Giant turnips!! This week at the Read With River Book Club our theme is food, and I've got a few yummy favourites to share. But first and foremost, absolutely perfect for the season, is "Grandma Lena's Big Ol' Turnip" (2005) by Denia Lewis Hester, illustrated by Jackie Urbanovic. Technically a new take on a traditional cumulative tale, even after almost 15 years this book reads as fresh and modern, with none of the repetitive drone you sometimes see in cumulative stories. As Grandma Lena sets out to grow some spectacular root veggies and turn them into comfort food with the help of her extended family, Hester and Urbanovic's words and images give nothing but seasonal warmth and family togetherness in a beautiful read-aloud story with plenty of fun thrown in. 🍠🍠🍠 Play along with the book club this week by sharing your favourite food-themed books with the tag #ReadWithRiver_Food. #bookreview ✔️// ⚡️ 5 magnificent stars for this amazing journey I had with some of my favourite characters. SJM has nailed it again❤️ She never fails to impress all of us at least consider me in. Oh god! When will be the last book out? Someone please go and tell her to write super fast. I cannot wait till the last book comes out. ⚡️As the story went by I was like clutching my nervous heart tightly because so much was happening in the book. Aelin and her whole team was Ahhhh!! 😘😍 I don’t know how SJM will gonna wrap up a lot of things in her last book but I trust her with my whole heart. I think she might write more than 1300 pages tome of a book😂😂. CHAOL was my fav since book 1. I really didn’t ship Rowan and Aelin 🙄 at all tbh. For me it was always chaol. In the previous book he hadn’t got much space on the screen. So I am happy that a whole book is dedicated to him which have got him much more respect and love 😍😘😘 I am super excited about the reunions in the next instalment. It would be great to read about the characters much more. So, it is safe to say that I LOVED this book very much and Chaol will always be my darling❤️. . . Some combinations are just guaranteed winners. Chocolate and peanut butter, popcorn and butter, cheese and crackers... And when I saw Jory John and Bob Shea's names together on the cover of "I Will Chomp You!" (2015), I knew I was in for a treat.
