Wrote this a few years ago: Do I miss the person I used to be? Yes. But here’s the thing that many don’t understand. My entire life; people have walked all over me. They took advantage of my kindness and tender heart. I’m not sure when it happened, but all I know is that over time; I began to build an iron fortress around my heart. The greater walls, the vast amount that no one would be able to see just how truly fragile my heart is. I miss how carefree and joyous I once was. Different circumstances and events caused me to always look over my shoulder. Pull myself up by my own bootstraps. I got into the mindset-that the only person who would have my back is myself. C-ptsd over time changes you. So many people have told me, that they miss the Jessica that I used to be. And they’re right. I’ve had to be so strong for so long-that it’s hard for me to let other people really in and see my heart. I’m not even sure

Why I’m writing this post.

Over the years, I’ve held so much in. To protect people, yes. To protect hearts, yes. Most could never handle one day in my shoes and that’s the truth. I haven’t felt my age for a long time. In many ways, I feel much older than being almost 35. Wanna know why?

When life throws challenges and curveballs your way: you either crumble underneath the pressure or you rise up and meet the difficult moments head on.

Many times I’ve landed on my feet; but on the inside I’m in a fetal position and bawling my eyes out.

But, I know that Jesus has never failed me. He has sent so many precious people into my life. Having trust issues and cptsd sometimes-makes life hard. There are memories from go ministries international that I cannot erase from my mind. Other moments too, where I’d give anything to have a healthy birth mother. I haven’t really spoken to her in nearly 8 years. She doesn’t have any relationship at all with my kids.

There’s the pain of my brother josh dying last year from brain cancer. He was only 30.

There’s a plethora of things that weighs on my heart daily.

But. Again. I keep a lot inside to protect others. Think of me as a sponge. My heart is just tired and weary.

I’m not a stranger to persecution. Being set apart for Jesus is 💯 worth it. The anointing is amazing; but none of you will never know the cost.

But, I know there’s beauty along the way. Jesus is turning all my ashes into beauty.

One day, this will all make sense. All my musings are works of art to his heart.

Yup. I just bawled my eyes right now.

This feels hella vague and I know you’re trying to be nice or whatever but that is not how shit works. Alola’s got high prices for anything, that includes livin. The bills are already shit enough that our pokecenter here in Po Town don’t work.

I’m real lucky to even have a job right now and blessed to have a boss who ain’t judging me for being apart of team skull in the first place. College ain’t even a possibility—I don’t have the right registration to put in, and the qualifications for the only college I can even get to consistently right now—Malie—are too high for me.

Alola doesn’t care about us because it ain’t profitable. We can’t go anywhere else because it ain’t profitable. I’ve tried applying to other jobs—but they usually just turn you down at this stage. And if they do get you into a job you’ll probably just be fired for some arbitrary reason afterward. Maybe I’ll hit the lottery of all work and get some job that’ll let me get out of the shithole I’m in. Maybe I’ll be able to properly pull myself up by ‘my bootstraps’ at age 17 and have no debt and a nice apartment with a kind landlord and affordable living. But that ain’t possible right now, and probably won’t ever be unless something with the system changes.

I thought I could get some stable job when team skull first disbanded, I was starving on the damn streets of Malie and bouncing between shitty shelter after shitty shelter, and the only reason I didn’t die was cause that stupid cop took enough pity on me. At least I’m not starving in team skull.
