Remembrance Day
The poppy is a symbol of Remembrance and hope, including hope for a positive future and peaceful world.
Between the years 1886 and 1890, Vincent van Gogh completed seven different paintings featuring poppy flowers. “(…) But I have made a series of colour studies in painting, simply flowers, red poppies, blue corn flowers and myosotys, white and rose roses, yellow chrysanthemums-seeking oppositions of blue with orange, red and green, yellow and violet seeking les tons rompus et neutres to harmonize brutal extremes. Trying to render intense colour and not a grey harmony. (…) So as we said at the time: in colour seeking life the true drawing is modelling with colour.”  - Van Gogh to the artist Horace M. Livens, 1886
When Claude Monet returned from England in 1871, he settled in Argenteuil and lived there until 1878. These years were a time of fulfilment for him. Supported by his dealer, Paul Durand-Ruel, Monet found in the region around his home the bright landscapes which enabled him to explore the potential of plein-air painting.
O'Keefe was always frustrated by the fast pace of the world and wanted everyone to take the time to appreciate the more beautiful things in life. O'Keefe said, "So I said to myself — I’ll paint what I see — what the flower is to me but I’ll paint it big and they will be surprised into taking time to look at it — I will make even busy New-Yorkers take time to see what I see of flowers."
The artist Brian Clarke has dedicated the collection of poppy watercolours that he created during lockdown to his late friend Linda McCartney.

For Saturday April 11th 2020 Today’s Tarot cards of the day comes from the Celestial Tarot by Kay Steventon and Brian Clark The card of the day is The Two Of Pentacles , traditionally shown as a youth who has recently left an emotionally challenging conflict that still affects them at present. The effects of that conflict develop in the youth seeking ways to balance out their priorities and livelihoods. In their extreme it can be taken as a person who is moody and stressed trying to get their day to day managed. In this deck however the clarity this card brings is one colored by myth. A time when Zeus’s eagle Aquilla spirited away the youthful Trojan prince Ganymede to Olympus where he became cupbearer to the Gods. The archetypes here are representative of Venusian beauty ( Ganymede ) and Saturnian Fatherly Authority ( Zeus ) inspiring is to develop control over our personal resources whether they be emotional physical or financial. By forging a fertile relationship between commerce and creativity, work and play your resourceful potential can be recognized as heralded by Aquilla, Big Eagle Energy 🙃. What I believe the cards are asking you is how can You find a way to have fun, while getting shit done? Finding the path to this will assist you in maintaining yourself as the authority in your life, also it will take the stress and survival mindset out of situations that demand to be addressed regardless of emotional state. I wish us all the best of luck and the most sarcastic of retorts 😄💕 This is the daily read for the energies of Saturday April 11th 2020 -Xoxo Surfing Lightwaves #TheCelestialTarot #CelestialTarot #KaySteventon #BrianClark #TheTwoOfPentacles #TwoOfPentacles #Aquilla #Saturday #April #Eleventh #allworkandnoplaymakesjackadullboy #allworkandnoplay #Zeus #Eagle #TarotReadersOfInstagram #TarotEverydamnDay #mediumship #Psychic #SurfingLightwaves #SurfingLightwavesTarot ⭐️☀️🏄🏄🏾‍♂️🏄🏾‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏄🏻‍♂️ (at Woodstock, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-1R7BUnRS4/?igshid=1gkn92zmgqnx

Today, we needed a little more spring. Images here are from 'Brian Clarke: Vespers,' published by @heni As the coronavirus persisted into the spring and summer of 2020, British painter and architectural artist Brian Clarke (born 1953) began to spend long evenings in his garden at home in London. Though the global mood was one of solemnity, Clarke found that the poppies in his garden remained as bright as ever. Taking its title from hespera, the Greek word for evening, 'Vespers' is a collection of over 500 watercolors of poppies painted by Clarke during those long evenings spent in solitude among the flowers. Robert Storr writes: "At times… the poppies resemble butterflies swarming, alighting, lifting off again, and wending their own way, lending each sheet a unique kinetic effect. This fluttering, spitting, chromatically vibrating kinesis is amplified by looking at these drawings-that-are-really-paintings as an ensemble composed of the surprise encounters of living graphic organisms belonging to the same delicate but declarative species. Gathered into book form, they are an explosive bouquet of natural beauty at its most ephemeral, given that all truly natural things are inherently ephemeral and that beauty assumes its greatest pitch and poignancy when, according to Gerhard Richter, it has been wounded. All of which brings us back to the poppy as a symbol of youth cut down in its prime and of the impossible, evanescent loveliness of a pipe dream. We do not need to look to the past to verify these associations, and neither does Brian Clarke have to self-consciously evoke or footnote their iconographic or stylistic precedents. They are implicit in his subject and rendered explicit by his treatment of it, as indeed is the case with all real and imagined entities brought to life in the shadow of a plague.” Read more via linkinbio. @brian.clarke_ #brianclarke #poppies #flowers #gardens #spring https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb2hLFWuJJe/?utm_medium=tumblr

For Friday April 10th 2020 Today’s Tarot cards of the day comes from the Celestial Tarot by Kay Steventon and Brian Clark Hello hello hello 🙃🌎 The reading delving into the primary energies of the day are filled by The Four Of Pentacles . In other decks this card is shown as a miserly man gripping his four coins strategically and so much that his material possessions have blocked him off emotionally. He has become a Scrooge unable to be intimate with others and only able to see the world as a place of desperation and struggle. A place where the smart, which he believes himself to be, outwit the weak... However in the Celestial Tarot Deck the energy is under the guidance of the Great hunter Orion. Who despite being a great hunter and companion to the Goddess Artemis, for defiling nature was stung to death by a scorpion 🦂. It is here that the astrological aspect of Taurus begs us to begin to gain awareness at the boundaries separating the Sacred from from the Secular. When this card appears in this way, we need to reflect on our relationship to the material realm between inner values and outer possessions, otherwise we run the risk of becoming a Scrooge who is blinded by greed and envy unable to see the dangerous road we are choosing til we trespass and we learn through challenges that could have been avoided. Remember Stuff doesn’t define you for who you are, it is the character of your soul that precedes you before you entered a room. But, I still have to admit lotsa stuff is mighty fun to play with 🤑🤑🤑😝 Find your balance in this 💕☺️ This is the daily read for the energies of Friday April 10th 2020 -Xoxo Surfing Lightwaves #TheCelestialTarot #CelestialTarot #KaySteventon #BrianClark #Orion #Artemis #Scorpion #Nature #Trespass #Taurus #TheFourOfPentacles #FourOfPentacles #TarotReadersOfInstagram #TarotEverydamnDay #mediumship #Psychic #SurfingLightwaves #SurfingLightwavesTarot ⭐️☀️🏄🏄🏾‍♂️🏄🏾‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏄🏻‍♂️ (at Woodstock, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-yK2fhHLjS/?igshid=17km35u2mbjte

Brian Clarke was born in Oldham, Lancashire, to Edward Ord Clarke, a coal miner, and Lilian Clarke (née Whitehead). In 1965, aged 12, he applied for a place as the last intake of an education scheme existing in the North of England to enable artistically promising children to leave their secondary school and become full-time art students, and was accepted into Oldham School of Arts and Crafts on a scholarship.[4][5] In 1968 he and his family moved to Burnley, where he attended Burnley Art School, and in 1970 he enrolled in an architectural stained glass course at the North Devon College of Art and Design, where he went on to receive a first class distinction in their Diploma in Design.
Paintings, stained glass, screenprints, mosaic and tapestry by Clarke can be found in architectural settings and private and public collections internationally, including the Tate, Victoria and Albert Museum, Seibu Museum of Art in Tokyo, and the Corning Museum of Glass, New York.[13]
Major works include the Foster and Partners-designed Pyramid of Peace and Accord in Kazakhstan, Al Faisaliyah Center in Riyadh, and Stanstead Airport; the Pfizer World Headquarters in New York; the Stamford Cone in Connecticut; windows for Linköping Cathedral in Sweden; the Papal Chapel of the Apostolic Nunciature to Great Britain; the world’s largest stage sets (for Paul McCartney’s 1993 World Tour) and both the largest stained glass work in Great Britain and the largest in the world.
Other projects include ecclesiastical commissions in churches, mosques and synagogues (including the DarmstadtHolocaust Memorial) across Europe, the USA and the Middle East; the glass exterior of ‘Le Grand Bleu’, the Hotel du Department des Bouches-du Rhone, Marseille (with Will Alsop); the Lake Sagami Country Club, Japan (with Arata Isozaki); stage sets for the Dutch National Ballet, and sets for an opera of The Crucible directed by Hugh Hudson; King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Norte Shopping, Rio de Janeiro; the Spindles Shopping Mall, Oldham; the barrel-vaulted roof of Cavendish Arcade, Buxton;[22] the stained glass ceiling of Victoria Quarter, Leeds; windows for the 13th century Cistercian Abbaye de la Fille-Dieu, Romont, Switzerland; collaborations in stained glass with photographer Linda McCartney; and EP and album covers for The Human League, Paul McCartney, and EMI Classical
