Eve is the protagonist of Stepdaughter of Bhaal, my bg3 playthrough/AU fic! (Or, given that it's 80k+ words now, my novel. yowch)

Heavily inspired by Susan from Discworld and the book version of Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle. I wanted her to be a slightly calmer, more grounded version of the "baffled everyman forced into fantasy adventure" trope, same vibes as Neverwhere or the Hitchhiker's Guide.

The reason she is a Halfling Bard is simply out of protest to the fact there's no Origin character for any of the small races, and I wanted her character to feel like a Companion Character From Another Timeline™. I started writing my fic, got a clearer idea of her, then when I started my honour mode playthrough I decided to make and play as Eve. Now I keep taking screenshots while I play because I accidentally made her too pretty. help

i think she has a cute little dublin 4 accent, also. she is Very Irish

(I'm a little regretful that I didn't think to name Eve or her mother after Brinna Brightsong, the hireling - I didn't look until after I finished the game and started the fic.)

wife: a lightfoot halfling fire sorlock named Kindling who is a sweet baby that never did anything wrong in her life

me: a deep gnome swords bard named Viette who despite being a resist durge is still a gremlin, a beast, a scoundrel, a rake, a wretch

the npcs:

astarion (strength-based monk)

shadowheart (life cleric)

gale (camp cleric/transmutation wizard that stays home & reads his books & cast morning support spells & brews potions)

minty, eventually (probably some manner of multi-class paladin or the gloomstalker assassin or maybe she'll just hang around and talk shit)

the hirelings:

kree derryck (tavern brawler thrower + invisible scout)

brinna brightsong (backup camp cleric for when gale needs to go walkies)

the poor decision-making:

no lae'zel, wyll or karlach to avoid some annoying fights + trim down on companion quests, and to side with gortash without feeling bad for betraying best girl :(

not lifting the shadow curse cuz that fight in particular is quite bugged for me & often soft-locks my game

possibly no jaheira (i mean mommy. sorry. mommy? sorry. mommy? sorr—) or minsc, to further streamline quests

Cannot get over the fact that hireling bard has the same voice I chose for Wysteria.

She might be a halfling and not a tiefling, but bearing vicious mockery makes it feel like Wysteria is still here.

I think I need to hire all of them!🤩 They even have their backstories blurbs 💖

ONCE YOU’VE DONE ONE HORRIBLE THING, WHY NOT DO 40 MORE?!

i didn’t intend for this to be the worst most horrible playthrough but it’s happening and i can’t turn back now nope just gonna see where this goes. Onan, my Tiefling (Tav), serves only herself. She lead the RAID on the Refugees And just uh... There was some extra special dialogue with Karlach. SORRY EVERYONE, THE BEST GIRL HAS BEEN KILLED. SO SORRY. SOS O SO SO SO SOSOSOSO SORRY Onan’s Nicknames so far: “Bastard!” - Zevlor “Motherfucker!” - Karlach My... Dark Urge playthrough isn’t even this bad. At least that guy has a sense of honor and justice but Onan? NOPE! I’ve made my own silly little backstory reasons why she’s like this as a Monk and a Noble. I will ramble about that later but for now... UNDER THE CUT IS ONAN HOLDING KARLACH’S HEAD IM SO SORRY. [Once again i must remind you that my feelings are in tatters...
