Wow did this book hold my attention! The novel was written in such a way that the tension and eerie-ness was palpable throughout its entirety, and the rhyme gave me chills. While the premise itself was interesting, it also reminded me of The Whisper Man by Alex North, but with a few differing twists. The characters within this book at times felt unrealistic, but I found them to be intriguing. The old tensions between Callum and some of the townsfolk made for a captivating read, and it was interesting watching Callum sort through the evidence and work out the truth at the heart of things. I very much enjoyed the alternating timelines and how the mysteries tied into each other, but I felt like some of the deeper topics were unexplored. That being said, the discussions the book had were done well, and they added a lot of depth into the overall storyline.
