I said I wasn't doing the -tober prompts, but today's Flufftober prompt "family, friends, loved ones" prompted a ten steps removed idea for a drabble. So, please enjoy some Bonus Links shenanigans

War stood from his seat near the head of the table. All eyes turned to his passive sweep over the gathered guests, waiting only a moment before beginning his brief addressal for the evening. "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears." "Romans?" Mirror whispered, leaning further into Mask's personal space. He glared at him, but Mirror didn't seem to notice. "Where do you think Romans are from? You think Mage has been there?" "Are you kidding? Mage has been everywhere." Wake hissed from Mask's other side. He leaned in, further boxing in the younger hero. "But he's never mentioned Romans." "He doesn't talk about shit." Wake glanced across the table, sizing him up. Mage remained unaware of the debate, staring passively at War as he continued his dull speech. Mask didn't think anyone was listening, not that he could considering the pair whispering back and forth through his ears. He tried to tune them out, and he was mostly successful if he tried really hard to pick out what War was saying. Something about ambition and the crown. Mask wondered what the point of the speech was supposed to be, but it didn't matter. He'd never admit to his incomprehension, because as soon as War finished talking about what might have been an assassination after all, the castle waitstaff brought out the trays of food to signal the start of the meal. And with food and chatter around the table to distract Mirror and Wake, Mask was free to snatch as much food as his pockets could hold and sneak out of the dining hall to eat in quiet peace.

Rose is literally responsible for multiple people getting CONSUMED BY DEMONS. She was LITERALLY designed to be a Machiavellian piece of shit and it’s only by pure luck that she has any kind of heart or compassion, greatest girlboss I’ve ever seen, bless her heart (she deserves hell)

Rose thorburn was given a sapient clone of her but if she was a better person (and also a guy) to use as a sacrificial lamb slash meatshield against the assembled magical and karmic forces attempting to kill her for her family's history of using demons for Evil Shit & in response she knowingly manipulated him towards those ends while selfishly seeking emotional comfort from him, e.g forcibly hugging him despite being fully aware that he has intense trauma around touch + finds it triggering. she is a cunt. she is an icon. she is knowingly allowing herself to be possessed by the literal incarnation of conquest because it's making her better at being a cunt. and that's just in the part of the obscenely long webnovel i have actually finished thus far
