Phoenix's relationship with flying:

It's a bit complicated. Basically, Phoenix can fly, but he historically chooses not to. From the lack of any practice, he's an INCREDIBLY weak flier. (That hovering is really all he can manage)

For one, he's still afraid of heights. Can't help that. This fear means he was less inclined to practice flying, which made him a weaker flier. And being a weaker flier, in turn, made his fear of heights worse. And so on, in a loop. With flightless parents too (it's canon now it's canon), there's even less of a reason to learn to fly. At some point, not flying might've even become something he stuck with out of stubbornness lol, knowing Phoenix.

(I will soon be making a couple small world building posts, but) flying isn't necessary to get around in their society. Convenient, sure, but Phoenix realized he could make do without, and so he did. Phoenix, you icon. Slay. 💅💅

i know this probably isn't the popular take with wing AUs??, but Phoenix being flightless (or at least semi-flightless) sounded like a really fun take on the idea to me. His name is irony at its peak. I also look forward to exploring how other characters react to him not flying. The prosecutors are going to have so many cheap insult opportunities.

As I mentioned though, he still uses his wings a LOT, though. He's much more emotive with them than most people. His sarcastic inner-dialogue remarks are also betrayed by his wings lmao

I also imagine bird-folk never really invented bikes (riding would just be annoying with their wings, plus bikes aren't fast/efficient enough to outweigh just flying), so instead, Phoenix gets around on a little wing-powered scooter device (like scootaloo lol) (they're usually made for children who can't fly yet, but Phoenix still uses one)

finally, wow, stellar jay’s are quite literally just phoenix wright as a bird lmao? color scheme, hair, it’s uncanny. give it a pink tie and it just is Phoenix Wright, i used a blue jay since they’ve got a bit more striking wings but wow.

Just finished replaying bridge to turnabout… thinking abt how edgeworth sees himself in pearl…

Him being the most understanding of pearl in this situation because he went through the same thing,,

Thinking about the parallels between them,,,

And the parallel between him and Maya not wanting anything to do with their parents’ careers, even though it was previously their life’s mission.

I really love bridge to turnabout, not just because it’s arguably one of the most interesting/well written AA cases, or at the least in the trilogy, but because it so perfectly shows the growth and connections of the characters through the games and shows how their stories tie together, even seemingly unrelated characters like pearl and edgeworth. I could talk for so long about this case and this series they’re so dear to me

I cannot believe Maggie Stiefvater invented this insane character of an old English historian turned assassin with a serial killer brother and a milf he’s in love with who exemplifies themes of detachment and coming back into living your life for yourself and violence and being a tool to the narrative and then DIDNT include him in her trilogy about ‘what happens after the prophecies’ and what family means and finding something to do with yourself after you’ve learned who you are and generational violence. but instead she made another character who makes herself a tool for a cause she doesn’t believe in because she’s trying to escape her serial killer brother. Okay. Yeah. That’s Fine.

Of all things in the final case of the Original Trilogy, this is the one that made me cry.

I'm not arrogant enough to pretend to be able to decipher Misty Fey, she's a very enigmatic character whose motivations and actions are complicated. However, I can't remain unmoved by her choice of photograph to keep in her Master's charm.

She did not pick a family photo where everyone was smiling, she did not choose a picture where her children accomplished something traditional parents would be proud about.

She chose a spontaneous photo of her children being very worried that they would get in trouble for a common childhood antic. A picture that represents their sisterly bond and respective personalities more sincerely than any other planned photo

What's worse is that, seeing the broomsticks near each Fey kid, the conclusion is obvious: they broke the urn while playing together. They also both feel responsible, as seen by Mia trying to fix the mistake (classic older sibling behaviour, I get you, girl) and Maya crying over being in trouble.

How did it make Misty, whose relationship with Morgan turned sour to the point of homicide, feel to see her daughters get along so well?

I love the sheer sibling chaos of Edgeworth v Von Karma in Bridge to the Turnabout. The way Franziska flew out no questions asked when Miles needed her (literally no questions, she did not know who she was facing in court), gaslighting the judge together, the little passive aggressive remarks throughout all the proceedings, and of course “Legends are a thing of the past. I am a Von Karma. That is all.”

I love the development that they both undergo throughout all of the PW trilogy, both taking the journey to unlearn Manfred’s ideology and understanding what being a prosecutor means to them. The way that they are always there for each other while also never missing an opportunity to call one another an idiot— or a fool, is so accurate to having a sibling.
