easy to follow: despite the intentions of the musical being anti-marcos, much of how it is written and presented will inevitably become propaganda to brighten the image of the marcoses. by putting imelda in the forefront, making her entire character do what she does supposedly out of love, audiences will come out of the theatre sympathizing with her and her family. not only is this politically dangerous, but it is incredibly insensitive to native filipinos who have not only gone through the struggle of martial law, but also is suffering through bbm's presidency today.
[rest of the post under the cut]
despite what a lot of criticisms claim, the intentions of the musical is not to be pro-marcos. this is stated in their instagram post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
david bryne also stated these in an article from the guardian:
"The mindset of the Marcos regime and the mindset of disco music to me doesn’t seem all that distant. The hedonistic, escapist feeling of losing yourself and being transported to another world, like you feel on the dance floor and like you feel in a dance club, that’s a means to divorce yourself from the rest of the world, just as Imelda did.
When you’re dancing, you’re in this psychological and sonic bubble, in the same way that powerful people create a bubble around themselves. So I wanted to give an audience a taste of that feeling.
In the first half, when the play is dealing with her childhood, her upbringing and her meeting with Ferdinand Marcos, it’s meant to get the audience to empathise with her and understand what’s driving her and then they’ll understand how that manifests later on."
so, it seems promising: an anti-marcos musical that will make audiences dislike empathizing with her. initially, i really liked the concept of audiences being lost with the music similar to how the marcoses were able to play a lot of their supporters.
but, and a big but, 1.) there's a lot to pick apart from these statements, and 2.) i fucking despise how they presented imelda in the musical.
let's discuss the first point: the instagram post details that the intent of the musical is to dispel disinformation created about the marcoses. first thing's first, if this truly was a musical that aims to educate, then broadway is probably the worst way to do it. while the west and native filipinos could share the award of most misinformed about the marcoses, native filipinos are the ones most affected by it. we just suffered a terrible election last year with constant speculation and reports of vote buying. i've heard accounts from people from the province that bbm would send representatives to bribe those in poverty to ensure a vote. we are suffering in the worst education crisis, with the most corrupt politicians you can think of.
so, if this musical aims to educate, the fact that you can only access it by viewing it live on broadway is incredibly... backwards. how are you opting to dispel information when those most affected can't even access it?
what's worse is the statement that says that modern history of the philippines cannot be told without the usa. it is such a patronizing, surface-level statement that gets my blood boiling. it is true that our histories and present-day contexts are intertwined, especially since the filipino diaspora in the usa is incredibly huge, but that's because this is all a product of american colonization + imperialism. stating like the philippines owes the usa to retell our native stories mirrors much of the savior complex-esque sentiments the usa had when they colonized us.
now, onto bryne's statement. the main problem i have with it is him insinuating that imelda is a victim of circumstance. he wants us the audience "empathize" with her and understand her downfall. this is common rhetoric uninformed people, even filipinos, used to excuse imelda's contributions. that she was supposedly "poor", that marcos put her through hell. but genuinely, and i cannot emphasize this enough, imelda was an absolute ass on her own accord.
no, she did not grow up poor. her wikipedia even states that she grew up in a wealthy family, born into the romualdez political dynasty. my history professor even claimed that she attempted bribing the mayor when she lost one of her beauty pageants. despite the repetitive "i'm doing this for love!" bullshit the musical regurgitates, imelda did not even marry marcos out of love. in ricardo manapat's book, he details how marcos attempted to swoon imelda by showing her his vault of money (of course, possibly stolen). she was enraptured by marcos the moment she saw his WEALTH.
i want to emphasize: imelda is not fucking stupid. much of what marcos did to the philippines was thanks to her. i would recommend watching the kingmaker documentary for all the details, but just know she is still alive and incredibly wealthy. she is well-known for her absolute gaudiness and all of that comes from her money-centric mindset. she does not give a shit about love.
here's some accounts by ricardo manapat from his book. on imelda falling in love with marcos (btw, she had a fiance at the time and didn't tell him she was marrying marcos until said fiance found out on the damn newspaper):
Tumblr media
imelda being aware of the wealth she accumulates in politics:
Tumblr media
on this note, i'd love to discuss how historically inaccurate the musical is. i'd like to preface that i've only listened to the only available version of the musical which is the 2013 version on spotify. this could have changed, but either way, the general tone of the narrative already reads to me as extremely incorrect, anyway. i'd also love to detail every discrepancy of each song, but again, i'll save that for a future essay.
in general, the musical's plotline follows imelda, a "humble and poor" girl from leyte who grows up and marries ferdinand. she repeatedly expresses she's doing this all out of love. thus, the musical insinuates that imelda is merely a victim of circumstance, and that she didn't become evil on her own accord. and yet, from what i've presented so far, she was very much aware! she was not passive. you have to understand, SHE was the reason both men and women had equal opportunities to become corrupt in our government.
what marcos did was also imelda's fault. the genocide and displacement of indigenous people, the mass torture and murder of journalists and politicians, the stealing of companies and mass wealth, the mass delivery of non-native animals to the philippines. she condoned all that. yes, marcos cheated on her, but she also used that as a means to manipulate him into doing whatever she wanted. they are both horrible people.
speaking of, marcos' song in the musical was also really bad. he could be written as lying for all we know, but his "fear" of japanese soldiers invading the philippines is also up for debate. there is speculation of the marcoses collaborating with japanese troops, which also led to the murder of marcos' father's political rival.
Tumblr media
and while i don't know if there's actual dialogue outside of the songs, i don't think this musical actually informs us much of the marcos' faults. the songs, which will be the most accessible thing to native filipinos, express nothing but generic descriptions of what characters feel about certain situations. it's hard to understand or know what these people are actually doing because it's just so vague and ambiguous. how are you supposed to inform when none of the music details, well, anything? the information given is so minimal that i pray, at least, the musical would have more explicit scenes about marcos' atrocities.
and that's my main problem with the musical. with how much they spend sympathizing with imelda in the first act, i don't think everything the marcoses have done can be encapsulated in the second. of course, i'm not asking to give me a detailed rundown of everything they did, but let's be honest, this musical was never about dispelling disinformation. if it was, then they wouldn't spend an entire act and a half sucking imelda's dick. it's not about educating audiences about martial law. it's about humanizing imelda, with martial law and the marcoses' atrocities as a second priority. it makes me sick to my stomach seeing how pure imelda is presented when travelling to meet other world leaders, or how she's seen as the person who insisted that ninoy move away from the philippines.
it was never about education or re-information. in the end, these were such pretentious and performative statements to defend a historically inaccurate musical.
and tbh, that's just the tip of the iceberg of why i hate this musical. another thing is that, holy shit is it obvious that it's written by two white people. they mispronounce "tacloban" (should be tacLOban not tacloBAN). these characters are also just... not distinctly filipino? they're so white in mannerisms. i need more insulting humor, more grit. in fairness, the richer you are in the philippines the more connected you are to western culture, but i would have loved to see that disaparity more in the songwriting. they really peaked (/s) when they wrote these lyrics:
Tumblr media
this is... awful, in a cringey what the hell manner. i hope they changed it for the bway production, because this was blatant evidence that the songwriters barely took the time to understand our culture before writing.
if you don't understand what it says, "titi mo" (the correct spelling is tite but i digress) means "your dick". i think imelda is trying to call marcos a dick, but they literally translated dick in tagalog. but tite isn't an insult, it literally refers to a penis. "mo" is the equivalent of "your" which also makes ZERO sense. the lyric literally goes "how can a your penis run the country?", like WHAT.
so you know, maybe there's a reason why many filipinos fucking despise this show on twitter. we are insulted for good reason. they are sensationalizing and glamorizing our suffering for their own gain. we native filipinos and other filipino diaspora who can't access the show have nothing to gain. here lies love is profiting from our struggles that we are still recovering from and experiencing today. imagine if you made a musical about hitler explaining he is a victim of circumstance to disco music. insensitive, isn't it? i'd love to ask the cast of here lies love if they'd ever show the musical to living survivors and families of victims of martial law.
and what's worse, because of course it gets worse, misinformation like this is what boosts the reputation of corrupt politicians in the first place. manapat quotes what leonard saffir wrote about how marcos built his reputation in new york via a biography filled with disinformation. the excerpt is too long but it's quoted from this article by the new york times. and now we are living in an era of another musical based on imelda being shown in new york — time is a flat fucking circle.
what sickens me is that this musical is possibly a lot of americans' first exposure to the marcoses, and what will they think? imelda is just a poor girl, imelda is just a victim, imelda is blah blah blah. that will be stamped in their head. even if some filipinos have come out of this musical dreadful that they sympathized with imelda, not everyone is gonna have the same experience.
Tumblr media
^ this an excerpt from one of theatermania's articles. dictators have feelings too, i guess!
objectively, there is nuance when it comes to anyone. but the problem is, we cannot afford to consider nuance in politics. we cannot sympathize with imelda right now when people are dying of poverty under the marcoses' hand. the marcoses are very much alive, very much in power, and very much willing to lend their offspring to other positions of power. they turned the entirety of ilocos into a bunch of marcos dicksuckers, and i'm afraid that this musical can make a ton of their audiences be oblivious to the true extents of the marcos' atrocities. i'm already seeing people on tiktok say that there's nothing wrong about this musical, or that this can exist when miss saigon and evita exist (which in on itself are problematic beliefs, because they are glamorizing other country's sufferings too).
i am privileged enough to be educated about marcos, and while there is much to be done in terms of disability and lgbtqia+ rights, i am lucky to be less impacted by the marcoses compared to other people. but there are hundreds of thousands of filipinos severely affected by marcos. what's worse, is that there are plenty extremely uneducated that they are unaware that marcos is directly contributing to their suffering. my history professor told us that other countries are using the philippines as their model for successful disinformation campaigns. in this era of disinformation, we cannot afford to disinform even more. as sad as it is, the usa has a lot of power and control over the philippines (and the world, tbh), so one wrong step into the wrong direction and we're fucked. this musical fails the message it attempts to preach and i cannot imagine how much more people are going to spread misinformation about the philippines like they did during the 2022 elections.
to end off, i'd like to mention to everyone that imelda marcos has actually listened to the musical. in this new york times article, she says, "i'm flattered, i can't believe it!". i don't know what to tell you— if imelda herself says she likes the musical you claim to be anti-marcos, then what does that say about the musical?
i guess i'll end with, i am willing to change opinions once i see how the musical is being executed. if they emphasize the atrocities done by marcos and give proper information about the timeline of events, then i can be more lenient. but if i still see any attempts woobifying imelda, then i stand by what i say. this musical is insensitive, disrespectful, and just fucking hurtful.

i cant talk politics on my personal twitter because my mom knows my account and she and my father hv been very clear about what i shouldnt be saying lol so i’ll just say it here
Tumblr media
“ginusto niyo yan” his voters did not wish for bbm to put the country into more debt than we already have. bbm campaigned for unity, that we would unite and improve the country as one. he’s a shithead with a strong family who refuses to at least acknowledge the 20 years of dictatorship the philippines was in because of marcos sr
there is nothing we can do anymore about leni losing the election. a loss for all of us. but that is in the past, we cannot change it? where is the compassion! if those are the kind of kakampinks that my parents and many other bbm supporters encounter, i see why they wouldn’t switch sides.
my godd..  its so frustrating to see people get mad at those affected by the phaseout (jeepney drivers)... so what if they voted for bong bong? they didn’t vote bbm in hopes of the president screwing them over like this.
anyway, that’s all...

what’s bbm??? /gen
bbm is bong bong marcos, current president of the philippines. he's the son of former dictator ferdinand marcos and partner in crime imelda marcos.
i won't get into too much detail, but do know that marcos (the father) is the reason we had a massive dip in development in the philippines. marcos murdered, incarcerated, and tortured thousands of activists who fought against his authoritarian regime in the 70s. while he did, him and his family managed to transfer a lot of business ownerships to him and his close friends, which ricardo manapat, author of some people are smarter than others, stated started a new elite in the philippines. marcos has the guinness world record for most money stolen by the government, accumulating to 5-30 BILLION usd.
but again, the real crime here is marcos' unjust murders. victims of martial law are still alive today. the practice of murdering journalists and activists are still happening today. i can't even finish without mentioning all the massacres marcos had done, murdering indigenous and muslim filipinos.
and now, bbm, his son, is president, even after massive proof that he manipulated the poor and mass bought votes. his family works hard trying to erase history while also being incredibly fucking complacent during bbm's presidency. but with the way he's literally only speaking english for announcements and decrees, it's obvious he doesn't care about any of us lol.
yeah so that's why i won't support bia if she genuinely supports the marcoses but so far she's just happy to gain recognition for her representing the country. i'll research more if she's had any more stances abt marcos

7 Google Maps' Creepy Coordinates in the Philippines
Do you want to experience something that will leave you speechless for the rest of your life, something that will astound your mind, and something that will send shivers down your spine?
Tumblr media
Even though Halloween is still a ways off, we have something ready to quench your hunger for some spine-tingling, scream-inducing, and mind-blowing moments.
For today, our team explores the well-used map service to look for some creepy places we've found within the island of the Philippines that was used by many when traveling or commuting, Google Maps.
Google Maps is a Web-based tool that provides precise information on geographical regions and sites worldwide. Google Maps in certain cities provides street views comprised of images shot from automobiles.
Because it provides a better approximation of a traditional map, Google Maps is a big aid to everyone. However, there are a number of disturbing objects that may be found in various regions of the world.
We've listed 7 creepy coordinates with rich, groggy, and scary history of the place.
Laperal White House (Baguio City)
Old Clark Air Base Hospital (Pampanga)
Fort Drum - El Fraile Island (Cavite City)
The Zamboanga Plaza Hotel & Casino (Zamboanga)
Balete Drive (Quezon City)
Compañia Maritima (Cebu City)
Doña Concha Umali Ancestral House (Tiaong, Quezon Province)
---
1. Laperal White House
Google Coordinates: 15.1949301,120.5269771
Tumblr media
Roberto Laperal built the home in the 1930s. The home is built of narra and yakal wood and is fashioned in the Victorian style, complete with wooden planks, gables, and a high roof. Roberto and Victorina Laperal, the clan chiefs, made the mansion their holiday home.
During WWII, Japanese forces took the home and used it as a fortress. According to reports, the forces assaulted women, tortured, and executed suspected spies working for the US and its allies.
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laperal_White_House
2. Old Clark Air Base Hospital (Pampanga)
Google Coordinates: 15.1949301,120.5269771
Tumblr media
The USAF started building a brand-new, cutting-edge regional medical facility at Clark in 1960. The new $4.5 million Clark AB Hospital/Regional Medical Center with 200 beds opened in April 1964.
Locals think that this hospital is haunted because of the number of troops that perished there. The neglected infrastructure creates certain odd acoustics, which, when combined with the darkness of the interior rooms, might easily persuade one to believe in otherworldly occurrences. There are many parts of the hospital. Some have been recovered by squatters, although the portions most destroyed by time and weather may be easily visited.
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Clark_Air_Base
3. Fort Drum - El Fraile Island (Cavite City)
Google Coordinates: 14.305042,120.6299896,19z
Tumblr media
What looks to be a massive, blocky battleship is actually a concrete island called Fort Drum, or El Fraile Island, an abandoned military station with rusted weapons.
Following the Spanish-American War, America sought to fortify its fortifications around several of its newly acquired territories, including Manila Bay. To that aim, instead of stationing valuable naval assets in the port, it was determined that a permanent defense position would be erected on the little island known as El Fraile Island. The island was leveled and rebuilt nearly from scratch with reinforced concrete in the shape of a gigantic warship.
Unfortunately, Japanese soldiers took the facility during WWII and held it until 1945, when American troops came to reclaim Manila. After securing the men outside the fort, the Americans simply poured oil and gasoline into the garrison and set it ablaze, obliterating the remaining German forces and igniting a fire that lasted for days within the base.
After retaking Manila, the war-torn Fort Drum was simply abandoned, the burned-out fortress and its towering cannons rusting away like an immovable ghost ship.

4. The Zamboanga Plaza Hotel & Casino (Zamboanga)
Tumblr media
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z6OHJxvPvg
This hotel was formerly known as The Zamboanga Plaza Hotel & Casino. It was the first 5-star hotel and the largest hotel in Zamboanga City and Mindanao during the Marcos regime, and it was solely accessible to the rich. Celebrities, international political personalities, and even President Marcos stayed at the hotel for events and meetings.
The facilities included a large swimming pool with a pool bar, a restaurant with a coffee shop, a large event hall, a disco area, and a casino that was known at the time as the most beautiful casino in Asia. Walking into the hotel was like entering a palace.
However, the 5-star hotel shuttered in 1986 for unknown reasons. There are just stories and theories about why it shut down. Some claim it was due to poor management or that someone was murdered. Finally, most people believe it was closed because it was interfering with the development of other companies. However, no one truly knows the truth.
It now remains abandoned, with legends of devils, ghosts, and a massive snake lurking deep within, guarding the chamber where the former President resided.
5. Balete Drive (Quezon City)
Google Coordinates: 14.6209771,121.0371321,3a,75y,311.14h,93.63t
Tumblr media
If you enjoy nighttime road journeys, avoid Balete Drive in Quezon City, especially if you're alone. It is one of the most popular and intriguing tourist destinations in the Philippines.
In case you haven't heard, the White Lady of Balete Drive is the most well-known White Lady in the Philippines. According to some legends, the White Lady of Balete frequently crosses the roadway as you drive there, and occasionally rides with you! There are other horror stories surrounding the lady's death: some believe she died in a vehicle accident, while others believe she perished during the Spanish colonial era and has yet to find peace.
That being stated, you no longer need to hunt for a haunted home in Manila because you can experience the shivers and excitement you need just on Balete Drive.
6. Compañia Maritima (Cebu City)
Google Coordinates: 0.2913107,123.9024959,3a,75y,338.28h,92.06t
Tumblr media
The massive edifice, which faces the South Road Properties (SRP), was completed in 1910. The Fernandez Building was named for the corporation that owned it at the time, Fernandez Hermanos Inc. According to historian Lucy Urgello Miller's book "Glimpses of Old Cebu: Images of the Colonial Era," the structure was inhabited by Shamrock Hotel in the 1930s, as demonstrated by the postcard below, which has withstood the ravages of time.
The roof and internal structure of the Fernandez Building were devastated by bombs and enemy fire during WWII. However, in the postwar period, the building was rebuilt and subsequently occupied by Compaia Maritima, one of Cebu City's largest shipping lines, from whence the building gained its current name.
As fate would have it, the firm declared bankruptcy in the late 1980s, and the building has since been demolished. The three-story Compania Maritima still stands today, its arched windows and balusters on the roof deck are silent witnesses to the fascinating history of this architectural gem.

7. Doña Concha Umali Ancestral House (Tiaong, Quezon Province)
Google Coordinates: 13.9632371,121.3219105,3a,75y,149.66h,90t
Tumblr media
Tomas Mapua, a great architect, designed the mansion. Construction began in early January 1928 and was completed by mid-year. It must have been an extraordinarily big and imposing edifice for little town Tiaong, with a wide garden space decorated with a horseshoe-shaped pond, dramatized by a sculpture of Elias wrestling a crocodile, inspired by and pulled from the pages of Jose Rizal's Noli Me Tangere.
Two years ago, the dream to rehabilitate the house was once again resurrected, egged on by an impassioned sentiment to dedicate the effort to the memory of our grandmother, Lola Concha. Two months ago, the restoration started.

Journalist Iris Gonzales wrote on the January 7, 2024 Edition of her Column on the PhilStar Global Website called "Eyes Wide Open" is sounding off the Alarm based on the reportedly increasing Corruption within the various Agencies under the Administration of Bong Bong Marcos (BBM).
She cited numerous Incidents in her Column, and most if not all of them are Anecdotes, so it will be difficult to determine if these are true or not unless People start coming forward and exposing them. However, with the Government tightening its grip on Social Media, then less People will be encouraged to go forward and in fact will make the Corrupt People in Government (if there are any) continue what they are doing since nobody is exposing them.
Anyway, here are some select Quotes from the Article, there are many more so I suggest you go out and read it yourself, the Link to it will be down below:
"Some two Months ago, Embassy Workers from a Philippine Embassy abroad extorted Money from Foreign Nationals applying for a Visa to go to the Philippines, Industry Sources told me. Workers from this Philippine Embassy were asking P40,000 from each Visa Applicant. This is on Top of the Standard Visa Fee and the Applicants were told that if they don’t pay, their Visa application will not be facilitated. Some of the Victims are Chinese Nationals and some of them are here in the Philippines because they decided to just pay the P40,000, rather than not have their Visa processed. However, other Foreign Nationals, I’m told, are opting to just visit other Countries."
"As Buildings need to have a specific number of Fire Extinguishers, some of these local Fire Departments insist that you acquire the necessary Extinguishers from their Suppliers. And guess what? The Prices are many times more expensive than those available in the Market. Another Scheme is a delay in inspection. Inspectors will take their time before they visit your Site. They will then give you the runaround and find an endless number of Issues unless you give them what they want.”

Walang full disclosure si Toni at si...
Tumblr media
Toni Gonzaga’s Bongbong Marcos (BBM) interview on her Toni Talks YouTube channel has people talking.
Her interview with BBM, published on BBM’s birthday, Monday, September 13, dangerously played accomplice to the whitewashing of the history of the Marcoses. Toni Gonzaga-Soriano, although it wasn’t a secret, failed to mention in the interview that Bongbong Marcos is her wedding ninong (godfather).
The failure to disclose the affiliation was among the mistakes made by Gonzaga-Soriano.
Prior, she had interviewed opposition figures such as Isko Moreno, Chel Diokno, and Leni Robredo, which gave her a veneer of neutrality.
Collective anger: People speak up on Toni Gonzaga-BBM interview

"Secretary Mar Roxas is the cousin of my wife, Vice President Jejomar Binay and I are from the north,  Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and I are good friends and Senator Grace Poe is my sister in government. We are good friends," he added.
Bongbong: I can work with any of the presidentiables
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You don’t know me naman as Senator Bong, you know me as Bong - BBM Correct dyan tayo galing sa Ilocos-lovakia, dun tayo huling nagkita. – Korina
Korina-BBM part 1
What will your wife – Liza’s – role be in your government? – Korina I think…You know my wife…
First name basis na sila.
Pano sila nag kakilala. Lagi bang husband and wife ang interview niya? Parties ba?
There's a difference between doing interviews with a critical line of questioning to unveil the truth and hold the person accountable; with doing interviews to enable historical revisionism, trumpet lies, and amplify propaganda. Know where you should stand.#NeverForget
— Jervis Manahan (@JervisManahan)
September 14, 2021
Nag mukha tuloy unity candidate, willing to move on.

If you don't know what's going on the in the Philippines, the short answer is that our elections happened on May 9, 2022 and the results are an embarrassment to our history and we, as a country, are fucked. Currently in the lead, based on the unofficial and partial results of our commission on elections (COMELEC), is the son of a dictator we ousted in 1986, whose family has yet to payback the BILLIONS they owe the people and apologies for literal YEARS WORTH of crimes against humanity. Instead, they gave history revisionism through TikTok and fake news to the masses, manipulating voters to think the years of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. were the best in the Philippines, when it was anything but. Now, his son Ferdinand "Bong Bong" Marcos Jr. (BBM) is being pushed into power when he has NO DEGREE, NO CREDENTIALS, AND HAS MULTIPLE CASES OF TAX EVASION, and that is just the tip of the iceberg for this family of thieves and plunderers. According to COMELEC's partial and unofficial results, BBM's winning over Leni Robredo, the current Vice President of the country, who has an amazing track record as VP for 6 years, an ACTUAL POST-GRAD DEGREE, and is an attorney.
I refuse to accept this result, not because Leni is my candidate, but because there have been multiple reports and evidence of around 1,800+ Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) "malfunctioning", missing or corrupted SD cards, vote-buying for Marcos and his party, some reported attacks at voting precincts, and just mass electoral fraud. COMELEC has done jack shit about all these accusations, even claiming they've received no complaints about the election when we know that's a lie. COMELEC also dismissed several disqualification cases against BBM just today, May 10, 2022. They even transmitted the unofficial results at lightning speed last night when this has not happened before and we know for a fact people were still lined up at precincts waiting to vote, some even until 3 AM, because of the aforementioned broken machines and SD cards and they refused to leave their ballots in the care of staff at the precinct for fear of tampering with their ballots. They claim it's because they were "prepared", but it's clear to us that this election has been bought and rigged in their favor.
We have hundreds of youth protesting these unofficial results and they are already being labeled "militants", when all they carry are cardboard signs and their passion to give the country a leader it deserves, while the opposition is preemptively celebrating and trying to declare themselves the winner when the fight is far from over. We are still waiting for official results, but we are not satisfied with this election. They have failed to ensure it is fair. We will not acknowledge a presidency built upon lies, deceit, and oppression.
Fuck Marcos and, if need be, kitakits sa EDSA🌸

rant about ph politics bc there is no character limit here and i know that there's no way a b/bm apologist is here :
God the elections is only 4 days away and the attitude of the Filipino people are so fucking disheartening. Misogynists who outright say that they chose a male candidate instead of the overqualified female candidate bc they believe "Women should just be on the bed", grown ass people telling minors to stfu about the elections since they aren't voters yet (as if we wouldn't be one of the most affected by whatever new governance is coming), people left and right calling people terrorists just because they don't agree with them (knowing that people have been killed because of red-tagging) and more.
And at this point, I can say it's just a battle for their pride bc the people i was talking about actually support the son of late dictator, Ferdinand Marcos. They keep saying the mistakes of the father is not the mistakes of the son but you wanna know something too? the son has his OWN faults too. And plus, it's not like marcos jr. even acknowledges the atrocities that has been done during the era of marcos. It's not like he shows initiative to return the money they stole from our country (which amounts to 203 billion php) all he does is provide negotiations where he's all like "once you elect me as [position] I will return the money". And not to mention, they somehow keep saying the sins of the father isn't the sins of the son and yet... the achievements are? Not to mention, even the big classy buildings that have been established by late dictator Marcos were owed to countries abroad. And we are still paying the Marcos Familiy's debt till this day.
And the amount of fake news getting around too is the absolute worst! I saw someone say the Aquinos ruled over the Philippines for 30 years which like??? What alternate universe do you live in??? There were only 2 Aquinos who became president. Cory Aquino and Pinoy Aquino and they both ruled for 6 years only. Therefore the Aquinos have only ruled this land for 12 years. They have been so propagandized holy HECK.
And like, the way the people fighting for first place is either ms. VP Leni Robredo (Formerly a PAO (Public Attorney's Office) member, HOR (house of representatives) Member, and as you can tell : Vice president) and Bong Bong Marcos jr. is SO frustrating. Like it's really either we win BIG TIME with Leni Robredo because her credentials and track record speaks VOLUMES of how she'll actually do what's listed in her INCREDIBLY concise and precise platform, or we'll lose big time with Sen. Bong Bong Marcos who barely did anything with 20 years work in Ilocos Norte's local office and passed ONE bill only as senator. FUCK sen. Leila De Lima who is still in jail rn due to the fact she went against President Rodrigo Duterte's bloody brutal drug war HAS DONE MORE THAN HIM. SOMEONE IN JAIL WAS ABLE TO DO MORE THAN SOMEONE WHO WASN'T. THAT'S HOW BAD WE MIGHT LOSE WITH BBM AS PRESIDENT. Like we could've had a competent vs less competent but okay fight but it just HAD to be competent vs if this guy wins the philippines will crumble apart.
Could've been Leni Robredo vs Ka Leody (my second choice <33), Leni Robredo vs Ping Lacson (I don't like him at all but at least he's got accomplishments and a degree), Leni Robredo vs Isko Moreno (Corrupt, pocketed all the money donated to him the moment the donations weren't something that he could use for manila BUT AT LEAST WE SAW IMPROVEMENTS IN SOME PARTS OF MANILA.) and all THAT but it HAD to be this way huh?
Every single accomplishment of BBM has been fake news, even the fucking little milo taekwondo champion is fake, how're we supposed to expect an honest leader when lies even about the smallest of things??? The Ilocos Norte windmills?? WERE PRIVATE WORKS DONE BY PEOPLE FROM ABROAD. (If i remember correctly, Switzerland and the US??? I think?)
And not to mention his supporters' nasty attitude. I've already stated the misogyny but also they use the whole "The victors write history" AS IF WE DIDN'T WIN IT. AS IF WE DIDN'T WIN THE FIGHT AGAINST MARCOS. AS IF IT WASN'T THE FILIPINO PEOPLE WHO WON. They twisted the phrase into something SO disgusting. I even saw someone say it was one-sided to only believe the victims of the Martial Law! I saw people say that we shouldn't trust the victims immediately! it's DISGUSTING AND I AM TIRED.
And also if this man becomes president? He will completely revise history. They've been revising it since 2016 ("coincidentally" around the time BBM became senator) and it's only gonna get worse for us there. Not to mention I truely believe we'll come back to the days of Martial Law because it was his MOTHER who told him to run. Imelda Marcos who was able to have her fun during Ferdinand Marcos' martial law era. (Also he watched ant man which like. ew. ant man stole money from the rich to return it to the poor, your family stole money from the poor to never return it ever. u and scott lang are not the same asshole)
But I will never understand them for not even trying to ask why so many of the most well-educated people, schools and all that are supporting and endorsing VP Leni Robredo. Like two of the Miss Universes we've had? Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray? For Leni. The most prestigious schools of the country : University of the Philippines, Ateneo, Miriam College, DLSU and more? For Leni. In fact there was a game (Forgot which sport it was) but they all united with the color pink for the first time in history to show support for Leni Robredo. The cheerleaders united in support for Leni Robredo. The audience chanted for Leni-Kiko (Kiko is Leni's selected choice of Vice President). Why is it so hard to ask why the most educated of the educated of this country have their vote for her? Because I would be asking it if I weren't a Leni-Kiko supporter. Not to mention the economists, the environmentalists, the human rights activists, most of them are for the Leni-Kiko tandem. Ask yourself why this is! Find out why this is! It's that simple!
Also more ranting : I can't believe BBM supporters have the audacity to say that Leni can't defend us against China when their candidate can barely even attend debates to defend himself lmao. Plus, Leni's plan on what to do if there's a time China might push aggression towards us is actually the clearest of all the candidates. She understands that even if we fund the military it won't be enough so she'll have to strenghten international alliances. She understands that the moment China starts agression/ there is any sort of agression in a national level then THAT'S the moment she'll fund the military. Not just funding the military forever and forgetting other parts of the gov't (her focus rn seems more on health and education which like THANK the heavens.). Like??? I am just dumbfounded by these apologists
Also the laguage BBM supporters use is also incredibly icky. It's giving... KPop problematic fave ngl. Like the whole "Yeah but at least __" and then the "Cry, you guys will lose on May 9 anyways" Like dude??? This isn't a KPop Award Show this isn't the fucking MMA or MAMA this is the National Elections! Be serious! Keep your ears open! Keep your eyes open! Be vigilant! This is for the //country//. Also the whole "why do you care, it's just my vote anyways" #$@??$@# IT MAKES ME SO MAD. THIS ISN'T JUST YOUR VOTE. YOUR ONE VOTE COULD DO SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE. YOU COULD BE THE ONE VOTER THAT MAKES THEM WIN AGAINST THE REST!
And that one time I saw a BBM supporter say na aktibista lang naman ung namatay sa martial law (only activists were killed during martial law.).... Like yall don't see other humans with a diff opinion than u as humans don't you? I don't have much to say about this bc it's just genuinely disgusting and blood boiling.
And, to make things lighter now I saw someone say that Kakampinks (what leni supporters are called) saying "why bbm" is toxic and like 💀💀💀. We're just asking a question??? and then they'll flip the script and say "kakampinks don't listen anyways" DUDE. YALL ARE THE ONE WHO DON'T LISTEN. WE KEEP SHOWING U THE MULTIPLE INFOGRAPHICS* DONE AND YALL DON'T READ IT. which is fair honestly there's a lotta words, BUT YOU SHOULD READ IT BC IT'S FOR THE COUNTRY. READ EVERYONE'S STANCES ONTHINGS, CREDENTIALS, TRACK RECORDS AND MORE BEFORE DECIDING ON A LEADER.

er hi guys idk if im wording this right (might edit this later in case theres mistakes) but any religious mutuals might want to... add the Philippines to their prayers ? especially in regards to the election rn, it's bad.
there's shameless vote-buying
the vote counting machines aren't working and the poll-watchers are offering to insert the ballots themselves, making way for people to tamper with voter's ballots– thus giving more votes for the son of a late dictator (Ferdinand "Bong Bong" Marcos Jr.)
there are literal BOOTHS near the voting site campaigning for BBM's party.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
photo from Twitter user @/chuckiedreyfus. if you want to visit the actual tweet: click on the word "here"
the cherry on top to this mess is that the Commision on Elections (COMELEC) aren't acknowledging ANY of this, despite multitudes of people asking for them to DO SOMETHING.
idk what to do, honestly. all we can do rn is to boost the posts spreading awareness (i'll leave links) to add more pressure for COMELEC to take action.
most of the posts I'll link are from twitter since many voters are vocal there and make sure to retweet!
links;
a thread of election anomalies in multiple places
teachers are shading ballots that aren't theirs + poll watchers are being threatened if they take a video
warning for violence and loud noises: video of ballots and VCMs (vote counting machines) being destroyed
these are only a few posts, but if anyone wants to read more, i encourage you to go on the #Halalan2022 and #Eleksyon2022 tags on Twitter.
i'm sorry for bringing a post like this to the timeline and frankly i always thought of Tumblr as a strictly fandom-only app for me but i just feel like I had to let people know here. please pray for the Philippines. VP Leni Robredo is a candidate with zero records of corruption, has done many things for the Filipino people before and during her time as vice president despite her low budget, she can't lose.

Hello! Not many of you might know, but it's the campaign period right now for the spot of the President, Vice President, Senator, etc. in the Philippines! In honor of this, I'd like to share a bit of history! If I make any mistakes, please do tell me!
Before I begin, keep in mind that everything I gather here are based on facts and facts alone unless said otherwise. I shall do my best to remain unbiased throughout this, and I hope you, as a reader do as well.
How it all started
Our first president was none other than Emilio Aguinaldo, who was known for fighting for the independence of the Philippines against the Spaniard rule which, like other times countries were colonized, was tyranic and abusive. Shortly after being free from the Spaniards and Emilio Aguinaldo taking on the role as president, the American's took over. They had previously spoke to the Spanish to hand over the Philippines to them and made it seem as if they were the ones who defeated the Spaniards with the intent to free the Philippines. After that, the Japanese took over, and soon after that, specifically on July 4, 1964 or June 12. Now, this might seem confusing. Why two days? To explain this, here is a section taken from this website.
A compromise was reached in which Congress decided to include a provision in the bill making July 4 “Republic Day.” Thereafter, in 1964, the Congress of the Philippines passed Republic Act No. 4166 in 1964, formally designating June 12 of every year as the date of Philippine independence.
Here are some pictures on that very day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that that is done with, let's talk a bit about the father of one of the people running for president, none other than Ferdinand Marcos!
The Rule of Ferdinand Marcos
Ferdinand E. Marcos was the second president to be reelected twice in the Philippines. He had a wife and kids, the most well-known at the moment named Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. also known as "Bong Bong Marcos", BBM for short.
During his first period as president, he had greatly improved the Philippines in many aspects such as Agriculture and Economy. The Philippines had flourished under his rule.
The second time he was elected however, he declared the Philippines be under Martial Law killings began happening left and right, from politicians against him to college students. Anybody who went against him would suffer the consequences. Most of the students who were publicly agajnst all of this were from the University of the Philippines, which is known for encouraging their students to speak out, even to this day. People who opposed him would either disappear, be arrested, or killed. It was a terrifying time. Yet, the Filipino's didn't give up, whcih led us to one of if not the most famous revolution to ever happen to the Philippines, the EDSA People Power Revolution.
EDSA People Power Revolution
The EDSA People Power Revolution took place in Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (also known as EDSA) located in Metro Manila, Philippines. The date it took place was on Febuary 25, 1986.
What was the reason for it? Well, the reason for it was to overthrow the current president at the time, Ferdinand Marcos. The government had gone corrupted and millions of people were killed in the process. What made the people power revolution so famous and well-known however, was not just the fact that it was sucessful, but it was peaceful despite Ferdinand Marcos' wishes. He had tried to order the military to take action against this protest, but many were against it as they had grown tired of his rule.
Eventually, they had relented and Ferdinand Marcos was no longer the president. Shortly after, people had exposed the Marcos family for amassing wealth during their rule.
Final Remarks
And that is it! I might be doing this again but don't quote me on that. Here is a list of the websites I mentioned and other's you could use if you want to look into it more!
★ The date of the Philippine independence
★ Definition of the Martial Law
★ The Marcos Family, The Claims Of Them Amassing Illegal Money
★ Overview of the Philippine's Under Colonization
★ History of EDSA People Power Revolution
